Pretty freaking sweet! Gintama is here apparently (along with Yu-Gi-Oh! GX too ufortunetly), or at least uber close.
-
It's gonna be interesting to see how Gintama gets handled do to some crude humor and cultural jokes that might be hard to translate. Either way I'm definitely not refilling my subscription in march, all I ever read is One Piece SK and YYH
-
I think it's too early for YugiohGX manga they only done 11 chapters and they have not relesed a volume let in japan. Why can't they do Bobobo-bo or Kinnikuman or Jigoku Sensei Nube or KochiKame?
-
KonchiKame is way to long. But I would like to see Bobobo (apparently it wasn't popular enough despite good sales).
-
Bobobo was great the way the one volume was done. If not in ASJ, then I wish they'd at least release the other volumes!!! This is about the only thing Viz has ever done to make me angry
-
As much as I would like to see bobobo in ASJ I would so much more rather see Vandel buster. Yes it isnt a weekly jump series, but I am freaking tired of having to wait 6 months for the next book to come out. 1 chapter per month would be awesome.
That being said, I would rather have bobobo then gx.
-

Agreed. Bobobo is one of the series I want to bloody collect!
-
But wait Viz released Golgo 13 and that was long
-
But is it over 1400 chapters and something like 140 tankos?
-
…Is there any name or translation changes or not??
-
As far as I know there are no name changes because no new people were intro. in these chapters . Gintama is picking up after the chapter they had in Jan. 2006 issue .

Fuuuuuuuck!! That's the one issue I didn't buy!
-
I just got the December issue.
-Luffy is on the cover.
-All the cover pages are there.
-Includes tips for Pirates' Carnival and news and Edited DVD Volume 6.
-Has info on volcanoes(tie-in to the volcano the giants use to signal the start of their fights.
-"Dorry the Blue" and "Broggy the Red" used.
-Mr. 3 ate the Wax-Wax Fruit.-Starting next month, Gintama and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX will have one chapter each in every SJ issue.
-
Only one chapter of Gintama?!
-
Only one chapter of Gintama?!
Yep, can you say "one volume released every nine months"? :getlost:
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!fainted
-
Ouch, just ouch. :getlost:
-
So are they dropping any series? Or is YGH-egypt almost finished? Still 1 chapter a month suckssss
-

They're not dropping anything right now. The other series still get the same amount of chapters.
-
One chapter a fricking month?! What the hell? Why?
-
Yeah I can see gx, but not gintama. Is it because they don't want to catch up to japan since they only have like 14 volumes? If so why the hell are they publishing d.graymen
-
I believe D.Gray-Man and Reborn! have a three month gap. I've also noticed they should be slowing down JoJo and Dr. Slump next year.
-

I don't know. They give no reason why.
BTW, the December issue features a full page on Sakata Gintoki.
-
If they want to release the series slowly, thats fine and makes sens. However it's taken them about three years to publish ten Shaman King and YuYu Hakusho volumes at two chapters a month.

Slowing down jojo makes no sense considering the series is finished. Same with slump.
-
But wait Viz released Golgo 13 and that was long
Keep in mind Viz was hoping Golgo 13 will be the flagship of its Signature line, which it isn't (a seat taken by some samurai manga and Monster), not to mention Viz hasn't translated every volume of Golgo.

It means Viz will be adding new series into the monthly anthology. Hopefully, they'll do the same thing for OP and N- since once N- hits filler heck, they'll lose their synergy bonus from the anime.

I know nothing about Slump's popularity, but Jojo isn't liked well in the states outside of the internet, so if Stardust Crusaders didn't take off and Viz licenses only three volumes in advance, they can still hold onto the series license without looking like they dropped the series.
Dropping a series is bad for a private company because it shows they're running out of funds, as they couldn't maintain profitability for the series they dropped.
So, basically, to ensure Jojo still gets serialized, you guys get a slower publication rate. :/

Ahh, so that's why Reborn! has a three month gap. I wasn't sure how long the series has gotten in Japan so far.

