It was the Q & A as well as the actual video clip snuck in that were asked to be pulled, if I'm not mistaken.
Why did they ask to have the Q&A pulled? They're just asking questions …
Unless they accidentally let something slip? shrugs

@Ao:
I don't think he's saying they shouldn't, I think he's saying they probably WON'T because as part of the "americanization" process of most dubs, they tend to cut out anything that the audience may see as weird or strange. The Japanese tend to prefer quirky things,but in america, I guess they're afraid stuff like that will turn people off. Which is why they've edited/changed some of the laughs already in the manga when they didn't really need to. Anything that may temporarily confuse people seems to be bad. Which is a big reason they're probably gonna just translate all the french, spanish, italian and japanese attack names.
Well, that's because Viz is a dumbass. I mean, they changed Arlong's "Sha ha ha ha!" and Wapol's "Hippo" dialouge. Viz is almost as weird as 4kids sometimes. Sha ha ha isn't that weird of a laugh and they put notes on other Japanese things, so why can't they put one for Wapol?

Viz has lost their minds, as of late.
-Changing Nefertari to Nefeltari
-Karoo (yea, Carue was never romanized, but "karoo" just looks dumb, and looks like Kangaroo)
-Changing Tin Plate Pirates to Tyrant Pirates
-All of their spelling errors
-Giving Luffy a 100,000,000,000 billion berry BountyI guess they just don't care anymore
-
Carue and Karoo sound exactly the same. Please, for everything that is good and decent, don't tell me you're complaining about that. -_-
-

I know they sound the same. I'm just saying it looks dumb, printed in the manga.
It's like spelling One Piece, Won Peace.
Actully, no. It's like spelling Jyabura, Jeyahboorah. Sure it could be that way. But it could also be a way that doesn't look horrible.
-
…I have always spelled Karoo Karoo.
-
@The:
I've heard of channels like "Anime Network" but I don't get them in my area so they must not be a big deal. Production companies like Funimation really need to find other channels to put their shows on.
Funimation actually has its own channel, but where I live, it's on late at night, only shows their older shows that aren't airing on Cartoon Network, and the channel number is in the nine-thousands.
-
@Lobster:

Technically, "Jyabura" is also incorrect.
-
Who started to spell Jabura like that anyway? Some subbers?
-
Technically, "Jyabura" is also incorrect.
Really? Was it ever romanized? Anyway, I used to spell it Jabura, untill someone corrected me. But still, atleast it doesn't look dumb, like Viz's choice of romanization for Carue. What they did is th equivalent to writing "Geyahborah".
…I have always spelled Karoo Karoo.
Really? I've only seen Viz use "Karoo". 4Kids used Carue. Every fan-subber uses Carue. English scanlations use Carue. One Piece games use Carue. Plus, One Piece fans in generall type Carue. The only time in my life I have seen "Karoo" was in a Viz manga I bought. Well, I suppose we should be thankful that they didn't make it "Kaloo".
Sigh… why am I even talking about this Roman Mack? You've gotten me off on another tangent line.
**BACK ON TOPIC~** I love the font Funi is using for the title sequences. =) ![](http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/4214/vlcsnap1688297su8.png) EDIT: Wait… "Mock Town, the **Town** of ridicule"? I thought it was "Mock Town, the **City** of Ridicule". A bit redundant I gues, but ohh wellz. (sorry if I sound like a _hater_ right now D= I really am exited over the Funi dub, it's just that… right now I'm studying for a bio lab exam; and studying for bio lab exams cause me go on rants about absolutely nothing at anime forums)
-
@Lobster:
-Changing Tin Plate Pirates to Tyrant Pirates
-Giving Luffy a 100,000,000,000 billion berry BountyWhat the hell? :blink:
-
@Really:
What the hell? :blink:
Viz called Wapol's crew the "Tin Tyrant Pirates" and accidentally typed Luffy's bounty during the Little Garden arc as 300 Million. I have no idea where he got the 100 billion thing.
-

Yeah, that's one of the mistakes they made.
-

Viz makes little mistakes like that all the time.
I'd say one of 'em, but then I'd be going off-topic cuz it isn't One Piece. -
@Lobster:
EDIT: Wait… "Mock Town, the Town of ridicule"? I thought it was "Mock Town, the City of Ridicule".
A bit redundant I gues, but ohh wellz.that's it… the dub's going to suck, Im not watching
kidding
-
@Lobster:
EDIT: Wait… "Mock Town, the Town of ridicule"? I thought it was "Mock Town, the City of Ridicule".
Well, I would hope that's the title because you know Mock Town is obviously a … town.
-

Oda romanized it as "Jabra". Have fun with that.
-
Oda romanized it as "Jabra". Have fun with that.
See? This proves my point even further. That way works also. But regardless, even if Viz romanized it as Jyabra, it would be fine as well, because it doesn't look lame, like Karoo does. Lame would be a "Geyaburah or Karoo" type romanization.
@Quexinos:that's it… the dub's going to suck, Im not watching
kiddingHaha ^^ 2 days people!!
Are you phyched!?
Yea, let's all watch this to get phsyched for the new Funi dub!! :O
^Man, this guy is the coolest ever
Well, I would hope that's the title because you know Mock Town is obviously a … town.
Nope. Mock Town is a town inside the City or Ridicule, which is on the Island of Jaya, which is located in the Grand Line.
-
The only town located in a city is Chinatown.
Calling Mock Town the City of Ridicule is like calling Chicago the Windy City. It's not its true name, but it's another way to refer to it.
-
I thought Mocktown was the City of Ridicule.
-
Who cares if its city or town were lucky that Funi used the original titles to begin with. 4kids would've used a title like teasing town or something retarded like that.
-
The Town of Chuckles?
Because making fun of people is too intense for little kids.
-
Guys, Lobster is just being an idiot.
Mock town is a TOWN, and it is NOT inside any bigger city.
Also, when was a new video posted?
-

