So hows Hiluluk's death speech?
He said he flat-out bites the dust mid sentence, supposed to be pretty shocking.
Can't wait.

@RPG:
when do u guys think we will have a raw of the movie. hopefully soon
In 5 months. We'll have to wait for the DVD to come out before we can get a decent raw.
yea, i remember getting 8's raw in june…...
@Roman:
.How come an awful Naruto or Bleach soundtrack can be downloaded one day after its release, but Tanaka Kouhei's magic cannot?
I know how you feel. That god awful Shippuuden ost was available everywhere right after the release date, while OP's osts always take so long.
Regarding the movie dvd, they usually are released late july, but last year that sample version leaked quite sooner (early june?), so yeah.
You can delete them yourself, in "Go Advanced"
That's true, thanks.
No offense guys, as awesome as the movie sounds, I hope FUNimation waits a few years before working on this movie. I mean it has major spoilers that could really take away the enjoyment of future arcs for potential fans. There's Franky, Thousand Sunny, Gear Second and Gear Third at least. Think it's better we focus on the other movies like 4:D Now that would be a good place to go next.
Funimation will officially suck if they dub this movie. Franky joinage and Merry ownage will be ruined.
And don't give me that "he was in the game" nonsense. I wouldn't even know that game existed if not for being in the One Piece online fandom.
Don't do it Funi
don't do it
Has this premiered yet, and if so, is there a sub yet?
The same can be said about Movie 8 and Movie 9. If not in the fandom you'd probably not know about them.
Do it, FUNi. Do it.
I doubt Funi would do that.
They probably dubbed Movie 8 because it was the newest movie, and it was familiar territory, even with 4Kids.
@Master:
I doubt Funi would do that.
They probably dubbed Movie 8 because it was the newest movie, and it was familiar territory, even with 4Kids.
By that logic, they'll definitely dub movie 9 next because it's the newest and it's familiar territory.
Not exactly. Movie 8 was Alabasta. That's it. A shortened version of an old arc. Nothing added like Franky and Thousand Sunny. Plus Gears 2 and 3.
One could argue that it doesn't matter because of UA, but not everyone has played UA.
The same can be said about Movie 8 and Movie 9.
What are you talkin' about? Movie 8 didn't spoil anything that the US hasn't gotten to..
except for 2 seconds Saul.. which isn't really anything big to begin with.
Movie 9 is a shortened version of an old arc too, just with things added in. Any logic we try to throw at this will fail, and vise versa.
I doubt FUNi is worried about spoilers, UA would not have been released if they were.
@Lobster: You said if not for the fandom you wouldn't have known about UA, I was saying the same applies to Movie 8.
Hardly anything was really revealed in UA, and it's just a video game. A movie is quite different mind you. And guys, the reason they dubbed movie 8 was because Toei told them to. Not because they're just that awesome in wanting to get us all of the new movies and whatnot only months after they come out.

The only thing that Movie 9 spoilers is Franky, whom American OP fans already know about because of UA.
@Lobster: You said if not for the fandom you wouldn't have known about UA, I was saying the same applies to Movie 8.
No? The same thing doth not apply, because the Arabasta arch already aired on TV for the dubbies.

No?..
It also spoils the death of the Going Merry. And hence, a huge quantity of the entire Water 7 arch tension. The majority of people aren't going to own that Wii game and won't be spoiled. But a big time movie spoiling all of the tention of Water 7? Franky not a villain? Their new ship? Franky joining?
Terrible more. Don't kill us Funi.
It will be a death blow

