This makes me salty. And I hate using salty as a feeling.
JUMP FORCE (2019 Video Game)

If I have to guess, they'll most likely be side characters from franchises that already have their main character in the base game, because it would be too weird for them to license a show only for it to be DLC only.
Some company to create a bigger base use to publish a cheaper base for their game with a little core of characters (or teams or modes) and make the rest available as dlc. I think this is a great idea, it makes the game accessible to a bigger public and everyone can choose what they want to buy. If then the customer likes the game he'll be inclined to buy other parts of it (I'd say if they're worth, but nowadays people pay a lot for costumes, so…), and maybe he wouldn't have bought the game itself if it was full price. That's what happens with games like The King of Fighters, PES or the biggest remunerative titles such as Fortnite and Pokemon Go.
I think this could be a great strategy for this game, they could introduce more characters from the big brands and just a few for lesser known. This way people will see them anyway and could get interested in brands they didn't know about or were never moved to give them a chance. There are even fans who are interested only in a brand and will want more characters from that band, so the One Piece fan will buy all One Piece's characters and so on.EDIT: another example is Dead By Daylight, in which there are licensed characters but are only accessible through DLCs for a fee and it is a winning strategy since every year more characters are released and more brands are included in it

https://store.bandainamcoent.eu/it/product/496162/jump-force-edizione-per-collezionisti-ps4
Preorders are open, the limited goes for 300€
It does include 9 DLC characters (which can be purchased even separately), 30 cm diorama shown in image, steelbook, 3 art board (28x28 cm) and the customizables included in normal preorder.–- Update From New Post Merge ---
C17 from Dragon Ball is the first dlc character announced (they told he's the 8th, has already been shown the 9th and I've missed it?).
I think there could be 2 from One Piece, 2 from Dragon Ball, 2 from Naruto and the remaining from other brands if they want to push their 3 top seller. I expect Ace and one among Law, Nami, Boa, Shanks and Whitebeard. -
That would be kind of ok, if the base game wasn't like 60 already.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
They seem to have reduced the number of sparks, effects and particles on scene (good) but seem to either have boosted the camera changes to see the face of the characters screaming (bad) or is just a showcase of those specific attacks?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I wanted to Blackbeard stop Ichigo's lame final sword like JWAHSHCsh did.

So this game still looks like Burning Blood (which I pretty much hated) but…..it has playable Kurapika. Wasn't going to buy it but now I don't know.
-

Right, I confused them.
I've seen the new videos, graphics look always gorgeous and it's easy to see visuals were their main target. Now I'd really like a videoguide which shows all the game mechanics (movement, dodging, combos, ecc) to get an idea of how deep and articulated it is.
-
Oh my god, that collector's edition is ridiculous. Hopefully there's a version somewhere in the middle pricing-wise.
-
I'm guessing I'm the only one who wants to see Katokyo Hitman Reborn characters in this game
Also hoping for some Toriko, Beelzebub, Jojo and Fist of the North Star characters
-
I want everyone with chapters counts over 180 in this (plus the shorties but goodies like death note).
-
-
Your image is broken.
-
And so is our heart
-
I'd take this as an indirect confirmation of a stand user.
-
Don't you need like 3 monsters to summon Slifer? Yugi has only 2.
-
There are some bullshit magic cards around.

RWBY gets into English WSJ, <youtubers go:="" rwby="" confirmed="" for="" jump="" force="">Sigh.
American series, who's manga adaptation was from Ultra Jump.
Come on people, there are 50 years story of the magazine, and at least 30 of them are very likelly fair game, did they comb already all of Buronson's series? What about Korosensei and Neuro? Other 80's hits, Kinikuman, Cobra?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh yeah, development time, something that happened THIS WEEK can't be in a 3d fighting game releasing in less than 6 months, even if the process and reveal was handled behind the scenes a year ago.</youtubers>

