Red Hulk #5 SPOILERS; DAMN YOU JEPH LOEB!

This post is deleted!

Well…I kinda have/read alot of comics (most recently), so I don't have any individual chapter impressions to post so I just have one question.
Anyone else here read Teen Titans? That's pretty much my main DC series and I have the second half of Part 2 (Tales of the New Teen Titans) in mint condition.
Anyways, if someone here has read up to recent (v.3 61), I would like to discuss some things...
-
I have the #1-#12 of Teen Titains. I think to where Deathstrike shoots Impulse in the kneecap

http://i35.tinypic.com/263ymx2.gifwhats the deal with that red hulk? he looks really cool. i only read a couple american books, and i have no idea whats goin on in marvel (or dc) books right now.
-
speaking of the hulk. What kinda hulk is he in World War Hulk? Because he can speak normally but he still strong as hell (stronger than ever)

Yeah, that's part 3. Part 3 is REALLY GOOD right now, in my opinion.
As for Teen Titans, here's how they rank to me.
1: The New Teen Titans (80's. Pt2 is called Tales of the New Teen Titans)
2: Teen Titans (Part 3: 2003-now)
3: Teen Titans (Part 1: 60s)
4: Teen Titans (Part 2: 1996. The outcast series with all new Titans. Very short)
5: Teen Titans GO! (Based off of the cartoon. You can tell the next one's bad if this is placed here…)
6: The Titans (1999. Terrible. Cyborg is some gold metamorph and starfire's costume is edited. Everyone looks weird and the story had to end up "fixing itself" to go back to the way it was. You can almost cut this one out and this part might not have ever existed). There's two new series right now.
1: Titans (The older titans formed a new group. Only four issues right now. It's already shown everyone naked and Star and Nightwing having sex)
2: Tiny Titans (It's SO funny for being intended for kids. Has parodies of the titans [TONS OF INJOKES EVEN RELATED TO THE MOVIES OF SERIES] and looks like it could have been on cartoon network. Very cartoony and has 6 issues right now…maybe 7)[EDIT: Alright…I may have exaggerated. Perhaps Teen Titans Go [I]is worse than The Titans. I don't like either, though, for the most part. Both screwed with the series too much]

Hahaha I am a fan of the current Teen Titans series-
! Sad to see Rose leaving the group, but I hope she kicks ass in Clock King's Terror Titans
Man all this hype about Teen Titans from the 80s will eventually make me read it XD.@odz- Don't get me wrong, Red Hulk IS badass, but Jeph Loeb is really fucking shit up with him. Mind you we (comic book community) have a joke about Jeph Loeb; unless he is working with T. Sale (artist), Loeb is completely insane.
@Ty- Hulk has actually been able to talk 'normally' in various stories. I personally like the normal talking Hulk over the 'choppy first person speaking' Hulk.
Oh and RuNa there are some mini series you missed out but I doubt you'll miss out on anything if you don't read them. (Like Titans East which had Cassandra without her speech impairment >_<)
-
Oh yeah, here's a rather NSFW scene from Teen Titans and is one of my favourite!
! After a long tiring day, we see Robin the Boy Wonder going to his room in Titans Tower for some 'alone time' R&R-
BTW does anyone read the current Manhunter series? That one is kickass.
-
BTW does anyone read the current Manhunter series? That one is kickass.
I read the first 20 or so issues, but I didn't even know it was still around.
-
Yeah it was paused in 2007 after which she started being a regular character in Birds of Prey. Her series continued this summer tho.
-
Why are they "killing off" Bruce Wayne in this Batman R.I.P. series?
-
Probably for the same reason they killed Superman in "The Death Of Superman" to see how the fanbase will react.
-
Hmm…well I just read Batman 676 and:
! Robin says he's not dead
-
Reading Civil War right now (no spoilers please) but Spiderman really seems like hes on the wrong damn side. He seems OOC, "Ill take off my mask for you Tony…anything for you Tony...your my friend Tony"
-
Well, Grant Morrison isn't necessarily going to kill Bruce Wayne. It might just be that Bruce Wayne will stop being Batman or something (Batman is "killed", not Bruce Wayne):
"it’s so much better than death. People have killed characters in the past but to me, that kind of ends the story! I like to keep the story twisting and turning. So what I am doing is a fate worse than death."
Either way, I'm enjoying the storyline a lot.

