@MB1456:
Firecoruch they're not really moving away from anime, it's just that the shows they have aren't being ratings grabbers so they're picking less & less. But they haven't given up on it, since Pokemon, Bakugan, and for the moment Naruto still airs.
Saying that CN has completely given up on anime is stupid.
I haven't said they've completely given up on anime, but they're definitely moving away from it. The only reason they're still airing "Pokemon" and "Naruto" is because is, other than "DragonBall Z", they're pretty much the only anime that get record-breaking ratings and have on-going new episodes. The main reason they've taken such a liking to "Bakugan" is because they own the merchandising rights to it, I'm sure it gets good ratings but I can't imagine it bringing a lot of growth to the network. Back in the day Cartoon Network would air pretty much any anime they thought was good, could attract the audience they were going after, fit in with their image, and more importantly got good ratings, not necessarily big-hit ratings, but just solid, above-average ratings, and even though since about 1998 Cartoon Network has become associated with bringing a lot of anime to T.V. it's not like it's ever become that big part of their programming, anime has always been a small percentage compared to original shows and movies they air. Cartoon Network is now under new management, the C.E.O. of FUNimation even told me himself that it's now being run by someone who used to work for Nickelodeon, and in order to focus more on original programming (which makes more money for them since they own it) and what I personally believe is part of an image-change, they're slowly moving away from anime. Since their new programming blocks are getting plenty of ratings growth for them, I think at least in the short-term it'll only get worse for anime fans. They seem to want to only air anime that immediately gets outstanding ratings or that they'd have a vested, extra interest in. Just look at "Blue Dragon", they probably just picked up that show because it's for kids and it's based on a video game, and it didn't last very long.
