(Let's plan out the timeline of One Piece episode 285.)
The opening senquence and sponsor screen play for the first 2:40 minutes.
A short scene telling you once again about Gol D. Roger's last words plays until 3:17.
An entire recap of the last episode plays and lasts until 6:57.
An extremely drawn out scene of the Straw Hats being thrown about in slow motion and then each CP9 member turning the screen forces me into 8:00 minutes.
Spanda and the CP9 supposodly '"hurry" by processing a simple order in only one minute and 15 seconds. We are now at 9:15.
The Straw Hats take another few minutes to stand up. 10:56.
That fat tranny tells the Straw Hats of the keys. The time is now 13:24.
The bastard starts to sing and basically rephrase the last minutes in song. The time is 14:35.
The Straw Hats rephrase everything once again until 15:39.
The intermission animations play until 16:04.
They replay the last few seconds as if we couldn't remember them from 30 seconds ago. The time is now 16:35.
Spanda and Lucci bring Robin through the hallways, while Chimney and the rabbit follow, like we care about them. 18:22.
A supposedly "comical" scene with Luffy repeats itself over and over for 43 seconds until the time is 19:05.
A door opens in 50 seconds. 19:55.
Something interesting happens finally, until 23:23, where the 'To be Continued' screen shows.
Why does it seem like I'm getting ripped off here? Instead of a 23:59 minute program of fun and adventure, I get 15 minutes of recap and drawn out sequences and 8 minutes of fun. Back in Arabasta, they would have new – not repetitive -- material every episode, and it kept me interested.
Am I the only one who feels this way?