Tony made the Gold & Red costume for Spider-Man so….
-
Still thats like if someone built you a house then in exchange told you to shoot yourself in the kneecaps. I know somethin is gonna happen to Peter for doing this
-
Yeah, if you think Pete's OOC now wait until you hit One More Day.
Also, on GM's view of death, sometimes stuff ends. Let stuff end, DC.
-
Well, for one thing it would be a lot easier to leave Bruce Wayne alive so that when they decide to bring him back as Batman (which will eventually happen) they wouldn't have to make some lame way to revive him.
And it's not like DC is the only comic company guilty of that sort of stuff.
As long as the storyline is good, I don't care about any of that anyway. I started reading Morrison's Batman run before the "R.I.P." hype, and I don't even care what happens to Bruce Wayne or Batman in the end. The stuff about the Black Glove and the Club of Villains and finding out how all the pieces fit together is far more interesting to me.

ZUR-EN-AARH
ZUR-EN-AARH
ZUR-EN-AARHActually the first Robin tie-in is rather interesting since it seems that
! the future Robin and co. are trying to prevent, looks like it WILL happen.[/spoiler

Thank God, Spiderman realised the side hes supposed to be on…
Tony Stark such an asshole i wanna see wolverine cut off his head
-
lol, altho Tony may look like a shit-head in Civil War, his current series is kickass.
Speaking of his current series, I hear it will be changed to War Machine! -
Finished Civil War it was amazing but the ending of it seemed rushed. Fucking registration fucked up so many of those guys lives and now Aunt May and Cap
! are dead and i cant even keep reading
-
Aunt May isn't dead.
-
^I wish she'd stay that way tho >|
Oh and Ty may I recommend the current Captain America series by Brubaker? I've paused it ATM but all of its arcs were awesome. -
damn comics now im obssessed as soon as i get current ima have to start buying them
i mean im left off at an Amazing Spiderman cliffhanger
Wolverine leaving Nitro with Namor to die
Deadpool and his first person narratives not working -
^I wish she'd stay that way tho >|
Didn't she die some few years back and they had a wake afterwards?
-
Check your PM, son.
Oh and I have a full collection of DeadPool comics if u want me to hook ya up with that.@Aunt May's death- Yeah she was killed in the 80s IIRC but then it was revealed to be some clone or another.
-
How corny.
(20 Characters) -
so…Cap probably isnt dead then?
-
! He's dead alright
but! No-one ever stays dead in comics
-
^Like
! Prof. X in the recent X-Men series :D
BTW Ty, the order I sent u the DP stuff is actually the READING order; after DP's 90s series, it continues in Agent X and after that the greatness that is Cable and DeadPool.Oh and if I haven't said it yet (and if even if I did it's worth saying again), The Sentry sucks.
-
The series or the character?
-
I hate him he just look fruity + his personality
-
@Sandai:
The series or the character?
Character, damn bastard is such a wuss.
Oh and is it me or DC no longer know what to do with Mr. Freeze?
-
That was the most epic thing ive read all summer. Peter beat the shit outta kingpin
-
this is worth the double post from the idiot who read Amazingly Gay Spiderman #545
WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY FUCKING WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT!?Theres nothing i hate more when in movies people find out it was all a dream (Click). Now in spiderman this mother fucker desides to end his marrage for his old, gonna die soon anyways, aunt. Thats just fucking retarded. A whole life of happiness or a lady whos gonna die in 10 years max. Hmmm
Now everything i just read never fucking happened and i just wasted about a 5 hours of my life reading it. I gotta agree with IGN on this
@IGN:
The comic book industry is relatively unique in that creators are very accessible and outspoken. For years now we've heard Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada talk about how he wanted to end Spider-Man's marriage. Oddly he always saddled that statement with the fact that it was impossible to properly undo the marriage without crippling the character's appeal in some fundamental way. He made the case to not dissolve the marriage while trying to explain his distaste for that particular status quo. Flash forward several years, and dozens of explanations, to today. This is easily one of the most forced, poorly conceived storylines I have ever had the displeasure of reading. Characterization is out the window and so is logic as Marvel drags Spider-Man, and his fans, into an era that no one was demanding save for Joe Quesada himself. Nothing compares to this.
Bryan and Jesse have really gone over the basic beats. All I'll say is that in trying to preserve the appeal of Peter Parker, Joe Quesada has actually managed to fundamentally undermine the character. This storyline adds nothing except to damage the integrity of our hero. Peter believes that he needs to do something to save Aunt May because his "irresponsible" behavior caused her to be mortally wounded. So he pushes his wife in front of a metaphorical bus. Yes, well done there. That makes sense. That kind of logic flies in the face of everything fans have come to know and love about this character over the past 40 years. It's an insult to those of us who go to the comic book shop every week. You can make the argument that sometimes fans don't always know what they want, but there has to be some sense when approaching change despite protest. "House of M" made X-Men comics better – it improved the core concept, evolving the franchise. Likewise "Civil War" moved the Marvel Universe in a fascinating new direction (while still paying tribute to the past). How does forcing a marriage apart, damaging character integrity and neutering an Ultimate title really make things better? It's a travesty. In the interest of space, I'll refrain from critiquing the logic of having Mephisto demand a marriage when the death of Aunt May is clearly of more value to Peter Parker. In a word, it's ludicrous.
This shit fuckin wak man dont think im readin spiderman anymore
-
You'd figure after all this time people would learn to move on from
"One More Day". -
well i just read it for the first time. SANDAI YOU KNEW I WAS GONNA READ IT! Why didnt you stop me
-
Would you rather I had just told you that Peter makes a deal with Mephisto that manages to save Aunt May's life but in turn causes his marriage with Mary Jane to come to an end?
-
idk but now i need to visit doctor strange and go back in the past
just answer this, does it get better?
-

