Where does Ymir fits on this again? She was Jaws, right?
She ate Marcel who had Jaws yeah, then ran off on her own seeing as she was free from the nightmare. Somehow also decided "hey maybe I should join the military for fun"

I believe that it is supposed to create sympathy for the other side. Give character development to the ones we thought were evil. Also to show the reason that the others are fighting so hard and what they aim to protect.
I actually am enjoying it. Seems like we will be getting back to the main plot soon. Also Bert is such a dork
I get that, but I thought this series did a decent job of showing glimpses of humanity in the case of these characters during the previous arcs that it was enough for me to fill in the blanks and feel empathy for these characters. This chapter in particular just sort of feels like restating the obvious.
And yeah I agree with maxterdexter, we're in too deep with the Paradisians for the other side to catch up.
I can see where you're coming from. Just think that he is trying to build up as much sympathy for Reiner as he can whenever the inevitable clash happens. While I do think that Reiner is more interesting than Eren, I do still cheer for the Walldians future over everyone else's.
Who wants to write me a solid multi-paragraph summary of the last six or seven chapters? (Or this arc in general). I've been tight on time so whenever I speed read them I feel like I missed a chapter or two. I don't trust wikias, and I'm sure someone here would love to write it all out. Right? :D
This is just here to fill in the blanks with the other side of things. It's the training flashback equivalent for the warrior side and has the same problems. I like it for the character insight, but it is definitely a pace-stopper. I definitely care for the wall side the most, but I enjoy how there basically is no "villain side" anymore outside for those who hold up Marley's system at the top (and we haven't seen).
I know generally what's going on, but there have been a number of bounces between timelines so I'm sure I've missed some important bits of information.
I like Reiner, but man, this flashback is getting boring with this monthly publication. There's nothing to discuss except pitying the warriors.

Well, that's true for Reiner and co. but not for the other warriors and chracters from Marley like Porco, Zeke, etc that are shaping up to have some relevance and need to be developed.
Hopefully the flashback ended in this chapter so that can actually happen
I cant believe how a 40+ chapter can somehow show less than a very slow weekly one piece chapter. I feel like nothing of note happened the last 4 chapters.
Thanks for the link. 3>
Man, I can't agree more @Kfunk:

Yeah I don't think this Flashback chapter was that necessary. It wrapped up quite nicely last month, although it was cool seeing parts of the first chapter from the perspective of the titans.

! Looks like the main final plot will be beginning soon!
! i dont understand the part where berthold mentions the old guy who hung himself.
i thought they killed him to cover up their origin, what does berthold mean?

! Presumably they DIDN'T kill him, he really did just kill himself and it stuck with Bertholt
So the most notable thing from these chapters beside the backstory to me.
! In the bottom left panel, the injured soldier with the armband in the wrong location is Eren.
! Pretty much confirmed in this current chapter. In this chapter they show Reiner telling Eren "you just have to keep going" which is the same line that mystery injured soldirer (Eren) tells Falco.

! Eren Kruger or Eren Jaeger?

Well Eren Krueger was a Marley name, so that's that.
Is says, "to be continued in the November issue." Does that mean that we will be skipping a month, or are the issues set up to where we just read from the October issue?

The monthly megazines always have their issues a month ahead.

! Eren Jaeger. Someone actually added the image and Marley arc to the wiki despite it not being %100 confirmed: http://attackontitan.wikia.com/wiki/Eren_Yeager
Assuming that long-haired fella really is who we assume he is, then it takes quite a pair to (seemingly) infiltrate a whole enemy continent on his own.
The pace is still rather slow but we're moving in the right direction.

Seems like something ominous is going to happen next chapter
Wow. I was not expecting that end. Also hey black people!
So Asia does exists in this world.
And holy shit, that guy was tall.

Kenny and Levi withstanding, Mikasa and her mother were the last known Asians.

Ackermans are not Asians. And Mikasa and her mother were the last ones from a particular clan that fled to Paradis Island

I thought Mikasa's mother was related to Levi and Kenny. Was it her father and I'm mixing it up? Actually now I think about it I was ignoring the surname, wasn't I?

Her father was an Ackerman, related to Levi and Kenny. Her mother came from a "oriental" clan that either escaped or happened to be at Paradis Island and she was the last of them until Mikasa was born.
Not much is known iirc but it was never said that Asians or the oriental place seized to exist but that within the wall, they are the last ones.

Up until very recently it was implied by the fact that, as far as anyone within the walls knew, ALL civilization outside the walls had ceased to exist.

Man, that was the most interesting chapter we've had in a while.. feels that way anyways, the Reiner flashbacks were so boring. That baseball and mitt seems to hint that Eren has been plotting something with his brother. The Asian lady being surprisingly kind of makes me think their country may end up being allies with the Eldians.

Yeah, her mother was the Asian one. In one of the early chapters she branded Mikasa's arm with something saying it was a cultural tradition but I don't think we've actually seen yet. Maybe the symbol on the back of the Asian lady's kimono?

But it was pretty obvious that was not the case as soon as the infiltration became known

Not the sheer scope of it. Not that Paradise was cut off from an entire world NOT plagued by man eating monsters all over the place. That's why the existence of Marley was such a huge reveal.
I, at least, always figured Team Reiner was part of some whole other enclave like what the Walls were. Especially since Reiner kept calling it his hometown, as opposed to homeland or home country, even after the jig was up.

That´s not the point

Oh, I think that was set up pretty clearly.
And yeah, black people! Without total black face!
New chapter: https://imgur.com/a/stxeW
The tension keeps rising, let's hope the wait pays off in the end.
Ohoho. It's getting interesting. Not that it wasn't always interesting, but . . .
Oh snap..this is gettting real good. I really like how the author isn't making this conflict Black and white.
Waiting for a explosive finale.
Yeah, this chapter brought everything back together. The tension is back up.
So the paradisians capture another two titans right? Well Marley is in big trouble.

I'd say that is not certain, while the cart titan might be unable to do much in a hole, jaws is small and nimble enough to get out, with cart girl on tow, as in she doesn't transform to get out easier.
There is also that suspicious hug, fatty has info on him now.
They can't transform in the dark though.
Didn't Annie transform in the catacombs?
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
That gives me pause, as regular titans have some weird sun connection, but we have seem shifters in the night and in the dark before, at the very least, I dont remember a transformation fail.
The faceless titan also transformed in a cave.
The only titans that could move without sun were the ones controlled with the Beast titan, also iirc the one in the cave did so with Reiss taking in the fluid.
So far i don't think we ever saw someone transform by themselves in the dark without any "forceful" manner (or external trigger) so maybe that could be it.
I guess Armin as mastermind tactition and titan should be not too far. Or is it implied, that he is the guy with the beautiful beard??
My guess is that beautybeard is armin, and Japanese lady is Mikasa.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Eren first transformation, in the stomach of a titan.
Yeah, asides the transformation in the dark thingie I don't think it would be a good idea form them to transform, that might be seen as an act of treason, and in Reiner case there's a whole building of innocent eldians on top of them.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's why Jaws is the most dangerous of them, is the only one who can transform without fucking everything up.
