Since when was Franky a pure brawler/martial artist?
Franky has his various gadgets while Burgess doesn't use anything but his fists.
Sanji is imo more fitting for Burgess due to how his and Burgess's fighting styles match up.
As for Lafitte wither or not he fights Brooke depends on the nature of his powers.
For fight matchups we know the captain is gonna take the captain….so...
Blackbeard v Luffy. This is a given especially since Blackbeard beat Ace (Or killed)
Burgess v (Sanji or Franky) So far Sanji mainly fought Karate masters. I could see Sanji fighting Burgess, but IMO, I really want Sanji to fight someone else. I see Franky taking this one because both are in your face punch for punch Im gonna kick your ass type of guys. Its gonna be interesting to see these guys wrestle around.
Van Auger v (Usopp or Franky) Usopp is a better choice because he's Sogeking and this fight will raise Usopp on different fighting and sniping levels. However Franky is known for using guns as well and having a cross hair on one of his hands. Could go either way.
Doc Q v (Chopper, likley but another could fight him) We only know Doc Q as the Doctor because of his name. As of others fighting him, I can see either Zoro or Brooke (If he joins) fighting him. Doc Q is named, "Shinigami" and he carries around a long item of some sort that is wrapped up, and could either be a Sythe, or a couple of swords. If he truely wields a weapon, I see Zoro fighting him. Shingami v Sword demon Zoro would be nice. For Brooke, it would be interesting to see Shinigami v Someone who is a pile of bones.
Lafitte v (Zoro or Sanji) Again, this character we don't know his abilities. However the cane he possesses can be a sword that is hidden, or the cane itself could be as hard as diamond and can use it as a rapier. I see Zoro fighting him if thats his abilities. One thing we know about Lafitte is he wears tap dance shoes. Tap dancing requires a lot of leg and feet movement, and what better way for a Tap Dancer v Black Leg Sanji. This isn't the first time Sanji would face a dancer, remember Bon Clay? He used Ballet style fighting.
One thing is certain, Oda likes to spring up surprises and throw off a lot of predictions out of the window. Who knows, Robin could face Blackbeard or whatnot.
If the current trend keeps happening, Im sure everyone in the SH crew will be paired up with someone, and with the current arc of thriller bark where he has introduced many characters, Oda could introduce more characters that are involved with the BB Pirates. Same can be said with CP9. We only knew of Blueno, Califa, Kaku, and Lucci, however there were other introduced along the way and almost everyone had someone to fight.
Imo personality isn't a good way to judge who fights who because by that logic Zoro would fight Burgess due to their similarities.
I don't think Oda would have Franky beat Auger. While it would as Aldrich said be fairly funny if Franky, Brooke, or some new SH crew member ended up defeating Auger it would be fairly mean to Ussop and I don't think Oda has it in him to do that too him.
Doc Q is weird. I don't necessary think the thing on his back is really a weapon. And I theorized that he may have a ability similar to Chopper's Monster Form.
Well going by Oda's track record for fights I'd say the fights would go like this:
Luffy VS Blackbeard
Sanji VS Burgess
Ussop VS Van Auger
Chopper VS Doc Q
I don't know about Lafitte.
im curious about what record you are using to base chopper fighting Doc Q on… chopper hasn't fought any doctor so far to my knowledge...
also the personality matchup between franky and burgess matches better then the fighting style between sanji and burgess imo.

I think they will happen to fight at least 3 times. On the 1st one SHs win and Luffy vs. BB is a tie [somehow]. On the 2nd time the BB crew comes renewed, beating the SHs after a struggle. BB and Luffy are still tied.
Then they'll fight at around the end of the series / Raftel [the earlier from both].
So, what do you think? :P Just interested.
When we see BB next he might have one or two more crew members… And we have no idea how the next few arcs will play out. But for the best part it seems to be BB is going to be to Luffy what WB was to Roger.

And why shouldn't we go by fighting style? That's pretty much the only reason Ussop would fight Van Auger. Not to mention that's how most of the fights in One Piece have gone so far at least for Zoro and Sanji's case. And going by Sanji's fight record he would fight Burgess.
And what personality match ups? Burgess despite his appearance is fairly serious and single minded and Franky isn't like this most of the time. He's from what I can tell fairly laid back. And by your logic Zoro should fight Burgess because their both stern and serious.
And I don't see how Chopper fighting Quelch is anymore unlikely than Franky fighting Burgess especially since we've more or less seen what Burgess can do and he more or less matches Sanji. We've haven't seen what Quelch can do so who knows?
And I don't recall Franky fighting any Mexican wrestlers
true franky hasn't fought any mexican wrestlers… but hes a wannabe mexican wrestler himself! =P
when he was first introduced he was wearing a mask, and on the seatrain when he fought that wannabe CP9 agent he wrestled him down with his centaur form.
i cant see burgess beeing similar to zoro sorry... i find him more like franky, but who he's the most similar to is just an opinion.
neither can i really see him matching sanjis martial arts, ok wrestling and boxing are considered martial arts but i ant see them compatible to be a good fight, (once again its my opinion) i'm really hopeing sanji wont fight burgess.
zoro tends to have another criteria for fighting, namely that of his opponent haveing an edged weapon so hes rather unlikely to fight burgess, but i wouldnt mind if he did.
usopp vs auger because we are left with no other likely to be a serious match. personally i would rather see someone else whoop auger maybe brook.
I just dont like the idea that SH and BB matchups are that predicteble thats the biggest reason im argueing against you to come up with reasons why it shouldnt be so predicteble.

