**Best Moment of the Year :.**Roger Laughing when he discovers the One Piece. In a way, it reassured me that whatever One Piece ends up being, I will not be dissapointed. Even if it ends up being a dumb fart joke from Joy Boy.
Worst Moment of the Year: Big Mom being easily handled by Robin, Jinbei and Franky. This is the same character that was such a massive threat, we spent most of an arc simply running away from her.
Best New Character of the Year: ULTI. Without a shadow of a doubt she is the best and most entertaining character to show up after the Calamaties were introduced. She's incredibly confident, entertaining, and I think her love for her brother is a really interesting character trait. Plus she's the rare One Piece female that feels naturally strong and competent. I also loved that she's the only one of the flying six willing to talk back to Kaidou. She kind of reminds me of Nami, in the times when she's confident and assured. Ulti is hands down the 3rd best Beast Pirate. Queen still takes number one.
Worst New Character: Not a fair assesment. But all of the new gifters we've seen in Onigashima. I still don't understand how anyone can willingly subject themselves to such a shitty existance.
Best Fight of the Year: Luffy vs Ulti. It was short, but the choreography was great. I loved that Ulti is the first female opponent whose given Luffy a run for his money in terms of raw strength. They also have similar personalities, and it was interesting to see them onscreen together. Ulti is what I wish Bonney could have been like.
Worst Fight of the Year: Kanjurou vs Scabbards. Why was it offscreened? That was one of the rare moments where I would say that Oda kind of failed as an author.
Best Surprise of the Year: The reveal of Kaidou's fruit. I would have never guessed he had Fish Fish fruit.
Worst Surprise of the Year: The reason Oden was acting a fool for such a long time. It was one of the rare times when I feel Oda completely dropped the ball on a character's motivation. It was really lame to see a "powerful" guy get completely pacified because some citizens were threatened. Why couldn't Oden just beat up and take care of the threat. He had strong allies and the respect of the country. But Oda had to come up with some contrived reason to make him a pariah. Really hated that plot point.
Quote of the Year: "When you are on the Seas.. You fight with pirates" Funniest Moment of the Year: Kinemon's unintended genius.
