none of the negatives affects the same part of the sentence. they dont counteract each other as is the case with double negatives. (although i think the part after the comma is missing a few words)

if he had said "no two people with the same Devil Fruit can't exist" that would have been a double negative as the "can't" affects the "no" in "no two people"

i highly doubt that vegapunk gets his hands on all the fruits shown in the DF compendium sanji is talking about. if that was the case all DFs would imo have gone to the marines instead of ending up in the hands of pirates such as blackbeard, absolom and possibly brook. (the fruits that is most likely to havebeen identified before they were eaten)

Also there is no proof that GDR had any DF. for all we know his cuffs were wooden when he went to be executed. if he had any DF he would have needed seastone to neutralize any such power imo.

Sry, maybe I should of said I was J/p on the quadruple negative thing (but the second part of his sentence did have a double negative [not and never are in the same fragment], which is why I even said it :P).

Also, it doesn't neccesarily have to be just Vegapunk who got his hands on it (the marines may have other scientists).

Some DF's may have been in the marine's custody but were stolen or smuggled out or some shit, however, now that I think of it, most of them appeared in that book probably through legends and speculation.

On-Topic: Gold Roger better have a pretty good back story for why he was caught and allowed himself to be executed, and a Devil Fruit may indeed be involved.

I think he was just super strong like Norland and perhaps Whitebeard. Super Strength can defeat most devil fruits, including Eneru, considering that even the ones that were no super human (Gan Fall, many skypeians, Lucky..) survived the shocks of Eneru, and if let's say, someone enough powerful to split the sky (Whitebeard) could do something even more crazy like creating a thypoon of ridiculous proportions, then Eneru would be either absorbed by the water or suffer from a short circuit. Hell, Eneru, like Crocodile, had a huge advantage, mainly because both of them were away from the greatest source of their lethal weakness, the sea.

And speaking of Norland, don't you think botanics like him began the stuff of drawing devil fruits before people ate them? That would make sense, considering how explorers like him apparently played a big role on the One Piece world.

also i find it somehow hard for anyone to successfully imagine that a banana shaped fruit would turn you into a giraffe. (ofc they didnt infact do that as Kakus fruit was unknown)

btw: if Vegapunk is the source of the compendiums knowledge about devilfruits why didnt they know about the 2 CP9 got?

(how long has vegapunk been working for the goverment if the compendium was out when Sanji was a kid already? i got the impression that he only recently started working from coby… meh might be wrong about that.)

I don't really get the whole DF thing myself. There's a book documenting what each fruit does, but how do they know what each fruit does without eating it? I mean, what happened? Absalom ate the fruit and was nice enough to tell the World Government and then became a Pirate?

IMO Oda has done a bit of retconning and I'm not so sure the ''no two same DF users can exist'' thing holds water anymore. I think perhaps maybe no two DF users can exist at the same time, meaning when one dies another Fruit grows somewhere.

I'd be pissed if he did. Part of his appeal for me is that he could be such a badass and become Pirate King without any DF powers. I'm hoping there's also a fair amount of strong guys in the New World who don't have DFs. At first DFs were supposed to be a myth, then rare, and now they're almost common.

Kazidoom: think that is because its so hard to leave the Grandline. most DFS seem to pop up inside the boundries of the clam belts. so the DFS are still rare and ledgendary in the blues while they are considerably more frequent in the GL

I'm pretty sure after nearly 250 chapters with WB being talked about and being seen occasionally, the devil fruit would be revealed, but maybe thats just me.
It would pretty much ruin the Strongest Man in World title, if he was so strong because the devil fruit did all the work.

Well, you forget that Roger did have a Crew. I mean, for Arabasta-Luffy it would have been impossible to hurt Mr.1 with simple Gomu-Gomus, but he happened to have Zoro, a swordman who could cut steel, and that's how Luffy managed to get to Crocodile, an opponent that he could defeat after realizing that blood was as good as water. Now, I'm not saying Roger didn't need a fruit to be the Pirate King, but it's obvious that there are some fights that characters can't simply win. Just look at Perona, Luffy is strong, but I doubt he could defeat Perona's Astral Tricks, so yeah, it's possible that Roger just happened to have crewmates that knew how to deal with the various DF users of the Grand Line, and perhaps, that may explain how Shanks and Buggy, and maybe his other crewmates, managed to survive when he was executed.

He still is a hammer, but he can walk on water (well, so long as he isn't submerged why not). The DF is powering him so he is still a DF user.

Brooks DF did nothing to empower him while he was alove. do you agree with that statement?

if WB got some kind of similar DF that doesnt grant him anything in his current state (or just never grants him anything that to him is worth while) he would have gained the titel of "worlds strongest man" just as likely with or without the help of his DF power right?

You guys are forgetting that Luffy and crew are extremely weak compared to WB, Shanks, BB, Mihawk and Roger, just to name a few. He might need a devil fruit to beat some people true, but the people I listed before are on an unimaginable level of strength. I could easily see Roger punching Daz Bones, and punching a hole through him, so basically puncturing solid steel. A weak little 55 berry bounty hunter is a mere speck of dust in Roger's shadow.

Multiple DF thing: Since Blackbeard knowingly sought out a specific DF, that suggests there was another Yami Yami no Mi since the book he used would have to have a picture of it, BUT how would they know what it did if someone or something hadn't used the power before? Like in the case of Kaku and Kalifa, they didn't know what fruits they were eating until they ate them. So someone needs to have the DF's powers before they know what the DF does, and in the case of someone like Blackbeard, this strongly supports if not PROVES that the DF's can regrow - if I'm right about them regrowing (as with everyone else who thinks they do), we just don't know the circumstances of how this regrowth happens. Does the fruit appear immediately upon death?

I would really like to see the question "If a DF user dies, does their DF fruit regrow/reappear?" in an SBS amongst other things.

On topic: I could see Roger either way on the DF ability, because just having a DF doesn't necessarily make you some kind of broken fighter. Sure Luffy has a rubber body, but part of his threat level isn't the rubber body itself, it's what he's figured out how to DO with the rubber body. Like, for example, didn't he make up an attack based on Genzo's pinwheel after he met him? So if Roger had a DF, that by itself wouldn't have necessarily made him dangerous - his competency to use the ability would be the kicker.

..but I think he gave himself up to save all of his nakama, or something along those lines.

About Roger being caught, again I remembered an old theory I only flipped upon but it got right to my mind.

Long story short, Roger lied. He brought the whole world's attention towards the GL, absolutely no exceptions. Why? Because the result was his family residing in the tamest of the Blues, in some unknown village where the most dangerous person was some bandit with 8M on his head.

Damn, I really don't remember who brought that up.. I'm sure someone remembers! I only got a tiny bit of it since it was a long time ago, but I like it.

About Gold Roger having a DF, I'm kinnda okay with it as long as it isn't another Logia fruit, since everything that I saw in the manga till now suggest that eating a Logia Fruit gives you a huge power-up and makes you an overkill against 99% of the human population no matter how much of a wuss you were before.
Still waiting for a weak Logia user(or weak DF user for that matter).
Good thing is that on a higher level of play the non-DF users seem to catch up or take the lead, thats why Gold Roger and Whitebeard having no DFs would be such a good thing, two people being on the top by their own account among all the DF users.
