Now this was a nicely-animated episode. Sure, plenty of flashback padding. But they made it count where it mattered. That traitor's reveal, man oh man, I've been waiting a long time for that moment, and it delivered. The way the droplets showing his acting face disintegrated was pretty nice, but that smile… Ooh, gave me chills! Brilliant stuff on the imagery front.
The padded conversations, though? Eh, I could have lived without the extra Kin blaming, and the two times someone agreed with Kiku when it was just once before, but most of it worked to give everyone something to say. It was really the scene of Shinobu and Momo getting ambushed that irked me. It really made the situation less a matter of being taken by surprise and more like a slow response, which I wouldn't expect from a ninja.
Still, a major improvement from last week. We've actually been watching every week, but I haven't thought to comment much before now. One earlier anime-added thing I'll say I loved was the death scene of Toki, with the moon reflected in that pool of blood. It was brilliant imagery, and I do think on the whole that Wano has really stepped up the game, especially D'ART's output. Madillo Man, that was something else...
