(and let's be honest with ourselves, few of those FF boss fights were actually hard with adequate preparation)
-
Pretty much any boss from Alter Echo was a pain for me,but Im not real good at video Games, also the last boss in Dark Cloud..ohhh I hated that.
-
R. Bear from Streets of Rage 2.
Honest to god, i hate this goddamn boss. Beating every move i throw at him. Worse for the fact that every time i try to pick up the katana before the boss. The ninjas find some way to get rid of my katana.. URRGGHH!
-
Not necessarily hardest but now that I'm done with Street Fighter IV's arcade mode I don't wanna play against computer Seth again ever. Few times I got so pissed off. I don't think I have ever got so pissed off while playing a video game. Excluding Viva Pinata. That game almost made me a school shooter.

Get to the Mecha Sonic race in Sonic CD he'll make you shout more expletives than a Nymphomaniac getting her vagina pounded too hard.
-
Bong Bongo from Ocarina of time. Took me eight tries to beat him.
-
Don't know if it's a boss fight since you can move on with the game without a victory but still being an individual mission it does appear a bit like that. That said, defeating Yammy on hard mode with Chad in Bleach: Blade Battlers 2nd is one of the biggest pain in the ass moments I've ever had in gaming. Chad is one of the worst characters to play with, he has only 50% health bar and Yammy counters practically everything you throw at him, sucks your energy and not only has a 100% health bar but also a second life. I never thought that at my age a game boss could frustrate me as much as this one.
-
Easily Dark Demon in Demon's Crest on the SNES. My hands were a mess after I finally beat him. It took weeks.
-
honorable mention
-
Great Tiger-Punch out tyson ver.
His punch power i always lose atand right now, Phantom Ganon in Oot is making me quit the gameplay :(
-
Damn, that was so hard. -
Godhand bossfights are freaking brutal!!
blows anything titan mode has to offer out of the water!
check out these bossfights from this wonderful game!
The guy playing these runs is a great player! Hard mode is no freaking joke!! Notice the "Kick Me" sign on his back as well. For those that don't know, to keep that sign on Gene (the main character) a player CANNOT use any roulette specials or invincible god mode techniques AT ALL! What does that mean? Well to put it simply, it launches the difficulty level of the game up about 50%! Why would you do this? Cause it's one of the hardest videogame challenges out there! (and i think beating the game this way earns a music CD ingame… woot)
For an example of how INSANELY difficult this self imposed challenge is, look at this video. These are just mini-bosses, but around 1:07 of the vid, watch how much damage the player takes from ONE HIT!!
Check out one of the final boss fights:
What's really insane is just like old school beat em' ups like Double Dragon, Godhand gives the player NO WAY to heal themselves, other than breaking open crates and jars.. which randomly give the players rewards. Almost dead.. you'll find a silver coin. Need money, you'll get a banana.

@Fire Fist:
Proto-Ultima in FFXI Online (You wouldn't understand unless you've played it)
Dynamis Lord (FFXI)
Just have to say this. Valkurm Dunes is the hardest boss in the game. I swear, that place is pretty much the ultimate test of "How much do you REALLY want to play Final Fantasy XI?" Because I couldn't do it, I quit playing.
That being said, here's my list in no particular order:
-Whitebeard, One Piece: Unlimited Adventure (Yeah, I had a hard time)
-Taboo, Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Especially in Boss Battles mode on Intense.)
-Cynthia, Pokemon Diamond and Pearl (Only during the first run-through of the Elite Four)
-Omega Weapon, Final Fantasy VIII
-Ozma, Final Fantasy IX (Without exploiting AI)
-Iselia Queen, Star Ocean 2…and that's all I remember.
-
My top three would probably be:
-Fire Leo on Ultra V-Rated (Viewtiful Joe) [Boss Rush beforehand + no saves + no hit icons + have to judge where he's going to attack by listening to the minute differences in growls + intense speed + have to attack rocks to light self on fire before he runs around the stage once + does more damage than your characters can actually get in terms of health bars = I am never going to unlock Captain Blue as a playable character…]
-Seth on any time-limit but 30 seconds (Street Fighter IV) [if it wasn't for the fact that I could adjust the time limit, I never would have beaten him; he can teleport around the screen, suck you in for a punch that is nearly impossible to counter, use special attacks with a single button press, has Dhalsim's range, and loses most of his advantages when a human is playing as him]
-Gruntilda on Replay Mode (Banjo-Tooie) [for reference, you only have the minimum amount of health (5 hitpoints) and oxygen (half of the maximum amount), so you practically have to dodge every single hit or else you're basically dead, and bring her health down to one before the poison gas kills you in half of the time that it normally would]Honorable Mention: Whitebeard for the second time (to get the Pirate King coat) (One Piece: Unlimited Adventure) [he doesn't flinch from most attacks, has a huge range, has a ridiculous amount of health, dodges about half of the attacks thrown at him while gaining temporary invincibility while doing so, his defense increases while he's attacking (meaning I could use all of Luffy's special on Gigant Pistol and it only makes him lose a sliver of health), and when his health gets low enough, he starts to spam his one-hit kill special attack]
I'm only counting bosses that I've beaten, so that's why I didn't mention Mike Tyson from Punch-Out or any bosses from SNK games.

