Well here's hoping he doesn't get beaten by causing a pier to collapse on top of himself.

Oh wow I forgot about this series. I kind of got bored during the outer space stuff in season 3
Does it get better at that. The last episode I watched was 15 or so when they met their clones. -

Does it get better at that. The last episode I watched was 15 or so when they met their clones.Well I guess, they stop the triceratons from destroying earth but the fugitoid sacrifices himself to do so. Shredder and his crew goes into hiding after Splinter kicks his ass for the umpteenth time.
Now we're getting a loose adaptation of the City At War arc.
-
Wow… that was a cliffhanger.
! Shredder's transformation into Super Shredder was creepy. The fight between Splinter and Shredder was really good. Now, I'm wondering how will the turtles will get out their current situation being surrounded by Rocksteady and a lot of Foot ninjas.
-
We're a week til the season finale and the show is NOT playing around.
! last week TigerClaw got one his arms sliced off.
! And this week SuperShredder seemingly killed Splinter. Like for real. He beat the he'll out of him then gutted him from behind in front of Raphael and April. Then chucked his body off the skyscraper while the other 3 turtles give chase and shout in horror. Sure they recreate the ending of the first movie by having shredder end up in a dumpster with Casey "accidentally " turning it on. But it was a really sad and somber ending -
! Tiger Claw got Panthroed and Splinter gets (offed for like the 4th time).
Not much new in the world of TMNT.
-
Apparently the new season starting March 19 is set to be the last, with a new 2D series due to replace it fall 2018: http://variety.com/2017/tv/news/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-reboot-2d-1202000951/

Well it had a somewhat good run.

are these two new movies worth watching???

Eh, I dunno. I think the second one is better, if you watch only one. They're not as retched as TMNT III, but I don't have any particular love for them.
-
Why does everyone have such a problem with TMNT 3? It was fine. It wasn't a usual turtles movie, but had it been one of like, 12 movies, no one would have a problem with it.
Its just cause it was the last one and it didn't have Shredder. But it had a ton of solid character moments and a reasonable change of pace.
Yet for some reason Turtles with the villains with the brains of babies calling Shredder "mama" that ends with Vanilla Ice rap and Shredder being beaten by speakers gets a pass?

Certainly, if there had been more films, III wouldn't have gone down as the worst. The reason being that we would have had a TMNT IV that had an even lower budget, worse animatronics, more pop culture puns to stand in for actual wit, a lamer villain, fewer fight scenes, more ridiculous plot twists, and even fewer returning actors.
To be honest, I don't outright love any of the films, not even the first one, but I can certainly respect the effort that went into them. II wasn't wonderful, but the lame parts were still outweighed by the good animatronics, decent action and the message of finding purpose despite being born accidentally. III was just a mess wrought by further budget cuts with seriously worse turtle faces and even less action, and Walker was a lame, lame villain. I'm still not sure what the message of III is supposed to be: betrayal is OK if you betray someone else? Go home because the girl wants her boyfriend back?
If I had to rank the films, I'd personally go, best to worst: Original -> TMNT '07 -> OotS -> II -> 2014 -> III

Stick with your family, don't run away from your problems? I dunno. The scene where Raph pulls aside the little kid and says "no matter what happens tomorrow, play. Just play." just works for me. And the fish out of water setup, where some of them want to stay and some want to go back works well even if it wasn't explored at length. It had a lot of little character moments where they were enjoying themselves. No budget, sure, but good character moments. The execution of the villain was weak, but that actual idea of him as a weapons trader in that time period was solid.
And they got Casey back, so that was something.
I dunno. It was a story the comics would have done, as opposed to the 80's cartoon, so maybe thats why I take to it better than most. Yes, it was dumb, but at least it didn't horribly date itself instantly. Vanilla Ice was passe by the time the movie even came out.
The first movie is still by far the best, no question.

It's amazing how I suddenly have an urge to watch the movie again just to see where you're coming from. It has been some years, so maybe I'll give it a fair shot.
-
Oh its probably not worth rewatching unless you plan to marathon all three. It's still not good and has problems.
It just always baffles me that 2 gets a pass, but 3 is the bad one.
Even though 2 is looooaded with logic holes, villains that were literally babies, a ridiculous finale, and a super anti-climactic super shredder.
I think people mostly forgive 2 because it had new monsters in it… even if they had baby brains. And it continued to have Shredder which was everyone's comfort zone. If 3 had another monster critter in it as a minion, or an ancient foot clan, it would have been better received probably.
And then the live action tv show exists, and that should really forgive any sins of the movies in terms of plot or horrid costumes or awful scripts.
-
Why does everyone have such a problem with TMNT 3?
I'm guessing Turtles In Time spoiled people:ninja:
And they got Casey back, so that was something.
Wasn't Casey stuck in the present while everyone was in the past where most of the story played out?
and a super anti-climactic super shredder.
You know it's something that the Shredder fight in the reboot was essentially what the Super Shredder fight in SOTO could've should've been…but no we got what we got Shredder getting defeated by a collapsing pier......that he brought down himself.
-
So I finally caught up with the TV series. The last 4 episodes of Season 4 was interesting. A lot of changing points. Though the Tokka episode was really pointless and filler to the max. But the last three were way more anti-status quo than I was expecting.

USAGI!
-
Awesome to see that Usagi is going to be in Season 5.
-
Usagi's scar is always so hard to make out since it falls right on top of his brow.
That reminds me, I still need to pick up volume 30…. and volume 31 comes out in a couple months...
-
wanders by thread I didn't know you liked 3,Robby. I always wondered where the hate came from too. Its not that bad. And I question 2 getting a pass, as well. Lol.
Glad to see people are watching the new cartoon now. I was sad a few years back when I came in this thread and no one was talking about it.

