Wow, I never expected to see this movie to happen this quickly. I really enjoyed the original movie, so I'm up for more the craziness of the Cloverfield monster. I'm interested into this one mostly for John Goodman.

_That's because this was originally wasn't connected at all to Cloverfield when it was originally made as Valencia. This film was originally made for Paramounts Insurge division(a subsidiary for films made for under 5 million dollars like The Devil Inside), and when Paramount closed it down, this movie(shot and completed) was thrown out to the wind and orphaned. Paramount bought it back up and had Dan Casey do some re-writes so that it would connect to the Cloverfield universe and they went back and did reshoots and add-ons in March 2015 in New Orleans. If i'm not mistaken this film was in post-production for almost a year as well.
This is a cash grab by Paramount so that they could make some quick bucks off of this film(which probably wouldn't have made a lot of money in its original non-Cloverfield incarnation). They are trying to spin this into something its really not. The budget is only 5 million dollars and they are releasing it in IMAX to make a little extra dough.
Also take into account that no one from the original cloverfield is working on this(aside from JJ Abrams, who was really just responsible for pitching the first movie to Paramount) and The original film was very much Drew Goddard and Matt Reeve's vision.

Okay then …
That was interesting read. I'm still game for this movie.
I didn't like Cloverfield, it was waaaay overhyped and the marketing was annoying. Fun fact, I thought it was going to be a Godzilla movie, going by its first trailer.
But the viral marketing worked, because despite how annoyed I was, I followed every bit of info that was being released up until the movie came out, just to find out more about the creature.
And since this movie doesn't have any of that, I'm not too excited. John Goodman has my interest, though. The viral marketing they did in '08 was unique, but it's hardly a unique thing to do nowadays so… I'll probably see it on dvd.

Is what I would say if this film were originally intended as a Cloverfield sequel. From the looks of it it's a movie about a family trapped in a bunker by a dad for [reasons], which is potentially a really great movie about resolve and mental issues, tacked on to a last minute monster flick.

They did a great job hiding this film. Can't say that I'm really interested in seeing it, since I only thought the first film was just ok.

Awesome to hear the reviews for it being great.
It looks like it's going to settle around a 90% on RT with 120 reviews in. 108 positive and 12 negative. Pretty damn good. Look forward to seeing this one soon.
Very entertaining film.
The similarities it shares with Cloverfield is that it has this unique angle to tackle tired and over-used concept.
Will not and should not spoil anything. Goodman was amazing, Winstead successfully erased my memory of The Thing sequel.
The climax though:
! I would believe it if it was called War of the Worlds spinoff.
With Cruise interacting with Tim Robbins being the whole film.
And one action sequence… It was more than an echo of that Spielberg misfire.
It was a great film. The third act seemed kind of forced, but that's just me. My friends loved the ending
Absolutely fantastic movie. Goodman is a genius and Winstead gives a phenomenal performance. Highly recommended!
Don't read anything about it before you go.

Just watched it today. Thought it was pretty good. Better than Cloverfield especially.
! The tone sort of shifts at the end though I think and it's kind of jarring. Probably could have been done better but oh well.
! I wonder if this movie took place at the same time as Cloverfield. They're around the Texas/Louisiana area so Cloverfield could have been taking place in New York at the time that this was happening here. I keep seeing people trying to figure out the timeline but I don't think it's that hard.
I really liked 80% of the movie but then it went off the rails with that stupid final 20 minutes…

Cloverfield Paradox was so bad. I didn't even know what was going on until half way through the movie
Lets take random movies, slap the cloverfield name onto it, barely if at all connect the movies, ask the viewers countless questions JJ Abrams style and maybe if ever give actual answers to any of them and properly connect the story of all the films.
