Also, I wonder if Impact dials can be broken?
I doubt that they can absorb an infinite amount of energy, but they're pretty hardy. They were able to survive Yama's bulk ramming into things after all.
I'd like to see one of them take a shot from Dorry or Broggy just to see how strong they really are.
-
dorry and broggy aren't that strong, compared to lucchi's shigan. i'd like to see lucchi does shigan on usopp and gets blocked with impact dial.
that'd be super.
omg, that just brought an idea to mind. if impact dials can absorb shigan, usopp can use the dial to test how good the tekkai is against shigan….

dorry and broggy aren't that strong, compared to lucchi's shigan.Just by sheer mass alone they ought to be vastly stronger than Rob Lucci. It's a simple matter of weight ratios, like a swallow carrying a coconut.
Eh, if you insist, then let's see one take a shot from Whitebeard.
Or an axe dial take a strike from Mihawk, whoever was on the business end of that dial when it was used would be screwed.

Same here, I haven't wanted to see somebody get their asses kicked this much in a long time.

Don't impact dials do internal damage though? If so, then anything they do outside their body would not affect the damage dealt by the dial.
Or was that just reject dials?

i think that's just reject. and i don't think usopp got that one.
-
I feel pretty certain Usopp will play some kind of role in taking down CP9, if just to make him feel less useless after getting beat up and losing all the cash. An impact dial absorbing a shigan sounds like a pretty good idea. Of course Usopp has so far seen Bruno almost use it against Franky but then be stopped by Lucchi so as not to kill him. Maybe Usopp will be ready next time the shigan comes knowing its deadly strength.
-
actually, it might be more interesting to see usopp got punctured with shigan on his chest IN FRONT OF LUFFY. as usopp collapses to the ground, luffy goes berserk.

I wonder how much are CP9 traned to be beaten up. Sure, their offence is very good, but in case if anybody (ie. Usopp) sneaks up from behind and do whatever e1n wrote? It'll be either they would notice before Usopp attacks since they're that good or they'll fail…

That'd be good too, though by the end of this arc I definatly think Usopp will have taken down a CP9

I think it's ineternal too. Remember, it hurt Luffy. And it couldn't be just Reject, because it was said to be ten times stronger, not a whole different type of attack.
You guys really think Whitebeard could beat Lucci in his beast form?

You guys really think Whitebeard could beat Lucci in his beast form? They wouldn't needlessly call him the strongest man in the world. But it would be an interesting match up.
The whole deal with dials is interesting. Yeah, I bet they will have somekind of effect to the out come of the arc. Rokushiki is a bit limited though. There're only two offensive moves, two defensive moves and two moves for moving around. Sure it's enough to defeat the most of the opponents they come across but it also makes them easy to foresee. Luckily they do have devil fruits and personal weaponries.
I think it's possible that Oro Jackson was modified Pluton technology. If it was Pluton in it's entire form, no doubt, now it would be a commonly know fact. Tom himself said it's not what something is, it's how you use it. He could have builded a Pluton but without making it the ancient weapon. Using the technology could have been Tom's real crime and maybe this same technology was used to save Franky's life, hence it would become Franky's crime too. This could also somehow explain why there're no blueprints to give away anymore. In the end Franky's crime has something to do with the current location of the blueprints.

Gawd, I'm tearing up just thinking about it…
-
I really wonder what is with Robin…
[[ Tom: Yes. The world will be ruined.
Tahaha...!!
But now, it's all up to you two!!
You can even get rid of them, if they become too dangerous.
And also...
I've got one more thing that's bothering me. (We see Robins Wanted Poster)]] -
Hmm….
Robin destroyed a fleet of ships, right?
And Tom builds ships, right?
Maybe there's something in that? -
I think Tom's just worried about that fact she can find the other ancient weapons. Then again it is possible that she destroyed eight of tom's ships. but then why would Iceburg want to meet with her so bad?

