Is it the moth? Or does it just have to go inside the zombie? ie- via a cut
Chapter 456 "Demon from the Frozen Land" Discussion
-
-
I think it's about getting inside the zombies. Also, I'm sure it has to be a particular kind of salt, i.e. ocean sea salt, because most salt just comes from lakebeds anyway.
-
Why are some people thinking Brooke will lose? He may have lost to Ryuma once, but that doesn't mean he can never win against him. Luffy lost to Crocodile before, but he eventually defeated him. The same will happen here too.
-
Brooke specified the mouth. It's all right here.

My friend and i were talking and realized something funny;
if Gecko Moria is like a Dragon Quest boss, then Oz must be the huge thing that comes out after he's defeated.
-
@Cap'n:

Unless he's like that boss of Dragon Quest IV. You know, the final one that everytime you thought he was gonna die, he sprouted another pair of arms or another head?
-
Just realized: Moria said Oz came from a continent where countries around the world sent their criminals. Does this mean th ename Oz is intended as a reference to Austrailia? (Oz/Aus)

Could be where Impel Down is, actually. You know, the place we thought the Strawhats were going after Enies Lobby?
-
or it could be a reference to popular culture with the prison series on TV called Oz?

I don't know how likely that is. The place is specifically mentioned as a continent. Regardless, that's not the point. My point is that Moria is describing a penal colony in general an dpotentially a OP version of Austrailia in particular. Forgot all about that Oz. That's possible, too.

Well, that would make sense, but I think it's really more of a reference to the sort of Island or Continent prison people send their prisoners when they don't want to deal with them anymore. For example, in Cowboy Bebop, they sent all the major criminals to Pluto. Other series have similar situations, like sending them to remote islands, asteroids, or planets from which they can't escape.
Impel Down has already been introduced as a sort of Prison Nation from which no one can escape. Why would we need another? That would just be bad storytelling.
-
Yeah when I read the chapter, Australia immediately came to mind when Oz was discussed.
-
Oz is quite possibly one of the coolest things I've seen thus far in the series.
I've been really thinking strongly about Moria and the body suit theory. Look at his body shape, the thing is so stretched out it doesn't at all really resemble a typical giant. Mind you there may be other types but it doesn't make sense. Moria looks more like a Knockem down clown thingie than a giant. His neck, arms and other proportions seem so bizzare. Furthermore imo being in a body suit is just having someone else do stuff for him. It would also explain his wing neck thing (although that may be clothes) and his horns.
-
@Fire Fist:

Impel Down wasn't a Prison Nation. It was an Underwater Prison specially designed for keeping people with Devil Fruit powers locked up.
-
Why does everyone think that just because a member may potentially join the SH crew they MUST have a Flashback? Especially considering the fact that Brooke ALREADY told us what happen to him five years ago at Thriller Bark? Why ask for a Flashback of Brooke getting his @#$ kicked by Ryuma when you are goiong to see the rematch right now?
What is up with the Flashback obsession BABY!
How about because as a storytelling device it can set up the drama and emotion for the coming battle?
Aside from that, who says the flashback has to solely revolve around Brook's previous encounter with Ryuma? I mean that might play a small part near the end but it would likely include but the majority of it would likely involve stuff about when Brook was still alive and part of that pirate crew and set up his dreams and ambitions. Along with revealing that promise he'd made to his old crewmates, how and by whom they were all killed and a whole lot of other things that better flesh out Brook as a character.
-