Fair enough. I thought that character deaths (or denouements, in this case) usually happen to jolt a flailing series, but Batman has been pretty f'ing solid recently. I'll just miss the little interactions between Bruce Wayne and the sordid cast of characters in Gotham City.
SM, I don't think people have gotten over 'One More Day' because that plot twist was god-awful.

Ask Freeman or look up on Wikipedia.

From what I can remember from his early interviews before he began his run, Morrison already had the storyline planned from the beginning. I think it was pretty much all his idea and up to him (and not a decision by DC). I could be wrong, but so far pretty much everything he talked about in his first interviews has happened. I don't think it was planned to be a big tie-in event (or at least there was no indication about such until recently), it was just going to be Grant Morrison's definitive Batman story (a deconstruction of the character if I recall).
I'm pretty sure he said it was going to stay in the title he was writing, but it seems like now it has became an event with tie-ins to other Bat titles. But I haven't been reading any others, so I don't know exactly how they fit together with Morrison's story.
But my mindset is that most things in comics go back to normal after awhile anyway. So although Batman/Bruce Wayne has always been my favorite major comic character, I'm not really that concerned about what's going to happen to him.
-
iite Sandai, i pretty much read everyones opinion on every board on the first page of google. And 99.7% of everyone hated it. I mean did Civil War never end up the same now, Cap still dead?
blah blah blah shits fucked up. Unless someone tells me that some how someway they retract this and/ or make this Mephisto stuff undone then im done with Amazing Spiderman ill just go back to ultimate…
There are other ways to end their marriage rather than pushing the big red Staples "Easy" button. Since magic rarely needs to be explained the way science does, it's just too convenient for writers to use it as a way to retcon a really crappy outcome coughCivilWarcough they backed themselves into. There was a reason Dr. Strange was left out of the Civil War - because uber magic would be too easy as a resolution and the war would have been started and over in one issue rather than 25 (with crossovers and special releases).I was also quite surprised that Peter chose to save Aunt May again and end it with MJ. Maybe I'm far too villainous for my superhero self but let's face it: Peter has had to save this old broad for the last 40 years or so. I know he's usually the reason she's fighting for her life but at the point we were at, Aunt May was a dear old woman who had lived a rather full life. He could have realized that this is one time he couldn't save her. That would allow him to stay with MJ and have that daughter they got a glimpse of. And considering Spider-Girl was originally started as a "What if Spidey & MJ had a daughter story" well, it seems logical.
And what the heck was up with MJ's secret pact to Mephisto on the side? It seemed to me that she was bargaining herself to him as a betrothed but it wasn't revealed and may just be something that the writer and editor are sticking in their back pockets for now so that in a year when they need to undo this undo they can whip it out and say, "Oh wait! MJ has this deal with Mephisto that…"
As for the unmasking, well we all knew it was mistake when he did it in the first place. Does this mean that none of CW happened? If so, where is Steve Rogers? How can a chunk of people be hurled back in time but not the rest of the concurrent Marvel U? It makes no bloody sense.
I heard JMS was so appalled with the script that he wanted his name removed but was begged to stamp it on there. He didn't write any of it though his name is in the credits with Joe Q. They probably threw enough money at him that he was willing to have his name attached to this cheap theatric. That JMS thing is true, he said it in an interview
