I gave in too lol.
! These last few episodes feel better bench watched or bomb formulated (don't get used to me saying that) than they would weekly, especially with the transition from Barne Mates to Hit the Diamond. But we definitely need more of Beach City focus.
! Rose's powers are an interesting case.
Saw all three of them
! Barn Mates - Good episode. As usual, Peridot gets some great bits and while Lapis may have seemed harsh, I can totally understand where she's coming from. And dat cliffhanger
! Hit the Diamond - Okay, two things that bugged me: 1) The utter incompetence of the Rubies made Gem Homeworld itself seem incompetent. Like, why would they even send these guys? 2) Ruby and Sapphire's lovey-dovey schtick got kind of annoying to me. Other than that, yeah, just a really fun chaotic episode.
! Steven Floats - So glad to get back to the status quo format after the recent chaos and Peridot/Lapis building. And yeah, this was a nice episode. Loved Garnet breaking into someone's car and Amethyst hitting the bird.
Same Old World
! Lapis Lazuli staying probably means Peridot is not joining the Crystal Gems. I mean, no way the group would expand so much in so little time. They will probably be like the "SH armada" in the sense they are not part of the crew but are affiliated to it.
When I realized it I was saddened because it meant Peridot was not becoming part of the main group, but then I remembered some months ago I was not that excited with the prospect of Peridot because her personality overlaps too much with Pearl and she can become annoying with too much exposition, so I supposed it is for the better.
Barn Mates
! This episode was a bummer. I really dislike these episodes when people try to forcibly establish bonds without any concern to the other own time. And it's worse when it actually works… So 10 minutes that felt much longer and at some point I minimized the episode and just listened to the audio while doing something else.
Hit the Diamond
! What do you know, I might finally end up liking Lapis. She always striked me as an angst teenager and that just irked me, but then they went extreme with it and it suddenly became fun as hell. "Bob" was priceless.
Perfect episode and, man, I want the Evilll Ruby to come back.
Steven Floats
! I can't tell how much I related with Steven in the first minutes. It felt like an eternity since I saw the temple, Beach City, its people and, most of all, Garnet/Amethyst/Pearl antics. There's no place like home
! I like how they make Garnet's powers fail, makes her more human, and puts a pin on the whole slew of complaints about "Garnet should have solved this effortlessly!"
About "Hit the Diamond"
! freaking amazing episode! @_ @ But, hm, what's I'm thinking is that the Ruby Gang weren't sent by Yellow D/Homeworld. I assumed that they were, like, renegades… Possibly fired from gem-kind by Jasper when they clowned up a mission she was leading. Or somesuch to similar effect.
These episodes might not have aired in the "bomb" format, but I certainly feel like one got dropped on me. They were superb.

Dude,
! you need to pay closer attention! They clearly state that they are on a mission from YD.
[embarrassed] Buh, buh, but… :'(
! they are more simpleminded, they were given a mission without context, about peridot or the history of earth. Or maybe it isn't the kill peridot ship, but the "see what's keeping the last mission occupied" ship sent before.
! I think the Ruby squad is the most component enough squad Yellow Diamond could find that wouldn't ask questions about the Rebellion or anything. As far as Yellow Diamond knows, her problem with Peridot will resolve itself when the Cluster explodes her with the rest of the planet.
! Obviously their mission was to retrieve Jasper and leave Peridot to die on the planet since it was going to explode any moment anyways.
! Yellow Diamond might also be operating under the notion that Peridot was already killed by the self-destructing transmitter.
! Also Stephen Floats pretty much could have been a first season episode especially seeing as how the Gems didn't bother to go get the person who could actually fly.
Finally got around to watching the episodes
! Barn Mates was ok. The Lapis/Peridot problem needed to get out of the way, and it was nice to see it (mostly) solved in just one episode. I like how the pond got used in the end. Makes me wonder if Lapis would be powerless without water.
! Hit the Diamond was easily the best part. Love it when the gems switch outfits!
! Steven Floats. Felt like an old episode, and that's what I've wanted for ages.
! This has been a pretty good "bomb". Finally got the conclusion to Malachite and a temporary conclusion to the cluster, Lapis and Peridot are now part of the crew but keep to themselves in the barn, and some all-around funny, happy episodes to lighten the mood. I don't mind when they expand on an issue and have a mini-arc, like Peridot's redemption or Sardonyx, but it's nice when things progress fast. Like Lapis. She could have an entire arc of her own, but after the previous episodes it would've been too much.
! It's nice to finally wonder "what's next". I'm guessing we'll get a bunch of Beach City episodes (maybe even see a gem monster or two!).
Considering the names of the upcoming episodes, we'll see Greg, Lars, and the food industry professionals, getting something more "serious" 8 chapters latter with "Monster Reunion" and "Alone at Sea", where we might get more insight on the gem monsters.
! Playing Baseball against the Rubees was so cheap. In no way the Gems could have lost. This was a Ball, that was a Fair Ball, a Fly Ball, a Foul etc. etc… no tension at all when you play that game for the first time with such simpletons.
! I almost rooted for the Rubees because of that. But was with Lapis the whole episode.

