We do not complain about the Japanese anime changing stuff from the manga because it is Japan(the place where the author resides) changing it. If it is what the author watches, why complain??? We are offended by VIZ who try to take One Piece, change names, edit art and then they act like nothing is changed. They have lied about why they change names, VIZ have said:
1. Zoro is trademarked by Disney, <<
2. Zoro is copywritten,
3. The author told us to change it, <<
4. 4Kids Entertainment told us to change it,
5. Zolo is his original name, <<
6. We have never had the name "Zoro". <<
The truth is:
1. Zoro is not trademarked by Disney like VIZ says. You can check the USPTO(United States Patent and Trademark Office) for this information.
2. It is not possible to put a copyright on a name.
3. Why would Eiichiro Oda tell VIZ to change Zoro's name???
4. I have emailed 4Kids and Roz Nowicki told me that they never told VIZ to change the name and that VIZ only want to copy the American dub.
5. Zolo is not his original Japanese name. We know this.
6. VIZ had the name Zoro for 2 years.
In Shonen Jump issue #1 the editors stated, "All of the pictures in the panels will remain unchanged as their authors originally intended."
VIZ have had a ton of edits in all their titles from changing cigs to gum, erasing middle fingers, changing names, changing "balls" to "tum-tum", eliminating most all mild language, editing comical nudity, changing attack names, etc, etc, etc.
And they think no one notices.
