16 days amigos. Barcelona (or spain?) has a hollidays on the sixth, I took the 7th as vacation.
Do the digital releases get launched at midnight? I'm deciding on digital or physical based on that fact.

Bought my switch this weekend. Finally I will be able to join the Smash consumers rather than just watching from outside (the only nintendo home console I owned before was the N64).
7 Characters left:
Diddy Kong, Yoshi, Mewtwo, Lucas
Roy, Mr G&W, Bayonetta
Not that it matters anymore, but I kinda wanted to keep the countdown.
Is it just me or does Viridi sound like Angelica from Rugrats now?
! Music being datamined atm.
Reportedly over 1000 tracks.
! I'm super disappointed that Mother only got two new remixes of old songs, and even then, I kinda prefer the originals. For a series that has four stages and two characters, you'd think they could get even one more new song. I guess it's time to join the few 'Duster for DLC' cultists and hope that there's a new stage and music coming?
! On the brighter side of new music, the Gravity Man remix is highly good:
!
Here's an almost complete song list, with a lot of information that's helpful for figuring outwhich things are new and which things are remixes.
! I am so glad the tremendous Hyrule Castle theme from BotW made it in! No remix, but it doesn't need one.
Here's an almost complete song list, with a lot of information that's helpful for figuring outwhich things are new and which things are remixes.
! Nothing from Xenoblade X?
! And I knew it was a long shot but I was hoping for some Chrono Trigger songs too.
! My impression on the tracklist is that the 800 SONGS are disappointingly chosen/distributed, but the remixes are well-made, and there's still a ton of good.
! It seems that the big emphasis of new tracks is on newer games, which makes sense, but it means there aren't too many new classic tracks. There's nothing at all from, say any of the first three Paper Mario games, but there's one track from Color Splash and several (why) tracks from M&L: Paper Jam of all things. The distribution of new tracks among characters is bizarre. Nothing new for Wario or Kid Icarus, Yoshi only gets one, Mother gets two, Star Fox gets three, Wii Fit gets four somehow, F-Zero gets nine (which I love, but that's pretty disproportionate compared to how much Nintendo cares about the series), and then Fire Emblem of course gets like 14 (I think even more, since I'm pretty sure at least one confirmed one isn't on this list).
! There isn't a whole lot of rhyme or reason to it. Some deficiencies we know are due to contracts (FF7's whopping 2 tracks), but it's hard to imagine they'd have trouble getting the rights for some of the first party releases with more anemic selections. None of it is proportional to the amount of stages the songs need to support (Mother has 4 stages and 14 songs, where Castlevania, Splatoon, Street Fighter and Megaman each have in the 20s and 30s for their single stages). The one thing that makes sense is that Nintendo's biggest series are getting the most attention. I know there's a budget, and some of those disproportions are probably due to ease of access (that's the only way to explain Wii Fit getting any new tracks at all), but still it seems like a huge missed opportunity to round out the musical selections representing so many iconic series. Even just a couple more original cuts for some franchises would have gone a long way.
! The good: the remixes I've been hearing so far are pretty top notch, and the original selections are pretty decent. Most of all, almost every song from the previous games has made it back, including ones that had been previously cut. A few of the cuts even have new remixes, so they aren't totally gone. A good portion of the tracks with new remixes seem to have their previous versions in the game as well. These returning tracks make up a good chunk of the soundtrack, so fans of the music from the previous games don't have too much to be disappointed about (although some of the cuts they did make are pretty disappointing).
! With 800+ tracks, there's a lot to be happy about. As with many things Smash, I think it's better to look at the 800 tracks as the 800+ tracks Nintnedo were able to make happen, and not 800+ slots that they had to fill and then proceeded to take up 34 with new Mario tracks. It's just a shame that they didn't focus their time and resources differently to provide a somewhat more balanced library.
Oh damn!
! I did not expect Ever Oasis songs in there!
There was an interview that most remix were chosen by the composers to make. I'll try to track it down.

