Wendy and Cherry's Arm Wrestling is the most interesting thing in this chapter. God, why did I said that?

Wow Mashima, throwing bullshit "explanations" and powers around on a level lower than kindergarten.
They will get their powers back when ultear destroys herself to give their powers back either that or the god slayer will only do it since diemaria is calling herself a god
Yeah Fairy Tail, I totally believe there's going to be consequences in this story when it involves an actual main character. Ultear did suffer something at least, but ever since there has been zero consequences to characters actions. This would be like me believing Bleach will actually make sense story wise, Toriko won't have an exposition chapter, or death will happen in One Piece.
This chapter had some cool art, but that's all I can really give it. I can't feel the threat of Demaria because she is going against some of the weakest characters and really hasn't shown off that much. So far Ajeel has the best showing because that was the one fight that didn't have an asspull, and there was some build-up there.
The power of the future. This is pretty damn terrible.
slow claps for Mashima
Assistant - "MASHIMA-SAN, THE FANS DEMAND TO KNOW WHY IS ULTEAR YOUNG AGAIN AND HOW SHE SHOWED UP HERE!"
Mashima - "Humph, watch as I masterfully control the situation."
Ultear - "This woman´s magic stops time.
But while time is stopped, for whatever reason, I am able to exist in this form."
Mashima - "Nailed it."
I remember this from Rave.
But it was one boy instead of two girls. And he was the one from Mildean.

slow claps for Mashima
That's the least bullshitty part of the chapter. Yeah, would have been better if she just aged them instead of giving them future potential in magic form only.
Although, we may still see adult versions. That's about as good as this fight will get.
Whelp guess we know the next arc will be dealing with the Gods/Goddess. Guessing Ankhseram enshrined in Mildean as well.
Togashi is probably rolling in his grave despite not dying yet.
Adult Wendy and Shelia, and DiMaria is about to get Pitoud.
Why Togashi? Is he supposed to be the inventor of this trope?
And like I said, Mashima did it in his previous work and it predates Gon vs Pitou.