Not Quite.
Nami: The other is an aggregation of torture and execution chambers,
where the world's most vicious and dangerous criminals are kept.
The great underwater prison,
"Impel Down."
Enies Lobby offers the condemned no mercy. It's only a final destination.
They only CLAIM to be a court system!!
Don't you see?!
Wherever they end up taking a wanted woman like Robin is going to be hell in the end!!!
Even as we speak, Robin is getting closer and closer to the Gate of Justice!!!
WE CAN'T WAIT UNTIL MORNING!!!It's for the worst criminals in the One Piece world, not just DF users.
Though this Continent does remind me of Australia and what not, it would be kind of strange if they had TWO penal colonies for major criminals. Still, I guess it's not THAT far-fetched.
-
I don't see why not.
The Impel Down is still in bussiness, but at least in the translation I read, it sounds like that colony for criminals where Oz came from is ancient history.
-
WOW!
Just read the translation.
WOWOWOW !!!
Never ever read such a intense chapter. Its really frightening!!!
-
…The place is specifically mentioned as a continent...
@joekido:
Anyway I meant the northern continent were Oz is found.
Hm, all the translations I´ve read so far had it as country respectively land. Didn´t see any part where it says continent. Where exactly does it say it?
Fullbody even says in chapter 44 that there is a continent called Micqueot in the northern continent.
This is the first time I ever hear about that. I checked chapter 44 and can´t seem to find it. Where exactly does it say that?
-
Isn´t it just a land respectively country? At least the translations we´ve got so far say that. I didn´t read anything about a continent.
This is the first time I ever hear about that. I checked chapter 44 and can´t seem to find it. Where exactly does it say that?
Fullbody: No… they are enthralled with YOU, my dear...
Delicious...! This faint fragrance...
It must be the northern soil of Micqueot.
The light acidity coupled with a cutting dry taste… This wine is Itelzbulger Stein!!
Am I wrong, waiter? From Chapter 43: Introducing Sanji
-
Thanks FFA. Completely didn´t catch the Micqueot before. But still, it doesn´t say anything about it being a continent.

FFa it may be a question of time…
the grand line is a really dangerous place and humans in the OP world may not allways have had acces to it properly. We know Norland was exploring it 400 years ago, so there seems it was very little knowledge about GL before that. meaning there couldnt have been an Impel down then, could there?
Maybe the countries of that time used the northen continent as a type of brittish colony-australia... but when ID was built they stopped using the northen place and sent them to ID instead?
I dont know what sea Whitebeard talks about, when he said that the number of people who knew about the sea back then were diminishing, but if he was talking about GL in general ID might be VERY recent.
Ivots: it does in some translations and not everyone reads every translation. (someone posted a pic out of the raw and circled the japaneese which he claimed said continent.. i dont know if that person knows japanees though, was it in this thread or the spoiler discussion?)
-
To the people complaining about the salt thing being too easy…
You have to remember that the salt has to get in the zombies mouth. You don't just sprinkle it on the body. It's the mouth...THE MOUTH!mmm… dunno if someone pointed this out, but, however the salt purification is, does it apply to every DF users? No? Why? Should be the same isn't it...
-
mmm… dunno if someone pointed this out, but, however the salt purification is, does it apply to every DF users? No? Why? Should be the same isn't it...
It isn´t the same because they don´t throw the salt into the mouth of DF users but into the mouth of creatures that exists as a result of a DF ability. In other words these creatures are not the users of that ability.
-
salt is probably a very weak version of the seastone… strong enough to weaken a long lasting ability from a DF but not enough to weaken a DF user itself.
btw who is (portugas d?) dadun or something? v seen someone name him but no idea where the name comes from?
-

It might be… still I m not 100% positive...
dadun? I think you are talking about dadan. He is in chapter 440, second or third page... well he is not really there he has just been mentioned there.
-

There is no Portgas D. Dadan, at least not so far. Dadan was refered to in chapter the Mayor of Luffy´s hometown in chapter 440. We don´t know who he/she is. The Portgas D. connection is purely fan made speculation.

The "Portgas D." part is speculation, but Dadan was mentioned by Woop Slap during his reaction to Luffy's bounty after Enies Lobby. The reason people think he's Portgas D. Dadan is because Woop Slap wonders if he knows about the bounty, meaning that it's highly likely that he was the person who trained Luffy/Ace. And if that's the case, who better than Ace's own father?
-
ah ok ^^ thanks for clearing that up =)
FFA what do you think about my theory why there are 2 places mentioned to send convicts from all over the world to?
-
I don't understand who gives a zombie their personality - the person who donated the body or the person who donated the shadow. Brooke's zombie seems to believe that he is the legendary swordsman Ryuuma (he got his personality from the dead Ryuuma). But Cindry (who at least looks like a zombie) doesn't think she is a famous actress, which means she got her personality from the shadow.
-
It´s the characteristics and skills of the person who´s shadow is used that get transfered to the body. In other words a body adapts lifeforce from the shadow but it is still walking around in his own body.
For instance the Ryuma is refered to as Ryuma because that´s his body. Only Brooks skill and characteristics are transfered inside that body.
-
Wooooooooow. I can't really say anything that hasn't been said by now, but yeah.
-
Just saw the chapter today. Man, Oz looks awesome.
Also…..
BROOK AND RYUMA GONNA FIGHT!
Oh, and isn't Luffy's shadow too small to fit Oz?
-

Simple:
- Ryuuma is stronger than Brook so he is in control of his personnality, even if he inherits some of Brook's traits.
- "Cindry" was "stronger" than the famous actress (Hogback probably couldn't find any better shadow to revive Cindry) so her shadows takes the control. She is in "rebelion" against his creators (Hogback, Moria, Absolom, …) but she is no treat for them. That's also why I think that she is the one who told Brook about the salt thingy...

