Did you say that was Gluttony? Cause…I thought that was Sloth?
-
Sloth I said it made Gluttony look like a pansy in one pic
-
Man just caught up to Chapter 66-
! Manga Sloth>Anime one
Plus, Olivia+Lin/Greed II>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FMA anime
Oh and no offense to anime fans BTW. The anime is good, but pales in comparison to the manga.
Now if only they make a manga OVA, we can all die happily -
I like the manga better because it's funny and has chibis and Manga Sloth is better than Anime Sloth and Anime Sloth wasn't lazy how can she be a Sloth, i'm not saying that i hate the anime i'm saying that Gonzo should make anime thats funny like the manga verison Welcome to NHK anime was not funny like the manga
-
Heads, up Chapter 67 RAW is out at FMAHQ.com!
! Hmm it seems that the tunnels they investigating were dug by Sloth and it turns out that what he was digging was in fact to create a form of Alchemic Circle/Array.
Also The bros' dad appears and it seems for some reason that one of my theories is surrficing- their father is probably Pride -

BONES did the FMA anime, not Gonzo.
The manga is completely superior to the anime though.
-
Holy crap. Just holy crap. The plot thickens. Again.
-
so this is like the end of the changed anime only in another town without wussified Scar
-
Except it has more development in the plan: Why was Amestris founded? How was it built on? What is the reason for the huge military campaign?
And it's not just a town. It's the entire country that's the ingredients. That and Hughes apparently found this out.
-
Any scanlations of this released yet?
-
bump. Hey, thought this would be a good place to ask for a pic.
does anyone know where I can find:
a pic with Ed's mechanical hand holding something infront of him with an open palm?
if you have anything off hand, thanks. -
I"m just going to go out and say my fav homonculus was Greed. Thank you.
-
Chapter 68 raw's out already:
-
^Yeah just saw it-
! We get to see some flashbacks of Honhiem, then someone attacks the mines, I'm betting it's Envy….or maybe Sloth's true form?!
Also it seems that Kimbley has asked Wrath about something to do with Winry.
! IMO Winry OR Olivia will be the new Lust. -
! I'm thinking that monster may have been Pride. Either that or just a random monster.
Also, can they even make a new Lust? Father was able to remake Greed and Gluttony because he had their Stones, but Mustang completely destroyed Lust's Philosopher's Stone.
-
^Hmm I forgot about that, but still how do u think he created the Homonculi tp begin with? By this I mean that he can create a certain P. Stone to contain the lives of people with a lot of greed and as such create a Greed, and likewise with other Homonculi.
-
I would think Father can just create a new core Stone from scratch. It seems like he has a virtually endless supply of normal ones, especially from that third eye.
I'm just awaiting another appearance by Scar. I miss him. :(
And since this is my first post in this topic, I'd just like to impose my opinions and say FMA manga > getting shot > FMA anime.
-
Aww, the anime wasn't that bad.
I mean
you know
it had good music and stuff.
-

The whole point of the stone in the manga is that it takes massive sacrifices to make one of the quality needed for Homunculi. If Father could just pull stones out of his ass, he wouldn't need to transmute all of Amestris. Granted, the fact that he's using it as passage to see "The Truth" is noted, but Envy said himself while they were in Gluttony's stomach that their philosopher's stones are made from hundreds of thousands of transmuted souls.
The only one that throws that off is Wrath. Unless, of course, all the stones used up till Wrath's stone was accepted by a host body were fake… but that wouldn't make sense. How would they know the perfect specimen to host Wrath?
That said, even though Wrath is the fastest and deadliest Homunculi, the possibility exists his philosopher's stone used less souls than the others to create. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to test so many soldiers for the "Fuhrer Candidate" project.
So really, I think that Lust is gone for good.
-
True, but it seems like the stone he's using Amestris to make is bigger and more powerful than most. Father seems to have quite a supply of basic stones, and it's not unthinkable that he'd have another Lust one. Possibly taking a stone from Kimbley? Who knows. But I'm damn sure the author will find a way for Father to make a new Lust, even if from scratch.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, only one soul occupies the stone Wrath has.
And Geg, y'know what the anime DID have? A pussified Scar, and that's just not right (especially considering he's my favorite character in the series). Hell, anime Scar's even built physically smaller than his manga counterpart! Now that's a wussification! =D
Besides, all the attempts at making war look like exaggerated Hell (not that it isn't Hell, but god damn does the anime just force feed that to us, or what?) can't top the Rockbells being killed by a rampaging Scar, freaking out that he has his brother's arm. That scene beats the ever-loving HELL out of the anime's "oh dear, it sucks that the military is so exaggeratingly conspiracy-driven that this main character must kill these nice people!"
Hooray for mini-rants! =D
-

