Maybe they changed translators.I remember the first saying that he took his time because he found it boring.

How can you find this boring?

How can you find this boring?
Probably if you're a battle manga fan or something.
This series is a breathing of fresh air.
-
Let's be fair, this manga isn't for everyone. I like the artwork and I'm invested in the story now, but at the beginning was thinking of dropping it.
The first part of the manga can easily be called "slow", it also relied in cliffhangers too much. Now that they are out of the farm it feels pretty aimless.
As a final note, this last chapter almost destroyed the grey area it built for the demons. We had two "good" demons, but now one of them isn't (we are not sure of the other)

seriously ! This battle manga racism is really annoying
personnaly i stopped reading it when it becomes to much a tactical manga for me since i dislike the "he knows that i know that he knows" scenarios or twist of current chapter. But now it os less like that and i enjoy it again.
But i honestly prefer much more Kimetsu -

As a final note, this last chapter almost destroyed the grey area it built for the demons. We had two "good" demons, but now one of them isn't (we are not sure of the other)The thing is without him they don't get saved because she just wanted to sell them back to the farm so they could live the good life for a while.
Neither of them were "good" or "bad", they're just people with their own motivations.Just like the mama Isabella was.
-
Yeah, they had their reasons, but they are bad people anyway. We are talking about killing and eating children, I thought everyone agreed thats evil. The gray area came from us theorizing they didn't kill people because they valued their lives, but it's been proven false. They helped the children with ulterior motives in doing so
-
Having their own intrinsic motivations makes more sense than them just being simply nice.
The bad feelings the kid had towards them weren´t false, but even when those two aren´t what they seem, they still were helpful for the kids.
Also the humans and the demons were so able to get in contact with each other because of those grey area motivations, which made the kids grasp better the whole situation and Musicaa was also heavily influenced by them, which will later be important. -
good entrance ..but does that guy wait in an empty shelter every day for the entire year just in the distant chance that some human escape and also manage to decrypt the whole treasure hunt?@sausi00:

well,it's really a matter of perspective
we eat other animals ,and most of use did so without feeling the least guilty about it..meanwhile for some of us it's an abomination.
we humans usually have 2 barriers that divide what is food and what is not, and it's usually "if something is a intelligent being" (like another human or if an animal coould actually talk) and if "we consider them as pet"…cat, dogs, for someone rabbits or horses..we are used to see them as companions so the idea to eat them is disgusting or we just feel sorry for them
for demons , humans are cattle...we are intelligent but that doesn't seem to be a barrier for them since they still consider us inferior in some other way than mental capacity..and they generally don't see us as pet ,although musica actually came to care about the kids,in a way also getting attached like a human would get attached to a dog.
the point is,is the act of killing for food inherently evil? if yes,we all are either directly or indirectly monsters..if not, then demons that kill humans for food are not inherently evil either...sure we say we wouldn't kill another intelligent being..but we can't really say for sure because the only being at the level of intelligence of an human in this world is the human itself, and cannibalism is considered bad for another set of reasons, but those reasons don't even apply to the entire human race, since cannibals have existed and still exist to this day.
-
They are helping you now to screw you or your descendants in the future. I'm sure there is a thinly veiled metaphor about banks and insurance around.
But yeah, you saved me and you are planing on collecting secret fees latter, I need your help now but that price is too high and I'll have to find a way to escape of that as well, but if I don't take your help now , I'm dead for sure.
-
The main problem is that right now every demon we have met is bad. Musica is the only one that seems to care, but hasn't revealed to them all the information she could, so not trustworthy overall.
Regarding the morality issue, eating is not important. Is the act of killing another intelligent being that's wrong. We are too in the dark yet to really know anything about this world, but the demons don't seem so superior to the human race if they have to remain in their half of the planet. Thus any kind of superiority they feel against humans is probably completely false. Until proven otherwise I have to infer both humans and demons are equal (per their agreement) and so the demons are actually murdering people to feed themselves (It's specially bad since they are children raised being ignorant about the world, thus the demons are in a special kind or power relationship they are abusing)
PD: I enjoy this kind of arguments, proves any kind of medium can spark interesting discussions. We should try to do it with other mangas, even if we have to play devil's advocate to get the ball rolling
-
The same argument could be made that humans aren't as superior to cows and chickens as we believe.
-
Considering I'm the only one here who reads Seraph, this cattle talk is so old to me.
-
Could you please elaborate? I'm hardly seeing it. If the same argument can be made I would love to read it
-
The same argument could be made that humans aren't as superior to cows and chickens as we believe.
Cows and Chicken have been bred by humans in a way that they would go extinct in a few years if they ever lived in the wild.A Dodo extinction situation would happen.
Not really the case with the humans in this series that had the chance to live the illusion of a normal life. They have shown that they can learn, adapt and survive even if they came from a very sheltered environment.
-
Our kids, the "free range kids" yeah, but the meatbags? The poor kids on the factory farms.
Not only taking in consideration that the free range kids have been raised precisely for that. I guess that if you trained cows and chickens to be independent they would fare way better than regular cattle.
-
Oh god, this is going where I think it is going, huh!?

