If smoker and ace fight again in the future and Oda actually wants fire to be superiour over smoke the anime has produced a major plot hole.It would make perfect sense though since smoke is flammable.

Though I don't get how you can say "based on that scene", as I pointed out. The manga only had Ace completely eradicating Smoker's attack , then saying that line, and the next we see of them, Ace is nonchalantly talking to Luffy on the boat, and we see later that Smoker and the rest of the marines didn't chase him because of Ace's fire.
I'd rather not pass it off as a bad translation so easily without enough proof, granted I don't know Japanese, but it'd be foolhardedly to go by that alone, as you can use that line (translated from manga without the filler) to say the other is a mistranslation too with no valid evidance going against it .

Anyway it's sad to see the passing of such a fine sword without so much as a kickass fight to back it up. we merely see it disintigrate and then it's gone.
i agree with the others when they say it's about time for zoro to get new swords. i have a gut feeling that he may soon be getting a sword made of sea stone. firstly, it is said to be made of the hardest element known to one piece. second, it is obvious that there is a method to forge it, although i do not know how. third, they would be encountering more and more devil fruit users and having one will be a great asset to zoro.
A seastone sword wouldn't suit Zoro. It wouldn't be his own strength that allowed him to defeat a DF opponent, it'd be his sword canceling out his opponent's and making them weak enough for him to kill.
If he can't kill them without seastone, he doesn't need to be fighting them imo, and that's coming from a big Zoro fan. Seastone is fine for the bad guys to have, but it'd be cheap as hell for a main cast character to have a seastone weapon.
Funkfreed is a cool conept as a sword, but not long term. I would love it if Zoro got ahold of Funkfreed on the bridge of hesitation and used him temporarily, but I'd rather get some character development and bring Tagishi back into the story while he gets himself a better new sword.

I doubt Smoker's a coward. Maybe he knew that Luffy would beat Croc? It's possible after what Smoker saw at Lougetown.
Also, maybe Smoker and Croc's powers would cancel each other out again. How could sand and smoke hurt each other.
As for Smokers strength, he's still freakin' undefeated and a big threat to the Strawhats. He weak compared to who? Aokiji? Maybe, unless their powers cancel each other out again. Sure, maybe ice could freeze smoke (could it? I'm lacking the science here) but then again, fire should burn smoke. But then again the two could be on equal levels of strength. Don't forget that in the manga Smoker knocked down Sanji right before fighting Luffy.

Baroque Works is a criminal organization. Marines attacking them is A-OK.
Crocodile is a hero to Alabasta. Only the Strawhats, Smoker, and Robin knew that he was Sir Crocodile. Without proof, Crocodile would just deny Smoker's accusation and the people would condemn him.

I don't know why Smoker left Tashigi to go after either Baroque works or the Shs on her own. Maybe he was trying to let her learn something, it seems that he was pretty confident she wouldn't die despite Crocdile being there.

By my theory, all Logias possess the ability to Create, Control, and Become their element. Beyond that, any additional abilities or the degrees of CCB are determined by Oda.

exactly, he's there to make the story interesting…kinda like detective zenigata chasing after Lupin the third. so in a way it adds to the excitement and comic effect. BUT... we shouldn't say that smoker is nothing more than that... he can be a threat to the straw hats and like all characters he has a capacity to grow and develop...maybe in the near future we'll see him finally getting the promotion he deserves and we'll observe a showdown between him and luffy.... anything's possible in one piece

The way I thought it went was: Wadoichimonji - oowazamono; Sandai Kitetsu - ryouwazamono; Yubashiri - wazamono.
Ryouwazamono isn't the "lowest class" of katana at all by any means. It's just the lowest of the great katana, which are counted. It's like having an A- compared to an A or A+.
I believe that Yubashiri was actually in a class lower, as a wazamono, but was still a good sword. I really liked this sword, since the katana store owner bestowed the sword upon Zoro, hoping Zoro would take it to great heights as a swordsman.As for the new katana, it would be awesome for Zoro to get a saijou-oowazamono, but it could seem a little weird with it being of "higher" rank than his main katana, the Wado. It'll be fun to see if he runs into Tashigi again though, when he's looking for the new sword.

