I finally found out how to type Japanese on the computer and on the AP forums. Yet mastering Hiragana is still not easy. I'm getting better at knowing what each on is but only in the order they're in. If you showed the to me at random I'd be stumped. Luckily, I found another site so I could take advantage of that.
-
http://www.thejapanesepage.com/news.php
Memorized hiragana within a week and half with that site. Katakana the next 2 weeks.

And the next step, putting words together :E

Hm, I'm full mando, but i was raised in japan for roughly 3 years of my childhood. After i came to canada, i pretty much forgot all my jap (well, not all… but it's still pretty bad =p) in about a year or so only because I never used it... ever again. =.=

Batdan, maybe バットダン is better.
Dr.Chopper, oh, I didn't know you lived in Japan before. My coworker's daughter, who grew up in the States and never spoke in Japanese, went to Japan for 4 months or so, and when she came back, she couldn't understand nor speak English. XD Kids are amazing.
ピングネーター、いいなぁ。俺は休み無しさ。

(キュートの服を買いたい>_>;)Haha, I'm bored right now, and I probably need to write more Japanese, since I don't have too many occasions to write it… And plus, trying to learn 3 new languages at once sure does make you forget your older languages (given I probably wouldn't forget my native tongues - English and Japanese)
It should be:
えぇ~ピングおめでとう!!
こちらは今秋で大学初めてだよ。楽しみ^^
今、夏休みなんだ。休みなのにバイトがある。。。T_T
しかし、バイトの近くでよく工事してるので、あまり働いてない。

(キュートな服を買いたい>_>;)Errrm..... I'm thinking, judging from your old posts, that most of your mistakes were either simply typographical or slight misuse, but then again, I'm not sure - maybe break has melted away your brain Btw, お楽しみに is only used impersonally... You wouldn't use it to say "I'm looking forward to it", but rather "Look forward to it"....
Man, but it's so hard to correct other people's writing... If you want to make it sound more "correct", then you'd end up completely changing the words and moving things around... I don't like doing this, so it ends up just being "grammatically correct" but weird-sounding =\ Oh well, I'll leave now before I confuse you any more
-
I think it's just break lol I haven't made any huge flumps like that in a while.
– though all this does remind me I've got letters to write across the pond. >.> -

-
ooshi, don't worry about it. I was tied up by other projects this week, too. I released total of 21 chapters this past month (including other groups' projects) o.O! That's like more than a chapter every other day. I'm so dead by now.
セラちゃん、夏だからねー。日本ってやっぱ暑いの?こっちも先週末は暑くって、クーラーはおろか、扇風機さえうちにない俺は会社来て涼んでたよ(笑)でもやっぱ家に帰るとまだ暑かった~。今週は打って変わってなんとなく肌寒いけど。

I'm not japanese, but i am Philippino! Which is also Asian, like Japanese, hey, atleast that counts. I can also read and write in japanese, but not very fluently… much to my dismay. ;_;

Just wondering if it's true that most japaneses are racists and don't like people from other countries coming to japan to live and work there… I heard this from quite many, but I think it could be most of the older generations who think like this but still... so.. is it?
-
まぁねぇ。スレの落ちることはしかたじゃないでしょう? 私にはもう日本会話がちょっと苦手で、話すことが出来る人が少ないねぇ。。。
とにかく、みんな、明けましておめでとう~
今朝飛行機旅行だったx_x; 午前7時出た。 眠いなぁ~
今年は新しいアルバイトを探したり、もっと細くになったりしたい^O^Solid – hum well how to put it ? I guess to some degree it is racism but I think in most instances it's more like, not being able to deal with a language difference. Certainly the employer will rather hire the fluent native than the non-native who might be prone to being misunderstood. In professional companies I think this is less so because they know it's all about business but in an entry-level job I think you would be far less likely to get the position.
-
I can read a little in Japanese i have a book can Everyday in Japanese Konnichuwa!
-
I'm trying to learn just basic stuff right now. I find it easier to memorize kanatana(that spelled right?) then higurana actually. Kanji sucks to memorize.
I am also thinking about talking some classes to learn more. So I hope to learn so I can at least read ok and understand it.

