Okay, so we all know who this SUPER voice actor is. And if not, then I just gave it away. Okay, so if you didn't get that, you've been living under a rock for the past 150 or so chapters. Franky's Voice Actor, Patrick Seitz, has agreed to do an interview with me, so if there's any questions you'd like to ask him, post 'em here. (On a side note, I've also gotten ahold of Richard Epcar, if anyone cares about him [He's Bobobo], then gimme some questions for him too)
Patrick Seitz

Yeah, I have a question.
When will you give me his email and all the others you promised me?
Though seriously, I don't mind the fact that you stole this whole interviewing voice actors thing from me but could you at least give me their emails. I would love to talk to some these guys and let them meet their Singaporean counterparts. I would love to interview Colleen at least. Come on, two Luffy's in one convo is epic win.
I've already interviewed like 5 Singaporean Actors, so Bob, why don't you let me add a few Americans to that collection? :)
-
Who are you and why is he agreeing to talk to you? Anyway, ask why he's doing Franky and when Funi approached him about it.
-
I second Strongbad's comment, why? I remember back when no one could confirm who was voicing Franky and I said "Patrick Seitz" cause I recently heard him as Charles Beams in Eureka Seven. XD
My question is what he thinks of his character, a speedo wearing, popeye armed, tall lock of hair, cyborg powered on cola. You don't run into characters like that everyday.
-
Well whatever, people get these chances from time to time, even if it for some crazy reason, fake, doesn't hurt to humor him.
My question is what he thinks of his character, a speedo wearing, popeye armed, tall lock of hair, cyborg powered on cola. You don't run into characters like that everyday.
I second this question. Good one, Buuhan.
My question would be "How did he get the part? Did he know he was doing a small part for a video game, or a full fledged, long-running Anime?"
I've said this before, but I really REALLY hope Funi does Movie 9 next so we can hear more of him.
-
My question: What does he think the level of difficulty will be in maintaining work in both California and Texas?
-
Bah, Shift took my question. (Err, it was similar)
How about, is he interested in looking for other work in One Piece till they get to Franky's story way in the future?
-
My question for Patrick Seitz: did he know much about One Piece before he got the role of Franky?
Also, I have a question for Richard Epcar (it was mentioned in the first post that he could be asked questions as well): was it difficult voicing Bo-bobo, considering how many mood swings the character goes through?
-