It isn't worse than people who thinks Fairy Tail is part of Shonen Jump.
-
True true, at least they see shueisha before posting.
-
I will never, ever buy this game, but knowing Teach is a playable (over other more popular villains) makes me so happy. He might not be a favorite character to the vast majority of the fan base, but that didn't stop his looming main antagonist role in the series from being trumped by the greater marketability of villains like Doffy or Akainu, in this all star game's roster determination.
-
Tbh, toxicity at face level, my true opinion of this game:
I want it to fail, as it is not the crossover that I want.
Everything that points it closer to failure makes me happy, while things that points it to success makes me.. not unhappy but to scowl and say "so it won't be the worst huh?"If it manages to pull through and be a good base game, not counting the story mode, business model, character selection or character creation, just fun and good combat, I'll eat crow and apologize for my negativity.

MY feelings exaclty. Looks clunky as hunk though, despite some interesting graphics.
EDIT: I know I typed hunk. It's too funny to change it, but not too funny to address it.

Wanting a game to fail is just plain petty.
Hundreds of people work stressful crunch time to make these games. Why hope for something that could potentially put someone's livelihood at risk? -
I guess this game caused people to see red…..like roses. :ninja:
-
Because it is a petty attempt of making a lazy game and coasting on the value of the IP. Wether it is greed or plain time limit, the result is the same, this game is being built by confusing interests and objectives.
Granted, it can't even fail, too many people will buy it by it's name only, and be the typical cheap anime game, but with recent modeling and technologies.
Next game even if it is done properly, will have to carry this one stigmas, just like this one is carrying victory vs stench, and burning blood's meh-ness.

Wanting a game to fail is just plain petty.
Hundreds of people work stressful crunch time to make these games. Why hope for something that could potentially put someone's livelihood at risk?To continue with the point, just because they crunch it should be a success? If they fail BECAUSE they crunched is a net win for everybody, to keep on exposing the exploitative nature of the industry. Then we are both speaking out of our assess, we don't know how Spike Chunsoft treats it's employees.
If "thoughts and prayers" do nothing, then it is exactly the same with my admitedly toxic, but retractable comment.
Speaking of retractable, I also left the way out wide open in my original post: I renounced about complaining (toxicly) about Story Mode, Character Creation, Character Selection and Business Model, the things that the team most likelly are unable to affect, focusing only on the things that they can, presentation (environments, models, textures, particles and music) and gameplay.

The main problem is that nearly every 'behind the back' perspective fighting game is underwhelming.
-
This "spectacle" kind of game is a better fit as a Musou game, as you can be as showy, slow and spectacle based as you want.
-
People seem to be liking the Kill La Kill Game developed by Arc Systems.
-
It's Arc Systems, DBFighterZ isn't good because it's dragon ball, but because it's Arc Systems. Dragon Ball led it into a global audience tho.

(I hope to not have misunderstood what you meant, that is you think a musou would be more spectacular than his)
I think musou is a genre that should have died with the PS2: old, boring and exceeded. How can be spectacular a game where you just run and repeatedly smash hundreds of identical enemies which don't even move?
I bought Pirate Warriors limited when it came out, to support the game and I hoped they would create something better and maybe different in future. I just couldn't buy PW2-3, despite having a good representation of the usable characters those games are way too boring. This game could have old mechanics, with their pros and cons largely known, but at least it has great graphics (which could be improved and reused as a base for a better game) and they're also trying something new inserting real world stages. Their goal isn't clearly to make something hardcore, so I'd take this game for what it is: a title made to satisfy big masses of fans and enlarge single brands bases.
Sadly fighting games didn't evolve that much during time, I haven't seen in the last 10 years a 3D-stage game which redefined the genre and created a gameplay fresh and innovative. The only exception I can think of at the moment, and I know a lot of people will think I'm crazy, is the first Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm: at the time it was impressing how CC2 managed to create a perfect camera system that could track smoothly characters and a lot of effects on screen, plus characters' movements were very fluid and dynamic. That was a great base as a first game, but things went bad when they had to introduce overpowered names and huge transformations. -
I enjoy a Musou game once in a while, the spectacle and fanservice of Hyrule Warriors and One Piece Pirate warriors was just the candy that I needed at that point in life, and if they aren't going with a 2d fighting game closer to the manga astetics of the most famous manga magazine of the world, then a 3d power fantasy is more entretaining to me than an asymetrical 3d figther.
I do agree that the naruto figthing games seem to be the best 3d fighters around. Tekken and Soul Calibur being way too rigid and "normal".