Time Stop is just such an overpowered ability, especially when the user is able to stop time infinitely.
Isn't Wendy a healer type mage? Seriously this is so stupidly handled.
Isn't Wendy a healer type mage? Seriously this is so stupidly handled.
She'll have learned Holy at that point, so she has one offensive spell to use.
So Charla is shot…
...and Wendy, who possess healing magic, decides to start bawling instead of, I don't know… heal her? At least try?
Even if I pretended that this manga was capable of killing important characters, that's stupid.
So this chapter made the bullshit of last chapter slightly less bullshit.
Only slightly.
! This chapter was even worse than last chapter. I gotta go over everything that bugged me from beginning to end.
! 1st. "But, while time is stopped, FOR WHATEVER REASON, I am able to exist in this form"
! Seriously?! This is literally Mashima telling us he has no fucking clue on how to justify this and just pulled this outta his ass. And I still dont buy the whole "Imma thought projection of my younger self even though Im an old lady which can conveniently ONLY appear when somebody has stopped time" Why would anybody think that should happen?
! 2nd. "I have used my power to allow you all to move"
! Why didnt you use that when Kagura was there? Isnt she more useful than Wendy being there? And if I remember correctly, Chelia was there as well. Wouldnt Kagura like a third origin? If your power activates when somebody else stops time, why didnt you use it before? I mean if Dimaria was serious, they would all be dead, because you didnt want to step in. Seriously holy fucking christ. Instead of Dimaria cutting clothes, she could have decided to cut their heads off and Ultear wouldnt have done anything because the Sky Sisters werent there. Is Ultear the worst character or what?
! 3rd. "I am but a concept, I cannot fight alongside you"
! So even though your just a concept, you can still use your magic to physically remove time stop from certain people, all the while being completely immune to damage. I dont know about you, but that sounds better than you actually being there in person. You get to use your time stopping powers to cancel others time stop all you want to your delight, all the while not having to worry about damage. Seems more than just a concept If you were a thought projection that could do nothing other than talk that would be one thing, but for some reason you can use your powers too, but cant be damaged? Pretty sweet deal to me
! 4th. Dimaria going Take Over God Soul. Now lemme just say I think that is pretty fucking cool actually, what I have a problem is what happened before that. So basically Dimaria going God Soul indicates to me that she couldnt even take on the Sky Sisters without going in this form. Yes she blocked the 2 sisters attacks with her sword, but it sure as hell seemed like she wasnt going to be able to counter attack in that form. (Granted she did just swing and move them back but) Which makes me view her as incredibly weak. Is your sword for show? Are you not a skilled swordswoman? Makes me wonder what would have happened had Kagura or Erza been fighting here, I wonder if Dimaria would even get a chance to get into her God Soul.
! Now this paragraph isnt a complaint, just more of a curiosity. I was kinda confused over the attack she used to buy her time to go into her God Soul. Was that the power of the God Soul itself? Or could she do that beforehand? Her right arms armor vanished, so I assume it was the power in the process of going God Soul, but I just wanted to know if she could have used that type of attack earlier, might've been interesting than just her using sword swings. I mean what even was that attack? I thought it was gravity based at first, but it made an explosion, though maybe the explosion was just from her powering up into God Soul.
! 5th. Charle getting lazered/everyone shocked expression/Wendy not immediately trying to heal her
! Seriously wtf was that shit. Mashima, do you honestly think we as readers are going to act surprised/shocked/fearful that somebody of the main cast might die? Gray got shot through the head and it meant nothing, and this looks not as bad, therefore no tension. But wtf Wendy, you didnt immediately attempt to heal Charle? You just stared at her and cry? I know your a sweet little loli but come on.
! Also fuck you Ultear for being able to time stop Charle death, your clearly more than a thought projection.
! 6th. Ultear - "But.. what can they do?! This is not an opponent these kids can hope to beat" Then next page "Such gallant eyes, replete with resolve…these girls can...to this extent"
! So basically Ultear admits these girls dont stand a fucking chance, however due to their faces of gallantry, it then gives her hope. Like wtf? I dont care how valiantly you try, when your outmatched your outmatched. So I was preparing for the worst......until Ultear then said this
! 7th. Ultear - "I wonder...are you prepared to use the power of the future?" Wendy -"Future?" Ultear - "Yes...Right now, I can give you the opportunity to use the power that you may one day develop. If you choose not to do this, you have no hope of defeating her. But if you use this secret art, you will never again be able to use magic. Such is the power of the future. Third origin"
! Oh. My. Fucking. God. This is Mashima in his truest form right here. This part right here is probably my biggest complaint of this chapter. There are so many problems with this.
! 1st. Really Mashima? Second Origin was already a huge asspull to cover up the fact that a 7 year time skip was stupid as hell, but now you are going to pull ANOTHER ONE OUT!? Didnt the explanation of 2nd Origin imply that mages just recently discovered a second container for magic which was previously unused? So how the hell is there a third one? Did you Ultear not bother to mention this at the time? Or did you only recently discover this where nobody else had before? Does anybody other than Ultear and Fairy Tail even use second or third origins? Why are only the protagonists the one who gets them?
! Like Jesus fucking christ. How many of these origins are you going to introduce? THE POWER OF THE FUTURE. Yeah man. Lets only have protagonists be the one to call on their future power AND NOBODY ELSE.
! 2nd. I like how Ultear offering Third Origin basically invalidates what she said right before, with her thinking they never stood a chance, how in the world can they possibly win. And the only reason she offered third origin is because she saw how gallant they were. Like isnt that just shitty writing for a character? How are you doing to be all dumbfounded wondering how these 2 will win, and then literally a page later offer them Third Origin which will then obviously increase their chances exponentially?
! 3rd.The idea of consequences for not being able to use magic anymore. Does anybody seriously think after the whole Aquarius thing that consequence mean a god damn thing in Fairy Tail? Of course not.
! Sorry for the long post. Its just I visit other forums as well and people are eating this chapter up thinking how great it was and that it corrects all the problems from the previous one. I just dont understand how people can read things like this and think its perfectly fucking fine. Yes I know opinions and all that, but god dammit man.
^This. So much. Thank you for exactly writing down the reasons why the word bullshit were growing bigger and bigger in my head while reading through this chapter.
Still unable to regain control of time from something that's merely a concept of time-manipulating woman, even after transforming. What a puny Goddess of Time, save for those tits and ass. FT's Gods are such pushover, aren't they?
Oh, never mind. There's one absolute god in FT, that is is called STATUS QUO. Consequences after using Power of Future? You must be joking. Even that boy from RAVE that used the same power got reverted to his young appearance after rapidly aging, for some reason.

