Man this feels empty. Interchangeable badass with incredible skills spouts nonsense and gets Shin riled up.
Just switch to Ousen.

The Zhao generals have been quite wordy, first was Banana-ji, now Gyou-Un, I am just glad Shin told him to go home if he is going to be dreaming like that.
-
They could talk if there is some kind of build-up of it that stimulates an investment by the audience. Doing it like this takes any kind of merit or depth out of it.
And it´s kind of silly how easily Shin gets riled up because of some stupid statement of a stranger.Man it´s such a pity. The warring states as the focus has so much potential as a world but the author does the same mistake over and over again.
-
I agree with your first sentence, the wordy talks seem merely but rambles of old men. With Banana-ji, it was all for Ou Hon to declare his loyalty to the king. This time around, it is for Shin's…anger? Even though both speeches informed us a bit more of the environment and goals of the two Zhao generals, as you said, it feels like it could have more meaning to it.
About Shin getting riled up, I would disagree. Mainly because this is barely a stranger. At least that is what I took from Shin. Shin knows his adversary's name, also about whom he served. When they first met, it seemed like Shin wanted to have some sort of talk, but Gyou-un interrupted him. I think Shin understands how important his opponent is. The taunting cannot be empty, because Gyou-un has actually been part of the "Great Generals era" and we can see that he holds those times dear. I got invested in that scene where he tells Shin that he only had to stretch his arms to receive it. After everything that has happened, not only when he received the glaive, but everything he has went through until this campaign to finally wield it. I think it would be infuriating too.

We are talking about two different things though. I am not doubting Gyou-un´s standing as a great general of the past, thus he represents a certain significance and relevance, i am doubting Shin getting riled up by insults about personal things. Gyou-un´s words should have no relevance since it´s a personal thing between Ouki and him and he knows why he inherited it, or at least he should know, so ultimately it´s Shin´s immaturity that´s the problem.
-
Oh I understand better, but isn't that a bit "cold" from someone as explosive as Shin? We know, and Shin should know better than to take Gyou-un's words to heart, but at the same time, I have had overreactions to people's comments on things happening in my life, when they know no better. Even if nowadays I have learned to take a step back breath and ignore. Sometimes, it still affects you. It is hard to go against your instinctual responses.
What I find that connects his taunting with Shin's feelings is Gyou-un's relevance. He has probably experienced the ~weight~ that Ou Ki had as a general and wielding his glaive. So his words are half truths, half ignorance. Truth in terms of Shin not fulfilling the position as a holder of such weapon as of yet. Lies, because he oversimplifies Shin's struggles. That's why I find perfect that Shin thinks: Don't talk as if you know anything. His outburst is more internal than him shouting and responding back. Someone came and questioned his position, Shin retaliated by showing why he is where he is.
-
Kyokai is about to wreck shit again with that God Breath thing.
-
pretty exited for whats gonna come up.
-
Talk and Talk, and then claim it does not matter either way
Just get this fight over already and show Kyoukai for 10 chapters
-
I feel like reading chapters with Ouki again. All these generals that pop out pale in comparison.
-
I have a bit of mixed feelings.
Shin's fight did all the talking last chapter, the rehash of smack talk was unnecessary. Just have them go at it. At least he still tells him to go to sleep.
This was Kyou Kai's chapter, will Ten get to do something too?
General En-san understands that his men have not reached his level, he gives them a pass and moves back slightly!.
Garou needs to shut up and just start following orders. First, doubting the general with the task at the river, now questioning Kyou Kai.
Bi Hei, knows that he cannot play dead with Kyou Kai around. She knows to give a little compliment here and there to get them all fired up. Too funny.Eye-patch turtle war cry should have been this: "Listen scum! Are you still going to be cowards even when lieutenant Kyou Kai has left her pony to fight with us?! It's showtime!" After this war the recruits will be different men.
-
they will be full shinheads
-
Seems like the day is ending in stalemate. Storywise it is flowing well…..
-
Kyoukai <3
P.S. I wish Kingdom had a decent anime and we could witness this beauty fully animated.
-
Told ya, one chapter of Kyoukai > Shin and his idiocy
-
So Gyouun was holding back?
His reaction after seeing Kyoukai killing those soldiers was priceless.
Kyoukai was awesome as expected and Suugen gets honorable mention.
-
Gyoun is yet to know that HSU have two archers of fabled Ten Bows caliber and one of them can kill effortlessly.I would love to see his reaction when he finds that out.
-
That panel where Kyoukai is standing on top of the dead soldiers is priceless. I really loved it.
-
Sleep talker made 4 miscalculations. That's all I got to say about this chapter.
-
Don't worry, underestimating En will lead to his true downfall.
-
Did you see they needed 6 spears just to put down his horse? They didn't even manage to push him back.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Lately, I also make the mistake of saying Tou instead of En.
-
meh with this chapter
-
What's the matter Kaze? You don't like Kyokai being Kyokai?
-
Maybe he wanted more kyoukai being kyoukai