Lmao this is so damn wrong it hurts.

Max, this hot take made my soul hurt.
-
Lol, sorry about that. I had a soul calibur fase, never clicked with Tekken, and my play time with naruto is on the single digits.
But I stand by my Musou point, I'd take a mediocre musou over a mediocre 3d fighter.
-
Except Dynasty Warriors 9. That was an experiment gone so very wrong.
-
The Naruto Storm games are only the best in the tiny-genre of Anime Arena Fighters, of which Jump Force appears to be another lackluster contribution.
-
The main problem is that nearly every 'behind the back' perspective fighting game is underwhelming.
To be pretty fair traditional 2D fighters aren't exactly surefire hits themselves.

DBZ's global popularity Sure as heck didn't lead to anyone outside of Japan getting Ultimate Butoden…..but we got Extreme Butdoen.

-
Did saw Seiya comming, did not see another saint comming as well.
-
The Libra Armor is the best Armor imo.
-
God, they look cool!

True, but unlike this genre, 2D (and regular 3D fighters) actually have many, many, many good examples of good games within their subgenre.

I've got a code for the closed beta being held this weekend, but sadly I'll be able to play it only during tomorrow's session. I've already downloaded it and it shows 6 custom characters (appearence and moves) and you have to choose one, I don't know if once servers are open I'll be able to play with the same characters which were included in the demo or I'll have to use my avatar.
If there's something you'd like to know let me know and I'll see if I can figure it out. -
I wonder if dataminers will crack this one open.
-
As an side note, it's funny looking at the roster thus far, and how many of them range from fairly good-looking to outright bishonen…..and then there's Blackbeard's ugly, 11-foot ass grinning it up.
Well, there is Frieza, too, but I suppose he has a sort of elegant demeanor to him.
-

Yeah people tend to forget him and Zarbon had some rather not "amazing" looking forms in the story….which also tends to mean we don't get his King Cold Form either in spite of not looking as derpy.
-
God damn, I hate this game's logo. It is just the most generic thing ever (just the name of the game with the classic orange/blue opposition in the most bland way).
I am always bothered by it whenever I see something related to this game…This said, I was a bit excited watching Seiya and Shiryu. Would have preferred the God Clothes instead of the Gold ones, though.
-
How powerful are saint seiya characters in the manga? are they like DBZ/Toriko level strong?
-
A saint has a series of bullshit powers that their energy comes from nuclear fusion out of their bodies, by "exploding their cosmos" as the atoms are like planets. They can punch at the speed of light, and so forth.
They manage to punch some gods.
Real answer: it doesn't matter.
Speaking of logos and music, jump's marvel ripoff at the start of this trailer was on point, sadly they still have the needesly "epic" movie trailer music for the gameplay itself.
-
I've played it for 2 hours, both vs CPU and online. I have my thoughts confirmed: it is beautiful to look at but the gameplay is the same of every other similar title. I don't like how the camera moves, it's easy losing track of your enemy and sometimes you can't even see him if he's in front of you, especially while using Blackbeard which covers a big portion of screen. Special moves are nice to see at the beginning, but they break continuosly the pace and it's absurd you can't dodge the ones which transform you. Definetely something unplayable competitevely for the lot of choices maded which prefer visuals over mechanics.
As soon as I can I'll post some screenshots and other impressions. -
Played the Jump Force beta for a bit yesterday. It was pretty terrible. The character models look super ugly. The controls don't feel great. I have no intention in attending any more sessions. At least the beta saved me from possibly wasting money on curiosity. So that is a plus at least. Just a complete mess all around.
-
Ah well, what a shame. Concept was fun, at least.
