Aldrich… i cant click the first link in your sig image =( cant write it down in the address field either =(

I was just thinking about this does brook actually breath…. he's dead and I'm pretty sure when he ate it was just for the sake of eating if he doesn't need to breath couldn't hedo underwater missions in some sort of cabled wet suit
-
if he doesn't need to breath couldn't hedo underwater missions in some sort of cabled wet suit
Well could he really sink or operate under water while being so light? Thats a big question right there before we even get to what he can and can no do in water.
-
If he goes under water he'll drown like all the other DF users… What good is that? -_-'

Suba suit like in Jaya arc, not bare body. I'd assume.

yes but, he ate the devil fruit when his body was still alive, would of thought that once he died and could only come back to live once, the devil fruit would of left his body and moved on, if not it's a pretty dull devil fruit to be suck with if you can't use it again. I wonder if it can do anything else for him?
speaking of which, my friend pointed something out to me, (I don't know if it has been said before, if it has I'm sorry) but if Brook's skull got knocked of, would he still be alive? If he was then THAT would be awesome!
-

if i were him i would be pretty darn content with beeing to be alive even though all the vital organs (did you know skinn is considered a vital organ? "the more you know…" =P) decayed already...
even in the OP world. how does a skeleton move without muscles and sinews if he doesnt have an active DF power?
-
SO far his skeleton body makes him light, and weak.
That is why he is losing to Ryuuma BTW. Ryuuma has muscles.
and Brook being 8 feet tall. Further evidence for my Brook is black theory.
Aokiji is black too BTW.
-
and Brook being 8 feet tall. Further evidence for my Brook is black theory.
Aokiji is black too BTW.Gotta love that racial stereotyping business. Not all black people are tall. Gary Coleman, being a fine example.
But, you're probably right with Brook being black, when he was still alive, although now it's pretty irrelevant. He pulled an MJ anyway. He turned white.
(Bone joke?)And by the way, Gary Coleman brings the sex to the table, with a booster seat. Or so I'm heard.
-
Didn't someone have a theory a while ago that they were related somehow? I wouldn't be surprised.

its the first post in this thread

Hmm… I guess it is. Well, makes it easier to find. I think it would be a good idea. The afro does fill you with brotherly soul. Brook being a brother would prove it('yohoho, 'fro joke)!

When stereotyping isn't malicious, its FUN!!!!
To get you off my nuts tho, I'm black.(Makes it acceptable to most people for some reason)
and to be completely honest, the reason I bring race into this is because I'm so sick of seeing black people portrayed as muscle bound, big lipped gorrillas with names like "killa" and "big joe". I enjoy seeing black characters who don't get their asses beat in large quantities by the main characters, and who have an I.Q over 50, and an arrogance rating lower than that.

Smartz118: uhm please wait untill the full chapter is out before posting that (anything related to the spoiler thread)…
Edit: oh hey look his post has been deleted...Human bones are not hollow to my knowledge... they are filled with bone marrow. Birds bones are hollow though.
-
If the bones are dead, the cells inside will die and leave the bone to be hollow…Brooke has been dead for a long time, so it won't be surprising if all that was left inside the bones were nothing.
-
if the marrow in the bones somehow got out doesnt that mean there is a way for water to get in? bones beeing denser then water would make them sink unless theres any air in them. also brooks clothes would probably drag him down too.
and we are also assumeing that the (remaining) marrow isnt revitalized when Brooks soul returned… If the marrow comes back to life that could be a longshot explaintion as to how Brooks bones could "heal"...

EDITED:
Okay, recent events (am I allowed to say that?) have made me confused about Brook’s age and how long ago he died.He told Luffy it was a few decades ago that he died, so let’s narrow it down.
He and his crew got killed, and then his soul came back to this world thanks to his devil fruit
It took him a year to find his body
He said “…there’s only been one ridder of a large ship swaying around. Lost for these ten years!”
So I think that means he’s been in the triangle for ten years on his own (that would make it eleven after his crew were killed)So…five years into his time in the triangle, he ended up on Thriller Bark and got his shadow taken, tires to get it back and then failed
Five more years on from that is the present story line were he meets up with the Straw-hats and has been training
ACK! the more I think about it, the more it makes me confused!

Spoiler talk… -_-'
Moving aside before the thread gets locked or something stupid.
Does Brook even know how long his been floating around the FT. If its misty most of the time, you can loose track very easily.
-
He has not made an exact reference up to date. its all "decades"
superchops: i have not seen any translation say "ten years" iv seen tens and decades. yours is probably a mistranslation or something.
btw, spoilers outside the spoiler thread is a bad thing! shame on you guys responsible for that.
-
sorry…
T.Tpost has now been edited
but this is where I read TEN years from
!

Put that you are a member in your sig.
and yes, spoilers FTL. Takes the fun out of actually reading the chapter.

