Toriko. What the FUDGE man!
-
Below Bleach? And Gintama in the bottom too? Explain this bullshit.
-
It's the chapters where they abandoned every sense of plot progression and said "look at the big animals!"
What is actually strange is gintama (unless that one is the life stream reveal) and how samon has survived this long.
-
Since Sanjou Riku is returning to manga writing, I wonder this means the resume for Beet the Vandel Buster is near.
-
It's almost like Shimabukuro's "radical" form of story-telling wasn't appreciated by the Japanese.
-
World Trigger in the top 5 though
-

Actually, this is chapter 342, I think, which is not hard to figure out why it ranked so low. Because if it was one of those bestiary exposition chapters you say, well… just to let you know, Toriko ranked Top 5 only two weeks prior.
-
well… just to let you know, Toriko ranked Top 5 only two weeks prior.
Not two weeks, five weeks prior.
-
Whatever, my point still applies.
-
Whatever, my point still applies.
Yeah, but it has been pretty low for last two weeks and it finally dropped to last place. I know just one week drop doesn't determine Toriko's doom; but, it is still not a good sign.
-
I'm not worried. I've seen worse times for other series that made it all to way to the end.
-
I'm not worried. I've seen worse times for other series that made it all to way to the end.
Well, it isn't mean like Toriko getting axed or anything.
-
Nah, man, don't mind it. It's the same with Gintama. I think suddenly forcing it to end after many years of progress would left a really bad aftertaste to us readers, no matter how bad it ranks.
Not saying this is going to happen or anything (no chance at all, actually). Just my opinion on long running serializations and how dumb it would be to ax even just one, after so long.
-
It's the same with Gintama.
Wait, you think Gintama is being forced?
Just my opinion on long running serializations and how dumb it would be axing even one, after so long.
I agree. But, moving to different magazine is quite possible (but, really can't say anything at this point).
-
Gintama is going to end pretty soon. Not sure is sorachi driven or editorial driven.
-
@Kaizou:
Wait, you think Gintama is being forced?
I think he meant Gintama too is a very long running serialization by now and shouldn't have a forced ending neither.
-

Gintama has had a charm unique to any WSJ manga.despite being overbearing time to time it deserved to run this long..
-

Yes, pretty much this.
I can recall there had been a case of a long running serialization ending abruptly. Regardless of what or which factors lead to its sudden cancellation, it didn't sit well to the many readers that were purchasing it.
-
Oh right this was the chapter where they revealed that they were gonna skip the cook-off LOL

Cover, Lead CP: Ansatsu Kyoushitsu
CP: Haikyuu!!, Crematers (One Shot by Sanjou Riku (story author of Bouken Ou Beet) and Shiibashi Hiroshi (author of Nurarihyon no Mago))Oooh now that's a combo that has my attention. Shiibashi was one of my favorite artists back when Mago was running, I thought it had the best art in Jump at the time(especially around the Tono/Kyoto arc). I've always thought that he should just pair up with a writer since Mago's writing was very weak/bad at times and Illegal Rare was pretty awful. Hopefully these 2 can make some magic happen.
@Kaizou:

Yeah, Toriko rankings have been pretty mediocre overall this entire year; plus even the volume sales have plummeted in the past year. World Trigger/Gintama/Nisekoi/Bleach all move more copies, so I could honestly see Toriko getting rushed to its end or moved to Jump+ pretty easily.

It is getting popular, but not as much as BnHA. Dungeon Meshi reminds more of BnHA.

Yeah that's the one. Popularity is not to surprising since I remember its one shot winning some kodansha award.

CP means just color page which located somewhere in the magazine. Lead CP means the color page which going to be located at the first page of the magazine. It doesn't mean neither of those.

That bottom 5… Wonder how much longer Nisekoi and Toriko will run. Nice to see Samon-kun is doing better now and I expect Sesuji wo Pin!to will continue ranking well since the latest chapters have been incredible.

I know that world trigger rankings are not good because of the breaks the author takes. Why is one piece not affected by this?
-
Because Oda's breaks are scheduled by Shueisha, iirc.
-
I know that world trigger rankings are not good because of the breaks the author takes. Why is one piece not affected by this?
Maybe because One Piece has ten times more readers than World Trigger
-
Also, since I got e-wsj I have combed over nisekoi and world trigger, and even comparing the two artwise, nisekoi has more dynamic art and you feel like there is change, instead world trigger, by looking at the art is a bunch of people talking inside sterile buildings a lot.
That's my take on these two series based on what I seen, not read.
-
I know that world trigger rankings are not good because of the breaks the author takes. Why is one piece not affected by this?
OP isn't taking absents as much as WT. Besides, do you think OP should be getting same treatment as WT?
-
Why the hell Black Cat had to end too early goddamnit!?
-
@Kaizou:
OP isn't taking absents as much as WT. Besides, do you think OP should be getting same treatment as WT?
No, I don't think any manga should have bad rankings just because of the breaks the author takes. I was just asking to see why world trigger is affected by this while One piece is doing really good and the breaks seemingly does not have any effect on its rankings.
-
No, I don't think any manga should have bad rankings just because of the breaks the author takes.
One or two absents in a year isn't really enough to put the series into lower position (I know OP took more than one or two absents, but not as much as WT). WT is taking the break really frequently (like one absents per month) and that's enough to put it into low ranking.
Plus, OP is a series which is highest selling series in manga history and break lots of manga records. Nobody really can't complain about OP getting special treatment.
-

In the past 1 or 2 times One Piece got lower rankings, because Oda failed the manuscript date. Right now the breaks are already known and expected by the editor staff and is basically a special treatment.
Also note that One Piece is the most popular manga in the magazine for 18 years, almost 2 decades. And One Piece still keeps being the most popular manga in Japan. It makes total sense that they put it in the top and not in any other place, even with the breaks. World Trigger just doesn't have this privileges.
