@Ao:
ahhh! Thank you so much!
Heard the song? It's superb. I am waiting for the bootleg of m8 to come.

This isn't a chatroom arnab…
The bootleg for movie 8 may not come out until the dvd is released in June. This was the case for movie 7.
I just listened to the movie 8 theme "compass" and I feel bad about bashing Toeie .
Seeing as Toei controls not only the animation industry but the music industry as well.
That's called 'J-pop' and 90% of it is soulless bubblegum crap.
That's called 'J-pop' and 90% of it is soulless bubblegum crap.
While I did like this song, I agree with that. I really wish Toei would use less J-Pop for OP's themes. We need to see Kishidan used in the main series; they were
in Movie 6.Well, Kishidan is also J-pop but they happened to be part of the 10%. But they've essentially disappeared as the vocalist went on to be DJ-Ozma. Dunno if they're even together anymore.
Huh, they never really struck me as a J-Pop group. I'll have to see if they're still together.
Bump of Chicken's theme(Sailing Day) SHOULD be the official OP theme for OP from now until eternity.
@Ao:

I agree. Bump of Chicken Rules. I was very happy when they did the theme for Tales of the Abyss as well
Yeah, Sailing Day really is so much a One Piece theme that it really makes a good opening for the anime. I still have my hopes though that this current opening won´t last long since Enies Lobby is in it´s final stages right now.
Post Enies Lobby spoilers
! Once Franky is part of the crew and Sunny becomes the new ship of the crew they HAVE to be in the new opening. Especially Sunny because it would be pointless to see Merry in the opening while the Strawhats really are already using a new ship. It would at least make sense that way.
A little update from my side : I ordered the soundtrack for movie 8 and it arrived in my country. I wasn't home when they delivered it, so I have to go to some office to get it. Since I don't have a car, my father is going to retrieve it for me. I should have the soundtrack early next week, so I'll upload it here like I did for movie 6 and 7. As you know, this soundtrack is also going to be used in the series, so I'm sure you're looking forward to it. I know I am.
Most of the music I heard in the film I recognized as ripped directly from the show. Not sure how much new material there actually was.
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo how was the movie recieved in Japan? Was it No. 1 in the box offices or what?
^Scroll back a few pages, It was no.2 opening week and no.4 the falling week.
If the next movie has Iceberg in it, even for like half a second, I'm definitely watching it no matter how bad/good it is.
I liked Sailing Day, but I think that some other movie themes, specifically Yume Miru Goro wo Sugitemo and Sayaendo, surpass it. Not really sure where to rank Compass; I liked it, but it didn't really strike me as being as "womgAWSUM" like a lot of the others did. I oftentimes like the movie themes more than the main series'.
Oh, according to their website, Kishidan is still active, and actually have a new album coming out in a couple weeks. Wikipedia also says that the vocalist is only rumored to be DJ-Ozma's alter ego, or something.
According to Wiki, Sinbad died.
He's so similar to him in both looks, actions and even the sound of his voice that considering to what lengths he goes to disguise himself and the inactivity of Kishidan, it's tough to believe otherwise.
Another thing about the movie I forgot to mention:
No Bananadiles.
No Bananadiles.
BLASPHEMY!
Yeah. Bananadile fanboy.
So Greg did you like anything about the movie at all?
I believe I posted what I liked in my initial 'review' but off the top of my head, Gomu Gomu Storm ruled.
do you know if the music played during Storm was one we've heard before or something new? I thought the music when Luffy activates Gear 3rd for the first time in the anime would be perfect for it.
On cpjapan, you can listen to 30s of each track here : http://www.neowing.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=AVCA-26255
Let's face it, Tanaka Kohei was lazy… unless he plans to make a soundtrack just for the tv series in the near future... because there's only 13 new tracks out of the 55 on the cd.
Tracks 1, 8, 12, 17, 26, 33, 45, 46, 47, 48, 50, 54 and 55 are new material. All the others are from the tv soundtracks or other movie soundtracks. Ok, these 13 tracks sound great, but that's not much to chew on. I really hope Tanaka Kohei makes new music for the series before the next arc, or we'll have another Skypiea syndrome (new arc, old music).
Once my father brings me the cd, I'll upload those 13 tracks here.
EDIT : Actually, I won't have to upload them after all, as Crossbones already posted the new tracks on the Kaizoku-Fansubs forum here : http://www.kaizoku-fansubs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2896&p=56
do you know which one was played during storm? (yes Im obsessed)
and I don't mind old music that much. There isn't really any OP music I dislike. I was even glad to hear a rather early tune at the end of 300.
You know, I just thoguht of something. If Toei Animation is willing to do a big-budget, 90-minute remake of Alabasta, what's stopping them from doing the same with Enies Lobby?
the fact that apparently the Alabasta movie really sucked XD
Well, it's doing well in the box-office and these highly-compressed movies are common from Toei Animation. But really, I haven't read Greg's review, so I won't get further into this until I read it.
the fact that apparently the Alabasta movie really sucked XD
No one cares that it sucked because most of the people watching are 8-year olds with their parents in tow. To them, Pikachu The Movie hasn't gotten old in over a decade. The movie rocked ass in taking home the dough and if I didn't honestly believe that the purpose of the flick was to help make the story more interesting to munchkins that have been tuning in since the time change, I'd say nothing is stopping them….
Except common sense.
There's no reason to pull the same trick again because everyone should be caught up now. Maybe if OP is still around in 10 years they'll need another refresher course to pull in the fresh meat, but yeah, this stinks of a promotional stunt to get more DVDs and tanks sold. Ultimately nothing wrong with that, but it sucks for older fans when it didn't have to.
Like I suggested long ago, even if the story was the same, if the animation rawked it would all be worth it. But that simply is NOT the case.

