Because of how units come and go and can vanish for 80% of the game, it's for the best that you can break off and build new supports as needed.
General Fire Emblem Thread - At Least Mario Got a Funeral
-
-
Yeah that makes sense.
Now is the time to train Jill to (hopefully) make her great again.
-
Chapter…9? I forget. Things are gettin' good. Let's break down the team:
Competent (Long Term?)
Edward - usual myrm, but has some good strength. Although I see where Hana gets her "tank axes with her face" behavior from. I'm not really using Zihark, so….
Nolan - I heard speed is more of his spectiality, but atm his strength is 16 and speed is only 14. He NEEDS to start doubling things, but he hits hard enough. And there's that sweet Earth support.
Jill - she needs some points of strength, but she ain't bad. Not at all.
Aran - Really needs some speed. He's not amazing, but he gets the job down.Ehhh Tier
Leonardo - He was pulling his weight but level after level, strength and speed continue to allude him.
Micaiah - She's forced, so you need to raise her either way. Her speed is a meager 13 and she gets 2HKO by everything, but hey, magic is good enough and Sacrifice helps. At least Thani is OP.
Laura - healer.jpg. Seriously that's all you need her for. Her def is worse than Micaiah's and her godawful speed means EVERYTHING doubles her now.Use Em for Bait and Switch
Volug/Sothe - now they're at a point where they don't outright one-round things, but that makes them more useful, they can weaken for kills.
Tormod - ehhh I guess?Delete Buttons
Tauroneo - won't be using him long term but when you can, he's cool.
Muarim - Rawr tiger rawr.
Nailah - I'm pretty sure she can solo the rest of part I.Benched
Meg - I honestly gave her a chance earlier, and even fed her kills, but her movement is a problem and her stats aren't really going anywhere. Give your weapons to your pookums.
Fiona - Game, are you trying to mock me? Those bases are unacceptable, especially when there's a swamp chapter and a Micaiah-only chapter (where I'm on) to not field her.
Vika - She's not bad in raven form. But I was stalling for turns just to have her transform in the swamp to rescue prisoners, and by the time it happened, three were dead. I guess the game didn't let you take Jill for a reason. Muarim, Volug, and Naliah get the job done a lot better.and finally,
[hide]the goddamn Black Knight. He can DEFINITELY solo the rest of part 1. I still think it's bullshit how he survived after PoR, then again, in my canon, Ike was 2weak to fight him and I had to flee, so whatever.
Oh, and Rafiel is your refresher,so he's automatically useful.[/hide] -
Weird, Meg was the best Dawn Brigade unit in my game almost from the go. Up the point I am (still didn't finish the game), she can solo a whole squad of enemies with ease.
Nolan, on the other side, was benched as soon as possible because the man simply can't land a hit.But now that I was reminded of the swamp chapter, I'm going to cry in the corner. Trying to keep everyone (units+villagers) alive there was maddening.
-
Oh, I forgot Ilyana. Sadly not as great as she should be (Jill and Ilyana seem to be the only PoR characters still tier 1), and I've kinda been focusing on the others.
-
Vika has absurd caps and growths but is crippled beyond repair due to a) being a laguz and b) only usable for three chapters before the endgame.
-
@Cyan:

