I think i will take a pause after lewis is beaten. This it not the genre i like the most so reading in block may be better for me
In particular, the yes we can, no we cannot, yes we can, no we cannot… from this chapter was not particularly enthusiastic
The Promised Neverland
-
-
I think this series works best when the protagonists have to deal with a threat under specific constraints with little outside variables.
-
I like lewis's reaction on the last panel
-
Hulk steps into the ring.
-
This would make a fabulous video game.
Also, Lewis, we might have that love in our life if you fuckers didn't keep destroying it.
-
An ever loving Adam!
Adam!
-
Another manga dream! It was time for the great breakout of a plantation, while Emma prepared the kids, and ray looked for supplies, and a friendly demon who looked like the Beast escorted him, a Mom and a dozen of children arrived to subdue us, that mom looked like Gillian of the last few chapters but blonde and two meters tall.
We talk until I slip out the word "office" as the kids start saying that they don't know what that is, then I insult the mom (to see the reaction of the kids, and because she implied that my definition of office was worse than the kids being eaten without saying it) and I woke up.
-
I assume that Adam is a creation of the new plantation revealed in the Norman chapter, my only question is how he had escaped in the first place, much less made it to Goldy Pond. The idea of him being sent off much like other children from plantations doesn't seem to add up since we already have the low grade farms with speechless children and that place comes off as more of a research facility.

oh no.
oh no.
Eh, 'tis only a flesh wound.
-
Ouch. That's not good.
-
Blah. I can't read that link.
-
! Considering from the perspective that its unlikely one of the major characters are gonna die (especially considering they brought back Norman) I'm gonna guess that the way Lewis is going to try survive is use Emma as basically a hostage/bargaining chip and the injury is intentionally non-fatal and meant to prevent her from trying any tricks
-
I'm thinking that whatever locket/amulet Musica gave Emma before they parted ways is going to be used to save her life.

Thanks!
Louis reminds me of The Man in Black lol.
Adam…Wow. he's like a human Belgian Blue.

! I really liked how this chapter was handled
-
Boom.
! Kinda sad Lewis is gone. He's easily the best demon so far.

! I'm glad how they handled his defeat though, it didnt seem like they nerfed him so the protagonists would beat him. They hyped him up considerably and then slowly emma and the others chipped away at his regeneration, and while he could still catch bullets, he was blinded at the perfect time by emma's flare gun. Then he even had an end where he died smiling impressed with the others for such a fight. Sad to see him go but he had a hell of a finale for a villain.
-
! I wonder in what way they will now return to the other kids.
Will they still avoid the demons, or will they slaughter each and every demon they encounter.
Most will be fodder compared to Lewis. -
! Disappointed that emma lived with no reasoning given.
-
<luffy vs="" hattori="" face="">THE MONKEY!!!!!</luffy>
-
I didn’t really like this battle ending. It seems Lewis was beaten by the kids plot armor rather than anything else. Also I’m not sure to understand what was special with Emma gun. That just confirm my decision to put this serie on hold
-
It's a flare gun and it has a compass on it as well. It was introduced here
https://readms.net/r/neverland/059/4626/14?mobile=1
! Also I cant agree it was plot armor. He was set up as powerful, lived up to that expectation and was defeated by the kids discovering his regeneration limit, and using their wits to get around it while having several machine guns and a super powered man in their corner. Honestly I dont think most shonen, even One Piece has has many opponents go down like this were they appear at the same strength throughout the whole fight, especially if they are hyped as monsters.
-
I don't think it had more serious plot armour than the natural ones which come with being a Sounen manga protagonists.
-
In the end the biggest kill count was Nous(with Nouma) wasn't it?
–-
-
RIP Lewis, you magnificent bastard! He got what he wished for and went out satisfied & thrilled from the battle. I can live with Emma pulling herself together with willpower, even if it usually seems like an asspull, regardless of how you portray it. Now onto to further explore the mystery of child Hulk, get sniper guy's real name and further backstory, and then delve deepter into demon society (hopefully).
-
Let me reiterate, THE MONKEY, it escaped!
-
-
the ending was a bit like " why didn't they do that before?",but all in all it was decent
but still, you would thing that if they had another flashbang they would have used it before
-
Did they know that this one was a flashbang as well?
But then again, if it was just luck that they blinded him again, it's kinda worse.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Just checked chapter 59, the armory, and they didn't reveal what the gun was, but they seemed to know.

