Sonic 2 & 3 In my opinion had the better Soundtrack, though Flying Battery Zone 2, Death Egg Zone, Sky Sanctuary Zone, & The Doomsday kicked ass.

If you don't have Sonic Only set on StH2, then the special stages are terrible to deal with BECAUSE THAT GOD DAMNED FOX KEEPS RUNNING INTO THE MINES!
-
It's no less of a headache than Blue Sphere
-
Blue Sphere was awesome. I used to plug that sucker into everything in my Genesis library just to play new Blue Spheres.
-
I beat like 40 of em

I honestly have never encountered that problem in Sonic 2. Actually, that damn fox helped by getting those ever so few rings that I'd miss.
-
^ Sure in the first few. But when you get to the ones that have more spikes it's like hell. You basically have to move just before you need to in order to keep Tails from crashing.
-
Ya see…my sister plays with me so i dont have that problem

Guess they feel they had to open up a site at some point…
Not much, some new pics of the backgrounds and a slightly updated trailer. And it's been confirmed for Nintendo Wii, Xbox360, and Playstation's 2 & 3.
They basically just took the plot from Sonic Advance 3.

LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (April 3, 2008) – SEGA of America and SEGA of Europe Ltd., today announced that everyone’s favourite hedgehog will be breaking new ground yet maintaining his roots, in the upcoming title, Sonic Unleashed. Developed by renowned studio Sonic Team, the latest installment in the multi-million selling franchise, will take players on an unforgettable high-speed journey around the globe in a way never before experienced in the world of Sonic. The game is set for release later this year and will be available for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION3 computer entertainment system, Wii home video game system from Nintendo and PLAYSTATION2.
Sonic Unleashed is built on a powerful new “Hedgehog Engine”, which introduces seamless 3D to classic 2D camera transitions, whilst delivering a rich and expansive world with multiple paths to choose from. Under development for three years, the Hedgehog Engine produces a visually rich next generation look and feel with elements of classic Sonic gameplay mechanics. The Hedgehog engine will help re-define the gameplay experience for Sonic fans and newcomers to the franchise alike.
“By combining rich and vibrant scenery with dynamic viewpoints Sonic Unleashed will provide an immersive 3D experience whilst keeping alive the 2D gameplay elements and fantastic worlds that Sonic fans know and love” commented Gary Knight, European Marketing Director for SEGA Europe. “In addition to this classic Sonic gaming experience, when darkness sets in Sonic Unleashed players will be able to experience a completely new way to play as Sonic… making this his most exciting adventure yet!”

By completing a wide variety of action-packed stages, spanning the seven broken continents of the world, gamers will need to unleash Sonic’s amazing abilities to save the world, and himself!
The opportunity to engage in Sonic in different ways during the day and night time levels brings a completely original way of playing to the Sonic franchise, in addition to running at high speeds in classic Sonic style, combat fighting will become possible. Super quick Sonic’s speed skills will be highlighted by four new modes, whilst the all new combat, movement and functional abilities will offer depth and variety to the game. As the sun sets in Sonic Unleashed, a different type of adventure will awaken in Sonic’s newest quest…
Sonic Unleashed is scheduled for release worldwide in late 2008."Sonic must reunite the 7 continents with the 7 chaos emeralds and when Night hits him he goes were-sonic.
Coming for everthing cept the DS.

were-sonic oh …..Sega ....oh Sega .....I wonder if the game play will be faster or slower if he is Were Sonic ?

Sonic must reunite the 7 continents with the 7 chaos emeralds and when Night hits him he goes were-sonic.

so this game could be really good if there was no were-sonic…>.>
then again Sega might just do good this time...

Really ?! after Sega made several attempts to ''reboot", the franchise failed miserably. It will take more than simply the cutting out' ''Sonic the Werehog'' to make this this game even remotely good .
-
well it looks like its 2.5 and sidescrolling
-
I like the gameplay video that was shown. Good old platforming Sonic.
Problem? That's all they're showing. None of the actual story or were-Sonic. So basically they're suckering people into believing it might be a good game by not showing the in-game footage of the crap.

What were those several attempts that failed other than Sonic The Hedgehog and minus Shadow The Hegdehog?
-
Shadow the Hedgehog wasn't a "revamp". SONIC the Hedgehog (or Silver the Hedgehog as I like to call it) was the only failed attempt at "Revamping" the series.
-
Just in case anyone decided to play The Shadow card.
-
@Sandai:
Just in case anyone decided to play The Shadow card.
Shadow the hedgehog was only an experiment to see of Sonic can appeal to a mature demographic. I bet you that with more creative level, design less tedious game play , the exclusion of the guns( worst mistake ever made) and better camera Shadow the hedegehog would have maybe turned out be be a decent game .
-
And yet people would still shit on it just like they did with the Adventure games.
-
@Sandai:

I played through Shadow 2 or 3 times. Even if I didn't mind the guns, the fact remains that he became generic and angsty, Black Doom just came out of nowhere, the camera was arguably worse than ever before in a Sonic game and I homing attacked off an obvious ledge multiple times through no fault of my own.
I was disappointed.

This post is deleted!

Shut up. Let's get some actual in-game footage before we make our final judgments.

Crap, deleted it.
Sorry. -
What did we miss?
-
@Sandai:
What did we miss?
Just complaining about games we haven't played yet.
-
I bet that when you turn into Were-Sonic you are forced to watch some 30 second cutscene of him turning into the damn thing. And it will probably happen frequently.
-

Weren't some doing that earlier in the thread?

probably …

The gameplay of Sonic Unleashed looks like fun. Also, I do not mind the idea of Were-Sonic even though it reminds me of Wolf Link from Twilight Princess. Anyway, can't wait for more info.
-
^ I hope nothing reminds me of Zelda. UGH.
-
Don't like Zelda?

Hey, anything by Bioware is gold to me. I can't wait for this game either, mate.
-
I always thought that Zelda was that one series that was impossible to hate (especially considering that the captain of the football team and gangsters at my school like it).
Anyways, this game will hopefully be good. Hope the story doesn't get to lame or out of whack like with a few earlier installments.

That roar was lame…
-
In before more people BAWWWWWW about new characters.
-
The only new characters we even know about are the villains or villain looking characters.
-
Not a lot of new info revealed in the new teaser trailer, but it looks like to me that the ring in the teaser trailer will be used to transform into Were-Sonic.

Ugh.
My hopes for the quality of this game were smashed along with that wall.
-
Would of been better if it was Super Sonic that got ripped from Sonic like the UK Comics D:
Still I'll like it if its loading time wouldn't be so horrible like Sonic 2006
-
Well, it's a Sonic game. Of course they're going to introduce at least one or two new rainbow-hued cartoon animals. The questions are A) what random species is it going to be, and B) how high on the scale of worthlessness (1-Sonic, 10-Silver) is it going to be?