welp, that's a wrap then.
Also, had to reset once when I tried to give Nolan Beastfoe. Not yet, not until he promotes and gets more skill points. Nihil is too awesome to not have. -
I don't care for any Laguz that is not Tibarn or Ranulf.
-
I don't care for any Laguz that is not Tibarn or Ranulf.
All of the laguz royals are sooo cool, though. Tibarn is my personal favorite though.
-
i really hope that a possible future tellius remake gets rid of the dumb laguz gauge
it shot basically all of the non-royals in the ass -
Good old Fiona. Can't damage with an iron lance, can't aim with a javelin and struggles to lift a steel lance. And the game is so kind to her that nearly half of the maps in her route screw over cavaliers.
What played the biggest part in making Radiant Dawn difficult is that nearly half of Micaiah's units are worthless.
-
Well part 1 is done….cough someone died, but after redoing Endgame for the nth time my patience was at an end for a reset. (at least it wasn't Jill).
Part II reintroduces the Crimeans, but now availability is gonna be..interesting.Prologue was cleaned up on the first try, but only because Marcia got lucky and dodged a lethal hit.
-
Envy you getting to play with Marcia, Kieran, and Nephenee. Love them so.
-
Knowing meta he'll bench Nephenee again even in her chapter.
-
Knowing meta he'll bench Nephenee again even in her chapter.
Well that's just rude. I''ll give her a chance. :O
-
It's not like there is a better spearfighter around that time.
-
It's not like there is a better spearfighter around that time.
and I early promoted Aran
Up to Geoffrey's charge, which looks fun! ….although it's one chapter where you definitely need to do the "speed up enemy phase" trick. -
Part 2 is done.
[hide]
Short and sweet, I like that it focused on the other side of post-war Tellius - an inexperienced Elincia trying her best and dealing with rebellion and distrust. Elincia as a unit is pretty damn useful - flying + healing + Amiti is OP.
Honorable mention goes to Haar, who is nearly unkillable.Unfortunately, the main drawback is that units rotate around a lot, whereas part 1 had a consittent roster.
-I wanted to give Marcia and Astrid as much EXP as I could but I suspect they're gonna be mediocre later on.
-Laguz were already kinda disadvantaged in PoR, so here Lethe and Mordy sadly do not fare any better. They did whatever damage was needed of them.
-Kieran is completely solid (and better than Makalov, who can't double a damned thing), but he needs a little more speed. Geoffrey is one of your best units in part 2, and as such he carried most of his titular map.
-As for Neph and Brom, the latter was essential in plugging the eastern side in Elincia's Gambit. The former helped Haar to the west via Javelin finishing down the ledges. HOWEVER, Nephenee has gotten strength screwed. An energy drop had to be used to get her to 18 str, which is shaky. I will focus more exp on her later.
-Leanne was refresher/10. Thank goodness for battle saves; a Wind Edge killed her on one try. And Nealuchi was more useful than Lethe and Mordy, but still limited in the same laguz way.
-Danved is not Devdan. On turn 12, I decided to go for the kill; Haar chipped Ludveck and Elincia Amiti'd him to death, which fits.
And after that cool cutscene (ps. everyone except Shinon has lol for voice acting), it's time for part 3, where the game really gets interesting. The only complaint is that the war against Begnion doesn't seem like as natural of a flow, narratively, as Pelleas's rise to king led to part 2.
Oh yeah, Ike and pals. Let's see.
….
.....
they nerfed Mist into the ground ;_;[/hide] -
So I started playing FE: Heroes recently and I got a 5-star Ryoma on my third summoning attempt…:V
-
Got back on Echoes to have some fun with reclassing and actually beat Thabes Labyrinth and forgot how fun the game could get.
Used one of Forsyth for lulz (the guy is trying so hard! he deserves another chance!) and he ended up a surprisingly good gold knight.
Made Mathilda a falcon knight and she was more of the same with the added bonus of flight and ORKO almost all terrors.
Then I made Est a mage because most characters of her archetype are this class anyway. That and letting her have more level-ups to make use of her growth rates. On the other hand, the DLC characters turned out pretty underwhelming, gameplay wise at least. Seeing how they're pre-promotes and in many cases have lower stats than their class bases, I couldn't get any use out of them (granted, this is post-game)
Part 2 is done.

they nerfed Mist into the ground ;_;[/hide]The Greil Mercenaries' return is still one of my favorite moment of Fire Emblem.
Astrid got nerfed so badly in Radiant Dawn, to the point of being unusable. This game just too wasn't kind to cavaliers period.
And Haar can beat the game by himself.
-
Yes, I would drop Astrid. Marcia can turn out pretty solid, but that's up to you.
It really is amazing that Makalov can't double shit. I mean, Kieran wields an axe, and axes are heavy. Sword cavaliers are usually the fastest of the bunch, and yet somehow, the cotton candied head clown only wants to hit once.
-
Starting to play FE 6, should I get a patch that helps out with stats (as I hear it helps make it less frustrating), or could I keep going with vanilla and be alright?
-
Just finished Echoes. Atlus died at the very end because I didn't know BULLSHIT would happen, but I assume I can go find a spring to revive him.
Clive turned out better than Mathilda.
-

I found it weird the one of the classes IS seems to like a lot got such a shit character for the Tellius series. Both in terms of stats and personality.
-
Malakov has his fans. Believe me.
-
3-P was a chill chapter to get you readjusted to Ike and friends, but 3-1 was pretty damn hard….which was awesome! I had to keep going back and forth, Rhys and Mist had to heal someone....Boyd would've died if a mage didn't decide Ike was a better target. And good thing too, this was my third attempt. One of them Boyd got critted, lol.
3-2 gives us Haar and Neph, and while I got a few levels here and there, seeing Soren in potentially lethal range made me panic and decide to off the boss. Shinon ate too much damage and Mia refused to crit, so it boiled down to Titania cinching a 72% at worst biorhythm.
Ike, Titania, Soren, Shinon, Mia, and Boyd are definitely in the "will always use" tier, but I'm iffy on Oscar and Gatrie atm. Mist and Rhys are obviously being used for healing, and while they both have lowish speed and bad defense, Rhys at least has twice the magic and tomes. And of course we're using Neph and Haar.
Sadly Ilyana is only level 15 tier 1, so she has to hit the bench. Brom too, although he's swell.
Astrid got nerfed so badly in Radiant Dawn, to the point of being unusable. This game just too wasn't kind to cavaliers period.
It really hurts, because she was the MVP (her and Boyd) in my PoR run. She capped three stats!

