Had a blast playing Garp! Ceasar felt a bit sluggish but atleast they're not a fiasco like Lucci was.

Ugh … this is on sale for Steam ... should I bother? Half of the reviews for the game there are cries for people to play to fill in their lack of online players which doesn't spell good to me. I mean, I'm not huge on fighting games in general anyway which limits me to the One Piece RPGs (Pirate Warriors is great though), but it's on sale and if people WANT others to join in so they can keep playing ...? They must be coming back for something.

It's One Piece in America, so you know the mainstream support isn't there… meaning online players are rare.
Especially now since the game has been out for awhile. The online scene is pretty dead.
And if you dislike fighters, your love for OP would need to carry you, because the game itself isn't all that great either.
I mean, I like it, but I like fighters.
Not to mention single-player content is pretty barren so... I dunno, it's looking like a "pass" for you.

This is pretty much the last DLC "Garp and Caesar". I know most people are disappointed with the story mode, modes, and roster. However, improvements will be better in One Piece Burning Blood 2. Since this game is developed by Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi team, They will add plenty of females regardless of their screen time, moveset, or a nonfighter and make the story mode longer in the next game. These are the top two aspects fan were complaining about. Bandai Namco will keep supporting One Piece Burning Blood until they announced the sequel during some time in 2017 and release the new game in 2018. This is good decisions because the producer of One Piece Burning Blood wants to get more source martial of the 3 new arcs Whole Cake Island, Reverie, Wano. The manga is his main focus based on adding Gear 4th Luffy before the anime. The next big dog is Kaido.
Some interesting online modes are 9 VS 9 cooperative play gathering 9 friends playing against other 9 players online (The game already has a 9 vs 9 offline mode which symbolizes the number StrawHats, the developers knew what they were doing). A Davy Back Foxy theme mode fighting for your teammates until you or your opponents has no teammates left. A Beli mode betting fights to who wins or loses while talking shit or having a good time winning your matches and making beli. A King of the Pirates mode which is basically fighting. A Dressroa Corrida Colosseum Battle Royale mode similar to Naruto Storm Revolution 4 player mode or J-Stars Victory VS/VS+ 2v2 (I didn't have a problem with these games like most people did), but all for one and knocking each other out the ring getting eaten by fighting fishes then retry getting the most K.O points. And a tournament mode, a key feature in any fighting game. These modes will be perfect for the next game.
Cross your fingers and hope we get a Nintendo Switch version because Bandai Namco and Spike Chunsoft will both support it.
I know most people didn't like this game because it was J-Stars copy and paste, not Pirates Warriors 4, or not the same level as CyberConnect2 Naruto Storm games. But the game doesn't play anything like J-Stars, that game was 2 vs 2 casual brawler, it's not even depth death compared to Burning Blood which is focused as a 1 on 1 area fighter. J-Stars did have a little depth "tag team combos', but that's it. If we get J-Stars 2, it will be better because the PS3 and PSV won't hold it back.
I don't have a problem with the Naruto Storm games, but CyberConnect2 is quality over quantity based on their Road To Boruto DLC expansion pack. They focus way too much on the 3 to 4 hours Boruto story mode, but won't develop the main villains or any characters part of the story mode as playable characters (Confirmed by CyberConnect2 Naruto Twitter account). Nobody cares about the story mode as much because once you are done, you hope straight into online. It's not really CyberConnect2 fault since that's the main reason why people like their games. Same situation with Telltale Games and their games. It's the main reason why the Walking Dead games are so freaking popular. CyberConnect2 did add a new offline mode "Adventure Mode", but it wasn't entirely new or interesting because it's basically what you did in Naruto Storm 2, 3, and Revolution, but bigger "exploration and side/story missions".
Spike Chunsoft is quantity over quality. They added new online and offline modes never done in their past games (Coop, 9vs9, and Pirate Flag Battle). They didn't focus too much on the story mode. The story mode was basically a tutorial teaching you the haki and logia gameplay mechanics. Not every anime game needs to play like Naruto Storm games or their won't much variety in the gaming market. If CyberConnect2 did develop a One Piece fighting game, it wouldn't be the same as Burning Blood at all. The fighting system would be very similar to their Naruto Storm games or .hack Versus. 1-2 health bar, energy bar, stamina/sub bar, QTEs, traditional/health remains rounds, up/down/side combo, and one special technique. Not to mention, they would release the main game, the next year spin-off game, then main game, and after that main game complete edition. Nobody wants to deal with CyberConnect2 scummy tactics, lack of support, remvoing features then adding them as paywalls, shitty netcode unless you only care about the story mode. These fools still haven't patch Jojo Bizarre Adventure Eyes of Heaven and I paid a full $60 retail for that game.
I don't have a problem with Pirate Warriors series, but many people hate those games because they're very boring. Fighting games are not as boring because each match is different and you don't what to expect. They do get boring but constantly adding new characters, new stages, and modes solve that problem. For example, look at Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and Street Fighter 5. Anyone can play the Musou games like the Japan girls fanbase is huge for these type of games so….That tells you they're not that hard. I want a Naruto Musou, but the Naruto Storm community don't want it.
I would say give Burning Blood a chance. The story mode is icing on cake. The Marineford Arc ended 6 years ago (RIP Ace). Playing with the characters trying to perform different tag team combos similar to Marvel Super Heroes, Marvel VS Capcom, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, X-Men VS Street Fighter, Street Fighter VS Tekken, and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for each team is fun. The game is still pretty active thanks to last DLC. For the PC version, just find friends to play with and you're good.
Based on the complaints of Burning Blood being too hard or people can't understand the game well. Spike Chunsoft might remove the haki/logia gameplay mechanics and 3 vs 3 battle system(unity chain, assist, and clash). This might upset a lot of people since that's how the developers advertise this game, but it's not their fault. They need to make sure everyone can play the game equally. This is the same situation with Dragon Ball Raging Blast 2. Bandai Namco and Spike dropped Dragon Ball Raging Blast 3 because the fanbase had a hard time understanding how to play the second game. They developed Dragon Ball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi instead so everyone can play equally.