I also forgot in Kingdom Hearts 2 the guy with the guitar he really was annoying.

You mean Demyx. And I agree, he gave me a hard time for quite a while.

Wut? that was like one of the funnest battles, too short IMO.
-
He's not as annoying as Xanxus.

I agree it was fun,but still a pain.

I probally didnt get that far,I was borrowing from a friend and only had it for a week, was he the guy you fought on some castle like area?

I think that was Xaldin.
Beasts castle right? -
Decided to go back and play some Megaman Zero, and rediscovered my intense hatred for Copy X's seraphim form. You're stuck on a small platform, hemmed in by floating columns, while he tries to restrain you with halo lasers before setting the platform on fire or beam spamming lasers. And his EX move has him spam the halo binders while trying to crush you with the columns. Ugh. Horrible.
-
You mean Demyx. And I agree, he gave me a hard time for quite a while.
That was my favorite fight in the whole game, all he kept saying was "Dance water, dance!", I was rolling on the floor and couldn't beat him the first 7 or 8 tries. Hilariously good times.
-
I think that was Xaldin.
Beasts castle right?Yep,was stuck there when my friend wanted it back,it was one of the most annoying boss fights I ever played, the only one that compares is the dark genie or whatever the last boss is in Dark Cloud.
-

I never knew what he was saying, but now I know and thats hilarious.
-
What? The Demyx fight was one of the easiest bosses in the game. Both times. Just spam Firaga.
Xaldin was a beast, though. I didn't have trouble with anyone else, not even Sephiroth (who is also easily comboed into oblivion if you knew what you were doing).
And no, I never used Reflectga or whatever the move is called.
-
LOZ: a link to the Past Dark world boss 7
I kept running out of Magic and then i had no way to fight the 3 headed boss.
-

I dunno, Xaldin didn't give me much trouble. I think I beat him on my first try.
Oh, but you did remind of Sephiroth who, for me, was definitely the hardest boss fight. I don't know if it's natural talent or what, but it took me at least 20 tries to beat him.

getting the chaos crystals. Also playing zombie killer in hopes that something other than you everntually dieing happening.