I'm glad I wasn't the only person that saw the illogic.
-

There was a video with that title screen, but it was maybe one second long, if that.
-
And all you heard from it was Luffy reading the "cule" from Ridicule.
-
Here's the pic again.
-

But the original title is: "Stop Dreaming! The City of Ridicule, Mock Town!" Maybe the nickname of Mock town is "the City of Ridicule". Or the nick name of the City or Ridicule is Mock Town?
Regardless, I was just saying that "Mock Town", the "Town of Ridicule" sounds a bit too repetative and redundant.you.. posted it again? ^^; The other one is still there…
-
and the channel number is in the nine-thousands.
Well, too late to make a joke about it, but I'm surprised that no one did .
Anyway, only 2 more days until the funny dub :cheerful:! That's too long a wait though :sad:. Can't wait too here the dub, it sounded perfect from the clip we got.
And about the dubbed openings. I never realized that Funi dubbed most of their openings. I liked the DB English opening more than the original, but I never realized the YuYu Hakusho's opening was dubbed. It sounded so good, I assumed that it was the original. And I prefer them dubbing the openings than creating their own. The different angles on the DVD's for different openings and the original title are a good idea too. Does Funi do this with all their DVDs?
-
Correction, that's KF's translation of the title. That by no means makes it the original and official translation. You know how fickle Japanese to English is. It could proboally be translated a number of ways.
-

They called her "Nefeltari in the singapore english dub too. Also, for reasons that escape me, they referred to Carue as Karo.
Yeah….........
-
@Lobster:
But the original title is: **"Stop Dreaming! The City of Ridicule, Mock Town!"
No. No it's not. That's Kaizoku Fansubs' _TRANSLATION of the original title.
JUST BECAUSE K-F DOES SOMETHING, DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE RIGHT.
@Kairouseki:
The different angles on the DVD's for different openings and the original title are a good idea too. Does Funi do this with all their DVDs?
They most certainly do._**
-
I would make a comment but dyth may shit all over the place. So I'll hold my opinion on taking their translations as something to be quoted.
-
No. No it's not. That's Kaizoku Fansubs' TRANSLATION
JUST BECAUSE K-F DOES SOMETHING, DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE RIGHT. of the original title.
^^; Doesn't mean they are wrong either. I didn't know it was K-F's anyway. I looked it up on Wikipazetia~
Plus my only point was that it sounded redundant. …well atleast in my voice. -
Excuse me. I had to resort to an online dictionary instead of my handy dandy JquickTrans since I'm at work, but here's a little breakdown.
"Azakeri no machi Mock Town!" is the romanization of the second line of that title's episode. As "azakeri" is ridicule, and I'm assuming you know enough of Japanese to know what "no" is, then you'd know "machi" is the word in question.
So.
No Funi promo in sight? I'm sad.
-
Like I said… don't expect one to come about...
-

Their English opening/ending for Fruits Basket is awesome too.
And extremely catchy.
-
Jesus, guys. The translation is basically the same thing. Like RomanGod said, there's many different ways to translate the title. Just because K-F translates it like that doesn't mean they're OFFICIAL subbers. They're FAN subbers. But overall, they're the same thing. You guys are making a mountain out of a molehill. >_>
-
More like making a mountain over a pile of dog shit. >_>
-
-
^You should put it as your sig.
-
I got an idea. Lets stop talking about Ridiculous and trivial things.So I like the font and stufff..it looks just like the original. Man just 2 days..cant wait to hear Hikari E,Oh yeah, this week I got like 5 people to watch One Piece this week!To that Karoo thing, I like Karoo and stuff, OPGA says Karoo, Carue looks like Kah Roo Eh to me.K's are nice…(Now I'm talking about trivial things)Whered that Mock Town episode title card come from? A video??

A video that was 1 second long, yes
-
Well THAT was pointless.
-
Well THAT was pointless.
But we DID get to see pretty text and hear Luffy go "cule" :p
-
I never saw the Jaya arc, but I do agree that "Mock Town" sounds better.
Also, you won't believe what I just saw. I was watching my Odex VCDs of Little Garden, and Mr. 3 is talking to Miss Goldenweek. Mr. 3 clearly says Miss Goldenweek, but those stupid subtitles call her "miss golden pizza."
I know thats a bit unrelated, but I though it was funny.
-
You really gotta stop those off-topic posts…
-
.o Holy … another FUNi dub can be seen on Gaia now. >.< Please, FUNi, show us some One Piece!
-
Elaborate! I can't wait for the DVDs and the new One Piece games. I still wonder how FUNi will handle scenes where people are point blank range with a gun.