I think that theroy has a lot going for it. Though i still think franky holds the plans in his body, or in a cyborgish brain :P
-
i think the whole "robin destroyed 8 ships and hence got the bounty" is most likely just a cover up. that way no one knows what crime she actually got her bounty for (which is for being able to read the ancient language)
so far, the evidences have pointed out to the conclusion that robin earned her bounty because of her POTENTIAL to reawaken the ancient weapon, whatever the hell it is. but obviously the government doesn't want pirates to know that she has that ability, because then bad pirates (remember croc?) will try to use her to revive the ancient weapons, and if that does happen, the government will not be able to stop him. hence they made up stuff about robin destroying 8 ships.
as for roger and his oro jackson ship, i think it's just an awesome ship that tom built. roger doesn't seem to be the type of person who would focus on powerful ships (unlike krieg, who has shitloads of galleons) i doubt oro jackson has any relation to the pluton blueprints that tom has.
and don't forget…. with all the talk about pluton that's going around, everyone seems to be forgetting about poseidon. and from the skypiean tablet, it seems like roger is more interested in poseidon than pluton
-
I agree that the reason for her enormous bounty is probably her knowledge of poneglyphs, but I don't think that sinking 8 ships is just a cover up. I think it probably happened. Why would the Marines cover that up by saying that 8 of their ships were sunk by a little girl? That's humiliating! And Robin said that did it, didn't she?
Also (off topic)(sorta), in the anime Robin says that she comes from a long line of archaeologists. Was that in the manga? -

wasnt that part of the reason that ussop left the crew…luffy fighting battles for ussop

i think the reason he left the crew is more the fact that he feels that he is of no use to the crew since luffy zoro and sanji are strong enough already. luffy has NEVER fought usopp's battles for him. even zoro only cut the branch and let usopp take the final hit on jango.
and my idea of getting luffy to go berserk is not that he will fight for usopp, but the fact that despite the whole "leaving the crew" thing, there is still a strong bond between them. and like luffy said at the end of the davybackfight, "i will fight to death for my nakama!!"
-
part of the reason i said…and he fought the frankies for ussop
thats kind of fighting ussops battles and yes everyone else is stronger than him except for nami -
luffy fought the frankies not for usopp, but for "a friend."
remember that luffy is like whitebeard. he doesn't like it when people mess around with his friends. but i dont think that is in any way "fighting for usopp."
or, at least, not intended to be so. i don't know if usopp takes it a different way.
let's ask him. usopp?
-
you know what's just great? all that waiting at break just makes weeks seem like literally nothing.
-
I guess. It's still a bit hard to believe that OP comes out every week after that long break.
And in response to Yoska: maybe Whitebeard's only called the strongest man because he's yet to meet Lucci.

Usopp doesn't need to be strong. His precision with guns and the like make up for it. If Usopp realized his own potential, he'd be able to fight bigger and better fights then the one he had with Luffy.
-
I'm getting weak…must have...chapter 355...must find...valid link...cough... haaaack!... could somebody send me a valid link? Please......I need the...okay, I'll quit the drama, I still haven't found a valid link for chapter 355. Would somebody lend me a hand? (he asks for the fourth time) Sorry, my computer is very...selective, and doesn't really let anything work on it. I would really appreciate it. Thanks!^_^

the only reason he did well against luffy is because he knows luffy he doesnt no anything about the other people.and another reason luffyhad him on the team was because of yasopp and they were freinds
ps i like usopp as charecter not a fighter -
The link on the second post in this thread should still work.

And in response to Yoska: maybe Whitebeard's only called the strongest man because he's yet to meet Lucci.Perhaps, perhaps. I got a feeling we won't know whether Whity can live up to for he's name or not in a long time. But I wonder, does the title "strongest man in the world" mean he just has absurd amount of pure strenght ? He has big shoes to fill, that's for sure. ~Not that he's huge already…
the only reason he did well against luffy is because he knows luffy
Usopp fought well because he felt confident against Luffy. This is what usually lacks from him while he's fighting. It was a fight he picked up by himself and he knew what he was doing. If he could do the same more often I would feel pity on Usopp's opponents, peace for their souls.

