All of Akane's big bros gotta be cool.
Akane-banashi

I love Osaka. Well, Kyoto most, but I love the Kansai region in general. Fuck Edo.
-
akane harem banashi
-
a mini-arc to scream "She is THAT girl" and, honestly, work snaps fingers
-
Ooooh is shinta going to reenter the story in a more active capacity (at least for a little while?)
-
If I had seen or heard about Asagao punching Rien's lights out I simply would have promoted him. Maybe we'll get lucky and see Rien get punched again in present day too.
Asagao deserves all the good things coming his way imo. He's a good fella.
-
He's a great Ani.
-
Got a bit excited towards the end of the chapter and was a bit "LET'S GO AKANE CHAN!" lol she's a good protag
-
Akane Banashi PV, I want to learn how to animate manga panels because I love the effect. If an anime is around the corner, I also hope they continue using the Yamaguchi duo (Usopp + daughter) they tried out in an earlier voiced comic who really do have rakugo experience.
-

It's a really good collage style. Always love it.

That's nice.

Good to see Jumbo again. I wish we could see akane's former school advisor/teacher too. I'm surprised she hasn't popped up again yet considering we see jumbo every other arc and even get one or two panels of akane's friends here and there.
Akane is adorable in pigtails.
-
Wait, wen did Akane reach college age?
And we need to see one of Jumbo's judo matches. Akane owes him that.
-
Well, we knew at least one of these masters would be a petty dickhead.
-
ah yes finally a dose of reality compromising of bias and human abhorrence in professional settings just like in the real world.
for real for real -
This is called "positive thinking".
-
So shiguma inherited the name then like with enso sanmeitei. So bitterness is probably at least part of the reason is issho is a mean old man...maybe. I'm ready for more Arakawa rakugo family drama. Give me all the juicy details.
-
I love how the story is not exclusively centered on Rakugo and we still get to see Akane work at a restaurant or hang out with her pals from time to time. It's not much and it's never disconnected from the main plot, but it really breathes life in the story.
Also, lmao at the modern tanuki speech. Now I 100% want to see it
-
Solid set up chapter.
I wanna see some fists fly amongst the rakugo fed, even though I know it'll probably never happen lol.
Zensho needs a a good wallop at least. Wishful thinking, I know. -
He's going to get a good burn sometime, at least.
One thing I like about this is that, despite not succeeding, Akane's dad had a lot of friends in rakugo who respected him.
-
oooh the mis en place was beautifully done. Reminded me of the Marineford chapter Oda made to present the Marine forces, lol.
-
Afro-Ass certainly has a good evil grin.
-
"Shinta Arakawa is dead"
Such a good chapter.
Shinta has been a ghost haunting the narrative and that line just sums it up perfectly. -
I wasn't this excited to see a dad in action in a shonen since Isshin Kurosaki (sadly he did not live up to the hype, but here we go)
-
Well, given how different a character he is, this should go a very different route.
-
And once again we see how Afro-Ass ruins people.
-
Might be a minor complaint but I didn't want Akane to meet his father before the show. Obviously it wasn't a meeting like Luffy and Shanks with tons on buildup and years of waiting, and at the end of the day he's still her father and she probably sees him very often (though being your run-of-the-mill Japanese salesman, maybe not), but I would have liked for her to notice him in the audience and not get overwhelmed just when she started her story.
-
@Goukan thats a little more cliche to me if it happened that way. This felt more natural and grounded. Like if I were in his shoes, I won't want to throw my daughter off like that. And it will be a deliberate decision from me to do so too.
-
He looks so embarrassed that Akane caught him bringing Taizen back. It's adorable.
But no matter how or where he showed up, this is his first time watching Akane's professional rakugo in person. So excited.
-
Hey look, I think Akane's mom is in the audience too.
-
Go Akane. Seeing flashback kiddo akane in any compacity is always so delightful. Tbh I don't think I really noticed how older akane was less expressive or more "traditional" compared to others but thinking back we've never really seen her break out any truly goofy faces. Maybe borderline silly, but nothing outrageously expressive compared to some of the other rakugo performers.
-
Lovely double page spread at the end!
-
Rakugo multi-verse!
-
cool domain expansion!!!

Into the Rakugoverse

Congrats on 100 Chapters!!! Woo!!!
Loved the atmosphere of village in the opening couple of pages with all the little callbacks to other rakugo stories.
Don't let Asagao down, Akane!!! -
Rakugo-verse, indeed . . .
Makes me think of Whose Line, the ultimate in improv.
-
ok they went kinda nuts with the 3 color pages, love them though.
she getting high in her own mind creations is a bit too close to home to don't feel warm about it all. loved the chapter <3