I am pretty sure I had posted something in this thread. What happened? AND this page loading problem is also pissing me off. Page loads half and stops. Is it due to excessive traffic in server or network jam in my area?
So when will this hit DVD so the other people who cant see it,can watch it on the computer?
You can probably expect it in the summer.. Movie 6 came out on July 21, 2005, so maybe around this time? If I recall correctly, there were rentals a week before that and soon later Maplesnow brought out subs.

You aren't supposed to mention anything about spoiler thread material outside the spoiler thread.

Stupid question but does anyone know if there are bouncing boobs in movie 8?
If there are, then I have one more reason to not to like it. Fanservice in movie 7 was just sick. I want to enjoy about OP without having a feeling I'm watching some hentai movie.
Stupid question but does anyone know if there are bouncing boobs in movie 8?
I remember at least two rather gratuitous bouncing scenes. Oh wait, three. Two of them with 2 as Nami.
Okay. Thanks for the answer.
As long as fanservice isn't similar like in Movie 7, that's fine with me so I think that's not too bad.

Sound effects, or not?
Spoke with TT over at ANN and heard the bad news; your wit was quite effective, omae. It made quite an impact on those who were reading that particular thread. :p
I've got to say, after seeing some clips from the DB Piccolo Daimao v. Goku remake, I had high hopes for this movie but I guess it was destined to fail. Then again, I kinda figued the "X" best friend device would get over-emphasized given OP has been desperate to attract new fans to the show's "heart" but something like that could only serve to polarize folk.

What new remake?
What new remake?
I think that scene got re-animated into a DB movie; I know this because somewhere (Wikipedia?) I saw computer-coloured clips of that scene and so I assumed it was from one of Toei's remakes, as mentioned by omae a long while ago.
Hold, let me see if I can dig something up…
EDIT: Ahh, here's one of 'em.