I won't be surprised if that messenger is a Qin spy.
-
and that's as close as we'll ever get to a shin/kyoukai ship.
What's the matter Kaze? You don't like Kyokai being Kyokai?
@Purple:

Tired of shin being shin. " OMG strong people whoOOAaooa"
-
Liked this chaoter a lot, agree with what others said about this new being a little too convenient for zhao
-
Kyokai chapters are the best chapters.
-
Gyou has 20 days.
Ousen has 10-15 days. Might he have left some troops behind to take the food from the cities or he took all of it already?Does that leave Yo Tan Wa with only around 5-7 days?
How many men did Shin lose, 2500~? Is the young guy(Kou) sick because of food being scarce?
-
It could literally be a ploy by Ousen, giving Riboku false information
-
I also took that into consideration, but if we take it as true, that means we might see Ou Sen do further tactics worthy of all the praise.
-
I mean it would be pretty simply yet brilliant at the same time. Riboku himself is now considering a drawn out battle to use the bigger food reserves and thus prevent Gyou, tricking him would be a sure way to win really.
-
Indeed letting Riboku play right into his trap. Also lets think about Kanki bandits and Yontawa mountain tribes for a bit. Do thry really look to you by shounen standards types that run out of food or types that are extremely resourceful in those situations?
-
Maybe Riboku just acted like he bought the news to fool the "messenger". Now that would be a riot.
-
Riboku and Ou Sen shoukd just play some tennis. :3
Not going to lie, I see it as the most likely option as well. There is precedence with Kanki killing Renpa's commander way back. The news seem inaccurate, are they even taking into consideration the mental state of the citizens, especially the ones that walked the farthest.
We also saw that they had gone through food storage really fast even before the siege.
-
@K.:

This was also before the city was fully populated, too. They already opened up six granaries by the time Qin showed up. So fat chance they actually outlast the Qinese for a full twenty days.
Now how they'll supply their army after capturing Gyou is another story. Unless they just go and reestablish their supply line through retsubi immediately after.
-
Ousen's secret request to Shouheikun may come to play now.
-

Exactly, even if the number is correct, it is probably not taking into consideration how the people are already reacting to having less food.
Someone noted that if Ou Sen did not take any or all of the supplies from the 9 cities he attacked, he could have left a line of supply between those cities and him.
As auem mentioned, Ou Sen's request might play a role sooner rather than later.

Lots of wastage of pages. -
Id call it more of setting a tone than wasting pages.
-
This chapter is all Heki's fault.
-
He'll make up for it somehow ^_^
I liked the scene with all of them sleeping in the throne room.
-
This on my mind:
5 days time skip. Just after that first day, just imagining Shin commanding the troops must have been hard.
Younger archer bro, will he get his first kill this campaign? With how events are unfolding, would Riboku try to arraow Shin from behind?
Cannot wait to see Heki shine.
-
Heki seems to be set for a big achievement.
P.S: best outcome should be his death though.:ninja:
-
Heki-bro!
Well, live or die, he'll definitely (help) kill one of the brothers. Somehow?
Hope he lives, though. He definitely learned a couple of valuable lessons in this campaign, and might learn a couple more until it ends. Seems to me like he's being set up to become Shoubunkun jr.
-
Heki has been useless, he should probably just get his glory in death.
-
Every story has to have a Heki
That "that was close" cracked me up
