! Onion continues to be best "human" lol.! Also liked how they showed how garnett's future vision worked
! She can know everything that could happen in a situation but still not guess right when the actiom is about to happen, it's not so OP and it's not really usable during a fight. I guess this explains garnett's " I knew this would happen " although its more like " I saw this as one of the outcomes that could happen " -
! Mr. Smiley and Mr. Frowney's bit at the end made me smile
-
! I want shorts with Frowny and Smiley; let them be about Beach City or something but still, more George and Sinbad.

! Colton Dunn has been Smiley's VA since Sadie's Song. It hasn't been stated why Sinbad was replaced, guess is he's too busy with touring.
-
! Had to lol at Smiley being a former comedian and then saying he didn't want to talk about it. But hey, turns out it actually was something deeper.
! So yeah, nice episode.
! EDIT: Holy shit! Mr. Frowney was played by Babu Bhatt?! -

Who? Is that man?
Babu is the name of the character, but Brian George is the actor who played him. And I've just now discovered that he's actually been in a bunch of stuff I like (Star Trek DS9, Justice League, Avatar, and he's the stand-in voice for Captain Barbossa)

I think Onion Steven got renamed to Onion Gang. So some titles may change.
I dunno which one is the more misleading, but hey it's a Onion Episode. -
Yeah it looks like the episodes listed for the 15th changed, so Tiger Philanthropist and Gem Harvest aren't airing yet
I don't know if this is true bc I haven't listened to the SDCC panel but one of the show runners suggested there would be another Steven Bomb this fall some time perhaps. Maybe the episodes we're seeing now are the one's he was talking about but in a regular schedule
-
I think that was Matt that said during SoS that would be new episodes in September.

Last One Out Of Beach City is up around the net already, as seems to be the new norm.
! Incredibly cute episode. SU keeps managing to push the heights of gay they can achieve and the results are indisputable. The credits gag made me laugh a bunch, as did Pearl 'drinking' and complaining about the DMV.
! I wonder if the mysterious girl is going to be a recurring character. It would be neat to have another complete outsider mixed up in the gems' biz. Also her design reminds me of Ozzy from Monster Pulse to the point where I have to wonder if one of the crew is a fan. For reference. -
What a fucking good episode, or at least an episode that I needed right now

Top tier episode. I alternated between laughing, cheering, and d'awwwing. This show is a master of character development
-
Fantastic episode
! I can definitely see Mystery Girl returning, but, if so, I wonder how they'll handle the Rose resemblance aspect. Usually this would be a cautionary tale against trying to relive the past and/or having a relationship based on appearances, but with this show you never know.
-
! Ahahahahahahaha
! That was awesome!
! Pearl the god damn rebel, she even made a friend after all that. That outro was perfect lol. -
! That was a cute episode.
! She didn't look that much like Rose IMO. Being big, tall and pink might be enough…
! I'm gonna guess mystery girl's name is Stephanie. -
Man this show! I lack words to describe how much I enjoy it. Bravo Sucrose, bravo.
-
I feel like there's more to the "Ocean City No longer on fire"gag
-
literally me this morning, to my boyfriend, after we just finished rewatching the series and were discussing shipping in Steven Universe: "Pearl and Peridot can't be a thing because Pearl has a type." then this ep happens lmao
-
I could see some interesting gags between this girl and Pearl
-
! I'd love it if she and Pearl started a relationship.
! Aside from Connie and Steven, there hasn't been any developing relationships in this show, has there? -

I keep saying this, but after episodes like this especially: Progression of the overarching Homeworld narrative is not Steven Universe main draw. Man, what a pleasant surprise this episode was; we spend a lot of time theorizing about Rose and Pink diamond and what have you, so something like
! "Pearl crushes on a cool human girl!" completely blindsiding you is great.

This episode
! I wasn't expecting this, at all. That isn't to say I didn't enjoy it, I'd argue it hada greater impact because of that.
Pearl wanting in on that "cool" stuff is adorable especially when it all shatters the moment she sees the gal with the pink hair. I was so rooting for them to actually speak, and maybe give a hint of it being more than a one-episode thing.
The car scene does shed light to some basic difficulties the gems face being sort of part of society. At least Pearl, since she is the only one usually concerned with the law (see 1st episode). I do wonder if the police got the license plate number off of Greg's car, he could be in trouble.
! But enough of that, let us have more awkward Pearl trying to hook up with humanRose. -
funny. these are my favorite.
-
-
LOVED the newest episode! Pearl trying to be "Cool" was freaking hysterical.
! I'm worried about Mystery Girl's appearance tho… going for someone because they look a lot like someone you lost doesn't feel like the healthiest start to a relationship...
@taboo:slides the sdcc zine to you and whispers LAPIS and PERIDOT
….... and I have a new Avatar as soon as I get home.....

