Naruto Discussion III [Redux]

@Lobster:
humm
some people in the new Funi OP episode talkback thread are saying that Naruto vs. Sasuke fight had "horrific" animation… =/
Those people are what we call "idiots"
-
@Archibald:
What killed that fight for me, more than any of the other crap, was the emotional turmoil that the two characters were supposed to be feeling had nothing to support it. I can see why Sasuke thought Naruto was his best friend because Sasuke is an antisocial asshole who has no friends. Naruto and his fangirl brigade are the only ones who tolerate him so that makes sense.
But Naruto thinking of Sasuke like a brother? That makes no sense. I know Naruto's lonely and desperate for companions, but there's nothing there to indicate any kind of relationship above rivalry. The only thing I can think of offhand is where Sasuke rescued Naruto from Haku. After that, nothing. There's more signs that they hate each other than the opposite.
That's why Naruto's behavior now and during that fight baffled me. Rather than acting like the determined hero the author is supposed to portray him as he just comes off like a clingy bitch, a problem that has apparently exacerbated like a bad case of crabs.
As for the chapter itself, the best way this can end is that if the loser dies and the winner gets eaten by Zetsu. How it will most likely end:
Zetsu: Wow, he won without throwing a single punch. Amazing!
Me: Wow, he won without throwing a single punch. Gay!
Yeah pretty much agree with everything here.
Somehow Kishimoto expects us to buy that whole "but you're like a brother to me bububu" nonsense because he showed kid Naruto and kid Sasuke make these gay smirks after looking at each other once 5 years ago.
WOW WHAT A DEEP AND MOVING FRIENDSHIP
-
Can we please mock Sasuke's curse release for a while too? 'Cause damn, that shit looks like lame.
Kishimoto, of all the dragonball-related things that you "homage", why the fuck did you have to bring back the SSJ3 banana-hair? WHY?
-
@Geg:
Those people are what we call "idiots"
They're probably the same people who think the Funi dub is the best dub ever made and the dub of Naruto is terrible in a voice acting perspective.

I think that showed that the despite that they have some hatred against one another on the outside that deep inside they had respect for one another and with the things they've done (in story) that only furthered they're respect for one another.

Sakon & Tayuya had the worse of all.

nothing's worst than having giant fucking hands growing out your back
FUCKING SCIENCE
-
I love how in the Naruto and Sasuke fight they suddenly became "best friends". And what's with Naruto suddenly knowing how to fight? Best episode of the show if you ask me. And Sasuke's backstory over and over again was just annoying. We already know what happened and all they did was add some more melodrama crap to it.

ya…it always confused me when naruto stated that sasuke is like his brother, i was like..wtf? :wassat:
btw, i agree with everything u stated
-
Honestly, I thought the fighting stuff was just so bland and boring. It's like Kishimoto wasn't even trying. Naruto makes lots and lots of kage bushins. Whoop-dee-doo. And there's this one chapter in the manga where they're just jumping around, doing absolutely nothing, not even hitting each other. WTF? Where's all the hate, aggression, and violence? The anime only managed to pull that off in a filler scene.
-
nothing's worst than having giant fucking hands growing out your back
FUCKING SCIENCE
i actually liked that…thought it was quite original, unless someone can find me another manga with hand wings or something
-

Horns
We already know what happened
Not how his father held Itachi in such high regard, how Itachi got his Mangekyou Sharingan, how he learned the fireball jutsu(ughh),and his first encounter with Naruto.
-

It was really boring and uneventful, though.
And he still used and entire fucking chapter to show something we had already seen FUCKING TWICE. How the fuck do editors even allow shit like that?
-

ya…but still original...if not the ONLY original thing that happens in Naruto...
-
And what the heck is up with Sauske's transformation? Weird ass hair, super long nails, Hand-Wings??! and is that make-up?!
-
I liked the black lip gloss
It was a nice touch
-
@Sandai:

You just defined 'rivalry' not 'brotherhood'. We didn't need to see this to know they were rivals all the competition shit beforehand indicated that, not to mention Sasuke's hissy-fit upon Naruto's return. I get that they're rivals, but I can't even see 'friends' from anywhere in the manga.
And Sasuke didn't seem to respect Naruto at all until he was getting his ass beat Kyuubi-style on the border. And whatever respect existed there quickly went the way of his remaining masculinity as Sasuke basically curb-stomped Naruto physically and emotionally.
As for Sasuke's ridiculous transformation, it never bothered me that much. Yeah it makes him look more like a carnival sideshow than anything intimidating, but my favorite character in the manga is a schizoid venus-fly-trap man so who am I to judge.

Check back during the Forest Of Death bit when Naruto punched Sasuke after the latter loss the will to fight against Orochimaru.

There's good weird, and bad weird.
Sasuke's curse release was a bunch of weird ideas thrown together in a really haphazard and lame way, like Kishimoto didn't know what he was doing.
Plus, c'mon, SSJ3 hair is unforgivable.
-
Naruto and Sasuke probably DID have a brotherly relation develop. Kishi just used a time skip to get past having to write anythign remotely tough; only he didn't bother telling us. SLIPPED MY MINDS, WHOOPS.

Try looking at that weird guy that Byakuya fought in Bleach during the Huedo Mundo arc now that's lame.