Let me provide a counter argument in favor of Ultear. I put it in spoilers due to its length.
! She has a nice ass.
Wendy is going to be happy that she will get boobs like Edolas Wendy lol.
@Bartholemew:

Well I was curious with your answer so I got an experts opinion on it. I'll put it in spoilers in case it offends anybody
!
So…I have to also wonder. Does Ultear have an alarm that goes off when time magic is used in the world? How would she even get to where the fight is? Or know it's happening?
So…I have to also wonder. Does Ultear have an alarm that goes off when time magic is used in the world? How would she even get to where the fight is? Or know it's happening?
The only answer for that is "somehow" she could. Everything in FT is always magic-related (or friendship), but not the most consistent and rule-bound example around.
It would only make sense if Ultear's final moment was her being trapped inside crevice of time forever with no way of getting out. Coupled with Wendy forgetting her existence until DiMaria activated her time stop. But nope, that's not what happened. She's just a concept, indestructible but can give powerups for free.
I'm sure not even the real Ultear can make sense out of this shit.

She's a thought projection. Thought projections work over great distances. I suppose since Ultear herself is a time mage, perhaps her physical form is still able to perceive time is stopped even if her physical self can't move and send out those thought projections. Don't forget that Jellal was able to send projections of himself all the way to Magnolia from R-System Tower.
!
You know, I don't really see what the big problem is with the concept of 3rd origin itself. Using time magic to awaken someone's future potential at the cost of magical power itself is not much of a stretch considering what Ultear is able to do with her magic.
If there is a problem it's the fact it will be done instantly, instead of taking time and causing excrutiating pain like with 2nd origin.
Rave spoilers.
! Anyway, it was done better in Rave. The kid got a gigantic but short magic boost in exchange for his remaining time, started aging rapidly during the fight, and ended up as an old man and died shortly after the fight ended. It was 3 vs 1 and 2 of the good guys and one villain were dead at the end of the fight.
Btw, if you didn't read Rave, read it to see just how bad FT is. It's by no means a masterpiece, but a lot of the stuff was done a lot better there. People actually die and shit.
Time Stop is just such an overpowered ability, especially when the user is able to stop time infinitely.
Only when it's used against conventional opponents. Time stopping on a practical level equals infinite initiative for whatever else they can do. If whatever they can do couldn't actually hurt their enemy then it's basically just super speed. Maybe even worse than that since objects in stopped time don't function to a full extent making time stop inferior to "prep time."
Example: Dio was at best just tossing punches, knifes and vehicles around. That could deal with normal people, but if he ever had to fight endgame Kars he'd be eventually screwed. Hell, if Dio's vampirism wasn't supplementing his stand abilites then Polnareff would have killed him.

Unlike what Jelly did which seemed like nothing but decoy body to distract and wind up the councils, this one just goes overboard by still being able to provide vital assists and unlocks future potential. Besides, she could've done that on previous victim of time-stop stripping instead of now, considering Kagura might have better chance to win against Dimaria than the kids, with or without the future shite.

Jellal's thought projection was able to use magic as well, though. The only difference here is that Ultear is using her projection to assist people rather than maintain a farce.
That's probably not how it works. The fact that she showed up right as the rest of her guild (Crime Sorciere) did probably has something to do with why she was able to intervene now and not before.

Hopefully it does have anything to do with Jelly's group or else it wouldn't make sense. It'd ruin her final sacrifice either way, at least for me.
Rave spoilers.

Is that what happened? Sure some characters did die, but I vaguely remember him still being around in the final chapter, with some magics reveal related to his survival. I was into Rave back then, but even then I found it was cringe-worthy. T'was long time ago though, so maybe I mixed him up with another character that share similar fate.

That is clearly not her real final sacrifice since she will do another final sacrifice to give them back their magic after they lose it all she has to do is turn back time before used the spell on them and they will get their powers back.

! Yeah, he was alive in the end. Belnika too. Because of such and such, don't remember the details. Still, it doesn't really demean the effect of those deaths when they happened, not for me. It was way more tense that anything I've seen in FT. Them coming back alive in the end was more of a cop out in the interest of happy end when it didn't even matter for the story, so I couldn't really be that annoyed.
 After all this discussion, I feel the urge to re-read RAVE for nostalgia's sake, but I'm worried that I might approach it the same way I'm seeing Fairy Tail now.