they definitely knew..that's why is a bit perplexing that they didn't use it way before since it wasn't the first time they surrounded him with bullets.
-
Until just now he was already blinded by the first one. You literally can't blind him again until he recovered his sight.

he has been able to barely see for a while though
-
They also didn't had a clear shoot again until now. Lewis himself said it, they needed both the bullet hail and the flashbang at the same time, after he fully got his sight back for it to work.
-
Well, what I find ridiculous about Lewis's insane speed is this: If his eyes, nerves, muscles, and limbs are fast enough to see and catch a barrage of bullets mid-flight, then why couldn't he just reflexively move his body when he feels the impact of a bullet? Like, if his nerves can send signals to and from his brain a thousand times faster than a bullet moves, then he should just be able to essentially shiver bullets off of himself without even seeing them.
-
I think you added abilities to him he didn't have…Or rather. You enhanced him beyond what he was actually capable of.
-
Also, this is a manga, we play with the rules presented to us, if he's shown capable of catching bullets in the air, but incapable of doing that thing that you said, then that's it, he can't.
Also reflexivelly dodging a hail of bullets would put you in the path of more bullets.
-
Not dodging, but stopping. I mean, your flesh would have to be incredibly strong to accelerate fast enough to actually catch a single bullet without harm, even more so for a barrage of a hundred bullets. And your nerves would have to be superhumanly fast and accurate in order to see them mid-flight so that they could be caught in the first place.
Stands to reason that you should be able to basically shrug off each one individually just by absorbing and deflecting the impact, even without seeing.
But, yeah, whatever. It's just a comic.

The whole concept is beyond the realm of reality as we know it, so there is no real logical answer, but it might also be that stopping the bullets with his hands is required due to the natural dexterity of fingers that no other part of his body has.
-
It's a good point! Thanks for humoring me.
-
Also he's using his child-impaling demon nails, they are bound to be sturdier than his non-bulletproof skin.
Compare it as well to catching a ball vs getting hit by it, same speed, but different pains.

Children aren't nearly sturdy enough that that his nails need to be hyped. They could be tree strong for all we know lol.
-
But Emma is a female shonen manga protagonist, do you know how resilent these are in average? Arale is invulnerable to all except decapitation, and that only confuses her, Medaka only got blodied by a god slayer and a weak dude who's power was to make people as weak as him, and<third example="" not="" found=""></third>
-
Case in point she got impaled by a professional murdering demon and it didn't even incapacitate her.
-
We did see his hand take damage from bullets though. What I'm suspecting is he used the quickness of his hands to move them around to places where he could grab the bullets from angles they wouldn't pierce him from. It's like how an steel tipped arrow could easily go through your hand but if you had the insane speed and reflexes to grab the arrow from the middle of it and pull it away then the hand you used is unharmed and the arrow is easier to move since it has almost zero lateral motion from point blank range. That's what im pretty sure lewis is doing, he's not stopping the bullets but grabbing them from different directions.
-
*was doing, unles THE MONKEY eats some Lewis brains, he's done. And I somehow doubt that Lewis would be a sore loser about this, probably would take the chance to do exposition.
None of the other demons demostrated this level of skill, I wonder how much a younger demon can heal, but if they would exaust it faster as they would have been hit a lot more with the bullet storm.
-

That's true, too. But, given that most bullets aren't actually sharp like an arrow, I think that my point still stands. Aside from the hand dexterity thing, though.

Thought this was a pretty fitting ending for the dude. Now I just hope we quickly proceed to finally learning that man's name…