And isn't his speed growth like 70%? Makalol
Clive turned out better than Mathilda.
does not compute.
-
To clarify, Mathilda and Clive both turned out pretty poor. Clive had better Attack and Defense, though, while Mathilda only had good Resistance going for her. So I gave Clive a forged Ridersbane and called it a day.
Final (probably) team: Alm, Celica, Saber, Delthea, Sonya, Catria, Atlus, Leon (dead heat with Python here, but I might switch after looking at their growths), Lukas, and Silque.

But Freddy Bear looks great, so tomato tomahto.

Time for another update - up to….3-9.

Mostly it's been Ike and company traveling through. Shinon, Mia, Titania…everyone I'm choosing to use is doing well enough. Boyd's lack of speed procs is worrying. Rhys's lack of speed in general takes me back to PoR. Good times.
Ranulf is good as far as laguz are concerned, but I really don't see a use for Kyza or Lyre, who's just a worse Lethe.Neph, on the other hand, has capped skill and speed and is swinging around for that strength.
I can't remember chapters outright but:
-first fog of war one was really tough; made me go back and forth and make sure everyone was topped.
-castle defend chapter (10 turns) was well done too, considering enemy placement and ledges. I even lost Ike on the first attempt!
-the one with the cliffs severly crippled Oscar and Titania but Haar/Neph/Boyd/Shinon/Mia were able to clean up the scraps. NPC laguz made nice ballista bait. Then, in a twist, you're back to Micaiah's team per Begnion's order to Daein (something fishy with Pelleas...), which is a very rude awakening, because holy SHIT is my team weak. Sothe did a lot with the beast killer, plus yellow units, but I ended up losing two more DBers. .....well, we have Jill and Nolan. Aran, sadly, is not going to overtake Nephenee any time soon, unless he starts getting really good levels.
Then back to Team Ike to fight Micky's team in the swamp, but I didn't get close enough....save for Zihark, whom Neph critted lol. I actually discovered you can change the seeding of Tellius RNG by switching Order commands over and over again. I was lazy and wanted Rhys to dodge.
....aaaand now we're back to Geoffrey's team, after Ena and Nasir saved the hides of Team Ike. At least they're a middleman between the op Greil Mercs and the weak Dawn Brigade, but I only see future prospects for Geoffrey.[/hide]
-
There are no future prospects for Geoffrey.
-
@Cyan:
There are no future prospects for Geoffrey.
haha
The "capped stats" award goes to Soren, who has somehow capped four. Now he's just getting str/luck level-ups for lulz. Titania (atm) is the only one that's tier 3.
-
haha
No seriously Geoffrey isn't usable after 3-9 until literally the chapter before the endgame.
-
Danced my way down to the 9th floor of Thabes and managed to knock off the dragon, but I simply lack the firepower to handle enemies that rush me. Sigh, guess it's time to grind. Considering swapping out Python for someone like Jesse instead too.
-

goddamn it Radiant Dawn.

Well, silver linings, that's two floors further than I got. I'm in the process of grinding myself.
-
Well I've got Atlas with a maxed Killer Bow, and that tends to trivialize any single enemy that doesn't have resistance to it. Don't think I actually fought anyone on the seventh or eighth floors either anyway.
-
3-9 gave me a stupid amount of BEXP (I guess they don't care if the houses get torched, just if you save them), and now that the Crimeans are on Team Ike, I had 30000 points to blow. So I decided to give a few levels to the stragglers (Astrid, Calil, Marcia, Makalov), to make them a little better. The rest of the GMs are so close to promotion, after this chapter I'll promote Shinon/Mia/Oscar/Boyd/Soren.
Good news, I got Sigrun and Tanith, and both seem like very solid, compotent units. They can help the Crimeans I'm fielding.
Bad news = we're on the goddamn bridge chapter again, only in reverse. :X
Well I've got Atlas with a maxed Killer Bow, and that tends to trivialize any single enemy that doesn't have resistance to it. Don't think I actually fought anyone on the seventh or eighth floors either anyway.
I just got the Killer Bow myself. Hope Leon puts it to good use.
-
Beat Thabes, turning Conrad into a dread fighter was great idea thanks to his good base resistence ,dread fighters being allowed to loop back to villager is ridiculous lol Atlas, Gray and Saber capped a lot of their stats because of it, shouts to Delthea for being really good for the dungeon without the ridiculous grinding lol.
-
For those are curious, SF datamined Echoes for all unused content:
https://serenesforest.net/2017/06/29/echoes-shadows-unused-content/
By and large, the only really major stuff was stats and such for Fernand and Berkut, the booze items originally were allowed to be consumed, some portraits. Not much else, really.