! Well the main reason they almost lost was because Sapphire and Ruby were busy flirting with each other to concentrate on the game and then they accidentally fused after Sapphire hit the homerun, blowing their cover.
Wow, guess I'm all caught up on the show now….I don't know when to expect the next set of episodes.
Saw Barnmates. Actually choosing to watch them in the order they are released on NA's CN unspoiled. Can't really tell which spoilers pertians to which for the most part in the thread, so I'm choosing to ignore the discussion for the rest of the month maybe.
! I think this episode sold me on Lapis. She's actually showing a bit of personality outside just making herself suffer, so I'm looking forward to see her open up a bit more. Also like her "whatever" demeanor in her expressions when they were being invaded by the Ruby spacecraft. Looking forward to see where this goes next. Wasn't exactly expecting the response from Yellow Diamond so soon.

Also only on S3E4, so no future spoilers about the leaked episodes below
! It doesnt look like they sent that many people though. I mean for all yellow diamond knows peridot is all by herself and isnt that strong. I think YD will show up at the end of season 3 and that'll be the "good guys suffer a big defeat" part of what originally was a 3 season series
! AMY! Eeeearl! Bob. and.. Sophie! ^_^
! This episode was easily one of the best, cutest, and funniest.
! Oh and I vote this for the best Ruby:
!
That was a top 10 episode
It is funny how one of the defining features of a common soldier class is overwhelming cuteness.
Sugar presented some Hit the Diamond concept sketches on her blog
!
And one from Joe
!
Aaaand some personal speculation…
! Seeing how Navy (Ruby with gem on her stomach) was similar to Steven, I wonder if there's some truth to the theory that gem placements affect the gems personality. I can sorta see how the Crystal Gem's gem placement corresponds with their personalities, but then there's gems like Lapis. What the heck does "back" say about your personality? Is she laid-back?

Jasper's placement is what gets me. Lapis' is a bit easier. Out of all the Gem's she's the most guarded and distrusting, and she always has her back against the wall.
Jasper is hard-nosed.
The ones that lack a body part and have a gem replacing it, like eye rubi and jasper, seem more focused.
But can Eyeball Ruby see why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch?

wow, silver…i'm surprised you dug that old bit up.
Untagged fanart ruined this episode for me, but it was still really good.
! I really like the softspoken Ruby and I was half wishing she got lost and stayed behind. She's just so cute!
! Funny that Yellow Diamond sent what looks like her teddy bear collection to planet Earth for a super important mission. It makes me question YD's actual personality behind her stern demeanor a little more.

! It is possible this team was sent out before the whole YD clod bit. Maybe they were sent out on earlier check on my Jasper and co were taking so long.

! Yellow Diamond might be trying to kill Team Ruby off by giving them dangerous jobs. They're just in that sweet spot of being just competent enough that they don't die but just incompetent enough to not actually do anything right.

! I actually started to call them The Homeworld version of 21/24 but decided against it; you picked up the slack anyway.
! Also I'd like to see a fancomic of that with Yellow Diamond and Smug Pearl.