There were some hints of it here and there, Kishi just really half-assed it, even thought it was essentially the most important aspect of the main storyline.
But just to play devil's advocate, you see them bonding a bit during the Asuma arc. And Sasuke showed respect for Naruto during the chunnin exam, particularly when they were fighting Orchimaru.
-
Also when they were chasing down Gaara. Nothing serious though, just what happened with Haku.
-
It still seems more like "I respect you as a rival" than a friendship or even brotherhood.
-
i actually liked that…thought it was quite original, unless someone can find me another manga with hand wings or something
Psshhh, mouthchest > handwings :p
Oh, wait… o_O
-
the lines on Itachi's face annoy me a lot
those are some serious deformities there
-

This.
What are they even there for? To define cheekbones?
Also, it's funny watching Episode 131 (just caught up an hour ago) and realizing all of the foreshadowing regarding the most recent chapter.
-
I think they're supposed to make him look…tired?
but they're so shittily done; it's just really distracting
-
I have them too. Am I a freak?
-
They may be there just becauase he'd look too much like Sasuke without them. At least back when Itachi was first introduced he looked a lot like Sasuke.
-
@Janken:
I have them too. Am I a freak?
Yes you are.
I mean if they're supposed to be cheekbones, why are they a perfect line?
-
Someone Stabbed An Illusion!?
In Naruto!?
-
@Janken:

if it looks like you drew them on with a Sharpie, then yes

he also has eyelashes
-
I didn't find chapter 385 to be too exhilarating. The only good part about it is that we get to know one of the consequences of using Mangekyou Sharingan.
-
Speaking of freaks in Naruto, why has tentacles not been mentioned.
-
So, forgive the ubershitty scan quality, but I think it'll be enough to prove my point. It's from Shinichi Hiromoto and Takeshi Narumi's Yousai Gakuen/Fortified School (it's been published only in Italy, as for the West)

Original (?) Handwings

I guess since mangafan is not around, I have to step up my duties.
I thought it was pretty obvious that Sasuke and Naruto were best friends. Sasuke was willing to die for him 3 times before that. During the Haku fight, during the itachi fight and during the Gaara fight, he even called Naruto and Sakura his precious comrades or something along those lines.
Sasuke is a loner but he had strong bonds with Naruto. I thought that was pretty clear throughout the manga. Me and my sister fight, argued and teased each other alot growing up. I would kill for her and I would die for her. I dont get the little boy mentalitly people show here that you cant argue or fight with someone you care deeply for. Hell, that is what siblings do alot when they are younger. And Sasuke and Naruto were pre-teens for Christ sakes.
They been through alot with each other, they obviously bounded and I dont see anybody else who was more friends to each other in this manga then those 2. They just had a different relationship then say Chouji and Shikamaru.
-
@ Anbu: It was in response to the posts about the originality of Sasuke's handwings.

Please tell me your not trying to compare inter-relation spats with village betrayal life risking international scandal selfishness.
-
Nope, discussing a relationship. Relationships are relationships. And they all relate, now matter how big or small or how important or unimportant they are.
Betrayal is the same. They all have the same basic elements: money, power, and love(lust). No matter the scale. That is human nature.
And to your comment…..Naruto and Sasuke had inter relation spats as you called them. I was proving the relationship they had were much like siblings. And that the author showed through the course of the story that they did have feelings for each other. I dont see how you can refute that.
edit: Zephos, your comment had nothing to do with my argument about sasuke and naruto having a friend/sibling relationship. Even if your comment made a good point (which it didnt), it still wouldnt affect their prior relationship before the "betrayal".
edit 2: Also remember even though this is just a manga and it is a work of fiction, that doesnt mean that the story base is any different than real life. No matter how crazy the story is real or fake, the one constant in them are relationships and people. Relationships are simple and people act differently. It doesnt matter if you are the gang leader of the southside crips or the president of the United States. Like us people in law enforcement say it, crimes and situations came be complex but the reason for it is always something simple. Same with relationships.

I see you've taken to writing piles and piles of redundant text to make up for the fact that all you have to defend the tiresome butt chasing is "totally realistic man". Like it or not Part 2 is part of the discussion. Constantly falling back on "WELL PART 1 PART 1 PART 1" is missing the point.
What the hell do you think were hating on?Mangafan could have done better than that, and thats saying quite alot.
-
Itachi's skin creases are just there so his face doesn't look exactly like 902750349753940 other characters.
-
Haha, you guys aren't even trying anymore.
-
Someone Stabbed An Illusion!?
In Naruto!?
Yeah, that's what I don't get.
I could understand using Illusions in defense, but why is Sasuke offesively using illusions to attack itachi(whom is also an illusion)
Oh I can't wait until they fight the eyes of the super perfect immortal being.
-

Too much plastic surgery.
-

So you're trying to argue against our assessment that the feelings they have for eachother don't make any sense by basically saying "THEY HAVE FEELINGS FOR EACH OTHER"
This is compelling.
-
There isn't really any proof that they had a worthwhile relationship other than the obvious fact that Kishimoto expects us to believe that they did. "I'VE GOTTA SAVE SASUKE, I'VE GOTTA SAVE SASUKE" is supposed to be our 'proof' of it.
-
I always thought that Sauce and Naruto's friendly rivalry was supposed to be representative of their growing relationship and that they inspire and bring out the best in each other. I believe that's what Naruto went by them having a "brotherly" relationship and I just kinda assumed they developed other bonds in between missions or some other shit.
Been a minute since I watched the Chunin Arc, so it's probably just my early morning BS I usually spout.
-
Gohn and me are obviously brothers because we often bicker online.
ILL SAVE GOHN KUN FOR YOU KIDANY CHAN
-
I will help because he is my arlong park comrade