I'll be taking a course in Japanese later this year. I've actually already memorized katakana and some hiragana, but learning all those different kanji seems pretty hard… I do know several words and phrases from the many manga and anime I've seen, but overall not too much.
-
I'm not Japanese and only know a few Japanese words and phrases by ear. I can't read a word of the language. I don't plan to learn the language, as I'd rather focus on Welsh, Spanish, and English as primary languages.
-
みなさま、あけおめ&ことよろです。
省略しすぎだよ、日本人w
セラちゃん、お雑煮、いいなぁ。俺はもちを買うことは買ったんだけど、お雑煮なんて作ったことないもんで、きっと焼いてしょうゆで食うことになりそう。こっち来て作って?
俺のクリスマス・正月は特にたいした事はなくって、 Scanlation + 読書の日々でした。普段と違うことって行ったら会社に行かなかったことぐらい?ちょっと悲しい? ^^;
Just wondering if it's true that most japaneses are racists and don't like people from other countries coming to japan to live and work there… I heard this from quite many, but I think it could be most of the older generations who think like this but still... so.. is it?
They're more racist towards in the countryside. My family is a Chinese immigrant, and since there weren't so many foreigners in my town, I was bullied for speaking non-Japanese language. Afterwards I prentended to be 100% Japanese, and it was better… I think. Though, people figure out our identity through my parents, since even though they speak fluent Japanese, there are still some accents...
Overall, I think the descrimination is more towards Asian countries... If you're Caucasian (I don't know about African Americans), you'll be most likely okay. If they don't talk to you, they're just shy. I do hear some people being "descriminated" in housing/employment situation even if s/he is Caucasian, but I think they just need guarantor, much like me when I first came to the States.
ちなみに俺は正月二日から仕事始め (泣)
なんか、正月三日ぐらいまではみんなで休ませてほしいんだけどね。 -
I'm German and I speak 4 languages, but I can't speak japanese. But I'd really like to
-
Except for my Danish maternal great-great-Grandfather and that my paternal Grandmother has been able to trace our ancestry back to some Polish immigrants in the 17th century, I'm 100% Scanian Swedish.
Except for the appility to say "Thank you, mr. Robato" I barely speak no Japanese at all whatsoever…
For the past five years I've been telling myself to learn Japanese, and that I'll begin tomorrow, but somehow, I never seems to begin reading my Japanese for Dummies-book, or evenn trying to learn simple phrases or grammar.
Now I'm almost 17.
Still worth a shoot?
-
I'm 24 and I just started learning japanese.
So, you guess.
Btw, Japanese for Dummies wont help you learn it right, perhaps a few phrases here and there. Get a real book like Minna no Nihongo, or something.
-
I can speak the basics(gomen,Kanpai,Konichiwa, ohio,Sayonara) But want to learn how to basically learn how to speak a little more besides the basics and read it too.
BTW, what form of japanese do I need to learn to read books like the One piece manga since I own 2 vol in japanese?
-
What form of writing, you mean? All of it - Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. There's books you can buy that will teach you grammar and how to write them. It's easier to get organized by taking a class though. I just started taking Japanese a few weeks ago and it's extremely challenging but I'm motivated so I'm having a blast.
There's no shortcut if you want to learn to read and speak the language. How long did it take you to be able to read and write English? It's much harder to learn a foreign language. -

(how can you type in japanese by PC? and is it supposed to be shown in blocks and fractions, numbers? or does that mean my PC cannot read Japanese text?)
-
You should be able to activate Japanese language recognition in Windows.
Go to your control panel and "Regional and Language options". http://newton.uor.edu/Departments&Programs/AsianStudiesDept/Language/asianlanguageinstallation_XP.htmlEdit: actually I have somewhat of a problem with it, I can't seem to type anything but katakana, even though it has hiragana selected as the default. :/

It's free, you should be able to just switch it on.