Err, Cindry is the famous actress. If anything then somebody elses shadow is inside her but the body is Cindry´s who is the person on the paintings = Victoria Cindry.
-
When I said "Cindry" I thought of the shadow that is in her body.
-
By that logic Cindry´s shadow is inside Cindry´s body.
-
What we fail to realize here is that the SHs can't pull off Bearsy's shadow.
He has no mouth!
-
And what do you think he´s talking with when Perona is scolding him? His mouth is just covered, not non-existant.
-
Two pictures - in one he's currently speaking; in the other one he's got his mouth shut. I see no gaping hole anywhere. ><

Ergo - he's invincible!
-
Brook-san said that if the body dies then the shadow dies too.
If that's true, then why does Ryuma have his shadow? Wouldn't it be gone?
-
Brooke's shadow got stolen after he died once.
-

Didn't Garp train Luffy Ace and Dragon ?
Brook can back to life that why the took his shadow
-
^Yes, but AFTER he left them, Dadan overlooked their traingin.
Damn Zombie #900 is fucking whack! TBH I kinda agree with putting Luffy's shadow in it, tho it's stupidity will be something hard to overlook.
Good chapter. -
Can anyone tell me if this is an accurate translation?
リューマ「・・・ヨホホホ・・・やはり突き落としたくらいでは諦めませんか」
Ryuuma: ….yohohoho…. just as I thought, you were beaten down but you won’t give up huh?
I checked another translation (japanes -> italian) and the "beaten down" was actually referred to Brook falling down from the roof of Triller Bark in chap 454 (?). Like there was a battle between Brook and Ryuuma previosly (not 5 years ago… now). I think someone pointed it out early in this thread too. Weird. Dunno if someone can help. Gotta wait stephen. One more thing. WTF are Robin and Franky doing inside the mansion? Running to Moria? Yeah they know how to beat up a zombie and get rid of spiders' thread still... Well at least they can try to help NaUsCho.
-

Memories are not transfered through the shadows. ergo the zombies wont identify themselves as the shadows owners. (Ryuuma will not think he is Brook)
we have no idea who donated the shadow to Cindry nor do we know what Cindry thinks about herself. She can have given up on ever standing infront of a camera again due to all the scarring and thus focusing on the part of her personality that hates plates.Err, Cindry is the famous actress. If anything then somebody elses shadow is inside her but the body is Cindry´s who is the person on the paintings = Victoria Cindry.
by the use of quotationmarks im assuming he refered to the entity that gave life to Cindry not the body or original soul/shadow of Cindry. Since we dont know who donated a shadow too her we dont really know what to call her shadow. OFC it would have ben less confusing to call it "Cindrys new shadow/soul" or something but Ghostifruit probably thought it was easier with the quotationmarks.
What we fail to realize here is that the SHs can't pull off Bearsy's shadow.
He has no mouth!
He is weasring a mask. even a member of the weakweak trio could easily remove it and put salt in his mouth.
Anyone with a mask would be harder to purify but not invincibleBrook-san said that if the body dies then the shadow dies too.
If that's true, then why does Ryuma have his shadow? Wouldn't it be gone?
He died "decades ago" and got his shadow stolen 5 years ago. He has not died since he got his shadow stolen.
@Daniz: im looking forward to Stephens script to see if he can validate our theory. ^^

Well.. This Kaidou guy could be a :devil:Yonkou's officer:devil:.. More or less like Marco, Commander of WB 1st Division..
-
Can the naruto team names stop being used its rather annoying I dunno why it started but it needs to to stop =/
-
naruto team names?

Well.. This Kaidou guy could be a :devil:Yonkou's officer:devil:.. More or less like Marco, Commander of WB 1st Division..
To have an officer that is capable of defeating one of the Shichibukia, the group that is considererd one of the "Three Powers", would be a bit overpowered I think…
Much more likely that it's just one of the Yonkous.
