Food Wars - It's In the Trash
-
dammit
that reference made me smile
i need to rewatch that movie some time soon -
Erina laundry shenanigans are always so kawaii
-
All the praise went to the topping.
But not a single comment on the Soba.
Tradition can only take you this far unless you innovate.
-
You can skip it if you want.
-
Jesus christ we all know fucking Soma won, don't make us wait another week.
-
Most pointless cliffhanger ever!
-
I fucking loathe the post match chapters where the author just drags out the result, so much of the chapter just feels like filler. Just do the results and move on!
-
What would be the point of saying "Soma" this chapter, without highlighting whatever his dish did better than Nene's? I'd recomend to not rush the meal.
-
I'm eternally baffled by the fact that SnS/Food Wars is always on the tail end of releases from the group that does it. Though I'm eternally grateful to them. But in reality, the only thing they do that's better than this manga is One Piece.
-
Chap is out. http://readms.net/r/shokugeki_no_souma/214/4242/1
19 pages to fucking tell us what we already knew….
But hey, Soba butt.
-
19 pages to fucking tell us what we already knew….
Of course. What do you think this manga's about? Do you think you can just say "his dish was better than yours" and be done with that? Nope.
-
Well at least we saw her butt
-
She is still ugly.
-

\
We didn't need 19 pages explaining that the main character won.
-
I really like this chapter. It makes for a far better explanation for Soma winning than what we had at the end of the last chapter.
Isshiki will obviously win.
And now, I'm starting to think that we will have an upset in the (former) 3rd seat match.
As for the rest of this team shokugeki, all I want is for Takumi and Eizan to get at least 1 win. -
Nah, is like a detective story, is not about who did it but how did they did it. "We know they are going to catch the culprit, uhg, get on with it"
About the exam, I'm guessing that Tsukasa is going to be the one rampaging, taking down the former elite seats, and (I hope) even Soma.
This boss battle should go to Erina. And I'd like Megumi and Takumi to at least take down one opponent.
-
i'm glad alice got to explain science at least
-
-
Thanks, guess that explains it then as the panels are always pretty intricate.
Yeah, seems like it's a series with more work. They also call (as a joke presumably) One Piece + Dr. Stone + My Hero Academia the new 'Big 3', so it just also might mean their priorities are a bit different.
But in the end we get the chapters, so I'm happy.
-
i would like for ishiki to win against Tsukasa, that way we know that ishiki is the strongest, and he will be the oponent for soma to beat in the next year. this will make sure that there are no loose ends concerning ever beating the third years. as ishiki is now the king and beating him next year is still possible.
-
Yeah, I'd like that as well.
If soma wins, then the manga needs to close up. If someone else wins tho.. sets up future rivalries, and interesting power dynamics.

Hadn't thought about this, but that would be nice, yes. Although I think after them gaining control of the high school (winning this Shokugeki and thus gaining the majority in the Elite 10), we'll go the the World Championships after.
But yes, Souma not beating Tsukasa this tourney would leave more room open for the manga to explore.

We're second this week, huzzah!
And I'll just say, T H I C C
-
But what about the Third Match? At this point, the author is just hyping the other newbie by beating the former 3rd seat.

Not so fast Rindou is most likely stronger than Eishi and Erina should be the one to win this entire thing.

By the time the series ends I expect a final foodgasm that borders on hentai. Tosh is guaranteed to go all out if he keeps upping his game.

What if it's something like the end of Sausage Party?

What if it's something like the end of Sausage Party?
Took the words right outta my mouth, I was thinking precisely about that.
-
it's rare to see italian used properly in both english and japanese media but this time it was on point.
usually the butchering of the italian language is just hilarious
-
Horse shit..
These girls aren't THICC.
What sort of false justice is this. 6/10.
-
I don't know what made me laugh more, Anne consoling her own chest, or Isshiki trying to look cool.
And the title for this chapter couldn't have been more fitting.
-
Urgh! Dagnabbit.

What a badass. Too bad the third bout is pretty much irrelevant right now, as they won with 2-1 at least. Unless I'm forgetting a rule.
-
it's a 10-man battle
this is just the first round of matches -
Its elimination all the way. If the nameless one wins, then seat3 dude is out and can't compete.
-
I hope that the next 3 rounds of shokugeki start to show cooks helping each other. That's the rule that interested me the most when we learned what the "régiment de cuisine" was.
Just having multiple 1vs1 shokugeki done simultaneously isn't what I expected. -
Ah ok, my bad. Though this 3v3 was a Round 1 of sorts. Thanks for explaining!
-
As other mentioned, it seems weird that even though the showdown was supposed to be team battles, they are all 1 vs 1 for now.
With the remaining match, it seems like a split. The 3rd seat should win, and even if he is having difficulty, he could get help from the other two that just finished their dishes. Although they might want to play it as: "It would insult his pride" or something like that. If he does win, then that is that, and we'll see some disqualifications next round. To keep things evenly, the 3rd seat should lose, but not knowing his cooking methods yet, I cannot decide if he will be used as a hype tool, it seems that the rebel team is too strong, not nearly enough underdog~ tones.

No way should the former 3rd seat lose to someone who isn't Rindou or Eishi.
-
^I believe so as well, the 3rd seat should not lose. I do remember he went out first to route all of them. My concerns lie in the situation right now.
First of all, has the third seat finished cooking his dish?
If not, would he accept help from Souma and Eel guy[he should as that is the type of contest]
Does he need help? Is his opponent worth the effort of three talented chefs?Let's say he wins: then:
The rebels have 8 members, while Central has 5. Unless the next challenge wipes out the participating rebels, then the tension is already dying off.Of course, I can see the third seat participating until someone defeats him. As you mentioned, Rindou would be excellent for the challenge. I find unless they are trying to hype the first seat(by defeating three of the ex. Elite members) Eishi should just seat back and relax.

Shame we didn't get to see the third/fifth seats cook, but I guess we'll see him again soon. Love that Kuga is gonna play a cooking role again.
-
Looks like Kuga will be the first to lose.
-
Well, I am glad that the third seat outclassed his opponent to the extent that it was not even worth showing his cooking methods.
On the other hand, it seems that the first seat will try to take down three rebels in the upcoming round.
-
I don't necessarily mind the last match being off screened, since both characters we know pretty much nothing about except their ranking. That being said, that's the huge problem with a good chunk of what this whole section is with me. The idea of a bunch of people cooking together is pretty cool in theory, but at this time it isn't really working terribly well. First of all is there are a lot of characters who we know nothing about, even though they were introduced quite a while ago. Sure, Soba Girl was expanded on during the match, but I had no reason to be interested in her going in, and her back story didn't really do a whole lot for me, especially considering her history with Ishikki and the fact she faced off against Soma instead. If I had to go off the current people left on the antagonist side, I'm really only interested in seeing Rindou, and maybe number one (I have a hard time remembering names at the moment). On the rebels side there are more to be interested in, but if they don't have opponents I'm interested in then the matches still end up being not as exciting.
Second is the whole idea of how people are supposed to be working together, and in a way could help each others weaknesses. Seeing how the members of Central are supposedly less friendly to each other, this is supposed to give the rebels a little more leg up in that respect, yet the first round was everyone for themselves. The idea of seeing certain people work together was supposed to be a big appeal, yet we got non of that. This would've been a good way to get a small introduction to former third seat, his cooking style and a little bit more of his personality/cooking style.
Overall, there have been some fun character moments, and some of the art for reactions to eating some of the food was pretty good, especially with the judges eating the Soba. However, it's hard not to be disappointed in the current set up, and hopefully some of the stuff can be rectified.
-
Pffft that chick's face looks like she may of foodgasmed a little too hard
-
So, yet again a lot of chapters for the Souma match, which outcome was totally obvious from the very beginning and who already had a long fight against Hayama before, but no time could be spared for the Third Seat match, despite him having practically zero screentime before and with a theoretically pretty open match (as a lot of people have been speculating, that he might lose to hype up the female chef)?
@The:
I don't necessarily mind the last match being off screened, since both characters we know pretty much nothing about except their ranking.
Is that not EXACTLY the reason to NOT offscreen it?
Okay, its the new SnS I guess.
With this, we also have all the three new Elite10 members losing in their very first match since their promotion, with one against a non-E10 and the other two in horribly one sided curbstomps. And that on live television for everyone to see.
How can anyone take the E10 serious anymore, when obvious powerhouses are randomly kicked out and replaced by fodder? And it wont help just because Eishi or Rindou will eliminate a bunch of rebels in the upcoming chapters. We know these two are strong as hell, its the rest that matters.
Lets see how the next fights go. I hope we will see a tiny bit more from the Third Seat, the sword guy, Momo or from Rindou. And even if Mimasaka will lose next, he hopefully does it in style. But I swear I will quit this series if we off panel most of them but spend like 10 chapters on Souma against Eizan- -

I think this is exactly the point though. They were new, decided on due to a slaughterhouse of a cooking competition. Hayama? Destroyed. The other 3 newcomers in this battle? Destroyed. It shows that central might not be the end-all-be-all they want the school to view them as. Obviously, Tsukasa, Rindou, Momo, Saito (those who genuinely deserve to be in the Elite 10) will put up more of a fight.
This first round was basically the freebie, to clean up Central's line-up to nothing more than it's pure core: the true Elite 10.