Probably was taking a wait and see approach before commenting on it too much. I know, I was.

I had to coax Robby into watching it at first. It's different, that's for sure. Not the best version but I'm enjoying it. Wasn't big on the space season though.
It's fun watching it with Robby now, with all the franchise history. All these characters that pop up, he explains to me who they are, where they originated, and how they're different in this new version. It will be fun to see usagi yojimbo in this new season. I remember liking him in the 80's cartoon. I know he's different in that version. Robby is really into him and has the comics, so this season coming up will be really fun to watch with him.

I'm hard pressed to think the 2003 series is ever going to be topped overall… largely due to its loyalty to the mirage comics and straight adapting a bunch of stories I grew up reading...
But that one certainly had its weaknesses too... especially the later seasons after they timetravelled and ruined it entirely.
The Archie comic will always be my favorite though. I haven't reread it in years but...
-
That time travel crap never existed. >_>
-
I feel like that this new series picked what was good of the 80s and 2003 series and mix them up in it's own thing.
Though I do prefer the 2003 Purple Dragons….They were called Purple Dragons in that version, right?

Yes, they were called the Purple Dragons.

Much like the Donnie and April thing and the Space/Time Travel Shenanigans in the 2012 series never existed?

Yeah except what they tried to do didn't always work unfortunately, Bishop being a kraang in this version (whose a good guy instead of anti-villian) but has nowhere near the bad ass cred that the Bishop from the 2003 series had is one such example.
-
I loved the new version of Irma. XD That was the best thing ever.
-
Those are some nice Cowboy Bebop jazz vibes.
-
@Count:

It reminds more of Venture Bros' theme song, especially with the cut-out photoshop filter being used so much with the 3D models. I find it hilarious that Casey Jones is simply not in the intro because the director forgot about it. I think there's a lot of really cool stuff in that new intro, but honestly I think some tings look REALLY bad name the title card appear with clearly still poses translating. You could edit together this and the original trailer and make a super awesome one, to be honest.
-
@Count:

Total Bebop influences felt here. Not feeling the tales of the turtles title though.
-
The "Tales of…" title works for me because it makes it feel more split from the last 4 seasons. It feels like an epilogue, which is fitting after the way season 4 ended.
-
"Tales of" is fine and harkens to the tradition the comics had where they had the side line to tell stories of whatever and whenever they wanted by any creative team, that they did without mucking with the ongoing continuity of the main series.
It's got tradition. And if this entire season is just standalone short stories spliced into the past then it extra works. On the other hand, if its a straight forward follow up to the previous season and moves in chronological order, then its just a weird rebranding so they can change the numbering on the dvd boxes and toy line.
-
That Usagi episode. Maaaan. Can this be a backdoor pilot and we get an entire series of that?
-

No .
-
Usagi's always deserved more TV exposure than just TMNT cameos.
-
I'm finally getting around to watching this. I'm still only in the early parts of season 2. But I finally got out out of season 1.
April's weird…Uh. spidy sense is interesting I guess. Weird alien experiment stuff lol.
Donatello's crush is still extremely creepy lol.
Raph having constant anger issues or maybe cause I'm marathoning it it seems like a large portion of episodes focus on him.
Mikey is extra dumb but it's kinda adorable. He's kinda Beast Boy-ish.
Leo probably with the least development?
Casey Jones missing teeth is actually kinda a nice touch lol.
I like the way the action looks but it still seems weird to almost always have the emptiest NYC. Budgeting I assume?
The villains are all kinda...Meh? Although I do like the way the Kraang talk. And since theykeep losing mutants they accidentally create that they are forming a angry mutant alliance lol.
April Derp is the horrifying thing lol.
-
Thankfully New York seems to populate a bit more in the third season. Also Leo gets some great character moments also (tho I am biased as he's my fav Turtle).
For some reason my DVR didn't record the second Usagi episode, good thing On Demand had it. I rather enjoyed the trilogy, and kinda wish it lasted a bit longer. Tho I would have liked the humbling of Kintaro to be a bit more established other than Leo just taking a quick new approach to dealing with him (way to go team leader!)
-
I just want a full blown Usagi series now.
Of course, I've wanted that for years.
Stupid Bucky O Hare ruining it for him.
(Okay, Bucky is is actually fine and not stupid. But his show tanking did end any chances of Usagi getting one.)
-
Going by the pitch, Space Usagi would have been pretty stiff. Unless they made a bunch of changes, I'm not really seeing it taking off.
-
What the hell was up with those Mad Max episodes.
-
What the hell was up with those Mad Max episodes.
What were these Mad Max episodes?…...admittedly I've been off the show for the last few months (not because of anything on the show's hands).
-
They just did three episodes set in a messed up apocalyptic future. Wasn't a dream or a setup for a timetravel story or Michelangelo writing a story, it was just… a couple really messed up episodes that were 100% Mad Max/Dark Knight/Logan that given the context we have to assume are the actual ending for the series 50 years later and its messed up.
Also Raphael can grow a beard for some reason.
Aside from the fact there's a set of Halloween episodes left still coming but thats sequence breaking scheduling for the holiday rather than production order.
Obviously they wanted to take the "tales" format and have fun with stuff in their last season but… there's nothing to make this a "what if".
-
Someone on the production team must really like post apocalyptic stories…...and Same As It Never Was.
Also apparently those episodes were apart of the series finale.....like what the hell?
-
Here is the cast announcement for Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
-
Sure hope this doesn't start off promising but collapses under the weight of it's shaky writing, poor pacing, & mischeduling.

Wow, that really does describe every series.

Yeah while it was mostly directed at 2012 even 2003 as good as it was had a few of those problems…....even before Flash Forward.