On the topic of the songs, I'm fairly happy with some remixes (crocodile cacophony and Wood Man in particular), but for me the most glaring omission is Xenoblade Chronicles X music. It's such a glaring omission that I wonder if it was not having permission for the songs everywhere or holding back on them for Elma DLC, both of which sound unlikely to me.
Other questionable ones for me is the distinct lack of Rhythm Heaven songs (only 3 for 4 games in an ongoing series, and not even a stage?) and a couple glaring omissions from the Pokemon songs (no Guzma theme?)
I also wish there had been more of the Sonic Mania songs. And more unique Tropical Freeze songs (they go for the one that is just jungle hijinx again, lmao), though admittedly by this point I'll just keep Crocodile Cacophony and Gangplank-Galleon on look.
( Actually, can we talk about how we went from one Gangplank Galleon to essentially three? Like, I wish someone said "ok guys, we all like (x) song, but let's spread out the remixes to more songs!" )
Hey, thanks.
I haven't sat down and tracked remix beside the ones that have been posted here, and 5 of the 16 versions of lifeligth.
I was going to chalk the lack of x music for gaur plains, but the one that doesn't fit is the city one, the rest are perfectly appropriate for the stage.

Well then….MAESTRO, MUSIC!!!!!!!!
I dislike Dark Samus being an echo of Samus, as it breaks the order of the original 12. Should have been a full clone, or better, just to keep my OCD in check sakurai!!!

ngl, it kinda hurts my OCD too. Dark Samus is also the newcomer i have the least amount of zeal to try out. :P
I went into the mother lode of leaks, and I won't talk about it.
What I can offer you with enthusiasm is this:

No. I'll see vague posts but I wanna be surprised come 12/7.
Today is:
Falcon DAY
11 to go. Of all smashers, the one that seems like came out out of "dragon punch" ie, the project that became smash, more untouched was the good Captain, as the screenshots look a lot like his roundhouse kicks.
! Based on some of the stuff that's come out, people have been making a few DLC predictions, which I would take with the tallest mountain of salt you can wrap your mouth around, but at least are fun to dream about for now:
! Spirits are missing on Porky and Sylux, despite the former having been important in Brawl and the latter being apparently important in the upcoming Metroid Prime 4, while other less important characters have gotten spirits (including the Absolutely Safe Capsule).
! Porky seems like a bit of a stretch, since we know Nintendo had a hand in selecting characters for DLC, and unless they're finally finally getting around to porting Mother 3 somehow, I wouldn't get my hopes up, but I do want to believe.
! Sylux seems more of an interesting choice with MP4 looming in the distance, but we did already get two new Metroid representatives this generation and maybe making a moveset referencing MP4 in any way would be a spoiler.
! Additionally, there's evidence of a few some Rare properties in the files (Jet Force Gemini and Blast Corps.) that aren't accessible in the game, but some people are looking at the Rare acknowledgement and speculating on Banjo for Smash again. This is still a long shot, though it is interesting that some of Rare's work for Nintendo made it in in some way.
Nested spoilers from what Wagomu said and other datamined content:
! Speaking of Porky, would you believe that Galeon or whatever that robot is named got in as a boss and our fat evil child overlord didn't?
! Yeah, after Gelleom returning, it seemed like ported Brawl bosses were a shoe-in, but there's no Rayquaza either.
! Rayquaza, though, got a spirit, along with all other non-reappearing Brawl bosses, so Porky's complete absence is definitely weird. On top of that, New Pork City is still a stage and it still has the Porky statue on it, so I can see why people are bringing up the DLC possibility. Porky being a character is a way nicer answer than Nintendo dropped the ball on Mother again, haha.
! Thing is, that every newcomer comes with songs and stage. What stage and music could be pulled from earthbound still to fill the price point of a Bayoneta in wiiu-sized content pack?
! Like, Gygas' battle? The creepy side of Earthbound tunes?
! In this line of thought, I can't fathom them letting in Bandana Dee.
! They never said the new stage had to correspond to the new character, but there's some good potential. The Empire Porky Building could be a stage by itself, traveling up all the 100th(?) floors, before crashing down to the cave underneath. Osohe Castle could be a good simpler stage, set in one of the halls with the needle in the background, ghosts and soldiers coming in as hazards.
-
! As for music cracks knuckles the Mother series has hundreds of great tracks to choose from. If they did the Empire Porky Building stage, they could make a medley of the different tracks from each floor. Otherwise, here's just a few really good ones that I'd love to see in Smash (this is just from my cursory glance at the soundtracks):
! Mother 3:
-
- - - -
Earthbound:
- - - -
Additionally, they could throw in a Duster assist trophy, since he deserves some representation (conspicuously absent from Lucas's Final Smash like Jeff is for Ness's). Toss in some Mii costumes or whatever and you'd have a decent DLC pack.
! So, you are advocating for the funkier side of earthbound.
version of the Porky's theme tho, but the rest are unrepresented.
! There was already
! I'd love him tho.
! Despite what the name would lead anyone to believe, Master Porky's Theme is way different from Porky's Theme, haha. That's his boss track in Mother 3, which stands on its own.
! I only remembered it because of the main trumpets part.

