the real hype is X getting his original armor
Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite Speculation
-
-
I knew Marvel's shame for Cap's classic costume would be apparent here too. I'm glad that they got two obvious classic characters out of the way so we could be prepared for more surprises later on.
-
@The:
I wonder if Moon Knight would be a good enough character for MvC. I haven't seen him in a Marvel game since Ultimate Alliance on PS3.
He is in all of the mobile Marvel games right now, or at least in most.
-
It seems X-Men and F4 might actually be coming… as DLC.

Of course. After all this is Capcom.
Brace yourselves for Ultimate Mega Marvel Vs Capcom Infinite: Arcade Version HD & Knuckles

So that would basically makes the ban real, while the game was being developed the ban was in effect, and some comments by Marvel made it seems like the ban might be gone in 2017, I'll still wait for something official.

This is one of the most hilarious things I've read in a long time. God bless those beautiful comedians at Capcom, as well as the Marvel executives.
Also, after thinking for a while, I realized that there is one other character I would love to see besides a Spider-Man villain. The Vision. He's always been one of my favorite Avengers due to his origin and character development. And he might have a chance to be in if Ultron will be the final boss. His move-set would be tricky since his abilities are mainly flight, solar beams from his forehead, and density manipulation (allowing for both intangibility and invulnerability). He might seem a bit lacking on the surface, but I think that Capcom can be really clever with his move-set if they think outside of the box enough. Similar to a Loki move-set that focuses on illusions.
You know, speaking of Loki… What would he look like in his game? I EXTREMELY doubt that they will go for the outdated classic comic book version that looks a bit ugly. But I also don't think that they will go completely MCU by just making him look like Tim Hiddleston since he lacks the traditional horns. I think it will be something akin to his current comic book look with smaller horns and a spear:
!
! -
They would go with the movie look, they have been puting that look in the games.
-
Probably. It just… I like it in the movies, but it just feels weird to see Loki without his horns. In a medium that's not live-action, it looks like Tom Hiddleston is making a half-assed cosplay. And while the game is indeed being faithful to the MCU, I would argue that they're trying to make the looks specifically more like similar costumes in the comics nowadays (which are heavily modeled after the MCU costumes themselves in several cases) than a completely carbon copy of MCU suits. For example, MCU Cap has two brown straps around his shoulders unique red/white shaping on his stomach, and fingerless gloves. But Infinite Cap looks just like comic Cap in recent comics, with full red gloves, no shoulder straps, and rectangular red and white flag marks on the suit. But we'll see. I'm just saying that Capcom is allowed a bit of freedom than having to always just copy and paste MCU costumes like other Marvel series might.
-
Loki had the horns in the Berlin scene didn't he?
-
I remember there being scenes in Avengers where he had the big horns. Such as when he grabs Hawkeye's arrow and it explodes to launch him into the Hulk beatdown scene. But he doesn't wear it at all in Thor 2. And the MCU version tends to not wear the horns when in video games, although Capcom might want to put them in since they're quirky. I expect an Agent of Asgard-inspired look.

….. Eh..... as long as we get them I guess?
I mean, Wolverine, Magneto and Doom are required characters for this series... anyone else is negotiable IMO...
I'd rather have them in some form than not, and if this is the way to make the top brass at Disney let it happen?....
-
Even though I could care less about him most of the time, I would argue that Deadpool's a required character at this point too for fans.
I'm gonna laugh my ass off if the first DLC pack includes Sentinel.
-
I'd say the only required characters from X-Men/F4 would be Wolverine, Storm, and Doom.
But they'll probably pair Marvel characters with Capcom characters.
We all know who Logan needs to be paired up with…
-
Speaking of pair-ups, I need my Peter Parker and Frank West photographer dynamic duo.
-
Frank West will most likely return to promote Dead Rising 4.
-
I thought the same thing as I was typing my comment.
I just wonder which Resident Evil character(s) will get in. Anyone's fair game now that the past continuity is (seemingly) not relevant anymore with 7.
-

I didn't even know there WAS a Dead Rising 4 until you mentioned it. That happened right behind my back. A shame it's XB1 only since I don't got that.
As for RE characters, if Capcom's gonna bring Jill back, I want RE1 Jill. Using RE5 Jill was a mistake they should never make again. Or they could try something different and use Claire Redfield, I'd love to see what they can do with her. I think Leon should get a chance in the spotlight for once since I feel there are more fans for him than Chris (or maybe Barry Burton because everyone loves him and his Jill Sandwiches, myself included). They'll most likely keep Wesker, 'cause he's Wesker. As for the bioweapons, Nemesis is probably a keeper, but maybe they have another one in mind.