And now, I'm up to the beginning of part 4 of RD.

3-12 was kinda ehhh map wise, I mainly just used it to score Jill and Nolan more levels. Yellow units both got in the way but also helped. Surprisingly Tauroneo kept getting god tier levels.3-13, on the other hand….holy shit, what a map! Nolan, Tauroneo, and 3-13 Halberdier-kun blocked the bottom ledge and handled most of the work. Sothe and Jill picked off other enemies, while Fiona (killed by a falcon, rip), Meg, and Volug blocked the ledges.
Ike moving was the "holy shit, time to gtfo" moment. I was safe, but I used yellow units to kamikaze just in case. Surprisingly 3-13 Archer was killed early I think?Aannnnd 3-endgame was a long 90+ unit rout, BUT the death counter was a very cool mechanic. Saw some cutscenes, things got more and more waywire...and I was closing in on the 80 death (yes I looked it up) mark. Jill had approached my team but mostly everyone was out of range and Ike [invincible] was unequipped. I couldn't reach the 80 mark, but the enemy phase took care of it. And good thing too, as Jill had moved into Tibarn's range. If we reached the next Other Phase, I was 100% sure Tibarn would tear her to shreds. Shit.
Part 4 starts with the army petrified and three teams to be made. Had to really think about this, since you have to use all the teams.
Silver: [Micaiah, Sothe, Leanne, Skrimir, Sigrun]
-Haar, Neph, Jill, Oscar, Nolan (possible endgamers)
-Kieran, Danved, Calil, Brom, Volug (not the best but will be used)
-Ilyana (enjoy the bench)Griel: [Ike, Mist, Naliah, Raphiel, Titania, Soren]
-Mia, Shinon (possible endgamers)
-Makalov, Janaff, Marcia, Rolf, Lethe (not the best but will be used)
-Aran, Kyza (enjoy the bench)Hawk: [Tibarn, Reyson, Ranulf, Elincia, Lucia, Tauroneo]
-Boyd (endgamer?)
-Ulki, Astrid, Tanith, Gatrie, Nealuchi, Rhys, Mordecai (not the best but will be used)
-Meg, Lyre (enjoy the bench)Let the dice fall on the stats. Someone from the okay tier could end up being an endgamer and vice-versa. Although Shinon, Mia, and Soren are all promoted, so they're going along. And I'm gonna try my hardest to not let anyone else die
Zihark, Heather, Edward, Leonardo, Fiona, and Laura :ninja:[/hide]

3-13 Archer is better equipped to deal with laguz than your actual units.
Look up a map to go with Team Micaiah's second Part 4 chapter. It becomes an de facto timed mission very fast and there's an obnoxious amount of shit to dig up.
-
Echoes progress report: I've made it to the endgame now.
! The battle outside Rigel Castle took a really long time since everyone seems to have shit for accuracy in this game half the time and I spent the opening turns turtling up and exchanging plinks of fire with the Bow Knights up on the ramparts and having Faye (equipped with the Mage Ring) sniping the low-Resistance tank units before heading into the courtyard, with the Super Baron Bros. Lukas and Forsyth holding the chokepoint. I really wish the anti-armor and anti-cavalry weren't so rare since having more than one Ridersbane during that mission would've been awesome.
! The encounters in Duma Temple weren't that fun thanks to the rampant tile evasion bonuses and almost all the Blessed weapons being stuck with Celica's army. I ended up getting my butt kicked by crazyman Berkut; the look on my face when Rinea warped Zeke over into his attack range must've been priceless. I would've schlubbed all of Celica's Blessed weapons over to Alm if I had known I would be having this amount of trouble.
! Also, Rudolf comes up with this plan that involves his death at his son's hands, and when Alm points out how tremendously fucked up and scarring that is Mycen basically just tells him to STFU? That's a very dick move there old man: I'm not even sure if I want to use you at the moment since even though Clive's on permanent time-out Mathilda and Zeke are still doing well in the Gold Knight role. Also, after gradually starting to fall off during the midgame, Kliff's really started to redeem himself in the endgame as a Blessed Bow-wielding Bow Knight.
Gotta do some more spelunking for forging fodder… -
I definitely want to hear Matthew Mercer making sweet, sweet love to himself as two incredibly boring characters
-
So why is is Corrin x Xander an option when they have plenty of conversations in their own game as it is, and why is it only barely behind Matthew Mercer x Matthew Mercer (obviously the japanese fanbase doesn't give a crap about that but still)
At least the original characters aren't getting the love they don't deserve.
