Thanks to Smash the full version of Azura's song is now out there: Link

Do you get those maps for pre-ordering?
IIRC no, you have to buy them.
But they have varying cost and I know the Awakening one is free. They'll come out week after week when the game launches.
-
I was watching just now a live from Polygon, an apparently there's no dual audio unless it's really well hidden.
And if it's not, this is a step back by Nintendo's part.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
On the other hand skinship wasn't entirely removed, only the patting function.
-
Glad they kept the 2d models and dialogue. Would have been a waste to take them out entirely.
I hear that the reason why they wouldn't have dual audio is because the woman who performs Azura's song is a kind of a celebrity and NoA couldn't get the rights to use her voice.
-
If that's the case make Azura a mute instead of sacrificing the entire jp audio just because.

Hmmm so we can look but not touch? I see how it is.
-
Oh cool, questionable feature aside, those models were too good to go to waste.
And considering I spent like 90% of my Awakening playtime on the English track, no dual audio is a bummer, but no biggie at all.
-
I really hope there's dual audio in the European version.
I want my Zero/Niles with Dio/Kuzan voice.
-
Does this still means we can still smooch?
-
Some minor spoilers at the beginning? Overviews the game's story and gameplay.

Not quite. The cast is the same as in Awakening. If they didn't add dual audio is simply because Nintendo didn't feel like there was any need.

Some actors had roles in Awakening (Matthew Mercer, Travis Willingham), but the game has some new VAs…..I do wonder why it's not there.
Here's Polygon's full stream:

Uh what? Awakening didn't have Valshe and Renka who are the above mentionned popular singers who are likely what's preventing dual audio. With the latter, the song in the game is actually her debut single.
Licensing isn't as easy as you seem to think. If there's no japanese voice tracks in the western release it's not because ''they didn't feel like it'', it's because the RIAJ (Record Industry Association in Japan) are really stubborn on the subject of releasing their music overseas without following a certain procedure.
But hey, you can keep blaming it on NoA being lazy if it makes you feel any better.

Although some voices are gonna take getting used to (Felicia), the dub voices sound fine in my book. Azura's singing is superb from what I can hear, and some characters (Silas, Arthur, Takumi, Rinkah, etc.) were cast very well from the snippets we heard.
Then again, Felicia is exactly like Olivia. In the Japanese version, the voice is more "moe" and high-pitched, then you have the English version trying to go with a more "natural" sounding voice to Westerners. Not quite sure if people were as jarred then.
It's partially because everyone had over a half of year to get "used" to the JPN audio track, same with the original names.

Even Felicia's awkward delivery is growing on me. I really don't think the english voices are as bad as people make them out to be. There are quite a few who are just overreacting, as they probably always do.

There's that guy on Serenes Forest (he also makes lots of Youtube videos) who's a hardcore fanboy of Olivia and jumps at every opportunity to hate on her english voice because by taking out the moe to replace it with a more mature/assertive ''ruined the Olivia he fell in love with''.
(He's fine with pretty much the rest of the voice work in Awakening though)

Not bashing or anything, just wanted to point that there were people who were jarred by english Olivia as well.

Olivia's english voice is fine a bit lower pitched than it should be but fine otherwise.

I think it doesn't help that like Awakening, you get somewhat jarring voice clips in dialogue. :P
But yeah, some people across boards are acting like that this is the worst localization ever because "the dub is awful". Geez, I would wait until I've played through the game, saw every cutscene, and heard everyone's voices to really say. The fact that some characters are really good (Saizo <3), and that once again, there's a large castpool is proof that it's probably not going to be "omg terrible".
For crying out loud, even if it's not "as good as Awakening's", it's definitely not Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn's dub.

Oh, shadowofchaos. Has some good translation work.
It's funny because so many people were hating on Felicia simply because of the moe voice before this.

Hahaha…the voice acting in
….See people, Fates is Broadway compared to this.
-
Just want to point out that Gunther is voiced by DC Douglas….aka Albert freaking Wesker.
Best Jeigan confirmed? He's even got growths like the original!
-
It's partially because everyone had over a half of year to get "used" to the JPN audio track, same with the original names.
For me it's more because I played Awakening with the Japanese audio, so the recurring characters that appear in Fates are going the have different voices than I'm used to. Not to mention the Awakening DLC stuff.
Seriously considering just playing Birthright in English to get used to the systems etc, and then playing the other two (where the recurring characters appear more) in Japanese (since it's reading system text in Japanese that slows me down more than reading dialogue, usually).
-
Bummer that they are not putting in the Jpn audio, but i never used it myself and quite enjoyed the english dub.