While I do see where you're coming from, and agree, I doubt it'll be up to Funi. Toei will probably forcibly hand them the movie rights saying they can't do anything else until they make it.
Personally, I want to hear more Patrick Seitz as Franky, plus it'd be nice to have a movie worth showing off. Movie 8 is better than nothing and I LOVE the dub, but I really want some of the other movies out here. According to Greg, 9 sounds like the absolute best movie to get people into OP.
The one thing you forgot Lobster, is that the movie is an alternate Universe. Dubbies are going to be confused anyway ("Wait! who's this speedo guy, he wasn't around in the original." and "Huh? Robin? why is she replacing Vivi here?" I seriously doubt they'll be thinking about future spoilers since to them, this'll be a different Drum Island anyway.
@Cain:
and "Huh? Robin? why is she replacing Vivi here?"
I am still asking myself that question
Why couldn't Toei be cool and include all three of them?
Sorry, but I don't see how a movie release is gonna ruin anything. Trust me, most fans who are unaware of these "spoilers" probably wont buy the movie or even know about it, but the ones who will have a large chance of already knowing this stuff.
You act like it's a mainstream movie which is gonna be opened in a shitload of theatres with made commercials. Toei will tell them to dub 9 the same way they did 8.
Sorry, but I don't see how a movie release is gonna ruin anything. Trust me, most fans who are unaware of these "spoilers" probably wont buy the movie or even know about it
Wrong. Practically all of the online dubbies from places like Toonzone or Tv.com don't know anything.
Franky's evil and the Going Merry bye bye are some of the top dramatic moments in the series.
It will spoil it
it will spoil it
Toei will tell them to dub 9 the same way they did 8.
I bet you twelve lifepoints that they won't.
wow, the movie looks awsome!!, but i was hoping to see odz in this movie :(
You guys haven't even seen the movie yet, and want it dubbed. It'll get dubbed eventually, and most likely if Toei pushed Movie 8 on Funi, they'd push this one do to it being the same fashion.
I like to point out that the "Death" of Merry is not explored in Unlimited Adventure, they're just riding Sunny. Dub Fans will just find it weird, and probably will either say, "Who's Franky? And they got the Ship wrong…"
But if your not caught up and you just play the game you will just think they traded Merry in for a new ship. 4kids never touched apon the idea that Merry is part of the crew as a crewmate, and at the moment besides Usopp's "Don't YOU KNOW HOW HE GOT THE SHIP" rants, the rest of the crew in the dub lately have mention, "We should get rid of it." Atleast Zoro and Sanji have mentioned it so far.
I think most people if they saw Movie 9 dubbed and played Unlimited Adventure, then they'll just be waiting in the dub, oh this must be when they get a new ship... Especially after last weekends epsiode where the Mass is gone, and the rutter is messed up. It'll keep them guessing no mater what.
Funi is very aware of the spoilers. Hence why Franky was no where NEAR adverstiments besides a few videoes on the internet.

How moronic do you think they are?
You're asking that?
So it would appear.

Actually. they might even think the Sunny is a more stylistic version of the Merry, like their new cloths in the game. Anyway Lobster, you'll be surprised how stupid some dubbies are. Many even think that 4KIDs and FUNimation produce(d) the show. And they won't have much to conclude after seeing Franky and the new ship anyway. Everything else is already so messed up and wierd that they'd just throw Franky right in the middle of it all. I do feel a bit conflicted though, in anycase I don't want anything being majorly spoiled for any of the smarted dub fans who will connect the dots when Water7 shows up. But I also really want to see this movie dubbed and hear more of Frankys dub voice, and start to think little of spoilers when I think of the things we've talked about so far.
Anyway Lobster, you'll be surprised how stupid some dubbies are.
Well, sure some are.. but 100%?.. -_-
Picture this:
-You are a Dragon Ball Z dubbie, watching the "Evil Vegeta" arch for the first time
-Right in the middle of it, Funi releases a DBZ movie with Vegeta in it, fighting on the good side. With him married to Bulma, and with a kid named Trunks.
I think that you could put 1 and 2 together..
Anyone posting something to the tune of:
"DON'T DO MOVIE 9! THINK OF THE DUB FANS!!!!111"
I sure as hell hope you don't read or post in the Spoiler thread. You're the biggest hypocrite the world has ever known if so.

Eh the person would be confused but they'd go online and figure it out.
Actually. To the people griping over "DON'T DO MOVIE 9! THINK OF THE DUB FANS!!!!111"
Who spoilered things for you? The company doing the dubbing?
Or some other fan overly excited, and BLURTING EVERYTHING TO YOU. I can point to every single person that's ever spoilered things to me about an anime.
Not one finger points to a company.
I think normal dub-watchers and the like will be fine if some overzealous idiot just keeps his/her yap shut.
Eh the person would be confused but they'd go online and figure it out.
Yes, but some dubbies desperately try to avoid spoilers, and go ballistic when exposed to them.

But then again, I don't really care anymore
Then stop posting.