Personally I'd rather see them only publish a few series and publish say three or four chapters a month for each of them to increase the speed of the graphic novels. It isn't always easy to get Shonen Jump over here which is why I prefer the graphic novels.

I'm dissapointed to hear about JoJo's low popularity. I was hoping Viz would eventually publish all of the six/seven stories. How annoying.

Don't take what I say as fact, mind you, since I don't even have data for that; it's just been word of mouth confirmation from a lot of people I know that they either don't know about Jojo or dislike it.
-
Ahh fair enough.
-
just got new issue great one piece(giant fight) and
naruto(final exam garra pt 1) chapters
vol 5 issue 1 adds new manga hope to see bobobobo next -

Why do you say that? What does it say about Bobobo?
-
I believe D.Gray-Man and Reborn! have a three month gap. I've also noticed they should be slowing down JoJo and Dr. Slump next year.
I dunno much about D. Gray-Man, but why would Dr. Slump be slowed down? The series was written 20 years ago, for chrissakes.
As for Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (Why'd they change the name anyway?), it's only into its third major arc, the Vongola Rings Arc. So they need a little more material. I mean, look at Fullmetal Alchemist. Volume 10 was just released this month. In Japan, they just hit Volume 16. If you figure 1 chapter per month and 4 chapters per tonko, and the fact that Viz is releasing a Tonko every 2 months, it'll catch up before long.
I dunno, I like Dr. Slump. I think the smoking edits are stupid, but whatever. I also dislike how they renamed Dying Will Bullet to Deathperation Shot (WTH), but I can overlook that. They keep in the Italian terms, at least. Should be interesting when they introduce the other Arcobaleno.
-
Why do you say that? What does it say about Bobobo?
I'm guessing he meant, "Hope to see Bobobo next". They're putting Gintama and YuGiOh! GX in the magazine starting in the january issue. (kinda bogus; one chapter a month. :/ That's like, 1 graphic novel a year, isn't it?)
-
Ooh right. I was under the impression they hinted at including the series. Bare in mind Bobobo is in the Advanced SJ range and so far they seem to have little to do with it in ASJ bar a few references here and there. I've also heard that either Bobobo didn't do well enough to warent Viz giving it a full release or it did well but Viz still don't want to give it a full release.
-
It's possible you lot might see Busou Renkin or Reborn! in ASJ; I seriously doubt Bobobo, though.
-

Oh god definatly my local store either gets three in at a time or none at all its totally random as to what issues of sj I get. It has gotten so bad I've had to not buy them at all.
I just get the books themselves now
-

I can't see Busou Renkin in their. It's a 10 volume series and volume 3 comes out in December. I see no point in that. Maybe Reborn! though.
-

Agreed. I know of two shops that MIGHT get them (thankfully I was able to get the issue with Yahiko no Sakabtou. I still feel it should have been put in Kenshin #26 instead of the Buso Renkin preview), but until recently both shops hardly got any new ones.
-
I'm personally pissed, I could find Shonen Jump everywhere, in every store including groceries. But as of around a year ago, it vanished. I can't find it anywhere now!
-

Why? One chapter per month would quadruple the length of serialization; well, not quite, since Viz already released BR #1, but for the other nine volumes chapters would be released at a fourth of the speed in normal Jump.
Think of it this way; Slump was an average-length series (note that OP is huge) and it finished its run in ASJ. Why not BR?
-
erm.. Dr. Slump was never in ASJ aside from a single preview chapter, unless I'm misunderstanding you.. (the graphic novels are still being released aswell. they're only on.. 12-13 or so.)
-

As Captain Kaze said, Dr.Slump hasn't finished it's run the US, and is still being released as graphic novels.
-
Viz reps at Comic-Con indicated that Bobobo was relatively unpopular, so I doubt it'll appear in Jump.

Yeah, when they came out and said "If we ever do more of Bo-bobo, we'll let you know!", I knew is was basically them saying that's it's not gonna happen.
-
Yea a serialization in Jump is wishful thinking.
Eventual release of any of the rest of the Bobo GNs would be sweet tho.
