One Piece 295 - Vegapunk

@mkt:
PS! I have a Mac, and reencoding in a VM is not possible… Tell me how to do it in VLC, besides I don't want to make it Xvid/Divx.
:wassat:
Um.. mkt why are you so eager to have it playable in quicktime? i just checked using the iStat widget, and saw that playing the avi files in quicktime (for ep 294) uses ~25% more cpu time than playing it in VLC. I assume that the same hold for the mp4 container. And while its true that quicktime cant open the nonstandard mp4 files, the only reason you seem to want it in quicktime rather than vlc is because of frontrow (your cpu usage reasoning is quite obviously false). If you really want to control the episode so badly with a remote (only reason you'd want to use frontrow), try a program called SofaControl it lets you use the remote with VLC.Now while i dont know what apps will let you just change the container format from mp4 to avi, if you are really desperate, then you can do a full reencode (within os x) using a program called ffmpegX (this supports encoding with h.264, as well as xvid, divx, and others).

Istat does not show you graphics performance, and I know that because I have that widget.
Anyway, I can already control VLC with my remote, so that's not the problem. I just preffer Quicktime, end of story. And yes I know it's bad of me because VLC is Open Source and all that, but I really just preffer the interface that Quicktime uses.

glad i could help
296 HDTV raw is out i'm gonna enjoy my first 720p one piece thanks to vegapunk! Will be waiting for the SD sub though…wonder how the avi will turn out in h264
-
Hmm anywhere near 296?
-
Judging from the number of complaints in the adc thread about vegapunk, i would say a encoded SD release should be a priority(since a lot people still use crappy compys, such as myself). I don't mind using seperate subtitles, but it seems there are people out there who just don't get it… I'm only offering some suggestions, but so far, i am pleased with vegapunk and their releases. I'm sure once you get your website in order releases will be a lot more speedy. Anyway, keep up the good work.

Well, those who prefer ADC, no one is stopping them. It's about time people who wants to switch to HD get what they want. There are choices that people can make, some(alot actually) prefer to wait for K-F.
But I don't think you need a very powerful comp to play HD, just a desent comp is sufficient. It's not like playing HD will require you to buy a Core 2 extreme with a 8800GTX graphic card. Some people has the processing power to play HD just that they don't know how to configure it properly or they have viruses, trojans or tons of programs running in the background.
And for those people who said Vegapunk is lazy because they release scripts, they are wrong!! Vegapunk gave a alot of choices by releasing scripts. And they even provide a hardsub for those who want hardsub. So all I'm saying.. Keep up the good work Vegapunk!

My computer is 5 years old and it plays the HD subs just fine. Granted, it was cutting edge when I got it, but still…5 years man.

Heso!
I hate to ask a tech question. I have a MP4 player called MP4 Player Classic. I had been able to watch my early One Piece episodes from K-F on it. Now they will not work. I wanted to know if there was another MP4 Player out there. I would like to be able to watch my older episodes and see if I can watch the new MP4 episodes from Vegapunk too.
Any help would be greatly welcomed.

You can either use the easy VLC player available at videolan.org or the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack). There are probably other alternatives, but these are the most common. If you use Windows, most users will probably reccomend you CCCP.

MP4 classic or Media Player Classic?
I've been using Media Player Classic + ffdshow and it has never disappoint me.. (K-F, ADC and Vegapunk) Yet..
You can get it at www.codecs.com
There's also VLC, only these two players I recommend..

Just a short update on 296 - the translation is done, and it is currently being timed. Kuzan was temporarily without electricity, so we were kind of stuck or awhile. In the future we are going to try to build in some redundancy so that at least 2 people will be available to do every job in case something comes up and the regular person isn't available.
-
great news, i guess after timing comes encoding, but the softsub script is released after translating and timing or am i missing something?
-
If the highest pixel setting my comp has 1024 by 768 is it imposible to play high def which is 1280 by 720 or do I need to configure somethign differently?
-
it'll work but you won't completely enjoy hd until you have at least 1280x800 or 1280x1024 resolution on your display. but don't worry you'll still notice a big difference
-
Heso!
Thank you guys so much. The problem I had with my MP4 player has now been fixed. I used the Combined Codec Pack. I might try the other player too. Anyway thanks again.
-
I'll let Kuzan to make the official thread, but the 296 script has been released. You can get it here.
-
thank you VP! great job and your download page is great too

You previously complained about cpu usage, not gpu (in addition, video decoding is dont mostly by the cpu not the gpu)… and quicktime uses SIGNiFICANTLY more cpu resources than VLC, thus any problems you would see such as framskips and such would be more likely to occur in quicktime. VLC is also skinnable...

Holy crap these HD's lag like hell.. downloading the SD's now.

I was wondering if there was a .avi version of 295 instead of the .mp4 as it sort of looks a bit odd having lots of .avi's then a single .mp4 then back to .avi's again. Is there anyone that's got a decent converted version?
-
Sometimes it already works if you replace .mp4 with .avi

Sorry for the inconsistency in our first few releases (starting up a fansub group is a lot of work). But, actually 295 was our second official release, so it's not like there was a bunch of .avi's released before that, and then we suddenly switched. We had originally planned to switch permanently to .mp4, but so many people complained that they wanted .avi, so we decided to go with .avi. 295 v1 is actually .avi, and there is a torrent for it. It doesn't have a working tracker and may not have any seeds anymore, but you can try it - http://www.isohunt.com/download/16846800/vegapunk. Or you have the option of downloading our SD release for 295, which is .avi, or watching the HD RAW with our softsubs script.
We have plans to possibly rerelease all of our early episodes with improved timing and effects, and in that case we would use .avi for 295. But, keeping up with the new releases is keeping us VERY busy, so I'm not sure if or when that will happen.
-
Yeah it was more or less dead and only got about 7.5%, I might just wait for ADC to post 295 then if they don't continue I will get the rest of your eps from now on.

I just found out that 295 HD version 1 is available for direct download from animeEDEN (http://www.anime-eden.com). You will have to register, but it's free. It has some mistakes, which is why there is a version 2, so I can't vouch for the quality, but it seems to be the only HD .avi version of 295 available.

Can't just find it.. 295 from anime-eden. Little help pls
Edit: Is there something going on at Vegapunk-site since can't download from there?

At anime-eden.com, click on "anime" right under the animeEDEN logo. It should open a drop-down menu. Select "series". It will bring up a page that has a list of all the anime series for which they have episodes available. Scroll down and select "One Piece" and it should bring up a list of all the OP episodes, including 295. It might not work properly unless you are logged in.
As far as the VP site, we do experience too much periodic downtime, so if something is not working there, wait awhile and check back later, and hopefully it will be functioning properly agian. We are looking into the possibility of hosting the site somewhere else.