Assuming Brook will join the crew, how do you think he will interact with normal people? Seeing a reindeer man and a cyborg is one thing since they look closer to normal people, but a tall skeleton with an afor's bound to stand out, right? Just something I've been ponedering.
-
If the bones are dead, the cells inside will die and leave the bone to be hollow…Brooke has been dead for a long time, so it won't be surprising if all that was left inside the bones were nothing.
Wouldnt they have to be hollow to allow him to float around.
-
But he hasn't floated. He can run on water, but that's different.
Frankly I'm not sure it matters after all humans float even if they can't swim. But luffy has sunk every time. Even if he will float he be to weak to do get to shore and sooner or later he sink anyway.
-
I remember during Hina's attack that Chopper was found by Usopp floating in the water, so it's not that devil fruit users can't float… they just lose their strength and can't swim. Brook's pretty light, so if he fell into the water, he'd probably float.
-

Humans can't float. Maybe if they are dead and there is air trapped in the body, but otherwise our weight pulls us down, you have to keep your limbs moving to keep you above water.
Unless you go to the dead sea.
Then just about everything floats.
-
Humans can't float? Of course they can, whatever hapened to holding your breath and laying on your back? One reason people die while their are in the sea is because they fall asleep and the waves mave knock them downwards and they breathe in water and drown. The human body is made up of mostly water, so it s naturally bouyant.
Sinking from not being able to swim is a different set of physics. If a person is in the water vertically, as if they could stand up and are displacing water by moving their body, the chances of sinking obviously increase because the weight of the person is not spread out. Therefore, by thrashing around in the water rather than laying on one's back calmly is not a smart thing to do.
Thirdly, the reason lots of things in the Dead Sea floats is because of the ridiculous amount of salt in the water. The Dead Sea is so highly saturated with salt that is is more noticably dense, and because the human body is less dense than the water, it will thusly float. And the reason i has so much salt is because it is a sea without a river to empty out to the ocean, so no matter how much it rains, it will catch the naturally salty water and never let it out, no matter how much of it evaporates. Water evaporates, not salt.
-
When I hold my breath and lean on my back… I sink. I know from nearly drowning once. Luckily, someone grabbed me. So is the body able to float; it all depends on the conditions, but NORMALLY it doesn't, otherwise people would never drown. -_-'
-

Wait, really? Where did you see that?
I always went by an SBS about Croc that said, if they are at least half sinked in the waters the effect pulls on, and therefore they sink, being Hammers.
Anyways, about Brooke, I might be a little late on this.. but a little add on "how his DF works" is that once he is brought back alive, he IS alive. The DF gives him the ability to heal from wounds as long as their are not fatal, just like a live person.

…
Humans Float. We are naturally buoyant. This is a fact.
I'm not sure what happened to you, but we only sink under abnormal conditions not the other way around.
-

Im not sure why that happened to you but the human body does float for various reason such as
A) Lung Air cavity creating flotation
B) Materials that make up the body such as fat (remember oil goes up water goes down? Same ide)
C) Water buoyancy, saltier water even more so.
Plus on top of that a lot of drown victims are found life less floating on the top of the water. So I'd say your try with the back floating was due to poor balance.
-
Yeah drowning victiums also depend on the same macanics (spelling) as swiming and floating. Only different is air is trapped and cannot escape, and the body exerts various chemicals (such as gases) when you die that also aid. And there is no movement. Once the air finds its way out though, the body sinks. There is nothing left to keep it floating.
-

People drown because they inhale water instead of air, they weighted down by clothing, the waves constantly force water into their mouths and often stay upright in the water, creating less surface area. If you lay on your back, there is a lot more surface area for the water pressure to push you upward, which often counters the air pressure and gravity which is pushing downward. You should have floated, you were probably positioned wrong.
Corpses float too. Dead bodies that don't even have air in them float, that is why people tie weights on people they want to drown so the body doesn't pop up later because of the natural bouyancy. The cells of the body consist of mostly water, but because the body is not all water, it will rise to the surface.
-
And with all that, we saw various times in the series DF Users drown strictly because they're DF Users [Arlong Park is an exception].
Seriously, I don't get where you are all getting at.
-
My theroy was even if brooks bones were hollow he would sink due to him being a DF user.
It got slightly off track. Just slightly.
-
i'll agree with Capt Haggis. most likely Brook would sink if he ended up in the water. the only thing that stops him from sinking now is that he is running.
-
Whatever the case, Brook knows how to keep himself from sinking, which is more then most other DF users have.
-
well the whole discussion was if Brook could sink or not. =P not if he could keep himself from sinking.
-
I am really interested in what voice actor will get Brook. I do not know if it is possible, but the voice I always imagined for Brook was Japanese Pegasus' voice. You can listen to it here-

=Wow,Pegasus's voice is perfect for Brook and i found the name of the actor his name is Jiro Jay Takasugi

Based on the latest chapter, we get a few clues to his age. And folks,
I TOLD YOU SO.

good call PtRb ^^

=See, I don't like it. =/ it sounds WAY too generic for Brooke. Brooke needs someone…much, much quirkier. XD he needs to sound how he speaks. I'm thinking he needs to sound kind of girly, but not really; like the Anime Fat-woman sound. Girly, but masculine. I think it'd be perfect. <3
That, and a bit of a british accent. ^-^ If they can come up with it. o.O' -