Meh. I feel like, as Taboo said, Pearl just has a type. The type being big pink-haired rebels

I dont really expect the pearl plotline to go anywhere really

This is the show where the mailman has had at least three episodes dedicated to him. Including a flashback he wasn't even in.
Mystery girl will absolutely be back.

Huh thought I sent my reply earlier…
She will probably come back as a background character/ interract with pearl, but Im not expecting a deep relationship or mystery girl joins the crystal gems, the main point of the episode was to see pearl come out of her shell after all
-
I expected Pearl to have a new relationship/interest since "It's Over, Isn't It?" was basically her officially moving past Rose in the show. I think we'll see mystery girl again but it's hard to predict how far they'll go with it.
While it would be a good parallel to Rose to show Pearl falling for a human, and then developing a greater interest in humanity and defending the earth etc, it could be an interesting development later in the show too if they broke up or if Pearl decided they couldn't be together because she's basically immortal. Its hard to say because it'd have to be seen through Steven's eyes and who knows how much he'd be around for honestly.
It could be a funny episode to see mystery girl learning about rose and then dyeing her hair a different color in protest

Im on the fence because it seems like a lot of shows go the route of protagonist moves on from boyfriend or girlfriend and enjoys themselves but hold onto being stable and single, getting a new date is way better than that…Throws character into another relationship. And I know pearl has gone through a ton of development before this episode but Im just kind of sick of that trope in general although pearl is definitely a character who it would represent a departure from rose ( well still a tall pink haired rebel but maybe tha's her type IDK ) but it would make literary sense.
Im not expecting her to be around much because the show still revolves around steven is also another main point of mine, but I dont expect this relationship to move fast enough to affect the main plot besides pearl and her getting to know each other and most of that would be implied off screen between their appearance .

Okay yeah sure the show's primary focus is Steven, but Garnet, Pearl, and Amethyst (mainly the latter two) are very important deuteragonists and get quite a bit of development.
- Pearl obviously had the most prominent arc because of Rose and being thirsty af
- Amethyst had some deep-seated insecurities because of the way she came out of the ground
- Garnet, being a very ideal relationship, tends to show up more for the benefit of other characters (Mindful Education, almost fusing with Peridot), but there are certain parts where we see her tough facade crack as well (seeing all those fusions in the kindergarten, that shit that went down with Pearl)
And as Daz said on the last page, the show is king of character development. Without these pieces and progression of side plots, the main plot would feel considerably more meagre.

Well Im just stating I dont think she'll become a major character for the remainder of episodes because her link however brief was mainly to pearl and existed along with the rest of the episode to show pearl trying to " live a little " and prove a bit that she still had some of her fire ( coolness, badassery, whatever you want to call it ) from back in the day.
So while in universe this episodes progressed on her arc of moving on from rose and establishing her character without her, it also showed her interacting with steven and amethyst as a part of herself evidently that wasnt known by them due to when they met her. ( As an aside I think pearl's attitude might have changed after the war too. ) While they could develop the relationship of them however they wanted I expect them to 1. Not drop it completely because their continuity record is too high and it would be kind of lazy writing. 2. Not have pearl's relationship with mystery girl greatly effect the show or rather the relationship between the 4 gems. Like something that would mostly be between pearl and her and reference occasionally and brought up in plot points but pearl still has her own identity and relationships with the others

not saying that other characters dont get development but usually, if not always, Steven has to witness it just because he's the main character. Pearl is super thirsty so I dont know how much of her relationship would be appropriate for him to see is all i'm saying lol

…they could theoretically end their relationship the same way Rose and Greg did... :wassat:

If Gems fall in love with women, could they still have kids without dying, could rose have fathered a race of half gem children like steven if she wasn't as heterosexual as she was?
Someone needs to ask Sugar this lol.
This topic does back some bad memories of checking out tumblr profiles after seeing cute fanarts and learning they were primarily hentai pages though.
On second thought maybe we should never mention ths topic again :ninja:

Rose had to make a womb in order to have steven so… I guess pearl would have to ...
uh, anyway, Steven's gem is Rose's exact gem so if there's no way there'd be more than 1 child per gem
