Most of the hype around Soul Calibur II was OMG LINK LINK LINK LINK, but I still thought it was a pretty good game
Games you hate that are loved by everyone.
-
-
I guess I was lucky enough to get none of the hype about Soul Calibur 2. I heard about it way after it was released and picked it up for $20. To this day, I still love playing it, and not just because it has Link.
-
@Cap'n:

PS2 one was also far superior
Heihachi was a fucking beast
3 is where I felt the series dropped off
-
Yea.
I know a couple SC players, and their main problem with SC3 is that is played more like a tekken(Tekken 4 to be precise) than a soul calibur.
and 4 is looking no better. (No new gameplay details yet, but we're rendering Taki's nipples under her shirt. = D)
-
Yeah, I got the PS2 version of SC2 as well. Heihachi is the fucking man.
And another thing about SC3… what the fuck kind of retards make the arcade release AFTER the console release? And the 1-player mode was all kinds of awful.
-
Another thing I always disliked about the Soul Caliber games is the final bosses, you expect someone awesome and you get either a lame Copycat, or whatever the fuck that was at the end of SC3….i mean blegh
-
Oh, how could I forget WoW.
-
Mega Man: Nearly everyone I know loves this series and I've played a few too. But I could never really get into it.

That and all others like it.

And they're all made of FIRE!!!!
-
what a big disappointment spawn turned out to be in soul calibur II
-
The fact that Spawn even exists is a major disappointment
-
whats wrong with spawn?
Is that virtuoso silver guy considered the final boss in virtual fighter?
Cause if it is he's the worst ever.
-
@Cap'n:
And they're all made of FIRE!!!!
wait the SC3 guy was on Fire aswell…
-

This statement stands for everything I don't.

Wut? Just about every PS2 version of a three-way multisystem game turned out to be ass in terms of graphics and how the game handled itself.
I didn't care for either of the three exclusive characters. I just know that the PS2 version was INFERIOR to the GC and Xbox versions.
Also, I found the character creation for SCIII to be great. :(
Mega Man: Nearly everyone I know loves this series and I've played a few too. But I could never really get into it.
Explain which Mega Man.
There's MM, MMX, MM Legends, MM Battle Network, MM Zero, MM ZX…
Anything but every MM and the first three MMX games are unacceptable as being called "Mega Man" games. :(
-

heheheheheh HAHAHAHAHA
the PS2 had so many things going for it
Its Controller at the time was the only one really fit with playing fighting games
Better exclusive character
and I didn't notice a drop in the graphics or play speed so that was purely second to me
-
Yeah, people who whine about PS2's graphics are a bore. It's controller is like 50x better for fighters than Gamecube's anyway
and the character creation feature was pretty lame.
-
@Radical:
whats wrong with spawn?
He's a nasty combination of most things wrong with american comics.
-
@Cap'n:

I'm gonna have to agree with you there.
Try playing a Gamecube fighter with a D-Pad the size of a marshmallow (and not those big puffy ones, either). Deadly Alliance (rented it once) on the Cube with only the D-Pad was all kinds of hell. -
@Cap'n:
Yeah, people who whine about PS2's graphics are a bore.
Except it's NOT just the graphical drop but also when the game starts to lag up, causing the frame rate to drop. Take Sonic Heroes for example. Crap game, sure, but the GCN and Xbox counterparts were always rated higher than the PS2 version.
-

okay now name a good game where that happens? lulz reviews
-
Crap game, sure, but the GCN and Xbox counterparts were always rated higher than the PS2 version.
by like .2 points
and most reviews are bullshit anyways.
-
the madden series.
what so great about a Football game anyways? -