I totally understand why RE1 Jill is preferable over RE5. But how would she be different from Chris? A Marvel vs. Capcom game should only have one Resident Evil protagonist. I would prefer Leon, but ANYBODY beside Chris or Sheva is good for me. Wesker needs to say. And Nemesis is fun just because of always saying you know what, so I have no problem with whether he stays or leaves.
…If Infinite has rival/team-up characters between Marvel and Capcom, would Nemesis and Groot make for the perfect pair-up?
-
My only issue with Leon was the fan outrage after Chris was confirmed. There was so much "Chris is shit! Wesker is stupid! Jill is lame! Why not Leon?" And there was just so much shitting on those three, the original duo and villain of Resident Evil. I just don't want them to be happy. I got nothing against Leon otherwise.
I had been hearing rumor of Ada, and as much as Ada would probably be a revamped (and hopefully better) MvC3 Jill, I'd be down for that.
Resident Evil 6 spoilers:
[hide]Wesker's moveset returning in the form of Jake Muller is always a possibility.[/hide] -
…Scratch that. I don't want Chris, Sheva, OR Jake. That's just... Ew... Ada would be fine, but I doubt we're getting just one Resident Evil character. In fact, Ada getting in would just make Leon more likely with how they make would make a similar pair-up to Chris and Jill.
-
drop wesker he's a nerd
keep Nemmy at all costs though
that big boy is goin' places, I tell you -
I'm just imagining what the remixed theme of Ada would be like.
Oh my god, PLEASE let this be another game of remixed theme songs and wonderful goodness. If there was ever a moment I didn't enjoy UMvC3, the soundtrack was there to life my soul and tell me to hush.

Capcom saying this gives me high hopes we get to see new characters instead of the same ones we got in MVC3/UMVC3, at least we have X and Carol. As for the looks, I would prefer the comic ones, but the MCU version is not bad, is just not that comic-esque (which I think is the way they are going with this game).
-
Drop Wesker and gives Maximum Spider back to Parker.
-
Good. I want new characters more than anything.
The only returning characters I truly want are Morrigan (who is in), Storm (my heart…), and Chun-Li (who might make it in). Otherwise? I want some new faces all around.

I'm not really seeing the parts that support an significant flux of new characters. It says "numerous popular characters", not new characters. If anything, what we should pay attention to is how they keep mentioning a cinematic story being present in the game. Perhaps we might actually get a Subspace Emissary-styled story this time around.
-
On account to Street Fighter V's story, we can expect the story to be extremely dumb, extremely fun, and riddled with load times for no apparent reason.
I'm excited. Not even joking.
-
I hope Rashid saves the day in this story mode too

What caught my attention was when they said they were looking to resurrect their old series, starting with MvCI (even though five years isn't a long time compared to other series which went 5+ years without a new entry).
All I want is a new Rival Schools and/or Darkstalkers, Capcom! I just want you to love me like you did in my youth!

And the vast majority of comic movie watchers dont care whatsoever for comics anyway, so going with movie versions makes even more sense. I still hope for alternate costumes at least.

We shouldn't generalize all of the characters either looking like comic or movie versions though. They're most likely going to mix and match. While they're heavy with Captain America and Hawkeye having their movie looks everywhere, they're lenient with Spider-Man and Thor looking like their classic comic books selves in both modern comics and other media (and the fact that their comic and live-action costumes aren't too different helps out). And even with Cap, his costume is actually more akin to the details of his current comic book look than the movies if you look at the costume details.
What I'm intrigued about if whether or not the Netflix heroes will look their comic book or live-action selves. Jessica Jones would definitely look like Netflix self since that is the image and tone Marvel wants for her character now, but Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Punisher can actually go either way.
-

Maximilian Dood (a fighting game aficionado if you don't know him) gave some insight on some vids.
And some news on X-Men apparently.