You can't train a chicken to not be a fat flightless bird.It was bred to be this way and no matter what training you gave it, it would still be highly vulnerable.Just read on wild birds that went extinct like the Dodo, Rodrigues Solitaire and Réunion Ibis to have a good idea what would happen to chicken in the wild.
-
And this tanget means what? that just like that, the demons eating the factory farm children?

i don't know,i think that morally (especially morally) the reason why you kill is extremely important, that's why we revere the "troops" but we despise serial killers, despite the act of killing being part of the description for both.
The demons seem superior to humans physically, at least if the average human in this universe is strong like a normal human in real life, but the story does say that the human managed to fight back and become demon hunters..and since we know that the demons are intelligent too, the usual advantage that human used to dominate every single other species on earth doesn't apply in this case.but they do refer humans as cattle or livestock,so they do indeed keep us strictly in the category of "food", which does imply some kind of feeling of superiority.
-
That guy doesn’t seem to have a tatoo on his neck
-
I'm thinking that this guy isn't actually Minerva, but rather a guy who works for or with Minerva.

It's very possible that humans were able to fight back due to numbers. Possible that demons don't reproduce as easily as humans.

Wouldnt go that far, Ray was fast enough to run away from them some time even though there were several demons. And Ray is not nearly a grown up men, so i can think of humans that can fight them one on one…

in one of the images when they talk about the war between humans and demons you can see a demon hold an adult male in his hand..that's not something a human can do, so there's definitely a difference in strenght..at least with a type of demon..since they seem very diversified
-
If for every armed demon there were 100 human soldiers with crossbows, humans would easily even the scale in context of a war.
Not to mention from the tangible holographic technology seen in the pen, humans now are at least 21st century tech - If a war breaks out at the current era in the story, we would completely wipe the floor of these demons if they're still fighting with melee weapons. Regardless of their super-strength.
It's very possible that humans were able to fight back due to numbers. Possible that demons don't reproduce as easily as humans.
Honestly, between the scarcity of demons we've seen and the fact they choose humans as cattle, I think it's very likely that demons aren't very numerous.
We don't know their entire diet, sure, but humans are absolutely horrible for cattle purpose. It takes a whole decade to raise a human for food, and we have very little meat on us by then.
Compare that to a beef cow, which lives 2 years at most before slaughter and provide ample amount of food.Even with "hundreds" of human cattle farms out there, it wouldn't be a very sustainable food source for even remotely large population.
Sure, the demons likely eat other food too, but there is significant evidence here that suggest they are nowhere near as populated as humans. -

Yeah dont think theyl win arm wrestling, but speed wise it doesnt seem…

something doesn't add up to that story
-
He has a gun!
http://readms.net/r/neverland/053/4539/1 -
Welp, we knew he wasn't Minerva.
-
These kids cant catch a consistent break, how they gonna get out of this one
-
We also knew that these kids weren't going to have it easy for much longer. This isn't a series that does that.
-
I find difficult to believe that he had food at his disposal for 13 years straight without it going bad..even canned food does go bad after that much time…only think i can think of is if his diet is exclusively made of rice with honey, vinegar and booze..maybe there are a couple other aliments that don't go bad,but are hardly part of a sufficient and balanced diet.
also, 13 years alone in a facility would make anyone go insane, no matter how much comfort you believe you have, you will prefer to go out and die.
problem is,if this is a "test" ,i fail to see what he is testing them for.
EDIT: also,he knows way too much about them just from that tattoo

The food thing is a bit weird yeah, but there are types of food that can last that long with the right techniques of preservation, it's not impossible.
He knows about them probably because the demons warned the surrounding area that 15 kids escaped Grace Field, they even promised a reward, we don't know how they spread the news but if they have technology similar to the radio maybe he just intercepted the news from that bunker.
Maybe it's just an act, but i'd prefer if he was really that coward, it would be far more interesting as a character.
-
It seems the houses have different kind of tatoos, so the digits on the neck identifies Grace field. How he knew that i’m not sure.
After i doubt he was completely alone during all that time. That doesn’t sound really realistic indeed -

He was eating nothing but Twinkies the whole time.
Insanity is interesting, but it would also be interesting if this WAS a test.

A lot of canned food are edible after decades. Corn can easily last half a century.
Are they recommended? No, not really. It likely will taste pretty awful.
Are they nutritious enough for sustenance? Yes. -
I imagine their is going to be a slight of hand to swap pens around. The kids will be forced to leave, but will have taken his pen with new information on what their next plan is.
-
I think he is just testing them.

ratman was there

Pedro? You are here as well?

This story keeps minding ways to grip me
-
Well, it kind of was the obvious thing to do if you were that situation.
-
So it seems all of this guys "friends" "siblings" have died. He sure is a nice guy, looks just like he has psychological problems and has taken the personalitys of all of them. And the one that has threaten Emma just was the most protectiv one of his "family", kinda like ray burning himself or sacrificing…
-
Im not that much into the humor of the Manga at this point, more like in the hard things… and the last chapters feel kinda "long" and "boring". And now we again get another cliffhanger with this weird guy even though we know since the last one that he not really wants to hurt them? So Emma and Ray found looking after him not that importanr...

Reading week by week always makes it feel worse than it is.
Having chapters to breath and take a moment to reflect on the things happened are important when you consider the whole narration.
It gives us readers an opportunity to bond stronger with the characters and to understand what it means to them to have found such a place.
The psychological aspect of the whole story is in this manga very important, so those "long and boring" sections will pay out further down the road, be assure of that :)