Is this game still kicking on the Ps4? Recently got one yesterday. Planning on getting this. Its 20 bucks new at gamestop. Pretty odd simce the pre-owned version costs more

Just rechecked the price. Digital is 60, pre-owned is 28 and new is 20. Dafuq? @_@

….That's a bit presumptuous.
This is good decisions because the producer of One Piece Burning Blood wants to get more source martial of the 3 new arcs Whole Cake Island, Reverie, Wano. The manga is his main focus based on adding Gear 4th Luffy before the anime. The next big dog is Kaido.
If Pirate Warriors 3 is anything to go by this will be a bad decision. Making a new game and including elements from an arc while the arc itself is still going is a bit of problem.
Nobody cares about the story mode as much
Actually they do the third game was popular (and slightly divisive) in part for this reason.
Not every anime game needs to play like Naruto Storm games
Given that UNS is a game that's routinely cited for it's visuals and it's gameplay it's not much the games need to play like UNS so much as they need to look and play fun.
or their won't much variety in the gaming market.
This argument would make sense if most anime games weren't RPG's or fighting games that are lazily designed or have poorly written stories. To say nothing of the fact that Anime games occupy a very niche space in the video game realm
it wouldn't be the same as Burning Blood at all.
I don't think too many people would care.
the next year spin-off game,
That you don't have to get.
then main game, and after that main game complete edition.
….Publisher's releasing complete editions of video games isn't something recent nor was it pioneered by Namco or Bandai.
Nobody wants to deal with CyberConnect2 scummy tactics,
The way you're complaining about it doesn't seem to be a case of "nobody" but rather "you. If they do this with a potential One Piece game you're going to buy these games depending on how much of a fan you are or simply ignore them.
remvoing features then adding them as paywalls,
I don't know of any feature they removed and added as a paywall in the Storm games. And this presume's Spike Chunsoft wouldn't ever do this.
shitty netcode
Storm's 2 and 3's netcode as I remember was fine. And also presumes Spike Chunsoft wouldn't put out a game with shaky netcode
I don't have a problem with Pirate Warriors series, but many people hate those games because they're very boring.
Okay and? Their hating the games which is because of them not liking Musou games in general doesn't really matter to anything.
Fighting games are not as boring because each match is different and you don't what to expect.
Not really if you know the ins and outs of each character and depending on other factors, matches are generally going to be the same.
They do get boring but constantly adding new characters, new stages, and modes solve that problem.
That is if the new characters aren't awful and the modes aren't dull.
That tells you they're not that hard.
Not at the default difficulties no.
I want a Naruto Musou, but the Naruto Storm community don't want it.
!
I would say give Burning Blood a chance.
Nah I'll just wait for the sequel and hope Spike Chunsoft irons out whatever problems were that people complained with the first.
The story mode is icing on cake. The Marineford Arc ended 6 years ago (RIP Ace).
Yeah but what if you didn't like the Marineford Arc?