Got to see them! So my top 3 in chronological order

Gem Drill:
! I love love love how this show addresses pyschological states with very easy and crisp visual imagery and audio. They already did it so well with Stevonnie's little panic attack in "Alone Together". Here they made it very clear how torn and out of control the cluster is and made it really scary to imagine how it must feel to be part of it.
Steven being able to communicate with it must have been something he must have gotten from Rose and her endless empathy- And maybe soothing the Cluster was the best job for Steven. Depending who these fallen Gems once were (Rose's enemies or fallen comrades) they might have gotten really unstable if they had seen a Crystal Gem instead of Steven.
Peridot was a darling from beginning to end this episode.
Barn Mates:
! Best thing was Lauren Zuke's promo image
!
! I would immediately sacrifice "Two Broke Girls" to dark unholy powers to get this show on air instead.
! But I like how Lapis' shitty behaviour was addressed by Steven. And even though she's probably gonna be kind of a highmaintenance gem, her love for Steven will be enough to glue them all together. And I find her highly amusing.
Hit The Diamond
! Yeah, hands down all the other episodes can go home. My favourite by a landslide. Newbie was also my favourite but the tough Ruby with a secret gentle soul made my heart grow fonder too :D
All of them were quirky little sweeties and even though they were the enemies I couldn't help but root for them! I hope they finish their mission and become heroes U.U
I am very excited for whatever they got planned for Jasper.
[hide][/hide]
! Lapis straight up turned into Alien-Daria and I could not ask for more.[/hide]

That's a pretty interesting observation. Since the show has some heavy hindu vibes here and there the location of the gem stones could be associated with certain chakra points, which are in turn associated with certain emotions. For example Jasper's gem located on her nose could mean she is…
@Wagomu:
Easy one. Jasper is smelly.
Don't even listen to my esoteric bullshit about chakras. This man here knows exactly what's up. Clean, rational science.
Okay, this isn't news, this is just beautiful:
Pegeta and Gaku. Glorious.
Something, something, OVER 9000!
Steven Bomb coming on July 18th!

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay~
A lovely, enjoyable series that unfortunately has one of the most toxic fandom I've seen. What a shame.
Quite excited for s3
Jesus fuck what took them? lol

Yeah haha. This is one of those shows where you just got to avoid the fandom (namely Tumblr) and enjoy the show mostly alone.
Had I not become a fan way before the fandom starting acting up, I'd probably want nothing to do with the show honestly.
Wait wut, I have never heard anyone bashing the SU fandom besides the motel review thing. Otherwise pretty much everyone I've met in the SU fandom, online or offline, has been really rad and cool.

Someone named zami drew a skinny rose and almost 50 people on tumblr drove her to a suicide attempt by repeatedly harrasing her on every subsequent post about fat shaming

That was a while back wasn't it? And was a very specific case of some behavior that I can't imagine anyone I've spoken with or seen in the SU fandom would engage in? I dunno, there are dumb people everywhere, in every fandom, but I think hate fandom-ing is a whole bunch worse. Like you get news stories of friends beating each other to death over a PS4, or some shitheads on the Twitch channels swatting streamers, or lots of things like that, but that's no reason to hate the PS4 or Twitch or to think that all people associated with them are like that. Making that judgment, though, is kind of shitty, and really at least as shitty as the people they assume those fandoms to be composed of.
There was allegedly another suicide attempt from like a day or 2 ago only this time, the individual apparently went through with it.
Apparently it was over some shipping people didn't like.
Pearl X Mayor Dewey
I'm not exactly sure what happened, (not interested in the details) but suicide provokes aren't all the fandom has done within the past year. Granted they were all very minor compared to.. that.
It seems to me every fandom has a small percentage of awful human beings. It also seems to me that lately, awful human beings are more angry, more vocal, more entitled and more likely to band together than they were 10 years ago…probably because of the rise of social media and echo chamber tribalism.
I have never seen this side of the fandom and I pretty actively follow at least the subreddit and several other platforms for it. I feel like the people who collect these bad eggs are actively looking for them. Yes, it's shit, but jesus, I feel like people seem to regard neo nazis more highly than members of a fandom that's had a few other members do one or two bad things some time ago.
