Honestly, I find it surprisingly better just to check the direct source, which is a pain in the ass when you are trying to do it for every anime and manga you're trying to keep up with, but it's doable. Of course, I try to look at animesuki and tokyo toshokan first.
well, you know, i bet baka-updates are the fastest to centralize new releases. i never see big delays between the official release and the moment it's announced on BU.

I didn't really like the voices when I first watched it, but I'm slowly getting used to it. I continued to keep watching for the sake of the future fight scenes, because I've never been really imaginative when it comes to reading and analyzing manga art :P

after reading the manga…i noticed that
the anime is hardly close to the manga...plot seems to be close (even tho the plot is not even there yet) but the way that its progress is quite different...

Ugh. Well the mods over at Shinsen-Subs seem to take the "no asking about releases" thing a tad serious, myself and several others inquired pretty politely if the project was dropped or not, and…
"Moderator : Locked due whining about lack of releases."
So it remains a mystery what their deal is with this show. If someone wants to start a renagade fansubbing group, I'll time the subs!

if the anime is rushing, I have no problem with it. While these episodes are humorous and good character introductions, the episodicness alone makes em kinda boring. I will keep watching as I'm sure future arc mentioned above will be well entertaining.
About episode 6: The chinese baby's ability! And shes a she! Creative use of the 10-year-bazooka, and reborn as a volleyboll player hahahaha.
Glad to see Shinsen FINALLY adress the delays in this series, especially since the put out a few others which are also available by other groups

Sooooo I started reading the manga again recently, and I'm thinking about checking out the anime again. I don't really remember much of it, as I only saw a little of the first episode and I can only really recall not liking the theme song or art, but I'm willing to go back and give it a second chance. How far is the anime now (I read the Kokuyo arc a while ago, and I'm waiting for the HQ scans to get there before I go ahead into the Vongola Rings stuff), and how much of it has been subbed?
The anime is just getting up to the Vongola Rings arc it looks like.

KEFI has scanlated volume 7(chapters 52-60) as well as chapter 61 of REBORN!, meaning the gap has been filled and every chapter up to 95 has been scanlated.

I started reading this series back when We The Fans had done the first five chapters, and handed the project over to KEFI shortly after. I read the Kokuyo arc a long time ago, and now that the chapter gap has been filled I read it again last night. The Vongola Rings arc is great so far; Iemitsu is awesome, and my favorite characters look like they're going to be getting lots of screentime, which is always nice (Dr. Shamal, Ryohei, and Lambo, especially Ryohei sweet lord I've been waiting for him to do something big for oh so long). I bought the first two volumes of the Viz release a while ago as well, and aside from "deathperation shot" I'm pretty satisfied with it.
I'll probably check out the anime sometime as well; it didn't look that well done when it first premiered, but I've seen screencaps of the recent episodes and they seem nice enough, so it can't hurt to give it another chance…

Shinuki's literal translation: as if one is to die = very deseperate. Pun between death/deseparate works really well imo.
At first I laughed and thought it was a silly joke by the author, then I thought it was a bad dubbing pun… Ah well...
I have the first (English) volume of the series right now, and I'm up to chapter 29 (somewhere around when Dino first appears) for online reading. So far, it's jumping up on my list of favourite mangas pretty quickly, and it's probably my second favourite pure comedy manga (first being Bo-bobo).

Ah, thanks for the info. This is why I don't like it when people assume something is a correct translation simply because fansubbers/scanners translate it that way.

Will an anime-only viewer miss something or is it ok to skip?
It explains more about the rings and you get some short insite about the vongolia family but that's pretty much it for episode 34.

I sort of see Reborn as part of Jump's "second tier". Usually OP, Naruto and Bleach are above it…but it makes up the second tier alongside Gintama and ES21.