Your reverse psychology is working
Releasing Movie 9 will be a terrible idea
Most people have the internet nowadays.
When they're a fan of something, they'll commonly go look for places about it on the net.
This leads to forums, such as this one.
By being on a fan forum of a series so far ahead of what you've seen, you'll be massively spoiled rather you want to or not within 5 minutes of browsing said forums.
In other words: YEEAAAAAAH…

Apparently you don't understand what I'm saying.
There are online fans of the english dub that know about other fourms. They know how to be spoiled.
However, they desperately try to avoid these places, and spoilers in general. They say that they wish to remain surprised while watching the English dub. They even get pissed if you mention a NAME of a future character, or if they even see a picture of them.
Such as alot alot of people on places like Toonzone, or Animation Insider.

For someone who doesn't care you sure post a lot.
Anyone who's not a complete fucking idiot stays away from movies that are new or released in any kind of order. If you haven't realized that majority of Japanese animated films released in order contain plot details or references from recently in the series, then you must be pretty goddamned thick-headed.
Here you are saying, "WE CAN'T RELEASE IT BECAUSE PEOPLE WILL BE SPOILED!", meanwhile you go and read spoilers every week yourself solely because you want to know what happens next as soon as possible regardless of whether or not you've even seen the images drawn by the author himself.
I'm a big protector of spoilers but there's a line when you need to stop playing babysitter for dipshits.
And just because YOU haven't heard of UA, does that mean every other fan hasn't?!
Goddamn! I've kept my mouth shut but I just can't take it anymore. If you're stupid enough to go see the film you DESERVE to be spoiled! Maybe then you'll learn to stick to the comic or at LEAST fansubbed animation before you go watching stuff from dozens of chapters later.

That's right. I personally don't care if I'm spoiled. Plus I'm basically caught up it the story. However, other people go crazy about it. I've seen people get extremely pissed over the slightest hinting of a spoiler.
Even at places like K-F, which is leagues in front of the Funimation dub. I once had a signature that just barely showed some of Spandam's face in it. Crossbones then got all pissed, and told me to remove it because it was a "spoiler"
I'm not saying that this stuff is reasonable. But there are people who can't stand others being/being spoiled themselves.
So it would be wiser for Funi to choose something 1-7, instead of something spoils the entire after effect of the Water 7 Arch.
Well, unless Toei orders them to
Doing movie 9 would also benefit due to the fact of no fansubs for it, so even the cheap brats who go "I can just download the fansub" would be interested.
@EvilGamerX:

I'm pretty sure that the fansubs will be out before Funi releases it.
Fan subers are generally.. always faster

I wonder what they'd choose, a bunch of ancient average movies or a RECAP OF AN OLD ARC, new movie that seems to be really good. Jeez gonna be so hard for them to make that decision.
And unless they directly say, Oh ya it's sad we ditched Merry and got Sunny along with our once despised enemy Franky as a crewmember all at water 7 after defeating cp9 at enies lobby starting a war against the world government, I really don't think that fans(Which I'm sure is composed of 8-12 year olds) wil feel nothing more than confusion.
Still don't care about the topic I see.
However, other people go crazy about it.
How about letting THEM worry about themselves. Not everyone needs a babysitter.
And so what if they get spoiled? It's their own fault! Not any company! What moron interested in a series that isn't caught up and CARES ABOUT SPOILERS wants to go see the most recent material?
i have to agree with greg here…although i gotta say arguing about how a company like funimation will handle spoilers seems a little out of place in this thread....anyway, i dont think funimation is gonna back track at this point, the are more likely to get caught up and release the other stuff along the way, getting caught up being their primary goal because they are working on the assumption that their target audience might have already seen everything 4kids had to offer, also they are not going to take into consideration the fact that someone "might" pick up a copy of movie 9 and "might" get pissed off because they find a crew member or two they didnt know about, the chances of that are slim and the target audience of american one piece probably wouldnt care anyway as someone stated earlier, feels like your just arguing for arguments sake here lobster, which is disappointing because normally your posts are very thought provoking

Haven´t checked the thread in ages so I´ll just ask directly. Is the movie out in theaters already or not?

Well, it was… For four days in February.
But it's been out on DVD for a few weeks.

Wut?
@Roman: This is movie 9's thread, not movie 8's.

Really, just four days? How come? Or were the other 8 movies also featured that shortly in theatres?