Meaning he was upholding the king's honor by not using the dance powder. Plus he mentions something about knowing what constitutes a crime.

-know where the mecanism controlling the Gate of Justice is located
-access it while he's standing on an isolated bridge in the middle of the sea
Whatever he does, I hope it's more of a stealth mission than anything overly physical, him saving the day by kicking the bad guys asses all by himself wouldn't feel right at all.
Notice that Spandam's missing, too. Maybe Sanji went to take a hostage. Since Spandam is apparently valuable to the WG, they could use him as a bargaining tool to get away. Yeah, it's underhanded, but they're pirates. Or Sanji could beat up Spandam's face even more until he shows Sanji how to shut the gate.

That may be so, but he is Director of CP9. Even if the Marines don't find him valuable, the World Government does because he knows classified info. If Sanji took him hostage and beat the information out of him (not hard to do) it would create problems for the WG. This isn't Hellsing, there's not a chip in his brain they can blow him up with.
You underestimate him because he's weak. But he has to have some degree of power if he can obtain 2 devil fruits.

Highly unlikely. He blatantly added that he knows the diference between what´s right and wrong after saying he wouldn´t use the rainmaker ship. Smoker´s sense of justice leans exactly against this kind of atitude in my opinion (and ODA likes to work on natural miracles).
Now, on this discussion about him being stronger or not than Croc, I thought that ODA did not give him a oportunity to go against Croc exactly because he thought "if they fight, one has to lose, and I do not want or can let that happen now". Meaning that they were either equal level or Smoker was stronger than Croc (otherwise he could just overwhelm us by displaying a Smoker loss).
Also, those comparing Aokiji to Ace, this should stop. Aokiji is likely only second to White Beard and no one else. I believe there are stronger individuals than Ace among the Shitibukai, and Shanks and Black Beard are probably stronger as well…

I would like to see something like this in the following chapters:
Zoro keeps protecting Usopp while Usopp somehow help Luffy.
Franky goes to the other side of the bridge to help Nami and Robin.
Sanji infiltrates one Buster Call ship and reaches an Vice-Admiral.
Zoro and Franky, on oposite sides of the bridge, launch opposite attacks. Coup de Vent + 108 Pound Cannon (both attacks nullify each other in a big explosion as they get into contact), thus cleaning most of the bridge.
Sanji kicks the Vice-Admiral ass (or trick him in a quick fight), robs the speaker, and gets out of the ship.
Luffy defeats Lucci (with or without Usopp's help) and barely gets to the bridge.
Sanji uses the speaker to say that he has taken the Buster Call ship. The other Buster Call ships attack the ship Sanji is in, creating a big smoke and fire screen.
The Strawhats escape using all the confusion to their advantage.

Well, then he don't need to defeat the Admiral. Maybe just steal the speaker during a quick fight and then run off to help the others? I don't mean that Sanji will spend a whole chapter fighting, maybe three or four pages. The end result need not be a VA on the ground. The important thing is that the other ships will destroy the whole ship later.
In that case I acctually prefer the "maelstrom" theory. It would be epic enough to fit this arc, even though there are some problems like they can't take the ship out of there. Or it will be atleast be hard, but Nami might be able to as another guy said manage to steer out of there with her skills.

The "stealing of an speaker and call out something" had already happend once in this chapter, when Robin took the speaker from Spandam and warned all marines.

Nah, I do not think that Smoker will leave the marines at all. although he doesn't follow the rules or his superiors, he still believes in his own brand of justice, which is to wipe out all pirates and bad guys and stuff….. only he will do it using his rules, his pace and his way......not the marines way.....