AAAHH
the gold age of SNK Bosses
why now we have some cheaty Bosses in the SNK series ?..for me..
the king of all cosmos on We Love Katamary
hes so fucking hard..
and you have only one chance.. -
Hardest fight in all of Baldur's Gate was the one against Aec'Letec in TOTSC.
-
Hm.. Hardest fights? I can't really think of hard fights these days especially since I have grown to a point in where I know how to manipulate AI patterns and deadzones.
Before that, I thought Sephiroth, Phantom and Unknown was KH1 was hard. Unlimited Gabriel and Iseria Queen in Star Ocean 2. Lenneth and Freya in Star Ocean 3. Omega Weapon in FF8.
…
That's about it. They are easy a hell now, and games are far too easy these days.
-
No fight is hard :p
There's just a specific pattern you have to follow.
With that said, I shall list bosses that give me trouble during my tenure as an inexperienced gamer. I call them the "Road Block Bosses":
Carry Armor (FF7)
Adel (FF8)
Gizamaluke (FF9) Yes, Gizamaluke. I have horrible memories of him.
Yunalesca (FF10)
The dragon boss in Golmore Jungle (FF12, Earth Wyrm?)Outside of that, I rarely have trouble. :\
-
Yunalesca (FF10)
Until you figure out that her ultimate attack can't be used on someone
already infected with Zombie. -
Babel was pretty difficult if you took Gin's route in Shin Megami Tensei Devil Surivor. Basically you're stripped of your powerful demons and forced to fight the final boss with only your weak, squishy humans. It's pretty tough, and you need to have specific set-ups in order to triumph.
-
Some of Tartarus bosses in Persona 3 are totally unfair and mean.
-
Most game from bioware have a very hard boss fight (all except mass effect 1 and 2). Especially in your first play-through. but the hardest would be The Harvester from Golems of Amgarrak DLC. That Monster make all the other boss i fight look like a fodder, night impossible to beat in nightmare without Awakening.
-
most of the games I play I end up finishing and beating the last boss no matter how many times I try i end up beating him however demon souls proved to be a great chalenge and it took me a very long time to make it to the last boss "the False King" he was incredibly hard and even drained you down a lv which in demon souls was very hard to lv up after 2 trys and dieing in and instant I just gave up…..
-
Sephiroth from KH2 was tough and took me a while but in the end, like every boss, you just gotta find the pattern and keep reusing it to death till you beat them. With Sephiroth, for example, you just gotta Trinity Limit him to death and then run away till you MP bar fills up.
-
You can also abuse Reflect…. On just about everything. It's probably the most broken spell in the game.
-
I've never beat Dullahan from Golden Sun. I spent two weeks straight leveling up for that fucker, and he beats me every time.
-
Mad Jack from DK64 took me a long time. He was a marathon for my 10 year old gaming abilities.
-
I've never beat Dullahan from Golden Sun. I spent two weeks straight leveling up for that fucker, and he beats me every time.
Set all your Djinn and spam almost all the summons. He should go down quickly.
There are ways to beat him without spamming summons, but it's too hard and relies on luck. Him having 2 turns, Instant kills from Charon and Djinn Strom are too cheap.
-
He can use your summons against you in Dark Dawn. It's quite unpleasant.
From the same game, Ancient Demon. He can summon Haures at will, which does a lot of damage to everyone and can inflict venom. Also, he can steal your guys. Not very fun having Sveta's beastform dealing 200-250 damage to your whole party at once, having your summons being used against you, or having Karis or Rief spamming Healing Gust or Pure Ply, or Pure Wish on Ancient Devil.
-
Sigma's final form in Megaman X1. Ah, And Dr Wily from Megaman 7. Those were difficult bosses for me.
-
Getting the chaos diamonds.
-
Sephiroth from KH2 was tough and took me a while but in the end, like every boss, you just gotta find the pattern and keep reusing it to death till you beat them. With Sephiroth, for example, you just gotta Trinity Limit him to death and then run away till you MP bar fills up.
And I actually beat him by the pattern… Whatever now.
Well, I usually have hard boss fights because I just don't level the necessary to face the boss.
It was like in
FFXII: Earth Tyrant - I defeated it at Lv 21 with that kid? as guest.
Tales of Abyss: Van - I was on hard mode, but only Lv 70. Had to retry 3 times.
Tales of Destiny II: I don't remember what boss, but it was really a pain.Other than underleveling
Diddy Kong Race: Wizpig race (the last race) - You do a mistake, you lose, simple as that.
The World Ends With You: Sho Minamoto (Week 2 and 3) - "Zetta slow!"
Monster Hunter: Troublesome Pair offline quest - Not exactly a boss fight, but I had to retry atleast 8 times. There are other fights that I can't remember now.
-
FUCKING WIZPIG.
i literally actually broke my Diddy Kong Racing cartridge with a hammer when I lost this one time
nothing of value was lost

I one time broke my fucking DS from mario and luigi partners in time. There was too many hard bosses in that damn game (shroob princesses, bowser, and thomp lady. I will hate you all). How I broke it was that I jump on the fucking and smash it in half. Regretted it but was kind of happy after that fact.