Hmmmm, great chapter. Thank you to oceanizer for the link :)
Looks like the flashback still continues. I wonder how long the flashback will last? :mellow:For some reason, flashbacks doesn't work on me too well. Perhaps it's because the tension from the main story is too gripping :P
-
Note that the flashback isn't only telling us about Franky and Ice and Tom, we're also getting more info on the CP units.
Okay, bring on 356, I wanna see a giant puffer fish tear shit up.
-
Yeah… hitting F5 life has began... But I don't think we'll get it early this week (last week, we were 1 day early) because there's no holiday or anything...
-
This next chapter most likely is going to end the flashback. Hopefully someone beats up Spandam, I can't stand him. Also, if Tom was worried about Nico Robin, why would Iceburg want to meet her?
-
I think it will continue at least one and half chapters. <– loves flashbacks
Also, if Tom was worried about Nico Robin, why would Iceburg want to meet her?
We really don't know yet what Tom thought about Robin.
Spandam is cute.
-
Because Iceburg wanted to kill her so that they don't have to worry about it any more.

I doubt it. We still have to find out how Tom dies, how Franky becomes a Cyborg, and how he started Frankies' family.
-
That could all go down in one chapter. Though Oda does usuallly take his time…
Spandam is cute.
Banned.
-
I like Spandam, he's like a mix between Buggy and Inspector Zenigata. Well, I DID like him, until the end of this chapter.
Usopp is probably my favorite as a fighter, because he relies solely on his wits for his victories. The Strawhats have gotten out of a ton of messes thanks solely to his skill and brains.

you mean his "running away and hiding" skills? ^_^
-
Nah, I mean like him figuring out how to free everyone from Mr. 3's Candle Service, figuring out how to get up to the Maxim, etc.
-
haha. i know that carter. i was joking. ^_^
-
Oh man, I'm starving for 336. This flashback, if anything else, has me really intrigued. And by the end, I'll probably have gone through two boxes of tissues.
-
I'd say no more than 3 more chapters of flashback.
-
Yeah I'm ready for 356. Puff out those guns Tom.
-
any chance it'll come out this wednesday?
-
Only the Shadow knows…
-
Meh, not having a chapter isn't too bad. I like the thought of pondering over some of the older issues and getting better acquainted with what I might have missed in past chapters. Besides, as some folks mentioned in the 'comments section', Oda is a newlywed and certainly deserves more time with his wife than just a week-long honeymoon. Let the man take his break and come back when he has relaxed a bit.
Anyway, back to the discussion. I like how Spandam's face looks in black and white. It sort of looks like a skull (death coming for Tom possibly?). As for Usopp's fighting skills, if he put his mind too it, he could be the Batman of the OP world. I would love to see him make an auxilary ship with a prow that sticks out like his nose (Usopp Gandola maybe?). His creations are funny, but they tend to apply themselves to his battles very well. I can see Usopp getting more fight time as the series winds down. The shuriken and his grappling line from Skypiea are what made me draw the Batman connection, but I also thought the Usopp vs. Luffy fight was indicative of this link. That fight reminded me of Batman vs. Superman in Frank Miller's "The Dark Knight Returns". Batman pulls the prime tricks out of his bag and levels the unbeatable icon. Heck, if Usopp had some seastone pellets, he might have done the same sort of thing. I'm not sure if I think his fighting style is the best, but it's really great to watch (especially in the anime).
-
Ha, good comparision.
The only thing I like about Spandam is that he looks a bit like Franky.
As for 356, I hope it's the ending for the next volume. 355 just doesn't seem like a good place to leave off to me. Unless Oda's going for the cliffhanger thing.
-

Banned.NOOHH~~! Spandam's cute
I never thought about Usopp and Batman. Even I, a plain old heterosexual guy, have to give up before Usopp's sexiness in Batman's nipple spandex.
It would be nice if the flashback could fit between covers of the next volume. Hasn't it been like that with all long flashbacks before. I mean, they hasn't continued into following volumes, right ? Although I don't think it matters that much.
-
Usopp's armor would probably look a lot like Don Quixote's armor: a collander or a dish pan as a helmet, aluminum foil on cardboard as knight's armor (or spray-painted silver cardboard), Usopp Hammer with rubber spikes (like a mace, Usopp is not the kind of guy to use a lance in my opinion) or his slingshot and Chopper as his stead. Wow, that mental image made me giggle pretty hard.