That's more like it, but there's actually another way around it. This "future potential power-up" relies on whatever ability one might have developed in the future at cost of not being able to use it anymore, right? The solution for that is very simple: just work to develop different ability.
As I understand it, it's using its full potential now, but at the cost of losing your ability to use any magic at all.
The only way I can see it not being empty of consequences is if the series is over after this. So it still will be devoid of any consequence, but we just won't see it.
Am I the only one with the theory that Mirajane is going to show up and make it a Take Over battle which in turn stops the kids from using 3rd origin ? I mean Mirajane is the true GOD and pro of takeover, even though the enemys takeover is God Soul Takeover. Mirajane also takes over Gods as well, and her takeovers are from Gods of the underworld. So Mashima, please make this a battle I have been dying too see. I want to see MIRAJANE in her STRONGEST form beat the literal hell out of this chick. Thanks
Check the map. The elfsiblings are very far away, while time is stoped.
http://readms.com/r/fairy_tail/476/3281/1
All things considered not a bas chapter, but nothing great either. Lack of build-up makes me not care about any of the emotional parts of this chapter, but at least I can't be mad at anything. Also, props to Mashima for not taking advantage of the possible fanservice.
I wish Mashima could make his characters actually make practical choices and not just feelings from the gut. It made more sense for the God slayer type mage to go all out in the first place. Wendy is the worst healer. She could a been healing Charlie the second she dropped but instead decided to cry over her then cry overy her friend losing magic. Holy hell she wasn't going to die. Was magic really that important? Makes seem to be the minorities on this world. Not like it's the backbone of society.
Also so kind of the villain to wait while they tried to make up their minds initially lol.
No adult Wendy!? Please, someone tell me this is a fake chapter or something!!
NNNOOOOOOOOO~~~
Well the bullshit became less bullshit, but Fairy Tail is still overall bullshit.
And boobs.
Bullshit and Boobs.
kinda wish if Mashima did more quick battles, he do them during longer length chapters.
i did like it that it was Sherria who fought instead of wendy taking the limelight of the battle.
but i feel it kinda was predictable since wendy's Big battle in this arc will most likely be all 7 Dragon Slayers VS Acnologia.
@sanji''s_dad:
They will get their powers back when ultear destroys herself to give their powers back either that or the god slayer will only do it since diemaria is calling herself a god
They only had two options so it was easy to guess also old Ultear can be seen in the last panel of the chapter and that lesbian moment to bad that she likes Natsu maybe they can have a threesome but now they can no longer be called the sky scissor sisters lol.
!
This fight certainly had a lot bullshit happen.
No adult Wendy!? Please, someone tell me this is a fake chapter or something!!

Whelp guess we know the next arc will be dealing with the Gods/Goddess. Guessing Ankhseram enshrined in Mildean as well.
At least this will not happen now lol.
Mashima at the end of volume 52:
"Maybe this will even lead to the final battle with Zeref"
"The enemy boss characters are also the 12 strongest characters in the history of this series"
Yet Wahl got trounced like a jabronie.
Credit where credit is due, this wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Fan service was modest by FT standards, and some of the character's expressions actually look genuine. This was the first time in a while where a crying FT character looked sad and not… awkward.
I'm still not without my complaints though. First of all, the villain was boring as hell and you couldn't care less that she got defeated, and while I like how Wendy tried to be the one to sacrifice herself, the fact that they were fighting a god made it obvious Sherria would be the one to defeat her. The whole thing with Ultear is still stupid and unnecessary. And most importantly: this chapter makes it clear that Wendy, by herself, could heal Charla just fine.
And we all know that if Mashima wants it, then Sherria will get her powers back. Which ruins 90% of the tension this could've had.
Yet Wahl got trounced like a jabronie.
The 12 are just padding even zeref is the same since they're not allowed to kill him since Natsu will die (ultear even knocked zeref out in her fight with him when they first met) and he is more emo than evil acnlogia is the only real boss but instead of zeref letting his dragon slayer help them he sent his 12 on a suicide mission since if he tries to fight acnlogia with his remaining 12 they will just die no point in unlimited magic if you die before you even attack like his dragon slayer did making zeref go even more emo lol.
if zeref wanted to kill acnlogia he could have became a dragon slayer since dragons were even still alive when he was.
I know it's because of the drama but Ultear giving Wendy only a kaioken, instead of a super saiyan adult mode right away, is just another example of plotforcing bullshit Ultears' whole presence here represents.
Other things I had to gripe about are already said, although Wendys behavior is somehow understandable because of shock and here youth. Not ok, again, is Ultear enjoying and envying the sight of those two glorious girls arguing infront of a dangerous enemy despite there is no time to lose.
So what did Ultear do to Wendy? All she used was her Dragon Force.
So what did Ultear do to Wendy? All she used was her Dragon Force.
she tricked her into thinking that she gave her third origin but she just made it so wendy will get boobs faster lol.