Honestly, my interest in what reviewers have to say about a game is between 0% and 0%.
In this case, all that matters is my experience with the game.
And i had no problems with the PS2 versions of pretty much anything.
so what I'm getting at is u suk
-
Yeah, still got my PS2 copy of SCII. Played the Gamecube version at a cousin's house, don't know what you mean about lag, cuz from my experience, there is none on either system. It's easier to just say you hate PS2, since that's clearly what your real beef is.
-
the madden series.
what so great about a Football game anyways? They're alot of fun.
If you like football.
I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for a new one every year. I either burn a copy or just play my friend's.
and yea, I wouldn't pay attention to reviews simply because most of them are either biased or bribed anyways.
-
Those evil reviewers! I go pretty much 100% by what they say. Those few times I haven't listened them I have regretted it badly anyway.
Madden games are quite fun. I think the last one I had was 2004 edition. Yeah, no use to buy a new version every year unless you are a hardcore fan but they are usually quite solid, perhaps even best sport games out there. And it's not like I would be a big fan of the sport itself, I ain't a yank.
-
All last gen controllers were garbage for fighting games anyway, buy arcade sticks you male reproductory organ devourers.
-
I never did like arcade sticks. I could always play much better with a controller.
-
Yeah, same.
I typically like pads more, I always thought joysticks were a pain in the ass.
-
okay now name a good game where that happens?
Battle Stadium D.O.N (Longer loading times, graphics less polished than GCN version)
Max Payne (Frame rate and texture issues)
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne (Same as first Max Payne)
Mega Man Anniversary Collection (Emulation problems)
One Piece Grand Adventure (Long loading times, graphics less polished than GCN version)
One Piece Grand Battle (Same as GA)
Resident Evil 4 (Visuals toned down, FMVs altered to be actual videos rather than using in-game models in real time cut scenes)
Sonic Mega Collection Plus (Emulation problems)
Spider-Man 2 (Frame rate issues)
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (Texture and frame rate issues)And that's for only some of the good and decent games. Point is, that when there were games released on all three or between two consoles, the PS2 version was usually regarded as the lesser version compared to the other two due to dated technology. Yes, the PS2 is capable of pulling out some stunning stuff when it has games made specifically for it, but not when it comes to games that included the other two consoles in mind.
-
The majority of those were collections and more bad games.
and again, loading times and slightly worse graphics aren't that big of a deal to most people.
I know I didn't mind/notice them in the PS2 one piece games.
-
Any Need for Speed game, Armored Core, Fable, Dead or Alive, Metroid games, Any Kirby game except the amazing Kirby Crystal Shards
-

Star Wars: Bounty Hunter (Texture and frame rate issues)These games are shit anyway so who cares
And my Mega Man Anniversary Collection worked fine and had a TEE VEE show on it
-
Whether you thought the games sucked or not is irrelevant. The fact still stands that the PS2 versions are inferior on a TECHNICAL LEVEL. :\
-
The Wii must be on the same inferior level since it used the FMVs on Resident Evil 4 that the PS2 had.
Or, sometimes, developers can get lazy with ports.
-
This topic has 8 pages, and most probably consists of what I'm about to type, but it still stands.

♪SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT!!! MEGA MAN!!!♪
♪SUPER FIGHTING ROBOT!!! MEGA MAN!!!♪But anyways, regarding MMAC, I didn't get any emulation problems. From what I gather, the sole reason why people prefer PS2 version of the game over the Gamecube version was due to the fact that Capcom thought it was a good idea to place the jump and shoot commands on "B" and "A" respectively.

Actually the Wii edition had real time cutscenes during the game. Except for the movie browser, but that's self explanatory.
-
The Wii version still didn't have real time cutscenes for the PS2 outfits, but that's largely because Ashley's suit of armor would clip horribly in some of the scenes.

Ouch you really bought up some painful memories.
-
All I know is that when I played with the other costumes, Leon was suddenly in his original. So.. yeah.
-
Leon keeps his Costume 1 set in cutscenes, but not the Costume 2 set.

CORRECTION:
Halo,Madden, & Most games on the Wii.
-
the Halo series takes this
Soooooooooooooooo overrated.
I actually like Twilight Princess more than Ocarina of Time. Everyone craps their pants when I say that in public though.
-
If that just isn't the most agreeable argument that anyone has ever made
about something that's bad'y Overrated,Overstated, & Underwhelming
everybody bragging abot how it took more money than Spider-Man 3 and Harry Potter & the Deathly Hollows eventhough they the realize the fact
the Halo 3 is video game ,whereas the latters were a movie and a book
and with the fact that seem want to report only on how much money the game made domesticallly and only domestically that's why I can't wait til April. -
So one is a book and the other is a movie. And? Still doesn't mean that there was a big uproar in being an overwhelmingly quick and high selling piece of entertainment.
And obviously the sales only matter domestically. Japan doesn't care much for first person shooters and Bungie is residing in America. Not Europe or Australia. 3.3 Million units sold is an astounding amount sold by the end of September considering when it came out.
However, do not take this wrong. I too feel Halo is incredibly overhyped and that there are far better FPS games out there (such as Call of Duty 4).
