The Prince of Tennis has underaged smoking edited, as well as Dragon Ball Z (guns turned into lasers) and all middle fingers are edited out in T or A rated titles.

Oh right…..and they edited the cross rock that Greed was tied to in FMA.....not to mention Chocoloves lips in Shaman King....:getlost:

If in Dragon Ball Z they edited Guns into Laser will they do the same to One piece?
Obviously not…since you know...they've already showed unedited guns.
Have there been any art edits to One Piece?
No I never saw un edited Guns, but we are about to enter the Alabasta arc, which by the way has major Gun use.
Why would they start editing guns in Arabasta if they haven't for the past 16 volumes?
Laser make sense in futuristic DBZ but no sense in One Piece….so they probably wont.
@Kitsune::

They edited the L in on the "Loguetown"-sign into an R, to match their own spelling. And they obviously redrew the sound-effects. They will propably edit Ace's tattoo later on, too, as I heard that Oda used a different design for Whitebeard's flag at first, and then changed it later.
I can't say I mind the change to the source of Lee's power up. Sure it's a shame it has been changed but I understand why - Naruto is popular with young kids and Viz feaed they may try to imitate his drunken kung-fu (any kid dumb enough to do so would get what they deserved if you ask me but not everyone feels that way). Annoying but I'll still read it as drunken kung-fu instead of whatever Viz called it.

They didn't edit Gokuderu's underaged smoking in REBORN! And there is heavy weapons use in that manga.
True, but Reborn is considered "Shonen Jump Advanced" and recommended for 16s and up. By their logic, it's OK for heavy weapon use and under age smoking so long as the series has a higher age rating.
not to mention Chocoloves lips in Shaman King….:getlost:
What's strange is that 4Kids left the lips in the anime.
Come to think of it, Chocolove first appeared in the Shaman King dub right around the time the old One Piece dub started. Weird that 4Kids recolors a potentially offensive character that appeared in a few scenes in one show, yet leaves another potentially offensive character that's in half the series alone.
Easier to recolour a few scenes then many?
LAZY BASTARDS! =P
Dragon Ball Z is rated A for All Ages, that is why the guns and violence is edited, not to mention nudity.
In YGO a crucifix was changed and so are the middle fingers.
@LC:
"Do more with Luffy and the gang?"
Jesus tap-dancing christ, VIZ! How vauge can you people get?
Looks like I really will have to submit multiple letters now.
I skimmed through the magazine today. It's pretty clear that they're planning on doing more of those little articles for the series like the interview they did with the Anime Directors.

Those little articles were too little though. I got so excited when I saw the interview page, then dissapointed at the article's length and at the questions Viz asked.
Viz did say they'll be doing more with One Piece soon. Hopefully thats true.
So what does the One Piece anime interview say anyways?
I finally got volume sixteen, and It was a pretty good one overall. I think Wapol even used a 'wa ha ha' laugh at some point. And the sound effect DON, as opposed to DOOM, was used behind Jango on a coverstory page.
There was a typo though. Instead of "You must be that abominable snowman I've heard about," Dr. Hiriluk said: "You must be that abominable snowman I've head about."
I also looked through the Dec. Shonen Jump. It had Chopper battling Chessmarimo. I never realized it was only about a chapter long battle. So Chopper of course used 'Boosts' and also Rumble.
So what does the One Piece anime interview say anyways?
Viz asked extremely standard questions like "How similar is the anime to the manga?" and "What would you say people who want to become animators?"
The interview continues in the January issue, so maybe there'll be more worthwhile questions next month.

This is why I never read Shounen interviews.

Fingers crossed.
I was looking through the SBS in Vol 16 and noticed they used the term "Pirate King". While I don't mind "King of the Pirates" (though I feel "King of Pirates" sounds better) could it be a sign that they may change back to "Pirate King" or just a typo?
Fingers crossed.

Like some have said before, the two are pretty interchangeable so whoever wrote the translation for this SBS probably decided to use Pirate King for space issues, or some other reason.

They'll probably talk about things like the uncut DVD sets, the Alabasta movie, and Unlimited Adventure in the magazine, basically anything Funimation is doing with the Anime. It'll just be another uneventful year for the manga in 2008 though.

You never know. I'm putting all my faith in this new dub to raise the popularity of One Piece in the States.

