Captured Tempered Jho in 15 minutes with dual blades. Many traps, flash pods, and buffs were used. It seemed like I was doing really good constant damage too (and I barely got hit unless I had on Rocksteady Mantle), he just eats a LOT of hits and his weak spot is hard to reach while he's enraged. Well, that's the case for Dual Blades at least. I tried with safer weapons that I'm not as good with and it took way longer. I even used a Gunlance for the first time in this game just for kicks and it took me 30 minutes to capture I had no idea what I was doing but didn't cart! Lances are good with defense I suppose.

I actually just got a Tempered Kirin quest that was 15 minutes long and had 5 attempts. I think my best bet is to use a Fire Greatsword and I ran out of time 3/5 times. The other 2 runs I finished in about 12:30 and 14:00. Both times I carted at the start for a Fortify buff, otherwise I probably would have run out of time again. The ranged weapons are good against Kirin so I should probably get on learning those if I happen to get another quest with a 15 minute time limit.

Lmao. Kirin is messed up. Someone said they crawled into the camp site and still by other KO'ed by lightning.

I had a good group of friends. Glaive, Switch Axe, 2 Bows. One attempt and two deaths. But man. I'm hoping that the one friend who's lagging us won't get to that point for at least a month. I'd rather fight Deviljho lol.

Makes me wonder which monsters are going to be added next. The fact these are updates and not DLC makes it impossible for anyone to ruin the surprise, as there's no locked content to be found.

Also, people are mad at Tempered Kirin, but for me, Black Diablos can go burn in hell for all I care.

Around half are maxed out. The only ones I have left to upgrade require elder dragon gems and stuff.

I just made a Deviljho sword and shield. Cause there's nothing else I want off him aside from maybe the palico armor. It's randomly cute.

A better video should've been getting slammed to the ground, healed by a teammate to full health, and then still 1-shot by a bite.

Yesterday I went on a kill spree in the Ancient Forest. In about half a hour I downed five large monsters using the glaive with a blast-imbued kinsect, easily the best non-elemental damaging effect. It's so satisfying wacking monsters using a graceful style of combat, while countless explosions trigger simultaneously.

Apparently the Ancient Forest was much, much bigger, or had radically different pieces that got cut.
Wonder if they'll consider making a flooded Ancient Forest like the volcanic Hollow from 4 Ultimate.

A shame that it didn't work as intended. Lagiacrus being a sea monster and all, had limited movility on the surface, so in the end it was discarded, and what was still viable was instead used for the Jyuratodus.

I don't think we're going to see any Leviathan monsters except for Agnaktor and perhaps Mizutsune.

Got every other monster in about an hour an a half on Effluvial Opera both Big and Small.

No. Freaking. Mini Bazel.

What's up? I spent no less than 5 hours just on him in a quest that gives out crowns like nobody's business.
And that's just getting him to spawn and sniping him, not going through battle.

Between him and Great Jagras LARGE (whom hopefully I'll be able to nab during Spring Blossom Fest?) it's an absolute nightmare.

All the crown quests are up until the 19th! I'm probably going to end up doing them since they're all so conveniently available.

A small part of me does want the platinum trophy, but it's entirely RNG based. I already gave up trying to find the downy crake. That achievement will have to wait until after I (likely never) get all the crowns. And 50 arena quests? No thanks, that's not happening any time soon.

Both Crake and Arena are a lot better than they might sound.

Arena just buddy up and you'll get it done no time flat.

Crake is…meh. It took me like an hour once I knew what I should've been looking for.

All crowns are up? Brilliant! Giant Jagras has been the worst. It's totally personal for me with that jerk. Wasted an entire weekend on him.

I did the 'A Flash in the Pan' event quest, and I spent more time getting stunned than pounding these damn raptors to the ground. Thankfully, my cat boosted my stun resistance and it was a walk in the park from there on. I even felled two of the Tzitzi at the same time.

I've exclusively played World solo and had a blast.
If you ever find your weapon stale, you have 13 other weapons/playstyles to change it up.
I'd understand that remark more in one of the earlier games where the weapons aren't as polished, and punishment by the monsters is far more pronounced.

Currently playing Monster Hunter Stories, and loving it for its charming visuals and the fun of toting mons around, riding and fighting with them.

It's at its best in multiplayer, I think, but it's intentionally designed to be completely doable and fun in single-player. Go for it.

You can easily get over 100 hours of solo play and have a great time. I didn't go online until well after the main story.

Solo isn't even bad once you do the hardest quests with augmented gear. In fact, it's probably optimal in some cases like investigations with a single cart condition or requiring a capture. Some monsters are plain annoying or even more dangerous with 4 targets (Diablos, Nergigante, Jho)

I'm 10 crowns away from clearing the hunting log. Maybe I've played too much :ninja:

Hunted Vaal Hazak yesterday. Man, what an intense battle that was. Despite the long wind up of the miasma breath attack, it's deceptively fast and agile, plus it forced me to back off many times because the efluvia that is released from his body kept cutting my health down to half. Also, I absolutely love his design, easily one of the most unique monsters in the game IMO. Speaking of that, his lair is one of the most visually stunning areas in the vale.

