So what's the point of bringing all those characters if you can't play with them ? Maybe they'll pull a Unlimited World Red and create a dlc for us to play with them ?

The characters obviously play a role in the story. Whether they're playable or not is irrelevant.
It really shouldn't be reiterated again that Ganbarion isn't trying to make this like Unlimited World Red. -
Weekly Shonen Jump scan.

More details are out.
It looks promising, I would still prefer Pirate Warriors 4 though.
-
I would prefer not to play the same One Piece musou formula for the fourth time.

Yeah…..at least until the story gets further ahead to justify another.

When the hell did Buggy get a six pack?
In One Piece, you either have a six pack or a beer belly. Buggy doesn't look like the kind of clown who likes to chug ale all day.
-
Another One.
-
I'm glad my clown brother Buggy has finally got a six-pack. Even a clown has to workout sometimes.
-
I'm glorifying! This look is just too perfect.
Damn, Oda, you need to bring best guy back to the manga asap

For the 50th damn time, it's only Luffy because the gameplay is tailored to his abilities. Instead of a dumbed-down, vanilla game like the Unlimited series.

Tailored to his abilities ? Luffy has a myriad of abilities and this game only goes along with 2-3 known attacks. The rest is generic as hell. For example G2 isn't the high speed hell Luffy can give nor can he combine his hardening with it. Also since when does hardening make you slow ?

Also the setting of this game is just plain boring. OP is the series with all these beautiful islands and they could only come up with this dead setting. Jail island is the worst island ever in any OP related thing ever

In adventuring, you goon.

Sounds safe and limiting.
This franchise is flexible and adaptable enough to fit whatever vision the developers want to have. -

This so much. I mean, I obviously get why people want to play as the other Strawhats, but it'll always be half-assed because it's just too much work otherwise for these type of games. Getting to play a game where they at least put in some effort in gameplay for Luffy specifically is much more appealing to me.
There will be other One Piece games that focus on the entire crew anyways.

You realize that most big games allow you to play only one character? Games that allow you to play with a massive roster are mostly cash grab garbo, which is how Bandai Namco treats most of its anime franchises. Thankfully, it seems One Piece (and soon Dragon Ball as well) has escaped the curse, which is surely something to be excited about.
If the game allowed you to play with more than one character, it would limit the potential ways of exploration to be easy enough to allow the likes of Chopper and Usopp to be able to reach all the places, which means the maps won't be built to make you utilize Luffy's rubber abilities.
The map itself is large enough, with a prison, marine base, port, country side, and metroplian city, having to adventure through underground and in a sky island, what's to not be excited about?
Luffy's skillset is well developed, with both regular moves, and some attacks that work as a shooter, as well as the observation haki that works as a radar. The game also has a skill tree, for you to develop your abilities, and unlock gear fourth with its huge capabilities.
Not to speak about the variety of missions, you're allowed to play to develop your karma with the indviduals in the game.
No normal game could handle giving a skill tree and a karma system to anything more than one character, expecting every Strawhat is a specially dumb thing, unless you want a different type of game, a 2D or 3D fighter, or perhaps a beat-em-up. -

While I can understand how it's a good thing to tailor an exploration game around a single character, I'm still disappointed that the rest of the crew aren't playable.
Unlimited Cruise managed to have 9 playable Strawhats and was a pretty sweet adventure game. The combat may have been shallow, but I'm the kind of fan who's satisfied just being able to control a variety of characters. I'm highly susceptible to fanservice. And even then, I think it's possible to have 9 (maybe 10) playable Strawhats AND a deep, fulfilling exploration experience. Each Strawhat has his/her own unique ability that could help with traversing different sorts of terrain. Brook can run on water, Chopper can dig underground, Sanji can Sky Walk, etc. We don't even need a skill tree for that. Use each character's strength whenever it's appropriate and explore all sorts of different environments. That's the kind of One Piece game I've always dreamed of playing.
This game isn't for me. :(

Was there anything new in VJump this month? It is out next month, so just expecting something.

What's a One Piece game supposed to look like?
This game looks and moves too realistically. It looks kind of bland and typical, not a fun, cartoony OP game. But I haven't played it yet, and I'm sure I'll love it even so. Mine is already preordered.

That's a big map.
Watching the long demo now. Looks fun. I just hate the bland, photo-realistic backgrounds. I wish the world looked more like the characters.
-
Not so much personality with that map but I'm pre-ordering the game

I was randomly looking on the Xbox store and noticed there was deluxe edition of the game which includes an episode pass, and 3 more Luffy outfits. I didn't see a price for the standalone pass but it was $89.99 for the deluxe edition.

The price for the pass is $30 for Steam. Safe to bet that it will be the same for consoles as well.

I wonder why it's only Evil Huey, Dewy and Louie and where Judge/Reiju are.

The First DLC will out on summer 2019.

When does the review embargo for this game end? I'd like to pick it up Friday, but not if it, you know, sucks.

I'm still trying to reconcile the fact that the Vinsmokes are even in this at all, given that the opening cinematic a few posts up has the villain referencing Luffy's post-Dressrosa bounty rather than his post-WCI one…
I know trying to make it fit into some sort of canon timeline ordering is a fool's errand, but I can't understand how they're present in a storyline set before they're introduced. :/