Well, I don't know how to count, so either the final day is master hand day, or the -5 day is Dark Samus day. Now today 26 is trully 11 days to go. Also Falcon could get 2 days in honor of him not getting games.
All the victory themes, and it is ALL, since 64. Didn't know that Rosalina had the galaxy theme, I only won with her in the single player mode.
FE music spoilers
! Holy shit the new Id Purpose remix is so good
Also FE4 got a remix of the song that plays when
Big FE4 spoilers
! Arden kills Sigurd and his army
[hide]A great song to play at a barbecue, I've heard.[/hide]
So, I decided today is Ness day.
While he is mostly just an avatar, and while his story is not that interesting, is hella relatable, in the years where my folks were in another country, thinking about the Nostalgic status effect caused me to cry, understanding what it trully meant finally.
Lucas went through a lot, and his game is probably better, but I am a Ness. Should make room for an Earthbound marathon next year.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Dare to imagine a world where all of those what-ifs of history happened, the rummors of the nintendo history, where a choice turned the mascot from clefairy into pikachu, from Nana and Popo to Mario and Luigi, where Metroid died after two entries and revived in a weirdly controlled but very fun game after like 20 years, but Kid Icarus got a lot of milleage out of the 90s, into becoming a slump where grimdark pit cries over never learnign to read. It's not Marth and Roy in melee, but Andy and Sam the franchise who gets overexposure in "not another soldier!" groans. And where Kirby found a design that wasn't his placeholder.
The ice climbers are now the mario brothers, working in tandem and removed from one game because technical limitations and not enough chance of a new franchise
Bowser is replaced by some kind of anthropomorphic condor/pterodactyl, while the king of koopas is just in a stage as the polar bear. The bowsette phenomenom is stealed by Condorette.
Yoshi is a Seal/little yeti things, keeping the controvercy over animal cruelty
Nana and Popo get to be two separate characters, with contrasting evolutions
Peach is a sentient vegetable? Some farmer?
OpOp, Popo's evil counterpart is around, while everyone wants Apap, as playable, but she only shows up in the cricket spinoffs.
Jiggs only got in because she was close in model to kirby, if kirby is different, then she is no more.
Ironically, as there are the mario brothers, there are still two marios, but one is DK's nemesis, the evil guy who kidnaped his parents.

Thanks for the musical support. I appreciate it in these waiting days
Anytime buddy, we'll see what I can find for tomorrow.
That just makes me think of Danganronpa and now I'm instinctively wondering who's going to be killed off first.
I used Soul Calibur 6 to bridge the gap. It kinda works, as I find myself creating Ganondorf and Bayonetta in the Character customization…
Ridley would be the first victim. The game pace would have to be ajusted for 24 super video game stars.
[hide]-Ridley would be the first to go, with Isabelle being the killer, as she could handle being in this situation.
-Samus offs Ness and Luigi and would attempt to frame Dark Samus for it.
-Donkey Kong would finally exact revenge upon Mario.
-Ken and Captain Falcon sacrifice themselves so that the rest may live.
-Piranha Plant creates an elaborate suicide attempt, but in reality, he tricks Kirby into killing him, killing both in the process.
-Mario was Monokuma the whole time.
-Fox was a dick the entire time, but didn't kill anyone.
-Link was the main with Richter, Dark Samus, and (Detective) Pikachu being the brains of the group.
-King K Rool was considered to be the killer every time, to which he would argue "I DIDN'T KILL ANYONE!" He never does kill anyone, and survives.
-Jigglypuff was never real.
-Simon and Chrom were largely idiots.
-Daisy is secretly Monokuma #2, but survives and pretends to be a survivor.[/hide]
That just makes me think of Danganronpa and now I'm instinctively wondering who's going to be killed off first.
Luigi, duh. He's about to get eaten.
Nintendo plz.
Yes, Nintendo, please keep improving terrible character designs.

How is that a terrible design? Seems anime standard to me.
Hell, the edit they did looks like they took a bunch of black marker to it.

Exactly :ninja:
Hell, the edit they did looks like they took a bunch of black marker to it.
I think it's more tasteful and would look better for sure if they added SOME kind of texture, pattern, or hell even shading to the solid black coloring of the legs.