Spider-Man made a deal with the devil that no matter how it turns out, the fact willl aways now remain he made that deal, but he also proved that the only familiy he ever really cared about is aunt. Not his wife, not his lost daughter.
Ah and lastly
I think Peter striking a deal with the DEVIL is a stupid idea. It just goes against the core of the Spiderman character. Great Power, Great responsiblity, ever heard of it? Peter knows that a deal with the devil wouldn't end well (definitly not for him, but its very selfish just to think of himself. What effect does the marriage never happening have on the rest of the MU too?! there could some awful problems..)…PLUS he knows that Aunt May wouldn't want it.
Thats another thing, nowhere in this did Peter actually ask May what she wanted. IF he had, I'm sure she would have said it was her time and that Peter & MJ deserved to be happy...
And as if erasing the marriage wasn't bad enough, I hear that Harry Osborn has been brought too. Yet another great DeMatties story being erased (the first one to be erased was by a different editor---Aunt May's death).
I don't get it. I really don't. We've already got the single, teenage Peter over at Ultimate Spiderman. Why does he HAVE to be single in Amazing Spiderman too???
Though if you HAD to do it, I think a better solution would have been to have Peter just go all the way and have the devil make it where he NEVER got Spider powers. So hey, there you go. Aunt May doesn't die, Uncle Ben doesn't, Gwen doesn't, and Harry doesn't. If he's going to make a deal with the DEVIL, why not go ALL the way?
^ agree with that guy
im done ranting, just had to get that all out of my system before i went to bed. Whether anyone reads it all or notedit:
Normally I never get truly upset by what happened in a comic book… I've been annoyed by stuff before (Young Justice/Titans), but never to the point where I felt berated. Whats worse is that I'm upset with my self because I am so upset with with what happened to fictional characters.
One More Day has got to be the single most ridiculous series I've ever read. Who in their right mind would trade their marriage to save an over 70 year old AUNT??? Not mother….not sister....but AUNT!! I don't care how important she's been in his life, WE'RE TALKING ABOUT YOUR WIFE!!! Marvel never ceases to amaze me with the desire to keep useless characters around. Aunt May should've been dead long ago. She's not "Alfred" (who actually adds something to the Batman stories), but she a crutch and a burden....has been from the beginning! Now we are forced to stomach more Peter Parker coming of age stories!!!! Look Marvel eggheads, Mary Jane and Peter's marriage actually works! And the death of May adds a whole new dimension to the Spiderman character. I would've loved to see him go after the Kingpin! I would've loved to have seen the mean streak come out of him, as he goes after those responsible for her murder! I'd love to see the constant movement of him and MJ as they try to avoid Stark! Now, just like the "New and Improved straight from the cocoon" Spiderman and the new costumes, that angle has been scrapped! You guys are proceeding to absolutely destroy one of the greatest characters in comic history.......by the way, Spiderman 3 sucked too.
also agree with that guy. Now im out and im done
-
I agree since Aunt May is not even his blood aunt for god sake.
-
So…I shouldn't get back into Spiderman then, eh?
What's funny is that I actually almost got back into before the whole clone thing happened, but then stopped because of the stupidity of the story line (and guess what? nobody liked that one). Now they do that? I'm starting to think they don't want people to read it anymore...