Sorry to reply late.
Actually, TGPK, I was waiting 'til they replied to my messages before I gave their emails to you, in case they sent it to me from a separate email as Patrick did. I hope you understand. And as for who I am, I'm just a lucky fan who was lucky enough to have him reply to my email. That's all.
-
Start the interview by saying "Patrick Seitz, I can see you're above even a Category A Voice Actor!! Releasing Control art restriction to Level 3, 2, 1…. Now I'll show you how a REAL fan Does an Interview!!"
... Ok, maybe that would be a little crazy...hmm.... ask him whether or not he knows if they'll be bringing him back for the TV series, or if he was only Franky for UA.
-
FUNi already confirmed over a month ago that Patrick will be Franky in One Piece period, the games, the anime, the movies, everything.
-
Oh… Didn't know that... sorry....
Then, ask him how he got the role, did he go in and audition or did they come to him? Also, this doesn't have to do with One Piece, but I've wanted to ask Patrick Seitz this for a while, so could you please ask him a question for me, and just send me his answer Via PM (Since it's not an OP Question, I don't think you want to put it in your interview you post here)
The Question is: Does he know what's going to happen to the Hellsing Voice cast now that Geneon USA is dead, and FUNimation is going to have Hellsing? and does he know if he's going to be reprising his role as Luke Valentine in Hellsing OVA VII. and if he doesn't know, would he come back if asked?
-
tell him to send emails to cn regarding there temporery remover of onepiece
i can feel this gay is our wining card al ready !!!!
-
When were you approached about this role?
I was down in Dallas last year, doing a day or two of voiceover work on other Funimation projects like Mushi-shi and Hell Girl (and a bit of One Piece walla, including my personal favorite ad-libbed line, the "Karate Kid"-inspired "Put him in a body-bag, Bellamy!"). Unbeknownst to me, it was coming down to the wire for the casting of certain One Piece characters, thanks to the production schedule deadlines for "One Piece: Unlimited Adventure" for the Wii. Mike McFarland asked if I'd like to read for some of them, with the understanding that I'd have to come down to Dallas pretty regularly once the character was introduced in the show if I got one, and come back almost immediately to work on the game. I was down with that, and read for four or five characters–but Franky was my favorite of the bunch, and the one on whom I thought I had the best handle. I got the good news from Mike a week later, and about 48 hours later, I was in a recording booth in Texas, knocking out Franky's lines in "One Piece: Unlimited Adventure".
How did you feel about the character beforehand? Did you know about him?
I didn't know anything about him prior to my audition, but Mike gave me the quick, concise description of him that we're used to working with in anime. Of course, once I got home, I looked him up online and saw how cool he was, which made me want him even more--which is risky business for an actor. Best not to count one's casting chickens before they hatch--it's presumptuous, for one, and leads to a bit of heartache when you watch that character you really want land in someone else's hand. In this case, though, I lucked out.
What do you think about the character? Quote, "a speedo wearing,
popeye armed, tall lock of hair, cyborg powered on cola. You don't run
into characters like that everyday."Exactly--which is why I'm looking forward to him so very much. He's great! Zany, big, flashy, emotional; he lets it all hang out--literally, when they steal his Speedo! He's a far cry from the sorts of characters I've been lucky enough to play, traditionally. I've played more antagonists than protagonists, and much more villainy than comedy. He's definitely going to be an adventure...!
When you were cast, did you think it would be a small part in a video
game, or did you know he would be in the anime?I knew he'd be a member of the crew, once they encountered him. Since I live in Los Angeles, Funimation wouldn't have had me audition for any of those regular characters without making it clear to me beforehand what sort of commitment I was making if I got cast--which they did.
What do you think the level of difficulty will be in maintaining work
in both California and Texas? It might require instances of creative scheduling, on occasion, but generally speaking I'm not worried about it. Worst-case scenario, I'm really busy in both places and it's tough--and that would be great, since it means I'm working a lot. Better too much work than too little!
Are you interested in doing other work in One Piece until Franky is
introduced in Water 7 (Around 50 or so episodes ahead of where they
were on TV When they cancelled it)If I were down there anyhow and they could put me to work knocking out one-line characters and walla and such, I'd be down for that, of course. But on a practical level, a character with enough lines to make it worth going down just for that would probably be a bigger character than they'd like me to play, given that I'm already slated to do Franky. The question hasn't come up, and I don't meant to put words in their mouths--I'm just assuming.
And an extra one not related to OP:
"Does he know what's going to happen to the Hellsing Voice cast now
that Geneon USA is dead, and FUNimation is going to have Hellsing? and
does he know if he's going to be reprising his role as Luke Valentine
in Hellsing OVA VII. and if he doesn't know, would he come back if
asked?"I didn't know they'd nabbed Hellsing; good on ya, Funimation! Fans of the series should be sleeping a little easier now, knowing it'll be held to the same standards as before. I'm not sure what's going to happen with the cast, though. I don't think anybody ever wants to have to change horses midstream, vocally speaking, but the logistics of getting the original cast down there is an issue. A lot of it will come down to the individual actors, and whether or not their circumstances allow for them to head down to Texas. I did know thanks to some vigilant fans that Luke pops up again later in the manga, but I was under the assumption that it was just a cameo. Either way, though, I'd definitely be interested in reprising Luke if they asked me to. I imagine I'll be making the Franky commute by then, so it would be a simple enough matter for me to knock out Luke's lines while I'm in town.
Interview part 1.
-
I have to admit, I hated Patrick as Franky in the beginning, but I love him sooo damn much now.
-
Just so nobody askes, 'walla' is nonsensical background noise that is used during scenes with crowds.

Very good interview Bob! It seems you've learned alot from my past interviews after all :) However, I believe you should change the layout because it makes it look more proffesional :)
An example:

popeye armed, tall lock of hair, cyborg powered on cola. You don't run

Could be easily changed to (Your normal AP font and Patrick's green):

Also, it appears that you've lead him to believe that FUNi have Hellsing. It's best to tell him that they haven't…
And now since you've done part one, can I have his email please? I know that Colleen hasn't replied but maybe i'll have a better chance. I mean, I have actually met her and have interviewed 5 other actors now...
Good interview none the less :)

Okay, I'll send you Sonny's, Colleen's, and Patrick's ASAP.
Also, all the info I put in was from the people here, I didn't make anything up. It was all what was said in this topic, I really had no say in it.And I'll do the color thing too, I was just copying and pasting for part 1.

Awesome, I'm really diggin' Patrick. He has an awesome voice, my only regret is I don't own a Wii yet so I can't play UA. It's awesome that he did research on the character, love when people research their roles.

Yeah, don't worry, I don't have a Wii either. I just watched the gameplay vids that someone posted on YT.
Yeah, trying to think up a couple more questions to ask him for part 2.

After playing Unlimited Adventure a lot, I really got used to his voice. Now I love him as Franky, he's very fitting. I hope we get to see him in the dub soon.