I hope they use daredevils comic outfit, cause netflix outfit is some hot gahbage. xD

I don't mind his armored look in a live-action setting. But in comics or video games? Yeah, it's trash lol. I'm praying that they don't give Iron Fist armor in the live-action show. Maybe the body, but his mask NEEDS to stay as a bandana.
I expect Iron Fist to mainly look the same as he did in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. But having all of the green replaced with black like his latest comic book look, which will probably be what the Netflix version will look like at the end of the season (the trailers only showing Danny without a mask and sporting a beard have ne suapect that it will be like how Daredevil got his true costume at the end of the season).
!

Capcom put out Gameplay footage????????
-
days ago, where have you been? xD
-
Capcom saying they are going to make a somewhat good story mode for this game, sure, I don't expect a Mortal Kombat story telling level, but at least the endings wont be just a slideshow like the previous game.
Maybe something like SFV story telling, which is not that bad.
-
So, I saw Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 at the psn store for 25€ and immediately bought it without thinking twice about it. . .
. . .and now I'm wondering if I made a mistake.
Does this game have any kind of community on its PS4 version? Are the off-line modes good?
-
you can certainly try but the netcode is still a big pile of not good
-
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is dead to me until I can play as the King of Spain again.
Seriously though, I can't believe how blatantly they ripped off his likeness. They didn't switch around ANY of the attire. They just changed the color of the sash, and it's still blueish. That's hilarious.
EDIT: And I know that this look was directly adapted from House of M. That makes it even worse on Marvel's part lol.
-
iirc the new port has all the dlc, so that costume should be there
-
But it's not. Everyone's complaining about it because it could get Marvel and Capcom under legal heat from Spain lol.
-
When a major sequel is announced for a "high profile" fighting game series such as Marvel VS Capcom, passionate fans can't help but be excited… but many will have skepticism if the new installment will live up to the originals. That said, this latest bit of news about MVC: Infinite is definitely a good sign. When asked if Capcom was biting off more than they could chew in regards to balancing MVC: Infinite, Marvel Games' Executive Producer Mike Jones stated:
"We talk about that all of the time. What's awesome though is we have some of the original developers, that worked on the earliest Marvel fighting games at Capcom in Japan, now working on this newest iteration," he said.
"(We have) some of the original visionaries, who kind of came up with the crazy, bombastic and dynamic gameplay, that was originally featured in X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes and all of the Vs. series [games] from there," Jones said.
"They're now re-imagining and re-envisioning what the future of the franchise is," he noted. They're going to have a [monolithic task when doing] tuning, balancing and design - but they're definitely up to the challenge."
-
With all due respect, those games weren't exactly paragons of balance, either. And just because somebody was at the front of their field 20 years ago doesn't necessarily mean they're still the ones to look to. Nice to hear they're trying, at least.
But in the end, it'll still launch being somewhat imbalanced, and after a year or so of competitive play we'll get a patch that will fix some of the issues, like every other fighting game ever.
-

One thing that irritates me tho is that I own the PS3 version still, but I can't Download any of the DLC. I thought this Port would also mean they got the rights to re-issue the DLC, but I guess not….
They could at least figure out a way for me to upgrade from my PS3 version to the port at a reduced cost... I REALLY don't wanna completely rebuy the game for the DLC....
Man, is it just me or is this the ONE Area where Nintendo is actually BETTER with their online store than Microsoft and Sony?...

No because Nintendo still rereleases old games on new tech that'll you'll still have to pay a substantial sum for.

Yeah, but if I own a game digitally on the Wii VC, I can transfer it over to the Wii U for free and it will play in the Wii U's emulated Wii mode, and then if an upgraded version comes out that has Save State support and Wii U Gamepad screen support, I can upgrade to that version for a fraction of the cost of the full game.
It'd be nice of Sony had the same deal going.
-
I personally love the fact that they opted for a 2vs2 structure rather than for the classic 3vs3 one. It has the potential to make everything much less messy and much more entertaining in my opinion.
I'm a bit disappointed in the likely (?) absence of the X-Guys though. They were both so iconic and unique. In particular, Wolverine embodied Marvel itself as much as Ryu embodied Capcom in the franchise. So, assuming they're actually not going to be part of the final roster, their absence is going to be a major loss for me. I also have to say that the only X-Men actually needed are, in my opinion: Wolverine, Storm, Magneto and Jean Grey. Let's hope they're going to join the rest of the characters in the end.