Can you please NOT abbreviate "Japan" or "Japanese" this way? Official abbreviation is "Jpn".
-
I never understood why that was so offensive, but that is a discussion for another thread and I'll play along.
Still a bummer they didn't put in the Jpn audio though.

That word is a racial slur, read the link I posted.

I read it, that's why I stopped saying it.

"GOLDOA WILL NOT MOVE"
teleports what is implied to be the entire population of Goldoa to the Tower
Reason #29 why I'm never playing Radiant Dawn again - sitting through all of Sephiran's dumbass cutscenes.

I always liked how Ranulf not only got the chance to have a voice, but actually had the only voice that WASN'T terrible. And it sounded like what he would actually sound like.
Unlike Zelgius who looks 30 but sounds 60.

I hate to admit it, but I just skip those. Honestly, I play Radiant Dawn purely for the game, and gathering the Ranulf, Nephenee, Kieran, Marcia, Gatrie, and Ilyana crew for the second time. Path of Radiance is far more superior.

Yeah but it takes hours to do that (and Ilyana isn't around enough to not get outclassed by Soren, but this is a problem for about every magic user who isn't Soren in RD.) Hours I could use to not go through the meaningless shitshow that is Part 1.
-
People are dissing Radiant Dawn?
HOLD! HOLD, I SAY!
(yeah I like PoR a whole lot better too, though RD is not without its merits)
-
The best thing about Radiant Dawn are the Oliver supports.
Especially the Sigrun/Oliver support.

Although I read he joins even if you don't want him to, which is hilarious.

He's the only non-Lord to get unique supports.
Oliver owns and should've been the main character instead of Micaiah.

To quote the PoR stream of Awesome Games Done Quick, "Oliver did nothing wrong".

I like doing the hand holding that often appears in Fire Emblem. If I like a character, I'll go out of my way to make them useful.
But yeah, Part 1 is pretty harsh. Never been a big fan of anyone in that crew (except Ilyana of course). Edward has quite the fanbase, though.

Nah, I like Radiant Dawn a lot. It's just an easy game to poke fun at. Honestly, I will buy the hell out of Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn HD.

English amiibo usage for Fates:

Seeing that Ike sprite makes me super happy that I bought him.
Any info if Roy will be included in this?

Any info if Roy will be included in this?
No news atm, but I don't think a patch is out of the question.
-
Wait, if Ike's here, then where are his boyfriends?
Are Soren and Ranulf wandering the wilderness alone now?????
-

Ike probably said he was going out to get some milk, but then got lost and ended up in a completely different timezone.
Ranulf and Soren are probably home together. Ranulf is chill and enjoying his day, while Soren is pacing back and forth screaming at himself as to why he didn't go with Ike to the store.

English amiibo usage for Fates:
I don't know what they're talking about, Corrin as a name to me still sounds nowhere near as good or comforting as Kamui. But I guess the idea is that whatever name you input sounds comforting to them.
Also, shame it's always male Robin that gets the presence and attention. =(

It's because female Morgan so thoroughly outshines male Morgan. If we have to sacrifice slightly more interesting Robin in order to get mischievous dervish Morgan, I'm will to make that sacrifice.
-
Guys…Marth spoke english.

I have an interesting head-canon.
-"Corrin" doesn't sound Hoshidoan (Japanese), while "Kamui" does not sound Nohrian (not Japanese). While you have Nohrians calling you the latter and Hoshidoians calling you the former, I like to think the avatar character was born Kamui, then re-named Corrin when he/she was um…relocated if you will.
Personally I like Kamui better too, but oh well~

So… about Awakening... Casual or Classic mode?
-
So… about Awakening... Casual or Classic mode?
Casual if you're new to the series.
Classic if you want a taste of the traditional fire emblem experience of perma death.
-
I understand that's the idea, but what's the consensus on the Right way to play it?
Is the Permadeath something people see as a bad thing that the Casual mode "Fixes" or do people see Classic as the "Correct" way to play with Casual being Nintendo "Handholding" too much?
-

Play classic and always reset your game every time you lose an unit.

Play classic and always reset your game every time you lose an unit.
This is the patented Fire Emblem experience.
Casual is for newbies, slightly more sane Lunatic+ players, and those who are intentionally trying out a different playstyle.