I'm surprised at the lack of activity in the thread since the last weekend. Guys? A brand new map and monster have been added to the game, what are you waiting for to play it. It's not like we're running out of content, because… we never do.

I and 3 others fought against Goldilocks a few times before bed time. It was a pretty funny encounter. But man she can book it for being so huge. We got almost all the unbreakable parts discovered. One is still marked as ???. So we aren't sure what we are missing. Face maybe? We did crack a horn and haven't fully broken it yet. The armor set looks cool. Well the alpha chest piece anyways. The palico set has awesome stats. I haven't unlocked the item to see the weapons yet.

This game has way more stuff going on than I thought it would. And next week is the DMC stuff!

The devs also stated in a recent interview that they are working on a new map. I would like it to be a snowy environment, with dark ice caverns and peaks where the higher you climb up, the colder the air gets.

It would be nice to have an ice environment. So far the ice type monster is Legiana. I've never really tried to build a full ice resist set since she's not that difficult and is the only one with ice attacks.

Still haven't completely figured out Siege Mode. Do you basically have to get in a session with a bunch of other players to get the good stuff, or can my usual 4-man Squad Session fight it a bunch of times in a row and get the goods?

Your 4-man squad is plenty enough; you can even solo the mission if you are patient and level up the investigation before tackling the monster. Getting in a 16-squad session only earns you more rewards, but that's it, damage dealt by the other squads doesn't stack to yours. Also, the relics you get are always randomnized.

Gotten her to the third area and someone joined my game and completed it after I left…

Edit: Managed to beat it solo.
Very fun fight once you get to stages 3 and 4.
Probably not worth to grind solo since it takes a lot of runs and she runs away a bunch, but I did get a rarity 8 lance with a whopping high (hidden) water element for my troubles.

I got a lot of nice high rank weapons I normally wouldn't have thought to make from the Seige. Like bagpipes or gun lances.

The Dante Armor and weapon look pretty sweet. Decent stats, but not necessarily stuff I'd typically try to run with. But it is survivable and stylish.

Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate has been announced for a August release!

I won't be able to get this until I get back from my deployment, but I could at least get started with Generations…
If I get finished with my all melee weapons run of MH4U, that is. Really enjoying the other playstyles as I get better with them, and the hunter arts look fun too.

I forgot there was another Generations game in Japan. It's finally coming over! The thing it has going for it is that there are wayyyyyyyy more monsters. I might've considered buying it if I had a Switch, but World just improved so many things. It's hard to imagine going back to how things were. It comes down to quantity vs quality.

I would be really interested to buy this on the Switch but i've never played a MH before. Would this be a good starting point? I really need a good mobile grinding-game.
I haven't tried the new Monster Hunter either but i don't really play RPGs on my PS4.

Definitely. It's the most polished entry in the franchise before World, with a more fluid combat mechanic and better AIs. It also has the largest variety in species.

Was starting to consider GoW my GotY, but last night, decided to finally go after the Tempered Kirin with my brothers and dad (our usual squad), and even as we got our ass kicked on numerous occasions we couldn't stop cracking up.

Yeah, best game in a long time for me.

My Family Squad keeps reassembling for these new monsters. Kulve was actually a highlight for the whole game.

Hoping they bake some new moves into the new Arch Tempered Elder Dragons, to at least differentiate it from regular Tempered Elders.
Glad they put a spin on the new weapons, although the reuse of base pieces feels like a trend they won't break with Oroshi Kirin.
Would be exciting/terrifying to see the Raths get a combo move like Teo and Luna have.

I haven't played any of the games before the 3rd gen, so this is the first game I get to fight Lunastra. Looking forward to it! It's about time I start playing again since I only 2 crowns left to get. I actually still need a Teostra crown. Maybe we'll get an event where both lions are giant and I can get my not-worth-it-at-all platinum trophy

That Special Assignment actually does give a guaranteed large crown Teostra. I was just spitballing earlier. I only have Legiana left and that'll hopefully be easy to get in the Coral event quest that I somewhat ignored the last couple times.

It should be noted that this batch of new monsters that are being added was already finished before the game's release. A leaked list shows Kulve Taroth was the last they had finished programming in that pre-release list, as the insider listed her with the label 'Treasure Dragon'.

Which new monsters will follow after, no one knows. And because I have no clue, I'm really thrilled.

It says Tsujimoto (MH Producer) has entered the 'Kanpa' (short for Conference) to deliver a large 'Apple' (DLC, Update).

It's slated at a time between today and tomorrow.