That is from a videogame, DBZ: Sagas
Well, the openings…
Here, check it out.
Ahh, I see. It's like the OP game cutscenes (which I had forgotten until now); man, the gears in my mind sure need oiling. :p
Worst/Most Disappointing anime film I have ever seen.
Ever.
This coming from a man who suffered through the Utena movie.
Aw, the Utena movie wasn't that bad XD It was a total mindf*ck though
Oh no folks, because when they said they were gonna change it a little at JUMP Festa, they sure as hell meant "a little". Picture all of Arabasta. Now remove the following (in no particular order):
Ace
Marines
Rainbase
Kappa
Vivi's Complete Flashback
Spider's Cafe
2/3 of Operation Utopia
Kung Fu DugongsThen imagine packing everything else the fuck into basically an hour and twenty minutes. EVERYTHING. We're talking about Luffy catching Mr. 2 to the raising of the fists.
I was COMPLETELY baffled (and continue to be) in trying to figure exactly for what audience this film was conceived. There is VERY little altered. VERY FUCKING LITTLE!!! I'm not screwing around when I say that. Stuff that DOESN'T need to be in there IS! That in mind, why THE FUCK would any fan in their right mind want to see exactly the same story!!!!!!????????? BECAUSE THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT IT IS!!!!!!! And the fights!!!????
This is insane.
This is the kick in the nuts.
Dear god… WHY?!?! So basically they took everything out that made Alabasta a really awesome arc? Those f*cking dildos! The fact that there is no Ace and Smoker really pisses me off. Smoker did play a pretty big part in that arc, I was totally looking forward to seeing him reanimated. And they took out the Kung Fu Dugongs... wtf.
If I hadn't read the comic, the movie would literally have driven me to the point of insanity. 1 and Double Finger are handled the same. Out of nowhere, Zoro is cutting a man to no effect. Why? No explanation to be found. The only one who actually explained his powers was 2 because of his scene on the boat.
Another point, since there was no Rainbase, the first scene with Croc and Luffy is actually at their first showdown in the comic in the middle of the desert.
…..This shit is dildos.
Again, no Marines, no Ace. When we see them first on land in Arabasta they're heading for Yuba.
No Rainbase from Yuba, they head instantly for the Rebels before Luffy makes his decision and then split up.
No bounties.
No meeting with 2 before the escape.
No Mr. 3.
This did it. This just blew my fucking mind. Despite the piece of garbage ending with the X scene, no Robin joining or even hinted at joining. Okay, all well and good…...okay.....then....WHY DID THEY SHOW HER SITTING ALONE AFTER THE EVENT HAVING FLASHBACKS TO OHARA!!!!?????????
Ugh…. how disappointing. I really don't want to see it now. I've never said that about any One Piece movie, I've even watched the third one which was total crap.
So what was good about it?
The opening was awesome. Just downright awesome. Pell flying through the sky with Vivi for the opening was wicked. Unfortunately, slowly but surely you begin to realize that corners are being cut, like a flat scene zoomed in and panned on that should have been animated. From there it all just goes downhill. Fast. Lines are read quickly and often without ANY impact on the viewer. The movie moves at a lightning pace and would easily leave anyone not well-versed in OP in the dust.
Next, leaving in Okama Way was awesome, but then why change it to begin with? Then why leave out the skewering but show blood splattering from soldiers who get their faces mauled? And Sunday's Clutch is more painful-looking than it has EVER been.
They do this effect several times throughout where they pause the animation and overlay a painting of the scene at 'emotional'/important parts like end of battle, etc. The screen pauses and sound stops. This effect works briefly but they pause SO LONG that I actually thought something was wrong with the film. Seriously, you will crack up when you see it. You'll just be like, "Uh…hello? Movie?" Where did this work? One scene and one scene only. Zoro defeating 1.
It was bloody wicked. It needs to be a wallpaper ASAP. It's disgustingly sweet.
All these sound really cool, but I still don't know if I'd want to see it… Well, actually if Zoro's fight was animated well, then I'd like to see just that. Since that's what I mainly care about in that arc anyway. I'd love to see the sexiness of that fight reanimated~
Who sings the opening theme, Compass, btw?
^Ai Kawashima
(16 characters)
Ai Kawashima, I believe.
(^ Damn you.)
@pirateneko:
Aw, the Utena movie wasn't that bad
Actually it was.
I guess I'm the lone human that enjoyed the Utena movie. T'was okay guys. I had no idea this many people hated it. It wasn't the greatest, but unanimous hatred….?

Hey, I liked it. I know a lot of people think it sucks, but I thought it was quite beautiful.. Yeah it was very strange and wouldn't make sense if you've never seen the series, but I loved the soundtrack and the animation none the less.
I enjoyed it. Not as much as the series, but I still enjoyed it.
Alternatively, let's not stay too far off-topic, please.