But Kimbley's still alive. The question is, why do they need Kimbley to do their dirty work anyway? Sure, his alchemy is incredibly destructive, and he's the only Alchemist to survive from the Ishbalan War (Save Mustang, but that's only because they need him), but even with the philosopher's stone, he's still ridiculously more powerful than the others. Comanchi went down easily, Basque Grand caught off guard (And I think you'll agree that the manga Grand is much cooler than the Anime Grand was), Armstrong's fight got interrupted, and Hughes went down easily.
Sloth's not out for good, he'll probably get back up soon. Does it really matter if he dies, though? He pretty much finished digging the transmutation circle. That was his whole purpose.
I wonder if Ling really can overcome Greed, it looks like he's resisting the Homunculi, but it does have control over him. He seemed a little too eager to host Greed (the whole "Seeking immortality" issue); has being with Ed and Al really changed him at all?
Pride is probably that admiral talking to Olivia right now. At least, that's what I can conjecture. His face matches the shilouette, and having two people high up in military command would make Father's job a lot easier.
So that leaves the question: What the Heck is Hohenheim? A robot holding souls?
-
Yeah, the manga is way more complex than the anime.
-
Great new chapter. Hohenheim's really beginning to interest me. I think it's Pride in the tunnel, but it could just be something totally different… Remember Mei's comment last chapter about ''people crawling around'' under Amestris?
That said, I also prefer the manga. I don't hate the anime even though I consider it inferior, but that's probably because I stopped watching after about 20 episodes. (ha ha)
-
I really think Lust is gone for good. Every single time a new Homunculus has been created, it's been with a recycled stone.
When Greed was executed, he was melted and stone reprocessed, which Father drank afterwards.
Father took Gluttony's stone when he planned to remake him.
During the experiments with Wrath, everytime a host was rejected, the workers would scoop up the stone with a ladle from the bloody remains.
-
Mind you the FMA anime isn't crap. It's good, very good, but against the manga…...it's crap, no offense.
@Mog, I think what she meant was that those who have been turned to P. Stones, theirs souls still linger in the earth....that or the ppl she was talking about could be the souls/spirits of those killed by the army during it's centuries of war.
Also I think Ling will overcome Greed or pretty much resonate over him. Meaning he will be Ling but with a little more greedy than usual.
-
@Mog, I think what she meant was that those who have been turned to P. Stones, theirs souls still linger in the earth….
That wouldn't make any sense… The souls linger in the Philosopher's Stones themselves, according to Ling and Ran Fan's reactions to the Homunculi.
Given the context of the statement it seems like it actually has something to do with the usage of alchemy in Amestris. Marcoh's explanation about movement beneath the earth's crusts didn't seem to appease Mei. Hohenheim apologizing for having to ''use them'' fits in there as well.
-
Pride is not the admiral, Pride was that shadow that killed the inspection team.
Think back to when we first met Pride. We only saw his shadow, right? Ironic thing is, we were looking right at him never thinking twice that his power was that of shadows. XD
Thats what I believe anyways. I mean its a little late to introduce a beast THAT powerful whos not a main character. So im 99% sure thats pride.
It could also be whatever the thing crawling around underground is. It wouldnt be Pride tho Mog, since Mei said shes been feeling it since she came to Amestris.
Im still pretty sure its pride, but It may be whaterver is crawling around underground.
-
I think it's more likely that it's whatever's crawling underground. I loved the horrific imagery used with it, though. The whole thing was one of those moments that leads me to wonder if the author of FMA reads Berserk… The other being the whole bit inside Gluttony with Envy's true form. The severed arm clutching the horse was a nice touch, as was the bits of blood spatter on the grinning mouth in later panels with it (a nice bit of detail, there).
As for a new Lust, again, I'm sure the author will find some way to make a new one appear. The question is how, but you just know that bombshell will drop. It'll probably be an established character, too, just to make it a bigger shock.
...Nah, she'll probably do that with Pride.
Oh, and may I say, manga Kimbley is so much fucking cooler than anime Kimbley! Seriously, he's got so much more style in the manga, and I love his more reserved attitude.
-
Agreed, I love his personality in the manga. The anime put too much focus on "Wahahaha Imma mad bomber!!!".
Though I find it interesting that Kimbley only started having an important role in the manga recently. He was hinted at early on, but he never really got any development until recently. The anime didn't really have a personality to work with, I guess.
-
No one in the anime did, save "OMIGAWD WE R SO SAD THE WURLD IS SO HARD LETS CRY ALOT EXCEPT WHEN WE R BEING SILLY!"
Oi… Hate the anime...
-