It's not that surprising. Viz mosty uses 'King of the Pirates', but every so often will use 'Pirate King'.
4Kids on the other hand only used 'King of the Pirates'. The only time I ever heard 'Pirate King' in that dub was in the rap opening for Grand Battle.

As am I. I'm definitely sure the new dub will bring loads of new fans into the series. I can't see why it would not.

I could see the series only getting only marginally more popular. It's not like "One Piece" is a new series, people saw it the first time through 4Kids, didn't get into it, and moved on. For it to get loads of new fans there'd need to be strong word-of-mouth and some good promotion from FUNimation/Toei Animation/VIZ.

They actually used "pirate king" a few times for the 4Kids dub. For instance, during Alabasta, Bon Clay says to Luffy "Is that the voice of the future pirate king?".

I've talked to some that have avoided the 4kids dub entirely becuase of how awful it was, but now love it once the Funi episodes started. So that says something I would think. It's nice to see people actually give it a second chance.

I'm not saying it can't happen, just pointing out that I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't get a noticeably greater amount of popularity with the FUNi dub.

Well I can agree with that. I mean it's not like I'm expecting One Piece to become as big as Naruto after the whole 4kids thing. I'm just happy that it's getting more fans and viewers in. So at least people are taking notice.
They put that "Naruto is drinking rootbeer." to cover their asses, didn't they? I found that so fricken amusing.
What's worse (well funnier) is that in volume 24 Drunk Lee drinks a "private potion" insted of Sake and is a master of the potion punch, insted of the drunken fist.
I never really followed Yu-Gi-Oh, tho I watched it every now and then on TV. But I read the ending and…..seemed pretty crap, I mean it just ends with them standing looking at the sun....
Then again, I prefer many of my endings to have "aftermaths".

Okay, that's sad…I can't believe they couldn't say he was drinking "sake". Saying that he's a master of potion punch is lame...
I bet all the Naruto fans are bitching up a storm and Viz is getting 150,000 death threats a day.

Well Atemu went to the after life after 1500 years of being trapped in a puzzle. I think that's reason enough for them to just look at the sun.
so naruto's manga's going to the shitter…... faboo~! tho i am a fan.
potion punch?..........that's pretty bad.
I bet all the Naruto fans are bitching up a storm and Viz is getting 150,000 death threats a day.
I wouldn't say that much, but yeah they aren't going ot walk away from this unscathed.

Yes they got 5 hundred of these.
This is major stuff.
I think narutards go to far.
I don't know what is worse - you putting that much effort into making fun of them or your intentionally bad grammar.

Hey now, I was shuddle unlike him.
(Shuddle….suddle...dammit, I can't find the correct spelling for this word!)

Actually the anime version of the finale is a bit nicer: Kaiba actually watches the ceremonial duel instead of appearing for no reason whatsoever at the end and they sort of have a "life goes on" epilogue. I think that at this point, Takahashi just wanted to end it since he pretty much was at the end of the story's line anyway. (even if he did character designs and maybe early concepts for YGO GX)

But they practically raped all the stuff prior to that. Seriously, 70% of the stuff the anime did made no sense at all. This includes possessing Honda, a Zork VS Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon fight, Atem having a Triple Millennium Contact Fusion with Chaos Soldier and Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, a random fight in Kul Elna with random Egyptian-themed monsters…The list goes on.
The anime just added a lot of unnecessary fluff. It was like they were trying to appease all those who wanted to see all the characters again.
And Takahashi-sensei works along with Itou-sensei and Kagemaru-sensei on the YGO R and GX mangas respectively in the storyboarding process. So, it's not like he completely denies those two even exist like some people think.
I went to School today and my Freinds were talking about Naruto. One of them said Chouji dies after he beats the other fat dude…..then one says Neji Dies......then another says Kiba commits suicide.I said that they do not Die,I told them I read the manga. Then one says That the Manga is Different from the Anime so two different story lines.WTF.
I did not want to Argue about something that I knew I was going to win so I started talking about one piece new dub.....They like the other Dub better.
moral of the story Masturbating ruins your brain.
Fingers crossed.

I pretend Viz calls it Pirate King just like I pretend they call Kuro`s Cat out of the bag as Death Scoop.
I bet all the Naruto fans are bitching up a storm and Viz is getting 150,000 death threats a day.
Good think that Mikami isn't a Naruto fan :silly:
