It's not, but if you have a Wii U it's on the virtual console there
Nope, no Wii U. Guess I'm not playing Rekka no Ken.
coughemulatorcough
It would be great to see a rerelease of 7 though, considering that a lot of Western fans have a special nostalgia for it.
Finally got my second vote in. FE6 Bartre it is.
Next up, FE13 Tiki.
I'd rather if they finish remaking ancient fire emblems instead of the ones that are both playable and already distributed. Some systems dont age that well.
Assuming Echoes is the start of this remake series, we'd get Gaiden -> Genealogy -> Tharcia.
I mean, they COULD remake 7 once they get to Binding Blade, if they wanted to connect the stories better, but I'm fine with virtual console release. The only oddity is FE12. FE11 got an international release, but IS isn't going to remake a remake. So….the only hope for western players is to get more DS virtual console.

Actually, I think they could put Genealogy and Tharcia in one port.
I mean, Fates started with 2 games, so why not?
Genealogy and Thracia in the same game would be horribly disjointed because midway through the story all the maps become much smaller, all your units start sacking, all stats save HP get capped at 20, and the game gets hard as balls. And then it goes back to Genealogy's massive maps and Sigurd coming back just to get blown up.
You forgot about that damn fog.
obviously they should have them separated into different scenarios
Sigurd's Super Awesome Adventure
and
Go Fuck Yourself, Nerd
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I'm trying to vary my choices up a bit
My votes look exactly the same as Ruin's XD
I'd be down for a remake of the SNES games. Those could use more exposure.
Fun fact: You can pick Camus three times.
@Cyan:

they have 0079, Zeta, and Camus's Counterattack?!
I never played any Fire Emblem so if I was to get into this series where should I start at?

get Fire Emblem and Sacred Stones on the Wii U for classic gameplay or Awakening on the 3DS for modern style gameplay
they're two different beasts in terms of how to approach them, but both are worth trying out.
Don't bother looking for the Tellius (Ike) games, though. They're incredibly rare and a total money sink

Alright thank you. Which Ike games are there? I know Radiant Dawn on the Wii but what are the others on? If it comes down to it I can just play them via a emulator.
Ike games are Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn. Radiance is GC and Dawn is on Wii, yeah
Path of Radiance is worth the shot. Radiant Dawn…not so much.
I just realized maybe I can finally run a GC emulator on my computer. Last time I tried, the PoR would always crash in the first hour.
I wanted to play this same so much I actually went through the bore fest of watching it on youtube…
Meanwhile, I still ain't anywhere close to finishing Awakening and doubt I will bother picking it anytime soon.
@Cyan:

You can pick anyone as many times as you want:
I can't imagine starting with Radiant Dawn unless you're up for a horribly disorienting experience and possibly hating yourself (and Sothe) at the end.
I should probably finish Path of Radiance. I stalled out in the final act.

No I started with The Sacred Stones
I started with FE7, and I got so attached to the cast as a kid that I avoided FE8, because it didn't have my favs like Pent, Priscilla, Oswin, Hector, etc. I literally saw demos for both it and Radiant Dawn across the years, but my FE love dimmed. Then Awakening recharged it.
To think, in an alternate timeline I could've been one of those few people that still owned the discs of the Tellius games.
….fuck.
Keep your disks/cartridge kids. You will never know if it will cost millions in 10 years.
Bonus:
!
I seriously find Sacred Stones to be a terrible starting point compared to FE7.
FE7 comes with an included tutorial to get people used to fire emblem. Then comes with a main campaign that rocks and then a harder campaign that rocks more, and then hard mode and all this awesome shit all over the place.
Sacred Stones has branching promotion paths which help experienced players more since you have a more decent idea of unit classes. Characters are some of the least memorable, continent that never got follow up, and the game introduces a player to the "grinding the game" feature that makes Fire Emblem less about strategy and planning and more about spending stupid amounts of times repeating motions in order to make your units unstoppable.
It's basically Awakening without the polish of awakening. Though you do get to have those sick GBA sprites…

In my case I've played games similar to FE before so the genre is nothing I'm new to.

Funny. Sacred Stones was my first Fire Emblem game and, well, needless to say, it kept me coming back for more.
Though yes, I will grant you that it didn't exactly prepare me for the more intense and less accommodating FE7 and Path of Radiance.
Though you do get to have those sick GBA sprites…
Damn do I miss those. This, as well as the general aesthetic and design of the games, is why the GBA era is my favorite era of Fire Emblem.
Honestly, the best starting point is FE7 or Awakening. However, if you start Awakening, understand that majority of the series thrives on characters being permanently killed if they die in battle and not the revival system. So don't be surprised when you play previous installments.
FE7 - More challenging but has the best balance of teaching you and prepping you for the harder games.
Awakening - Much easier but can be too easy and fool you into weaker strategies that will get you destroyed in other Fire Emblem games.
They both have the benefit of introducing a large portion of US fans, so they work for new players too.
GBA spritework can't be beat. The crits were flashy, the costumes were amazing, and there was so much style in just the way they attacked and moved. I miss my hovering Hero shields and mirror image Swordmasters.
Though if we're being honest, FE7 doesn't have all that more memorable characters than 8. Lyn and Nergal are better than their counterparts but your recruitable characters in each are a mixed bag.
That's more subjective I feel. Since I replayed 7 so many times a lot of characters mean a lot to me. Lyn, Hector, Florina, Sain, Rebecca, Nino, Canas, Guy, Oswin, Matthew, Dart, Heath, Rath, Serra, Raven, Bartre… lots of really likable units.
Meanwhile when I think back on 8 I can maybe get hyped about Joshua. Then I guess some like Lute were pretty alright too and the rest just felt like scaled down versions of awesome FE7 characters to me.
Also, I feel the opposite about Nergal's counterpart in 8. Found that antagonist in 8 considerably more interesting.
Lyon certainly has more "depth" than Nergal, but I think Nergal is a more effective villain. Lyon just seemed boring.
FE8's good characters include Tana, L'Arachel, Joshua, Lute, Amelia, Ewan, and Cormag, who is tied with Haar for my favorite wyvern rider in the series.
But on the other hand, FE7 (and FE6) had nomad troopers so they win by default.
Imo FE7 is a slightly better starting point than Awakening. More games have rescue and canto than they do pair up.
Sacred Stones has my third favorite Lord, Seth.
Dumb Predictions for Fire Emblem Switch.(FE16)
-Ophelia, Nina and Dwyer to return with different names.
-Leo, Camilla and Oboro to return as children units with their names as anagrams (Elo, Lamicla and Roboo).
I'm like Noqanky in this, I love many of FE7 characters and the roster as a whole has a special place in my heart (spreading to many FE6 characters for obvious reasons), while FE8… I like 3 or 4 character and that's it. But L'Arachel alone makes the game worth the time, best overly obnoxious princess in the franchise.
Anyways, just downloaded Dolphin and PoR and it runs perfectly! I am trying to not get too excited because I suppose it can still crash at some point, but maybe I will FINALLY be able to play this game (I'm cool nowadays, but I was obsessed with it for years in the past).

The whole ensemble of antagonists in 8 was pretty solid. Caellach was actually pretty cool (warts and all) , Lyon and Orson are some of the most well written tragic characters in the whole series and Valter was genuinely threatening.
Torn, because on one hand, I want to spend all 13 votes on Ranulf, but on the other hand, I feel stupid and would rather vote the way the want me to. Plus, I want to give love to characters other than Ranulf.
So far: Ranulf, Nephenee, and Kieran. Probably voting Marcia tonight, and then I swear, the rest of my votes will be non-Tellius related.
I haven't ironed my votes yet, but I think it'll be Caeda, Bartre, Tiki, Echidna, Gregor, Marcus, Fae, Eirika, Lyn, Seth, Anna, Titania, and Sully.
I voted for Nephenee, Nephenee, and Gonzalez
I decided to stick with the same character because I assume +1 vote in a character won't make any difference whatsoever. +13 at least may make him/her stand out from the muddle where all the old and non-popular characters will be.
+26 for me. Voting with my nintendo account on my computer and then without it on my mobile.
Extra when I can get others not into fire emblem to vote as well :ninja:
Fully expecting Awakening/Fates characters to get way too many votes because of those games getting so many new players… Gonna be pissed if the entire top ten is smash FE lords and Awakening/Fates units.
when the whole squad is broken af
There's so many broken characters in Sword of Seals that it seems unfair to just pick one.
For Blazing Sword on the other hand…I guess Canas? Jafar?
For Blazing Sword on the other hand…I guess Canas? Jafar?
Canas is a fucking monster, especially with how Luna works in that game.
And yet Lyn didn't get to be playable in smash… grumbles
In any case, back to repeatedly voting for the same character.