Do I just suck or is doing the guard break a fucking pain in the butt to pull off? I bought the game for the PS4 today and it says it's square and then X to guard break. Took me about 10 minutes to finally get it and Im not even sure how I did it @_@ Then the heavy guard break came next. Took me less time since I just kept mashing the buttons that make it happen. Now Im stuck again. As I am typing this, Im against Kuma and the game wants me to do a ranged attack branch and guard break branch. But I can't effin do it. Im sure it has to do with timing but god damn. This is frustrating.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Figured it out. Such a simple mechanic yet I managed to make it complicated.
-
Square + X = light guard break
Triangle + O = heavy guard break -
Square + X = light guard break
Triangle + O = heavy guard breakI am aware of the buttons to use but it doesnt work sometime. I thought I had it but I actually dont. When exactly do you use the move? When theyre blocking or in logia right? And whenever I press the right combination of buttons, nothing really happens for the most part.

You have to push both buttons at the same time. However, the attack frames for each guard break is different for most characters. Some have fast ones while others have slow ones.
It works against logia guard and regular guard. -

It works against logia guard and regular guard.Ah. I didnt realize it has to be at the same time @_@ It just says Square + X and usually that means you press them right after the other to pull off moves. Will try it tomorrow. Already beat the Luffy episode and got a game of PvP. Got wrecked my Jozu. Was doing okay but then Jozu happened.

Yeah, the lack of story mode really soured me on the game. The lacking intructional content - or just the fighting controls in general - aren't as fun.
I still play DBZ BT3 more often despite it not having an online mode (which was still a big mistake).

I have been playing One Piece Burning Blood for PC (I couldn't find a thread for it, just for PS4). So far I am liking the game. Some character feel very sluggish and maybe I am wrong, but sometimes during the story mode the AI hits you for half of your health. Obviously I am still in the stage where sometimes I spam things, but sometimes it just infuriating.
Examples:
Sengoku vs Blackbeard on Akainu's story. Daaaamn, getting that fruit made BB hit like a GOD, even using Garp, one or two black holes and it was finito.
Luffy, Jimbe vs Moria: Between the spamming Brick bat, it was incredibly refreshing sending the mofo flying. At one point he was doing the attack that pierced Oars Jr against Jimbe and he just juggled me to death spamming the same attack three times.Questions:
Can you move while you are hit in mid-air to avoid this scenario?
Is there a quick get up after you get knocked down?
If someone is in the middle of a combo (let's say: X X X X X (regular attack -controller Xbox 360)) and i am hit by the first punch, am I done? Or can I block the second/third…attack that follows. Not sure how it plays out online, but with the little handicaps I mentioned, if I didn't have a perfect run with Sengoku (not being hit once) it was instant death. Thanks

For the knocked down, what I meant was: for example, in street fighterxtekken, when you get knocked, if you press attack as you are landing you do a quick get up, do I have to move as soon as I touch the ground? Or is it a mechanic not implemented?
Does the flash coubter work if you have already been hit? So instead of pressing block in a combo, I need to press attack?
Edit: I added you, my avatar is Jimi Hendrix username Kaosu Kira

Before hitting the ground after being launched in the air, press the B button/O button to quickly get back on your feet.
Flash Countering works by pressing the X button/Square button (the attack button) RIGHT before you get hit. It can also be performed while your being comboed by the opponent, although everyone just mashes the X button/Square button instead.

The game and its DLC are on sale on Steam; I already had the game, but I got the DLC since it was $9 for everything. Really disappointed that the new characters don't have any team-up lines.
I guess it makes sense (the voice actors are probably pretty busy, so it would be a bit excessive to get them back to record one or two extra lines), but it seems weird to me that there's no special lines for things like having Garp and Sengoku team up (or fight), having Garp team up with (or fight) his grandsons, or having Lucci fight Luffy or Robin.
-
Just curious, if a game gets a Welcome Price Edition. Would you consider it successful since Burning Blood has a Welcome Price Edition.
http://onepiece.bn-ent.net/news_detail.php?id=124 -
I don't think it has anything to do with the success of a game. It's just a price cut, as far as I know.
Xenoverse also received a welcomed price edition last year.
http://www.kanzenshuu.com/2016/05/31/dragon-ball-xenoverse-receiving-welcome-price-edition-japan/ -
I completely forgot about the game, until Steam Summer Sale showed it to me (Gold Edition for 25 Dollars). I didn't even check for the last new DLC fighters, so I am positively surprised that it was Caesar (whom I voted for). So let's see if I wasted 25 Dollar or not.

Found the game for 9 € today at my local electronics shop!
I couldn't resist although i already have more than enough games to finish …
