! I liked L, but I couldn't help but be happy when he died, since I'm a Light fan and it was good to know that the manga lived up to it's name and no character was safe.

Since the movie takes a different storyline, I'm hoping it's one of those
! dark endings where the world is taken over by an evil despot. In other words, I hope Light manages to kill Near and all who oppose him.

well, i just finished rthe series, here's my view on the ending and overall the whole thing.
! the ending wwas the coolest thing ever. the last 9 chapters, 100-108 were amazing.
! i found the way light went nuts in the end was great. it really seemed like he went insane and was getting desperate.
! tho my favorite part was when ryuk killed light. it was very kool how somethign at the very beginning of the book. ryuk really owned all.
! tho im confused!
! at the end, misa misa is there with the kira followers. does she remember everything then? im confused there.w00t! major spoilers up there.

I'm glad to see another person who liked the ending. We're a rare breed it seems.
! Actually, there has been debate over whether the girl in the last chapter is Misa or not. She seems to have a lot of different features from Misa. The girl looks nothing like her IMO. However, she could have changed a lot in a year, and she loved Kira before even getting the Death Note, so it's not unlikely for her to be with the Kira followers. Plus, why would Ohba give some random girl a full-page panel at the very end of the story? I'm not taking any sides.

Actually the girl was a combination of Ayanami Rei, Ritsuko and Asuka. See if you compare the voice actress and then look at the wounds you'll see that she bears the same wounds the Ayanami had when Shinji first met her while her voice is actually Ritsuko's and her body is…..oh wait, wrong series.

I'm inclined to agree. Akira Ishida as Light? He seems a little too . . . . high-pitched to play Light. I always thought Light should have a deep and sinister voice. I mean, if the character wasn't so young I would hope to god Jouji Nakata played him. Unfortunately that's a voice that's TOO deep.

I personally really hope those aren't right. Akira Ishida as Light? Okay, MAYBE. That other guy as Ryuk? I don't know him too well. But Romi Paku as L? Hell naw.
I still want Seki Tomokazu and Seki Toshihiko as Light and L, respectively, with Juurota Kosugi or Jouji Nakata as Ryuk.

its not that its just that kappei yamuguchi tends to over act way to too much. As calm as L is, I am a little worried.

I don't see the voice fitting either. L seems more calm. The shows I have seen with Kappei Yamuguchi seem more hyper… (ex: Usopp, Monta). We'll see when it airs.

Seriously. I understand the overacting concerns but if it's anything like past performances he will nail it.
Also, haruto Sakuraba's VA = Light huh? Interesting…. from what I can remember he's a rather mellow sounding teenage-male voice, sounds correct for Light. (Cool, calm, collected)