He cant make another lust, stone is used up.
I dunno, I think that thing was a lil too small for something that feels like its grawling around the whole country, I still think its pride(hes supposed to be crzy strong.
Gore isnt that important to me. So I wasnt awed by it. Im more interested in the plot.
-
….Yes, because I obviously said I loved gore over plot. I'm just saying the arm was a nice touch to add a horror element, and the blood on the teeth was a nice touch. Showed consistency, and it was a nice bit of detail alot of artists wouldn'tve thought to do. Plus, it added to the horror element.
-
Hmm why do I have a feeling that Pride is
! Archer from the anime?
! I dunno about u, but Mecha-Archer was the most hilariously retarded thing I ever seen…..and Archer is like my 3rd or so fav. character -
i'm up to volume 10 and it's crazy how i can't get the plot of the manga in my mind because it's biased by the anime. when a new volumes comes out i have to thoroughly read the 2 previous ones or i'm lost.
i hope i'll get over it soon because it's a bit annoying, it's like when i read the book fight club and compared everything with the movie. in the end i couldn't enjoy the book.

which is good as I found him to be a pretty bland character -
Hahaha… I remember mecha Archer... So god damn stupid…
No, I think Pride'll end up being someone we thought was a friend to Ed and Al. Dunno who yet, but someone like that.
-
I bet it's Garfiel.

I haven't been able to read the manga yet, save the first G novel. I wonder if it will make any difference, that I will have more to read at once?
and I don't care what you guys say about the anime. I still absolutely love it. <3 It earned first place in my book. And I love the emotion portrayed by the charicters. But hey, I'm all into little house, and all that drama. Maybe you guys think little house on the prarie is EMO too?
-
No, just insipid. ;)
However, nothing short of Post-Anno's-Breakdown Evangelion can out-emo the Fullmetal Alchemist anime.

yeah same here, i've watched the anime something like 5 times and i still find it great. nowadays "emo" is just overused. it's still a great anime and when people who love bleach and can't stop discuss over its "plot" and "character development" say they hate fma the anime, then i start laughing my ass off.
-
Yes, because crying all the time amounts to deep character development, right FMA anime? Oh, and someone tie some damn weights to Winry's hair. Seriously… WAY too bouncy.
Ah, but if I start going into every detail on why the FMA anime sucks, this post'll become a novel. I shall stop…
-
It's not bad, the anime's pretty great, it's just that once you get to delving into the manga it's a million times better.
-

LOL, this guy I like
FMA and Evangelion are two of the most overrated animes. People just think crying = human emotion = depth.
I couldnt watch it more than once.
Manga is far superior. Anime had good parts(I liked how scar died) but its by no means any better than naruto(which is decent, but not excellent) I still dont see what people find deep about it. Its just full of angst.
-
I will say this about the anime, because it concerns my favorite character in the series; Scar. Good lord, was he wussified in the anime. Of the millions of examples, let me at least point this out…
The man was shrunken in the anime. What do I mean? Well, here's anime scar...
And here's manga Scar…
Big difference, huh? Now, I could go into more physical stuff (i.e. how anime Scar would get his ass kicked, while manga Scar would do the ass kicking), but their distinctly different personalities bear mention. Anime Scar has a stereotypical good-heart-behind-his-rough-exterior. Seen that crap a million times before. Manga Scar? Well, when he tries to "help" a man from being discovered by the military, he goes and literally destroys the man's face, so he has no face to recognize! Now THAT'S Scar! He has his compassion, but the man is ruthless, through-and-through. Makes sense for a man who has turned his back on his own God for the sake of revenge.
Hell, even his scar looks better in the manga. Anime Scar looks like he fell asleep in the sun, with two slugs having sex on his face, leavin g him with some akward tan-lines.

He still had compasion too for Winry, when she pointed a gun at him for killing her parents. I mean he coulda just killed the chick.
So while I wont say they arent different. The differances arent that great.
-
Me personally, I'm able to enjoy both the manga and the anime for their differences. Sure, the manga has a deeper story and better art, but I think the anime is great too. I think of the anime as a what-if storyline thus I'm able to enjoy it. One of the few animes I watch over and over. That's just me tho.
-
@Le:

I hear you all the way, man. I liked the way the anime ended. Conquerer of Shambala was decent, but had sort of a dissapointing ending. Besides, they turned Hughes into a Nazi.
I never realized how much was changed in the anime until reading the manga, like how Scar killed Tucker instead of him being a chimera in Lab 5. Cyborg Archer was possibly the most out-of-place idea that the writers most likely
pulled out of their asses. Al becoming the Philosopher's Stone was unexpected, too.About the anime being too "emo", that's not necesarilly true. I don't think the Elric brothers acted that angsty. Sure, Alphonse was a bit too sensetive and cried alot, but it's not like he's as emo and angst-ridden as let's say….Sasuke.
-

I said he had compassion, but it's a different kind of compassion. He gave her fair warning, because she wasn't his enemy. If she had fired it, however, he would've killed her (like he said). Anime Scar was just too nice-nice for a serial killer.
And, the Elrics not being that angsty?! Ed spent half the series lookin' down! Thanks to that show, I know exactly what Vic Mignogna would sound like if you said something to make him cry!
Best example of the angstification would be when Al thought he was artificial. In the manga, they had a fight, then made up. In the anime, Al ran away, both of them sulked, Scar helped some kids, and all of our time was wasted.
