I'm pretty sure there's a lot content they can do for a sequel. This isn't a One Piece Pirate Warriors game. This is a completely new game. Even though were still getting new DLC, which basically helping this game from dying, the game doesn't have enough content to last forever. I also can't see Bandai Namco going year with no One Piece game, especially since it's a fighting game.
I think you missed what I meant. If a Burning Blood 2 was announced at Jump Festa, there would be less than a year's worth of time to develop the sequel, even if sequel development started right after the first one came out.
Typically, when a Jump-licensed game is announced, it releases about six months after.
Notice how half of Xenoverse 2's story takes place in the same locations as Xenoverse 1. Even the hub city is mostly made from reused assets.
There are plenty of other companies that could do a One Piece game next year, like Ganbarion. Give them another shot at the Unlimited Series.
Judging by the poll vote for Arlong, Don Krieg, and Kuru. It makes me think the developers can start the story mode from the very beginning. If they have to redo the MarineFord Arc, I would be okay with it. Dragon Ball games get away with it all the time and fans don't care.
One Piece has long since exceeded the point where having a game start from the beginning of the story and not skip a good chunk of it was still viable.
As more time goes on, fans start to care less and less about the earlier arcs being implemented into a video game.
One Piece's story is also double the length of Dragon Ball's original manga so not a solid comparison.
And fans DID care about DB games covering the whole (second half) of the story over and over again, which is why Xenoverse was a breath of fresh air.
People just want CyberConnect2 to develop a One Piece game because of their boss battles and graphics. And their games are simple.
That's basically it. They don't want fighting games, they want spectacle games.
I don't have a problem with a One Piece CAC/MMO game, but I see One Piece more as an adventure games than complicated CAC/MMO games. The producer of OP BB said he wants to develop open world One Piece games in one of his interviews. Play as Luffy and use a boat, so basically Zelda type of One Piece games. I'm cool with that.
They could easily do something like that before BB2.
Did it have Boss Battles like Storm?
It had boss battles, but there weren't like Storm. There was no quick-time events or multiple health bars.
Think of a regular boss fight like in any traditional fighting game, but in 3D.
I'm trying to find a negative in here. If people want a One Piece game that's similar to Storm (but doesn't have all of Storm's grating aspects), give it to them.
The vocal group who say that don't really know what they want. You can't always guarantee that just because a select few say they want this or that
will actually support the game. Everyone else who buys anime games just want a good game, first and foremost.
Considering that Bandai Namco licenses out most of the Jump titles, they don't want their games to be too similar to each other.
