But I do agree that most of Zoro's opponents that use swords or swordlike weapons are not true sword specialists.

Fun chapter. Usopp's battle was what it should be, fun. Franky and Brook's reaction shots were priceless. Regarding the next big fight I don't particularly care who beats Ryuuma as much as I am interested in how they go about it.

I cant help but notice that on page 13 Zoro seems to fall right next to the imprint Brook made in the ground before he helped Franky and Robin vs Taleran.
I am now thoroughly convinced that Ryuuma has smitten Brook atleast 3 times… i dare anyone to come up with a better explanation as to why:
- Brook fell in the first place.
- he knew exactly where to find Ryuuma (and ryuuma seemed to be waiting for him)
- Franky knew where Brook was fighting Ryuuma.
... 3 strikes and Brook is out! no more chances on Ryuuma. (ok i know its more of an american concept but he lost one more time then Luffy and unlike Luffy the only one with a weakness in BvsR is Brook. Acording to the translation i read Ryuuma wasnt even serious when fighting Brook.)
If Brook can get up from beeing tossed out like that i have no doubt that Zoro will. Preferebly he would finish his own fight but i accept the possibility that he will require help from others.

the 10ton hammer is wonderful but im still hopeing that he will eventually turn his 5 ton hammer (with the help of an impact dial)
into reality.

What's going to be great about this upcoming Zoro/Ryuma is that we're also going to see a preview of many of Brooke's abilities, except stronger. Of course, with Brooke joining the crew he'll get the chance to evolve his fighting style over time, just like everyone else.

Good chapter. I'm surprised it didn't end on an ubber cliffhanger the way pretty much EVERY OP chapter usually does though. I guess Oda-sensei really wanted to start the Zoro fight and couldn't go too much into it yet. He seems to be limiting each fight to a chapter and a half which is a nice pace to keep. The fights will seem epic and lengthy in the anime regardless of length anyways.
I can't wait to see Luffy vs. Moria and what the hell's up with Zoro. We stil have no idea why or how he didn't fight for serious or how he got knocked out of the building…

It could be kewl if done correctly. The swords could be combined at the next town so he doesn't completely throw away the gift from the swordsmith guy...who knows?!

Well, she was feeling the plastic roaches all over… so she was probably imagining the movement.

Strange about all this Zoro complaints coming all the sudden–where were they when the Zoro/Kaku fight was around? All I saw were retarded "Kaku will join" arguements. No offense to the metally handicapped--those guys are rock.
But yeah, I have to admit that Ryuma seems to be in a whole different league then Zoro's other opponents. I mean, he just uses one sword. He's a pure samurai. The fact that he's dead doesn't really mean anything--accept that the manga can get away with inhuman levels of damge to him. Yeah, he's got to get cut in an interesting way before this fight ends.

I'm still amazed that I'm actually pumped for a Zoro fight. I hope to see Brooke and Franky contribute in whatever ways they can, too.

A victory is a victory. It shouldn't matter how you do it, as long as you win. That's practically Usopp's theme, as he'll lie and sneak his way to victory.
And you don't really have any way of proving that, so it's a moot point. As it stands, he's defeated a very strong opponent, and that's actual evidence that we can see.
EDIT: And okay, we'll drop it. But if you didn't want to discuss it, you really shouldn't have commented, in the first place. Just let the Usopp fans enjoy their moment, even if it is a bit over exaggerated.

Last one, I sweat to god, and it's not even about Usopp. Though you're right ,this fight doesn't mean he can beat Jyabura-like oppoents, but I don't think anyone was suggesting that.
…CP9 caliber? I'm pretty sure only the CP9 are "CP9" caliber. The new world isn't going to be full of the DBZ esque fighters that Lucci and Jyabura are. I don't think the gimmick fighters like Perona, Wanze, and even Crocodile are going to disappear.
Of course, I'd think that Usopp enduring a mindfucking nuts amount of explosions suggests that he's getting stronger. Oh wait, fuck...hey, how about Ryuma?

True, in Franky's opening saga alone he fought Luffy, Nero, Usopp, and Fukurou. Hell I might even be forgetting one. He whooped ass on all of them. The only person who kicked his ass a little was probably Lucci and that wasn't even his fight.
And I agree, Brook VS. Spider Monkey was ten bags of awesome. Since Ryuuma is showcasing Brook's abilities as well, I don't mind if he doesn't have another fight this arc. I'm really interested to see him play some music, so I wanna see how that goes.