Not to jump the gun, however, we haven't seen Burgess in an actual fight. Im not saying Franky is a bad matchup for Burgess and Sanji should be the one to fight him, however, who says Burgess doesn't use weapons? True Franky uses weapons, and it would seem wrestlers don't use weapons because of their style. Guess what, sometimes wrestlers use weapons in fights. (Take a look at ECW, WWF(E), and even some Mexican wrestling) Burgess' belt could be used as a weapon. His belt could contain a weapon. He could pull a weapon out of his ass like how Franky pulls out his guitar sometimes. Heck he could even be a Devil fruit user.
My post isn't trying to state that Franky Should be the one to fight Burgess, Im defending why Franky could be a good canidate.

Fighting styles are a criteria for match-ups. Usopp is most likely someone with long range attacks, Zoro is gonna fight someone with blades etc., For people like Chopper, Franky or Robin it doesn't seem like their match-ups are decided by anything but the situation really. And for Nami, she'll fight the person who doesn't have a penis.
I don't think Chopper, Robin, and Franky have evenly and frequently fought enough to make a pattern.
Chopper's pattern is he tends to fight the morons
Really though while going by fighting styles may not work for Chopper, Robin, or Franky I think that's mostly because of how little they tend to fight or how they've appeared only recently (Franky, Brooke), it DOES work for Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Ussop. And we don't if Robin or Franky or Chopper or Brooke will ever develop a pattern or not.
On a related note Polygon who do you think would win in a serious fight in their current levels, The Blackbeard Pirates or the Strawhat Pirates. Both of the groups are at their current levels and are fighting their hardest.
Also this is a non authorial fight which means the SH's can't win because of a plot device or because they are main characters.
I'd say the BB Pirates would win. The SH Pirates would put up a fight but they would lose. Then Teach would turn in all of the SH members to the World Government. After that he would become a Shichibukai.

hehe i cant stop thinking that if Robin acctually used her power to its full potential she could whoop any non logia user (+ BB since he cant become untoucheble) any day of the week.
5 people wouldn't be that much harder then one for her. I'm not really a robin fanboy i just find her power vastly overpowered and Robins personality to be her greatest limitation.

Chopper will use guardpoint and then lay very still.
Nami will use her mirages.
Sanji will use the power of love to overcome any obstacle
Zoro will trick him with asura so that he doesnt know where to shoot.
has Robin failed to unarm anyone wielding a weapon instantly in the manga so far? im curious what auger would do without his gun.

Ah but for them too dodge or do any of the things you mentioned they'd have to be able to see Auger's bullets and I imagine Auger being a sniper would find a far away place to shoot.

I imagine the moment she makes physical contact with BB she has her power drained away not the other way round. Because darkness is meant to be the unescapable ultmitate DF power. Or something… :blink:

i think the other 2 yonkou are weaker than shanks,also BB and dragon in my point of view are the only "exceptions" that could be luffy's final villain

i kinda meant her timed bubble powers. relax hour, the one that is ranged and makes you unable to move.
also remember she is a 7 form user, from what iv seen of BB he seems kinda "slow and easy will get you there in the end" which to me says she has a great speed advantage. as well as a way to avoid dark vortex and to keep attacking him from a distance.
Does DF powers dissapear on skin to skin contact or when BB grabs his victim? crocodiles drain ability only worked from the palm of his hand iirc.

Why can't he be the top marine because of his fruit? In case you forgotten Logia's are more or less a fast way for someone to become powerful. And it's not like any random person could pick up a Logia fruit.
And then there 's the fact that a Devil Fruit effectiveness depends on how much the user trained with it and Kuzan has had it for at least 20 years.
And I don't think the Suna-Suna Fruit has a useful weakness aside from seastone.
And he is a decent fighter without his fruit.
There could be one easy way to beat him, have Moria take his shadow, then next time he gets hit with sunlight it's hasta-la-byebye.

that is assuming Moria could take anyones shadow just like that.
Personally i assume that he cant take anyones shadow in direct sunlight (or possibly even any light since team usopp was supposed to be taken to the world of shadows or something). i have my suspicion that Moria cant use any powers at all in direct sunlight.
